Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Sicherheitselement (20) für Sicherheitspapiere, Wertdokumente und dergleichen mit einer Motivschicht (26) auf Basis eines flüssigkristallinen Materials, die zumindest zwei ein Motiv bildende Bereiche (30, 34) mit unterschiedlicher Orientierung des flüssigkristallinen Materials und mit unterschiedlicher Polarisationswirkung aufweist. Erfindungsgemäß ist dabei vorgesehen, dass das flüssigkristalline Material der Motivschicht (26) in einem ersten der motivbildenden Bereiche (30) homogen orientiert ist, und in einem zweiten der motivbildenden Bereiche (34) isotrop oder homöotrop orientiert ist, so dass das von den beiden Bereichen (30, 34) gebildete Motiv insbesondere bei Betrachtung durch einen Polarisator erkennbar ist.
