Abstract

 フレームレート変換(FRC)部を備えた画像表示装置において、複数枚の同一画像が連続する可能性のある動画像でのFRC処理に起因する画質劣化を防止する。画像表示装置のFRC部100は、入力画像信号から動きベクトル情報を検出する動きベクトル検出部101と、動きベクトル検出部101により得られた動きベクトル情報に基づいて内挿フレームを生成する内挿フレーム生成部106と、入力画像信号において同一画像が連続した場合にそれを検出する同一画像検出部105とを備える。入力画像信号におけるn-1フレーム目の画像とnフレーム目の画像とが略同一であった場合、nフレーム目とn+1フレーム目との間に対しては、動き補償処理を無効化した内挿画像生成処理を行うことで、エラーを多く含む内挿画像が出力されることを防ぐ。
