Abstract

 二つの端面の間を連通する複数のセルを区画形成する多孔質の隔壁と、当該隔壁と一体的に形成された外周壁とを有するハニカム構造体である。前記セルは、前記ハニカム構造体の最外周部に位置し、その一部が前記外周壁と接触している不完全なセル断面を有する最外周部パーシャルセルと、当該最外周部パーシャルセル以外の完全なセル断面を有する完全セルとからなる。前記完全セルは、前記ハニカム構造体の端面が市松模様を呈するような目封止パターンで、その一端部に目封止部が形成されている。前記最外周部パーシャルセルは、前記目封止パターンにより目封止すべき最外周部パーシャルセルの内、一部のセルについてはその全長に渡って閉塞されるよう前記外周壁と一体的に形成され、残余のセルについてはその一端部のみ目封止部が形成されている。
