Abstract

An inkjet printer (20) including a printhead assembly (28) and an ink supply (24) coupled to the printhead assembly (28) for supplying ink (50) thereto. The printhead assembly (28) may include a compliant chamber (54) and a printhead (88) arranged to receive ink (50) from the compliant chamber (54). The ink supply (24) may be configured to expand the compliant chamber (54) and then to create a backpressure that contracts the compliant chamber (54) and induces reverse flow from the printhead assembly (28) to the ink supply (24).
