Abstract

 タンディッシュの上ノズルからスライディングゲートを経て浸漬ノズルに至る溶鋼経路を有し、その全体または一部が一方の電極を構成し、溶鋼経路の内面と、溶鋼経路の内部を通過する溶鋼との間に電位差を与えて通電する鋼の連続鋳造方法において、前記一方の電極を構成する耐火物を除く他の部位に対極を設けて、溶鋼経路との間に通電回路を構成し、溶鋼経路の極性と対極の極性とが1~100msの周期で入れ替わり、かつ、平均電流または平均電圧により定義される溶鋼経路の極性が陰極となるように電流または電圧を制御して通電する鋼の連続鋳造方法である。これにより、タンディッシュから浸漬ノズルに至る溶鋼経路の閉塞を防止し、安定した連続鋳造を行うことができる。上記の連続鋳造方法においては、平均電流密度が3~200A/m2であり、極性がパルス状の波形で変化して入れ替わることが好ましい。
