発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0007] 図 3に示す従来技術においては、少なくとも 3基の蒸留塔を用い、それらを工程順 に直列的に接続した形態を取って!/、る。
一般に、蒸留においては、蒸留塔内に液体を保持すること(ホールドアップ)が必要 である。蒸留塔を上述のように直列的に接続していると、上流の塔から、順次、液体 を溜めていく必要があり、各塔を同時に起動することができない。したがって、製品が 得られるまでに長期間力、かるという問題があった。
[0008] 特に、光反応セル 3から得られる単位時間あたりのガス量は少ないので、第 2蒸留 塔 5へのフィードが小流量となることが予想される。低温蒸留では、充分な循環ガス量 が確保できないと蒸留塔内が冷えず、定常運転に至るまでに時間がかかる。ガス量 を増やすために、光反応セル 3を大型化することも考えられる力 設備が大型化しコ ストも力、かるので、あまり望ましくない。
[0009] 他の問題として、光反応セル 3でのオゾンの光分解は減圧下で行われるため、光反 応セル 3と第 2蒸留塔 5との間には、液化昇圧装置 4を設ける必要がある。しかし、液 化したオゾンをポンプなどで機械的に圧縮することは、安全性の問題からあまり好ま しくない。
また、このような蒸留塔の直列的な接続は、系全体において、低流量のガスを減圧 下の環境で制御する必要があり、計測やバルブ操作が非常に難しぐ安定した運転 制御が難し!/、ことが予想される。
[0010] よって、本発明における課題は、酸素同位体重成分の濃縮において、装置全体を コンパクトにして設備費用を低減できるようにし、運転操作が安全で、かつ安定した操 業ができるようにすることにある。
課題を解決するための手段
[0011] かかる課題を解決するため、
本発明の第 1の態様は、蒸留によって酸素同位体重成分を濃縮する方法であって
(a)ォゾナイザにより発生したオゾンと酸素とを希釈ガスが充填された蒸留塔に供 給して、酸素とオゾンおよび希釈ガスとに分離する第 1蒸留工程と、
(b)前記蒸留塔の塔頂から酸素を排出する工程と、
(c)前記蒸留塔を減圧する工程と、
(d)前記蒸留塔の塔底からオゾンと希釈ガスの混合ガスを光反応セルに導入し、レ 一ザ光を照射して、酸素同位体重成分を含むオゾンを選択的に分解する光分解ェ 程と、
(e)工程 (d)で得られた酸素同位体重成分を含む酸素と未分解のオゾンとを、前記 蒸留塔に戻して酸素とオゾンおよび希釈ガスとに分離する第 2蒸留工程と、
(f)酸素同位体重成分を含む酸素を前記蒸留塔の塔頂に設けたコンデンサで液化 し、製品酸素として取り出す工程と、
(g)未分解のオゾンを前記蒸留塔から導出し、オゾン分解装置で酸素に分解した 後、再び前記蒸留塔内に戻す工程と、
(h)酸素と希釈ガスとを分離する第 3蒸留工程と、
(i)工程 (h)で分離された酸素を系外に排出する工程とを含み、
第 1ないし第 3蒸留工程を同一の蒸留塔において実施する酸素同位体重成分の濃 縮方法である。
[0012] 本発明においては、前記工程 (c)を、前記コンデンサの運転条件を変更することに より行うことが好ましい。
また、前記工程 (d)における前記蒸留塔へのガスを戻すための推進力を、蒸留塔 底部の液ヘッドによる圧力差で得ることが好ましい。
[0013] 本発明の第 2の態様は、本発明の酸素同位体重成分の濃縮方法を実施するため の装置であって、
少なくとも、酸素からオゾンを発生させるォゾナイザと、
3つの前記工程 (a) (e) (h)を実施する 1基の蒸留塔と、
酸素同位体重成分を含むオゾンを選択的に分解する光反応セルと、
オゾン分解装置とを備えた酸素同位体重成分の濃縮装置である。
[0014] 本発明においては、前記蒸留塔の塔底部の内径を他部分の内径より小さくすること が好ましい。
また、前記蒸留塔の塔底部に、気液分離部を設けることが好ましい。
発明の効果
[0015] 本発明によれば、 1基の蒸留塔によって 3回の蒸留工程を順次行うようにしているの で、装置全体をコンパクトにすることができる。また、安定した蒸留を行うために使用 する希釈ガス量も、 1/3程度に少なくすることができる。
また、蒸留塔において、塔底部に溜めた液体の液ヘッドにより、光反応セルにガス が循環するようにしたので、機械的圧縮手段が不要となって安全性が高いものとなる 〇

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0018] 図 1は、本発明の濃縮方法を実施するための濃縮装置の一例を示すものである。
図 1に示した酸素同位体重成分の濃縮装置は、圧縮機 11、ォゾナイザ 12、 1基の 蒸留塔 13、光反応セル 14、オゾン分解装置 15から概略構成されている。蒸留塔 13 には、塔頂にコンデンサ 16が塔底にリボイラ 17が設けられている。
本発明では、 3つの蒸留工程を 1基の蒸留塔 13で実施することを特徴としている。 第 1蒸留工程ではオゾンを濃縮し、第 2蒸留工程では目的の同位体を濃縮し、第 3 蒸留工程では目的の同位体が含まれていない酸素と希釈ガスとを分離する。
[0019] (第 1蒸留工程:オゾン濃縮)
原料の酸素を圧縮機 11で圧縮し、ォゾナイザ 12に導入してオゾンを発生させる。 オゾンと未反応の酸素との混合ガスを、蒸留塔 13にフィードする。このとき蒸留塔 1 3には、蒸留の安全性と安定性とを保っため、希釈ガス(クリプトン、キセノン、あるい はフロン類)を予め導入しておく。コンデンサ 16とリボイラ 17に適当な温度条件の流 体 (例えば液化窒素)を流すことで、蒸留塔 13内に下降液と上昇ガスを発生させる。
[0020] 蒸留塔 13の塔頂に酸素が濃縮されてきたら、塔頂の酸素ガスを徐々に排出する。
導出した酸素は系外に排出しても良いが、ォゾナイザ 12の上流側に循環させると収 率が上がる。
蒸留塔 13の塔底のオゾン濃度が所定の濃度(数%〜; 10%程度)になったら、ォゾ ナイザ 12からの混合ガスの蒸留塔 13へのフィードを停止する。 蒸留を続けながら蒸留塔 13内に残った酸素ガスを系外に排出していく。排出ガス 中の希釈ガスの濃度は、徐々に高まってくる。希釈ガスがォゾナイザ 12中で反応す る場合、反応性生成物の発生を防ぐために、排出ガスは、ォゾナイザ 12へ循環しな い。ただし、この排出ガスを系外に貯めておき、第 1蒸留工程の初期段階で蒸留塔 1 3に直接フィードしてもよい。このような方法で、酸素と希釈ガスを有効利用することが できる。
[0021] 蒸留塔 13の塔頂のガス濃度を測定し、塔頂に酸素がなくなるまで第 1蒸留工程を 続ける。塔内に酸素が残留していると、第 2蒸留工程において製品酸素が希釈され てしまうので、できる限り酸素を排出する。
酸素が充分に排出されれば、蒸留塔 13の塔頂は希釈ガスリッチの状態となる。
[0022] (第 2蒸留工程:製品酸素の採取)
酸素を排出し終えたら、コンデンサ 16への冷却流体 (液化窒素)の温度を低下させ 、蒸留塔 13内を減圧 (負圧)にする。このとき塔内は全還流とする。
蒸留塔 13内が所定の圧力まで減圧されたら、リボイラ 17からの上昇ガス (オゾンと 希釈ガスの混合ガス)の一部を光反応セル 14に導入する。光反応セル 14では、レー ザ装置 18からの特定波長のレーザ光を照射し、 目的の酸素同位体重成分 (例えば18 o)を含む同位体オゾン (例えば、 16o16o18o、 16o17o18o、 16o18o18oなど)のみを分 解し、 目的の同位体を酸素分子として濃縮する。
このときの光反応セル 14内の圧力は、オゾンの分子衝突を抑えるため、 13kPa以 下にすることが好ましい。圧力の下限値は特に限定されず、本発明が実施可能な値 であればよい。
[0023] リボイラ 17からの上昇ガスの残部は、バイパスバルブ 19を通って蒸留塔 13に戻さ れる。
光反応後のガス(酸素と未分解のオゾンの混合ガス)を光反応セル 14から蒸留塔 1 3に戻す。蒸留塔 13への戻す位置は、特に限定されないが、塔下部であることが望 ましい。
リボイラ 17からの上昇ガスの光反応セル 14への供給と蒸留塔 13への返送ならびに 光反応セル 14からの反応後のガスの蒸留塔 13への返送を連続的に行いながら、第 2蒸留工程を行う。この工程の進行に伴って、蒸留塔 13の塔頂には酸素同位体重成 分の含有量が高い酸素が徐々に溜まっていく。この酸素は、コンデンサ 16において 冷却され、還流液として蒸留塔 13に戻され、循環する。
[0024] ここで、蒸留塔 13と光反応セル 14との間のガス循環は、蒸留塔 13の塔底部に溜め た下降液の液ヘッド (液頭圧)を利用して行うことが好まし!/、。液ポンプや圧縮機によ る送ガスは、オゾンを分解させる可能性もあるので、好ましくない。このとき、塔底部の 内径を、蒸留塔 13の他の部分の内径よりも小さくしておくと、少量の液で圧力差を生 じさせること力 S可倉 となる。
また、リボイラ 17にサーモサイフォン式を用いる場合、気液分離部が必要となる。塔 底部の液溜め部の内径を小さくした場合、図 2に示すように、気液分離器 21を蒸留 塔 13の底部に設けることもできる。
[0025] 第 2蒸留工程において、コンデンサ 16で液化された還流液の酸素濃度が高純度に なってきたら、還流液の一部を製品液化貯槽 20へ貯める。製品液化貯槽 20を省略 した場合は、コンデンサ 16を貯槽と兼用し、液体酸素を直接、抜き出してもよい。 製品液化貯槽 20に、 目的の酸素同位体重成分が濃縮された酸素 (製品酸素)が 溜まったら、製品液化貯槽 20へのラインを閉じる。製品液化貯槽 20を加温して製品 酸素ガスを取り出す。
このとき、蒸留塔 13内は、塔頂部が希釈ガスリッチである。
[0026] (第 3蒸留工程:酸素と希釈ガスの分離)
第 2蒸留工程で蒸留塔 13内に残ったオゾンは、 目的の酸素同位体重成分が減少 したものである。したがって、塔底部に濃縮されたオゾンを酸素に分解して系外に排 出する第 3蒸留工程に入る。
第 2蒸留工程で、製品液化貯槽 20へのラインが閉じられたら、光反応セル 14への ガス供給を止め、バイパスバルブ 19を閉じ、リボイラ 17からの上昇ガスの全量をォゾ ン分解装置 15に導入する。オゾンを非選択的に酸素へと分解し、得られた酸素を蒸 留塔 13に戻して上昇ガスとする。
[0027] 第 3蒸留工程では、塔頂に酸素が濃縮され、塔底に希釈ガスが濃縮される。塔頂で 濃縮された酸素は、廃棄酸素として系外に排出される。 酸素が排出されると、やがて蒸留塔 13内は希釈ガスのみとなるので、第 1蒸留工程 に戻る。
希釈ガスとして使用する希ガス(クリプトンまたはキセノン)またはフロン類は、高価で あり、またフロン類については大気放出が環境保護の面でも問題となるため、繰り返 し使用することが望ましい。
[0028] 上述の実施形態では、蒸留塔 13の分離性能を低下させないように、蒸留塔 13と光 反応セル 14との間の循環ガスラインと別にガス量を調整可能なバイパスライン (バイ パスバルブ 19)を設け、蒸留に必要な上昇ガス量を保持することができる。このため、 光反応セル 14におけるオゾンの反応量に合わせ、光反応セル 14に流すガス流量を 変化させることができ、効率的にかつ安定した蒸留ができる。
なお、この発明の方法では、第 2蒸留工程においてのみ製品酸素が得られるバッ チ処理となる力 S、 1基の蒸留塔で済み、設備コストを安価に抑えることができるだけで はなぐ希釈ガス使用量を約 1/3にすることもできる。また、起動時における蒸留塔 の冷却に要する時間が短縮され、起動時間が大幅に短縮できる。
実施例
[0029] 図 1に示す構成の濃縮装置を使用して 17〇を濃縮し、年間 0. 5kg (H O換算)製造

するプロセスを計算した。原料酸素は、天然存在比(160 = 99. 759% (原子%、以下 同様)、 17Ο = 0· 037%、 18Ο = 0. 204%)のものを使用するとした。
光反応セルで分解する目的のオゾンの同位体(isotopomer)は16〇16〇170を選択し た。
このオゾンの同位体を分解するためのレーザ光の波長は 992nmを使用するものと した。レーザの出力は 3W、吸収断面積は 3. 0 X 10_23cm2とした。光反応セルの圧 力は 13kPa、温度は 200K、光路長は 30m、セノレ内の滞留時間は 1800秒、光の禾 IJ 用効率は 0. 05、 目的のオゾンの同位体の分解と同時に発生する他のオゾンの同位 体の選択的分解量は、 目的の同位体 1に対し 3. 3であるとした。
このとき製品酸素中に濃縮される 17〇は、 7. 8atom%となった。
産業上の利用可能性
[0030] 本発明によれば、酸素同位体重成分の濃縮において、装置全体をコンパクトにして 設備費用を低減でき、運転操作が安全で、力、つ安定した操業ができる。よって、本発 明は産業上有用である。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 蒸留によって酸素同位体重成分を濃縮する方法であって、
(a)ォゾナイザにより発生したオゾンと酸素とを希釈ガスが充填された蒸留塔に供 給して、酸素とオゾンおよび希釈ガスとに分離する第 1蒸留工程と、
(b)前記蒸留塔の塔頂から酸素を排出する工程と、
(c)前記蒸留塔を減圧する工程と、
(d)前記蒸留塔の塔底からオゾンと希釈ガスの混合ガスを光反応セルに導入し、レ 一ザ光を照射して、酸素同位体重成分を含むオゾンを選択的に分解する光分解ェ 程と、
(e)工程 (d)で得られた酸素同位体重成分を含む酸素と未分解のオゾンとを、前記 蒸留塔に戻して酸素とオゾンおよび希釈ガスとに分離する第 2蒸留工程と、
(f)酸素同位体重成分を含む酸素を前記蒸留塔の塔頂に設けたコンデンサで液化 し、製品酸素として取り出す工程と、
(g)未分解のオゾンを前記蒸留塔から導出し、オゾン分解装置で酸素に分解した 後、再び前記蒸留塔内に戻す工程と、
(h)酸素と希釈ガスとを分離する第 3蒸留工程と、
(i)工程 (h)で分離された酸素を系外に排出する工程とを含み、
第 1ないし第 3蒸留工程を同一の蒸留塔において実施する酸素同位体重成分の濃 縮方法。
[2] 前記工程 (c)を、前記コンデンサの運転条件を変更することにより行う請求項 1記載 の酸素同位体重成分の濃縮方法。
[3] 前記工程 (d)における前記蒸留塔へのガスを戻すための推進力を、蒸留塔底部の 液ヘッドによる圧力差で得る請求項 1記載の酸素同位体重成分の濃縮方法。
[4] 請求項 1ないし 3のいずれかに記載の酸素同位体重成分の濃縮方法を実施するた めの装置であって、
少なくとも、酸素からオゾンを発生させるォゾナイザと、
3つの前記工程 (a) (e) (h)を実施する 1基の蒸留塔と、
酸素同位体重成分を含むオゾンを選択的に分解する光反応セルと、 オゾン分解装置とを備えた酸素同位体重成分の濃縮装置。
前記蒸留塔の塔底部の内径を他部分の内径より小さくした請求項 4記載の酸素同 位体重成分の濃縮装置。
前記蒸留塔の塔底部に、気液分離部を設けた請求項 4または 5記載の酸素同位体 重成分の濃縮装置。
