Abstract

【課題】反応ガスの拡散性、電極反応で生成した水の除去などを阻害せずに保水性を高め、低加湿条件下でも高い発電特性を示す電極触媒層を備える膜電極接合体を提供すること、及びその製造方法を提供することを課題とする。 【解決手段】高分子電解質膜を一対の電極触媒層で狭持した膜電極接合体であって、前記電極触媒層は高分子電解質および触媒物質を担持した粒子を備え、且つ、前記電極触媒層において{(高分子電解質の質量)/(触媒物質を担持した粒子中の粒子の質量)}で示される高分子電解質の比率が、外側である電極触媒層表面から内側である前記高分子電解質膜に向かって減少していることを特徴とする膜電極接合体とした。
