本実施形態に係る可変分光素子 1によれば、反射膜 5どうしが平行に配された状態 で、容量センサ電極 6間の間隔寸法を比較的大きく確保することができる。その結果 、本実施形態に係る可変分光素子 1では、容量センサ電極 6に塵埃が付着したり、容 量センサ電極 6に傷による隆起が形成されたりしても、それによつて反射膜 5どうしの 近接が妨げられるのを防止することができる。
[0025] 本実施形態に係る可変分光素子 1においては、反射膜 5を構成する誘電体多層膜 および容量センサ電極 6を構成する金属膜の厚さ寸法を調節することにより、反射膜 5の表面を容量センサ電極 6の表面より一段高!/、位置に配置することとした。し力、し、 本発明では、これに代えて、以下の方法を採用してもよい。
例えば、図 5に示されるように、光学基板 2, 3の対向面に段差 10を設け、ほぼ等し い厚さ寸法の反射膜 5および容量センサ電極 6をそれぞれ高さの異なる光学基板 2, 3の表面に形成することにしてもよ!/、。
光学基板 2, 3の対向面の中央部に、図 6に示されるように、反射膜 5を底上げする ための SiO等からなるコーティング 11を形成してもよ!/、。

さらに、容量センサ電極 6の干渉による損傷をより確実に防止するために、図 7に示 されるように、容量センサ電極 6の表面に、例えば、 SiO等からなる保護膜 12を設け

てもよい。この場合には、保護膜 12の表面が反射膜 5の表面より低い位置に配される ように構成しておくことで、上記と同様の効果を奏することができる。
以上記述した実施の形態においては、光学基板 2, 3の間隔を検出するためのセン サとして、両光学基板上に形成された容量センサ電極間の静電容量を利用していた 力 本発明に係る分光素子で用いるセンサは、上記実施形態に記載したものに限定 されるものではない。たとえば、光学基板 2, 3の表面上に形成されたそれぞれの電 極間における磁気的な相互誘導を利用する、渦電流型のセンサなどを採用すること も可能である。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 間隔をあけて対向する一対の光学基板と、
該光学基板の対向面にそれぞれ配置され、互いに対向する 2つの反射膜と、 該反射膜と同じ面にそれぞれ配置され、当該光学基板の間隔を検出する間隔セン サを構成する互いに対向する 2つのセンサ電極と、
前記光学基板を相対的に移動させ、当該光学基板間の間隔を変化させるァクチュ エータとを有し、
前記 2つのセンサ電極の対向する表面の間の距離(dl)が前記 2つの反射膜の対 向する表面間の距離 (d2)より大きい可変分光素子。
[2] 前記間隔センサが、前記 2つのセンサ電極間に形成される静電容量を利用して前 記光学基板間の間隔を検出する容量センサである請求項 1に記載の可変分光素子
[3] 前記センサ電極が、前記反射膜に対し相対的に外側に配置されている請求項 1に 記載の可変分光素子。
[4] 前記反射膜の前記間隔側の表面が、前記センサ電極の前記間隔側の表面より、当 該反射膜およびセンサ電極が設けられた前記光学基板の表面に対して遠い位置に 配置されて!/、る請求項 1に記載の可変分光素子。
[5] 前記ァクチユエータは、反射膜の表面どうしの間隔寸法が 211 m以下となる範囲で 前記光学基板間の間隔を変化させる請求項 1に記載の可変分光素子。
[6] 前記センサ電極が、その間隔側の表面にさらに保護膜を備え、
前記反射膜の表面が、前記保護膜の表面より、当該反射膜が設けられた前記光学 基板の表面に対して遠レ、位置に配置されて!/、る請求項 1に記載の可変分光素子。
[7] 前記ァクチユエ一タカ 周方向に間隔をあけて複数設けられ、
各ァクチユエータが独立して駆動制御される請求項 1に記載の可変分光素子。
