Abstract

 本発明は、駆動電圧の範囲を小さく抑えながら液晶印加電圧の絶対値の最大値と最小値との差が大きくなるよう駆動できる補助容量線を駆動する液晶表示装置を提供するものであって、本液晶表示装置では、補助容量線駆動信号Cs(n)、映像信号S(m)、および共通電位Vcomの電圧範囲を0Vから4Vまでと同じく小さく抑えながら、共通電位Vcomを1走査期間毎に反転駆動させ、かつ補助容量線駆動信号Cs(n)の電位を走査信号G(n)の立ち下がり時に共通電位Vcomと同方向に立ち上げてそのまま次のフレームまで維持する。この構成により、液晶印加電圧の絶対値の最大値を印加電圧の実効値である5V程度にすることができ、またその最小値を印加電圧の実効値である1.5V程度にすることができるので、その差を大きくすることができる。
