Abstract

 増感用の色素が吸着した半導体微粒子などからなる半導体電極(3)と対極(5)との間に電解質層(6)を有する色素増感光電変換素子において、色素として二種類の色素を用い、この二種類の色素を半導体電極(3)の表面の互いに異なる部位に吸着させる。半導体微粒子はTiO2 などからなる。二種類の色素としては、例えば、トリス(イソチオシアナート)-ルテニウム(II)-2,2' :6' ,2'' -ターピリジン-4,4' ,4''-トリカルボン酸および2-Cyano-3-[4-[4-(2,2-diphenylethenyl)phenyl]-1,2,3,3a,4,8b-hexahydrocyclopent[b]indol-7-yl]- 2-propenoic acid を用いる。これにより、純度の高い一種類の色素を用いる場合よりも高い光吸収率および光電変換効率を得ることができる色素増感太陽電池などの色素増感光電変換素子およびその製造方法を提供する。
