[0001 ] この発明は、 潤滑油などの流体中に混入した破片を検出する破片検出セン ザに関する。
背景技術
[0002] 従来、 自動車や航空機、 ヘリコプタ等の潤滑油中に、 エンジンやトランス ミッシヨン、 軸受等の摩耗や破損によって生じた金属破片あるいは金属紛が 混入していることを検出する装置として、 メタルチェックセンサあるいはォ ィルチヱックセンサあるいはデブリスセンサなどと呼ばれる金属片検出装置 が提案されている (特開昭 5 5— 0 5 2 9 4 3号公報、 特開昭 6 1—2 5 3 4 5 5号公報、 特開 2 0 0 0 - 3 2 1 2 4 8号公報、 特許 2 7 0 3 5 0 2号 公報および特許 2 8 6 5 8 5 7号公報参照) 。 このような金属片検出装置は 、 エンジンやギアボックス、 軸受等の各種装置の健全性を検査する手段とし て使用され、 検査対象の装置の各部位における劣化の情報をこれらの部位に 破壊的な故障が生じる前に得ることが出来る。
[0003] 現在、 特に航空機用ジェットエンジンにおいて、 その小型化と高速化が求 められている。 従来より、 航空機用ジェットエンジンの主軸用軸受では、 そ の転動体に金属材料が用いられてきたが、 現状の転動体材料では更なる高速 化が困難な状況にある。 高速化に耐えうるためには、 軸受の転動体を窒化珪 素 (S i 3N4 ) 等を原材料とするセラミック玉やセラミックころとする必要があ る。 また、 ジェットエンジン用軸受にセラミック玉やセラミックころを適用 した場合、 大きぐ I生能が向上し、 ひいてはジェットエンジンの効率が向上し 、 環境負荷を軽減できる可能性がある。 一方、 従来の金属片検出装置では、 金属材料、 磁性材料または導電性材料の破片のみ検出が可能であり、 非金属 、 非磁性、 非導電性を特徴とするセラミック材の検出は不可能であった。 し たがって、 例えばセラミック製の転動体を使用した軸受の場合には、 破壊的 な故障が生じる前に、 金属片検出装置を用いて転動体の劣化や損傷に関する 情報を得ることができない。 そのため、 現状ではこの様な構成の軸受は、 用 途が限定された航空機にしか使用されていない。
発明の開示
[0004] この発明の目的は、 流体中に混入した破片の有無、 大きさまたは蓄積量を 、 混入する破片の量に左右されずに安定良く検出することができる破片検出 センサを提供することである。
[0005] この発明の破片検出センサは、 流体中に混入する破片を検出するセンサで あって、 2つの対面する平板と、 これら 2つの平板のうちの少なくとも一つ の平板を対面方向に動かして前記 2つの平板に破片を挟み込ませる移動機構 と、 前記 2つの平板間の距離を測定することで、 前記破片の有無、 大きさ、 または蓄積量を検出する測定■判定手段とを有する。 この構成によると、 2 つの平板のうちの一つの平板を動作させて、 2つの平板間の静電容量を測定 し、 その測定値から破片の有無、 その大きさや蓄積量を判定するようにして いるので、 検査対象である潤滑油等の流体中に混入した破片の状態 (破片の 有無や破片の大きさ) を、 推定できる。 また、 前記破片検出センサを自動車 , 航空機, ヘリコプタ等に組み込んだ場合、 潤滑油中に混入した破片の状態 をモニタすることができるため、 故障の前兆あるいは故障の診断を行い、 運 転の停止や部品交換が必要なことを知らせることができる。 また、 検出した 情報により、 劣化や損傷から破壊的な故障が生じる前にその情報を得ること ができる。
[0006] この発明において、 前記測定■判定手段は、 前記 2つの平板間の距離を静 電容量で測定するものであっても良い。 静電容量によると、 簡単な構成で精 度良く 2つの平板間の距離を測定することができる。
[0007] この発明において、 前記測定手段は、 交流電流を印加して、 インピーダン スを測定することにより前記静電容量を推定するものとしても良い。 インピ 一ダンス測定によると、 簡単な構成で精度良く測定できる。
[0008] この発明において、 前記測定手段は、 前記静電容量の変化を周波数の変化 に変換する発振器と、 この発振器の発振する周波数から前記静電容量を推定 する周波数対応容量推定手段とでなるものであっても良い。 このように発振 器および周波数対応容量推定手段を設けた場合、 精度良く検出することがで さる。
[0009] この発明において、 前記測定手段は、 前記 2つの平板間に充電および放電 を繰り返し生じさせる充放電手段と、 その充電および放電の繰り返しにおけ る過度現象によって生じる充放電時間より前記静電容量を推定する充放電時 間対応静電容量推定手段とでなるものであっても良い。 充放電時間対応静電 容量推定手段を設けた場合も、 精度良く検出することができる。
[0010] この発明において、 前記 2つの平板間の距離を測定する手段に変位センサ を用いてもよい。 この構成によると、 2つの平板のうちの一つの平板を動作 させて、 2つの平板間の距離を変位センサで測定し、 その測定値から破片の 有無あるいは大きさや蓄積量を判定するようにしているので、 検査対象であ る潤滑油等の流体中に混入した破片の状態 (破片の有無や破片の大きさ) を 、 その破片の材料が金属■非金属, 磁性■非磁性, 導電性■非導電性等のい ずれの材料特性であるかを問わず推定できる。
[001 1 ] この発明において、 前記 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つの平板に絶縁層 を設けても良い。 この構成によると、 前記 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つ の平板に絶縁層を設けているので、 2つの平板間に挟み込む破片が導電性材 料からなる場合であっても、 破片の状態を確実に推定することができる。
[0012] この発明において、 前記 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つの平板を、 この 平板の傾きを許容する柔軟性のある支持部材で支持しても良く、 例えば全体 を弾性体とするなど、 各種の構成のものとできる。 ここで言う 「柔軟性のあ る」 とは、 弾性もしくは可撓性、 またはその両方があることを言う。 また、 前記支持部材は、 前記傾きに加えて柔軟に凹み、 つまり後退を可能とするも のであっても良い。 この構成によると、 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つの 平板を動作させて 2つの平板間に破片を挟み込み、 これら 2つの平板間の距 離を測定■判定手段で測定することで、 破片の有無または大きさまたは蓄積 量を検出するものとし、 かつ 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つの平板を柔軟 性のある支持部材で支持固定するようにしたため、 例えば大きさの異なる複 数個の破片が 2つの平板間に挟み込まれるような状態であつても、 柔軟性支 持部材の可撓性または弾性作用により、 少なくとも 1つの平板を傾斜した安 定姿勢で破片に接触させることができる。 そのため、 測定■判定手段による 測定値が安定したものとなり、 流体中に混入した破片の有無または大きさま たは蓄積量を安定良く検出できる。
[0013] この発明において、 可動側の平板を支持する前記支持部材を、 平板の倒れ 方向の自由度を与える力ップリング部材で構成しても良い。 この力ップリン グ部材は、 両端が他の部材に対する結合部とされ、 中間が屈曲自在なように 前記柔軟性を有する部材のことである。 このようなカップリング部材を用い た場合、 平板の倒れ方向の自由度を大きく得ることや、 その柔軟性の程度が 高めることが容易となる。
[0014] この発明において、 前記 2つの平板は電極からなり、 さらにもう 1つの電 極を備え、 前記移動機構はこれら 3つの電極のうち少なくとも 1つの電極を 動かすことによっていずれか 2つの電極間に前記破片を挟み込ませることで 、 前記測定■判定手段は前記破片を挟み込んだ 2つの電極間の距離であるギ ヤップの大きさを測定するものとすることができる。 この構成によると、 3 つの電極のうち少なくとも 1つの電極を移動機構で動かすことによって、 い ずれか 2つの電極間に破片を挟み込み、 挟み込んだ 2つの電極のギヤップを 測定■判定手段で測定することで、 破片の有無、 大きさ、 および蓄積量のい ずれかを検出するものとしているので、 2つの電極間に破片が挟み込まれる 確率が高くなり、 流体中に混入する破片の有無、 大きさまたは蓄積量を、 混 入する破片の量に左右されずに安定良く検出できる。
[0015] この発明において、 前記 3つの電極は上下方向に並べて配置されており、 これら 3つの電極のうち、 上側 2つの電極の間、 および下側 2つの電極の間 に、 それぞれギャップを測定するギャップ測定手段を設け、 前記移動機構は 、 上側 2つの電極間および下側 2つの電極間に破片を挟み込むように、 中央 の電極を上下動作させるものであっても良い。 この構成の場合、 中央の電極 の 1回のストロークの両端でそれぞれ検出動作を行えることになり、 検出動 作の効率も高めることができる。
[001 6] この発明において、 前記中央の電極を動作させる移動機構が、 前記流体を 流す流路の外部に設置され、 この移動機構は、 固定側の 2つの電極のうちの いずれか一方の電極に設けた孔を貫通した貫通体を介して前記中央の電極を 動かすものであっても良い。 この構成の場合、 3つの電極をコンパク トに配 置できる。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0018] この発明の第 1実施形態を図 1ないし図 4と共に説明する。 図 1は、 この 第 1実施形態の破片検出センサの概略構成図を示す。 この破片検出センサは 、 検査対象である流体中に混入する破片を検出するセンサであって、 互いに 対面する 2つの平板 5 , 7と、 これら 2つの平板 5 , 7のうちの少なくとも —つの平板を対面方向に動かして 2つの平板 5 , 7間に破片 1 3 (図 3 ) を 挟み込ませる移動機構 9と、 前記 2つの平板 5 , 7間の距離を測定すること で、 前記破片 1 3の有無、 大きさ、 または蓄積量を検出する測定■判定手段 1 6とを備える。 この破片検出センサの場合、 流体の一種である潤滑油が検 査対象の液体とされる。
[001 9] 前記 2つの平板 5 , 7と移動機構 9はセンサユニット 1に組み込まれる。
このセンサュニット 1は、 検査対象である潤滑油を流す流路となる油路 4 a が貫通して設けられたベース部材 4を有し、 油路 4 aの一端には給油配管 2 が接続され、 油路 4 aの他端には排油配管 3が接続されている。 この場合、 潤滑油は、 給油配管 2の油路 2 aからベース部材 4の油路 4 aを経由し、 排 油配管 3の油路 3 aに流れる。 例えば、 給油配管 2はェンジンゃギアポック ス、 軸受等で使用された潤滑油が収集される配管に接続され、 排油配管 3は オイルタンクへの配管に接続される。
[0020] 2つの平板 5 , 7のうちの一つの平板 5は導電性材料からなる固定平板で あって、 ベース部材 4の油路 4 aの途中において、 絶縁材料からなる固定部 材 6を介してベース部材 4に電気的に絶縁された状態で固定されている。 固 定平板 5は、 その表面が油路 4 a内に臨む向きとなるように配置される。
[0021 ] 移動機構 9はプッシュプルソレノイ ド等からなる直動ァクチユエ一タであ つて、 その可動軸 9 aが前記ベース部材 4の油路 4 aの貫通方向に直交する 方向に進退自在となるように、 ァクチユエ一タ固定部材 1 0を介してべ一ス 部材 4に固定されている。 直動ァクチユエ一タ 9の可動軸 9 aの先端部には 、 絶縁材料からなる固定部材 8を介して、 前記 2つの平板 5 , 7のうちの他 の一つの平板 7が電気的に絶縁された状態で固定されている。 この平板 7は 、 直動ァクチユエ一タ 9の可動軸 9 aと一体に進退自在とされた可動平板で あって、 固定平板 5と同様に導電性材料からなり、 ベース部材 4を貫通して 油路 4 a内に臨み、 固定平板 5に対面する。 ここでは直動ァクチユエ一タ 9 としてプッシュプルソレノィ ドを使用した例を示しているが、 直動ァクチュ エータであれば、 その種類は問わない。 たとえば、 電動モータとポールネジ を組み合わせたものでも良いし、 空圧や油圧を使用したものでも良い。 移動 機構 9として、 直動ァクチユエ一タを用いた場合は、 回転駆動源を用いる場 合と異なり、 回転を直線運動に変換する機構が不要で、 破片検出センサを簡 素でコンパク トな構成とできる。 直動ァクチユエ一タ 9を動作させると、 そ の可動軸 9 aに固定部材 8を介して設置された可動平板 7が進退して、 固定 平板 5に近づいたり、 離れたりする。
[0022] 直動ァクチユエ一タ 9の可動軸 9 aは、 その後端部に固定されたばね受け 部材 1 1 とァクチユエ一タ固定部材 1 0との間に介在させた圧縮ばね 1 2に より、 進出方向に付勢される。 図 1は、 直動ァクチユエ一タ 9に電源を投入 した状態を示し、 このとき可動軸 9 aは圧縮ばね 1 2を圧縮させて後退して おり、 可動平板 7は固定平板 5から離れた位置にある。 一方、 直動ァクチュ エータ 9に電源を投入していない状態では、 図 2のように、 電源投入時に圧 縮された圧縮ばね 1 2が復元する力によって、 可動平板 7が固定平板 5に接 触する位置まで進出する。 可動平板 7と固定平板 5とが接触した状態で、 可 動平板 7には圧縮ばね 1 2による予圧が与えられているので、 可動平板 7と 固定平板 5とは一定の圧力で接触した状態となる。
[0023] 測定■判定手段 1 6は、 静電容量測定手段 1 4と判定手段 1 5とでなる。
静電容量測定手段 1 4は、 可動平板 7と固定平板 5との間の静電容量を測定 する手段であり、 静電容量測定手段 1 4の入力端子である電極 1 4 a、 1 4 bがそれぞれ可動平板 7と固定平板 5に接続される。 判定手段 1 5は、 静電 容量測定手段 1 4の測定値から潤滑油中の破片 1 3 (図 3 ) の状態を判断す る手段であり、 例えば測定値と判定結果とを関係を定めたテーブルまたは演 算式の判定規則を有し、 その判定規則と測定値とを比較して破片の有無、 大 きさ、 または蓄積量等につき、 判定結果を出力するものである。
[0024] 次に、 この破片検出センサを用いて、 エンジン, ギアボックス, 軸受等の 装置の摩耗や破損によって生じた各種材料からなる破片が混入している潤滑 油中の破片を検出する動作を説明する。 前記したように、 直動ァクチユエ一 タ 9に電源を投入すると、 図 1のように可動軸 9 aが後退して、 その可動軸 9 aに固定部材 8を介して設置された可動平板 7が固定平板 5から離れる。 このとき、 可動軸 9 aに固定されたばね受け部材 1 1 とァクチユエ一タ固定 部材 1 0のと間に設置された圧縮ばね 1 2は、 圧縮される。
[0025] 次に、 検査対象の液体として、 エンジン, ギアボックス, 軸受等に使用さ れている潤滑油を給油配管 2の油路 2 aからベース部材 4の油路 4 a内を経 由して排油配管 3の油路 3 aに流し、 この状態のもとに、 直動ァクチユエ一 タ 9への電源の投入を停止すると、 圧縮ばね 1 2の復元力により可動軸 9 a と一体に可動平板 7が固定平板 5に接近する方向に進出する。 このとき、 ベ —ス部材 4の油路 4 aを流れる潤滑油中に、 図 3に示すように、 エンジンや ギアボックス、 軸受等の摩耗や破損によって生じた各種材料の破片 1 3が混 入していると、 この破片 1 3が可動平板 7と固定平板 5との間に挟み込まれ る。 これにより、 可動平板 7と固定平板 5との間には、 破片 1 3の厚み分だ け距離 (ギャップ) dが生じる。 このギャップ dにより、 2つの平板 5 , 7 間には静電容量 Cが形成される。 [0026] ところで、 一般的に、 平行平板間の静電容量 Cは

となることが知られている。 すなわち、 静電容量 C [ F ] は、 真空中の誘電 率ど 0 (8. 854 x 10- 12 [ F /m ] ) と潤滑油の誘電率 £ r と平行平板の面積 S [ m2 ] とを掛け合わせたものを、 平行平板間のギャップ d [ m ] で割った 値となる。 この実施形態の場合、 潤滑油の誘電率ど r と平行平板の面積 Sは 一定となるため、 静電容量 Cの値は平行平板間つまり可動平板 7と固定平板 5の間のギャップ dに依存する。 そこで、 2つの平板 5 , 7間の静電容量 C を前記静電容量測定手段 1 4で測定することにより、 平板 5 , 7間のギヤッ プ dの値を検出し、 その値により破片 1 3の大きさや蓄積量を推定すること が出来る。
[0027] —方、 2つの平板 5 , 7間に破片 1 3がない場合、 潤滑油による極微小な 膜によるギャップ dが形成されるか、 もしくは平板 5 , 7同士が接触する。 潤滑油による極微小なギャップ dの場合、 静電容量 Cは破片 1 3を挟み込ん だ場合と比較するとかなり大きな値を示す。 また、 平板 5 , 7同士が接触し た場合、 導通状態となる。 したがって、 これらの値から破片 1 3の有無を判 別できる。 破片 1 3の有無、 大きさや蓄積量の判定は、 静電容量測定手段 1 4の測定値に基づき、 判定手段 1 5で判定される。 静電容量測定手段 1 4に は、 電気容量計などの計測器を用いることができる。
[0028] 図 4は、 図 1の破片検出センサにおける測定■判定手段 1 6の構成要素で ある静電容量測定手段 1 4の第 1構成例を示す。 この静電容量測定手段 1 4 は、 直列接続した発振器 2 0と電流測定手段 2 1 とでなり、 発振器 2 0から 可動平板 7と固定平板 5に交流電流を流し、 平板 5、 7間の静電容量 Cをィ ンピーダンスに換算して電流測定手段 2 1で測定する。 この場合、 測定した インピーダンスから静電容量 Cを求めることもできる。 その他の構成は図 1 の場合と同様である。
[0029] 図 5の回路図は、 破片検出センサにおける静電容量測定手段の第 2構成例 を示す。 同図に示す静電容量測定手段 1 4は、 図 4の破片検出センサにおけ る測定■判定手段 1 6の構成要素である静電容量測定手段 1 4に代わるもの で、 O Pアンプ 3 2で構成した発振器 3 0と、 この発振器 3 0の発振周波数 から静電容量を推定する周波数対応容量推定手段 3 1 とでなり、 測定した発 振器 3 0の周波数から平板 5 , 7 (図 4 ) 間の静電容量 Cを推定する。 この 場合の発振器 3 0はリラクセーションオシレ一タ (re l axat i on osc i l l ator ) と呼ばれ、 O Pアンプ 3 2に抵抗 3 3 Ra , 3 3 Rb , 3 3 Rt 、 および コンデンサ 3 3 Ctを接続して構成される。 抵抗 3 3 Ra , 3 3 Rb , 3 3 R t の抵抗値を Ra , Rb , Rt 、 コンデンサ 3 3 Ctの静電容量を Ctとする と、 発振周波数 f は、 およそ、

となることが知られている。 ここでは、 前記発振器 3 0のコンデンサ 3 3 Ct が平板 5 , 7間の静電容量 Cに置き換えられることで、 その静電容量 Cが推 定される。

この第 6実施形態の場合、 潤滑油および絶縁層 7 aの誘電率 £ r , ε τ ' 、 絶縁層 7 aの厚み分のギャップ d' 、 平行平板の面積 Sはそれぞれ一定と なるため、 式 (4) で示される 2つの静電容量 C1 , C2 の合成静電容量 C の値は、 破片 1 3の厚み分のギャップ dに依存する。 そこで、 2つの平板 5 , 7間の合成静電容量 Cを前記静電容量測定手段 1 4で測定することにより 、 破片 1 3の厚み分のギャップ dの値を検出し、 その値により破片 1 3の大 きさや蓄積量を推定することができる。

[0069] 3つの電極 5 A , 5 B , 7 Aはいずれも導電性材料からなり、 前記ベース 部材 4の油路 4 aの途中において、 その油路 4 aの貫通方向と直交する方向 に互いに平行となるように並べて配置される。 そのうち 1つの電極 5 Aは平 板状とされた固定電極であって、 絶縁材料からなる電極固定部材 6 Aを介し てベース部材 4に電気的に絶縁された状態で固定されている。 この固定電極 5 Aは、 その表面が油路 4 a内に臨む向きとなるようにべ一ス部材 4の下側 に配置される。 もう 1つの電極 5 Bも平板状とされた固定電極であって、 絶 縁材料からなる別の固定部材 6 Bを介してベース部材 4に電気的に絶縁され た状態で固定されている。 この固定電極 5 Bは、 その表面が油路 4 a内に臨 み前記下側の固定電極 5 Aと対面する向きとなるようにベース部材 4の上側 に配置される。 残る 1つの電極 7は、 平板状の電極基体 7 aと、 この電極基 体 7 aの片面から垂直に延びて前記固定電極 5 Bおよび固定部材 6 Bに設け られた孔 1 9を貫通する貫通体 7 bとからなる断面 T字状の可動電極であつ て、 その貫通体 7 bの後端が移動機構 9の可動軸 9 aに連結され、 可動軸 9 aと一体に進退自在とされる。 この可動電極 7は、 その電極基体 7 aが前記 油路 4 aにおける前記両固定電極 5 A , 5 B間の中央部に位置して電極基体 7 aの各片面が両固定電極 5 A , 5 Bにそれぞれ対面するように配置される 。 なお、 上側の固定電極 5 Bを貫通する可動電極 7の貫通体 7 bは、 固定電 極 5 Bに対して電気的に絶縁状態が保たれている。 貫通体 7 bだけを絶縁材 料とすることにより、 固定電極 5 Bとの間が電気的絶縁状態となるようにし ても良い。
前記移動機構 9も第 1実施形態のものと同様のものを用いることができ、 その可動軸 9 aが前記ベース部材 4の油路 4 aの貫通方向と直交する方向に 進退自在となるように、 ァクチユエ一タ固定部材 1 0を介してべ一ス部材 4 に固定されている。 移動機構 9の可動軸 9 aの先端部には、 絶縁材料からな る固定部材 8を介して、 前記可動電極 7の貫通体 7 bが電気的に絶縁された 状態で固定されている。
図 2 4は、 移動機構 9に電源を投入して可動軸 9 aの進出を規制する第 1 のモードに設定した状態を示し、 このとき可動軸 9 aは圧縮ばね 1 2を圧縮 させて若干後退しており、 可動電極 7 Aは両固定電極 5 A , 5 Bから共に離 れた中央位置にある。 一方、 移動機構 9に電源を投入していない状態では、 圧縮ばね 1 2が復元する力によって、 可動電極 7 Aは図 2 5のように下側の 固定電極 5 Aに接触する位置まで進出する。 可動電極 7 Aと固定電極 5 Aと が接触した状態で、 可動電極 7 Aには圧縮ばね 1 2による予圧が与えられて いるので、 可動電極 7 Aと固定電極 5とは一定の圧力で接触した状態となる 。 図 2 6は、 移動機構 9に電源を投入して、 可動軸 9 aを図 1の第 1のモ一 ドの状態よりも上側に後退させる第 2のモードに設定した状態を示し、 この とき可動電極 7 Aは上側の固定電極 5 Bに接触する位置まで後退する。
[0071 ] 測定■判定手段 1 6 Cは、 静電容量測定手段 1 4と変位センサ 1 7と判定 手段 1 5とでなる。 静電容量測定手段 1 4は、 可動電極 7 Aと各固定電極 5 A , 5 Bとの間の静電容量を測定する手段であり、 静電容量測定手段 1 4の 入力端子 1 4 a , 1 4 bがそれぞれ可動電極 7 Aと固定電極 5 A , 5 Bに接 続される。 変位センサ 1 7は第 3実施形態と同様の方式のもので、 可動電極 7 Aと各固定電極 5 A , 5 Bとの間のギャップ (距離) を測定するギャップ センサであり、 例えば下側の固定電極 5 Aに埋め込んだ状態で設けられる。 この場合、 変位センサ 1 7は、 直接的には可動電極 7 Aと下側の固定電極 5 Aの間のギャップを測定することになるが、 両固定電極 5 A , 5 B間の距離 および可動電極 7 Aの電極基体 7 aの厚みが一定であることより、 可動電極 7 Aと下側の固定電極 5 Aの間のギャップ測定値から可動電極 7 Aと上側の 固定電極 5 Bの間のギャップも自動的に算出される。

[0074] 潤滑油からの破片検出動作時、 ベース部材 4の油路 4 aを流れる潤滑油中 に、 エンジンやギアボックス、 軸受等の摩耗や破損によって生じた破片 1 3 が混入していると、 その破片 1 3は可動電極 7 Aと下側の固定電極 5 Aとの 間を流れる。 この状態のもとに、 移動機構 9への電源の投入を停止すると、 圧縮ばね 1 2の復元力により、 可動軸 9 aと一体に可動電極 7 Aが下側の固 定電極 5 Aに接近する方向に進出して、 図 2 7のように可動電極 7 Aと下側 の固定電極 5 Aとの間に破片 1 3が挟み込まれる。 これにより、 可動電極 7 Aと固定電極 5 Aとの間には、 破片 1 3の厚み分だけギャップ dが生じる。 このギャップ dを変位センサ 1 7が測定する。 同時に、 このギャップ dによ り、 2つの電極 5 A , 7 A間には静電容量 Cが形成される。
[0075] この第 1 1実施形態の破片検出センサによる破片検出動作においては、 前 記第 8実施形態の破片検出センサによる破片検出動作における平板 5 , 7を 、 電極 5 A , 7 Aと読み替えることで、 前記実施形態で適用された式 (3 ) 、 (5 ) 、 ( 6 ) がそのまま適用され、 2つの電極 5 A , 7 A間の静電容量 Cを前記静電容量測定手段 1 4で測定することにより、 変位センサ 1 7によ る測定とは別の方法で電極 5 A , 7 A間のギャップ dの値を検出でき、 その 値によっても破片 1 3の大きさや蓄積量を推定することができ、 検出された 破片 1 3が導電性であるか非導電性であるかを判別することが可能となる。 判定手段 1 5の導電性■非導電性判別部 1 8は検出された破片 1 3が導電性 材料か非導電性材料かを判断する機能を有する。
[0076] 次に、 図 2 7の状態から、 移動機構 9に電源を投入して第 2のモードに設 定すると、 図 2 8のように可動軸 9 aが第 1のモ一ドよりもさらに後退して 、 可動電極 7 Aと上側の固定電極 5 Bとの間に破片 1 3が挟み込まれる。 こ れにより、 可動電極 7 Aと上側の固定電極 5 Bとの間には、 破片 1 3の厚み 分だけギヤップ dが生じる。 このギャップ dを変位センサ 1 7が測定する。 この場合、 変位センサ 1 7は、 下側の固定電極 5 Aと可動電極 7 Aの間のギ ャップ測定値を基にして、 可動電極 7 Aと上側の固定電極 5 Bの間のギヤッ プを間接的に測定することになる。 同時に、 このギャップ dにより、 2つの 電極 5 B , 7 A間には静電容量 Cが形成される。 ここでも、 可動電極 7 Aと 下側の固定電極 5 Aとの間に破片 1 3が挟まれる場合と同様にして、 破片 1 3の有無、 大きさ、 蓄積量が検出され、 さらには検出された破片 1 3が導電 性か非導電性かが判断される。
[0077] 図 2 9は、 図 2 4の破片検出センサにおける測定■判定手段 1 6 Cの構成 要素である静電容量測定手段 1 4の構成例を示す。 この静電容量測定手段 1 4は、 直列接続した発振器 2 0と電流測定手段 2 1 とでなり、 発振器 2 0力、 ら可動電極 7と固定電極 5 A , 5 Bに交流電流を流し、 電極 5 A , 7間およ び電極 5 B , 7間の静電容量 Cをインピーダンスに換算して電流測定手段 2 1で測定する。 この場合、 測定したインピーダンスから静電容量 Cを求める こともできる。 その他の構成は図 2 4の場合と同様である。

[0080] このように、 この第 1 1実施形態の破片検出センサでは、 3つの電極 5 A , 5 B , 7のうち少なくとも 1つの電極 (可動電極) 7を移動機構 9で動か すことによって、 いずれか 2つの電極間 (下側の固定電極 5 Aと可動電極 7 との間、 および上側の固定電極 5 Bと可動電極 7との間) に破片 1 3を挟み 込み、 挟み込んだ 2つの電極のギャップを測定■判定手段 1 6 Cで測定する ことで、 破片 1 3の有無、 大きさ、 および蓄積量のいずれかを検出するもの としているので、 2つの電極間に破片 1 3が挟み込まれる確率が高くなり、 潤滑油中に混入する破片 1 3の有無または大きさまたは蓄積量を、 混入する 破片 1 3の量に左右されずに安定良く検出できる。
[0081 ] また、 この第 1 1実施形態では、 3つの電極 5 A , 5 B , 7 Aのうち、 上 側 2つの電極 (固定電極 5 Bと可動電極 7 ) の間、 および下側 2つの電極 ( 可動電極 7 Aと固定電極 5 A ) の間に、 それぞれギャップを測定するギヤッ プ測定手段 (変位センサ 1 7と静電容量測定手段 1 4 ) を設け、 移動機構 9 は、 上側 2つの電極 5 B , 7 A間および下側 2つの電極 7 , 5 A間に破片 1 3を挟み込むように、 中央の電極 (可動電極) 7 Aを上下動作させるものと しているので、 中央の電極 (可動電極) 7 Aの 1回のストロークの両端でそ れぞれ検出動作を行えることになり、 検出動作の効率も高めることができる
[0082] また、 この第 1 1実施形態では、 中央の電極 (可動電極) 7 Aを動作させ る移動機構 (直動ァクチユエータ) 9を、 検査対象の流体 (潤滑油) を流す 流路 (油路) 4 aの外部に設置し、 2つの固定電極 5 A , 5 Bのうち一方の 固定電極 5 Bに設けた孔 1 9を貫通する貫通体 7 bを介して可動電極 7 Aを 動かすものとしているので、 3つの電極 5 A , 5 B , 7 Aをコンパク トに配 置できる。

[0084] なお、 前記 2つの電極 5 , 7 Aの間のギャップを測定する手段としては、 前記第 1 1実施形態のように、 静電容量測定手段 1 4と変位センサ 1 7を併 用する場合に限らず、 静電容量測定手段 1 4だけを用いても良いし、 変位セ ンサ 1 7だけを用いても良い。 また、 静電容量測定手段 1 4だけを用いる場 合、 各 2つの電極における少なくともいずれか一方の電極対向面に絶縁材料 のコーティング層を設けるものとすれば、 2つの電極間に挟み込まれる破片 1 3が導電性材料からなる場合であっても 2つの電極間が短絡しないので、 破片 1 3が導電性材料であるか非導電性材料であるかを問わず 2つの電極間 の静電容量を正しく測定でき、 破片 1 3の有無、 大きさ、 蓄積量を正確に検 出できる。

請求の範囲
[1 ] 流体中に混入する破片を検出するセンサであって、 2つの対面する平板と 、 これら 2つの平板のうちの少なくとも一つの平板を対面方向に動かして前 記 2つの平板に破片を挟み込ませる移動機構と、 前記 2つの平板間の距離を 測定することで、 前記破片の有無、 大きさ、 または蓄積量を検出する測定 - 判定手段を有する破片検出センサ。
[2] 請求項 1において、 前記測定■判定手段は、 前記 2つの平板間の距離を静 電容量で測定するものである破片検出センサ。
[3] 請求項 2において、 前記測定手段は、 交流電流を印加して、 インピーダン スを測定することにより前記静電容量を推定するものである破片検出センサ
[4] 請求項 2において、 前記測定手段は、 前記静電容量の変化を周波数の変化 に変換する発振器と、 この発振器の発振する周波数から前記静電容量を推定 する周波数対応容量推定手段とでなる破片検出センサ。
[5] 請求項 2において、 前記測定手段は、 前記 2つの平板間に充電および放電 を繰り返し生じさせる充放電手段と、 その充電および放電の繰り返しにおけ る過度現象によって生じる充放電時間より前記静電容量を推定する充放電時 間対応静電容量推定手段とでなる破片検出センサ。
[6] 請求項 1において、 前記 2つの平板間の距離を測定する手段に変位センサ を用いた破片検出センサ。
[7] 請求項 1において、 前記 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つの平板に絶縁層 を設けた破片検出センサ。
[8] 請求項 1において、 前記 2つの平板のうち少なくとも 1つの平板を、 この 平板の傾きを許容する柔軟性のある支持部材で支持した破片検出センサ。
[9] 請求項 8において、 可動側の平板を支持する前記支持部材を、 この平板の 倒れ方向の自由度を与える力ップリング部材で構成した破片検出センサ。
[10] 請求項 1において、 前記 2つの平板は電極からなり、 さらにもう 1つの電 極を備え、 前記移動機構はこれら 3つの電極のうち少なくとも 1つの電極を 動かすことによっていずれか 2つの電極間に前記破片を挟み込ませることで 、 前記測定■判定手段は前記破片を挟み込んだ 2つの電極間の距離であるギ ャップの大きさを測定する破片検出センサ。
[1 1 ] 請求項 1 0において、 前記 3つの電極は上下方向に並べて配置されており 、 これら 3つの電極のうち、 上側 2つの電極の間、 および下側 2つの電極の 間に、 それぞれギャップを測定するギャップ測定手段を設け、 前記移動機構 は、 上側 2つの電極間および下側 2つの電極間に破片を挟み込むように、 中 央の電極を上下動作させるものである破片検出センサ。
[12] 請求項 1 0において、 前記中央の電極を動作させる移動機構が、 前記流体 を流す流路の外部に設置され、 この移動機構は、 固定側の 2つの電極のうち のいずれか一方の電極に設けた孔を貫通した貫通体を介して前記中央の電極 を動かすものである破片検出センサ。
