Abstract

L'invention a pour objet un dispositif rétroviseur pour un véhicule (1 ), comportant au moins une caméra (2) ayant un champ de vision (Xo) couvrant une zone déterminée de l'environnement du véhicule (1 ) et centré sur un axe optique (20, Fz), et un système électronique (3) d'affichage, sur un écran vidéo (4), d'une image (I) de ladite zone de l'environnement enregistrée par la caméra (2). Selon l'invention, la caméra (2) est fixe avec une orientation déterminée de son axe optique (20, Fz) et le système électronique d'affichage (3) comporte des moyens (31 ) de traitement d'image susceptibles, à partir d'une image globale (Io) enregistrée par ladite caméra (2), d'afficher sur l'écran vidéo (4) une image simulée (h) adaptée aux conditions de conduite à un instant déterminé, ladite image simulée (h) étant centrée sur un axe optique virtuel (Fzi) dont l'orientation peut être réglée par rapport à celle de l'axe optique (Fz) de la caméra (2).
