Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine.
  • the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine is branched into two, and each of the branched exhaust passages is provided with an occlusion reduction type NO x catalyst (hereinafter referred to as NO x catalyst), and the branched exhaust passages are joined together.
  • NO x catalyst occlusion reduction type NO x catalyst
  • a particulate filter (hereinafter referred to as “fill”) is provided downstream of the position where the exhaust gas is to be recirculated, and when the filter is regenerated, the exhaust of the rich air-fuel ratio is passed through one NO x catalyst, and the other NO x catalyst.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a technology capable of suppressing overheating of an exhaust purification catalyst provided upstream of the filter while promptly raising the temperature of the filter during regeneration of the engine in an engine exhaust purification device.
  • an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention employs the following means. That is, the exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention is
  • An exhaust passage that branches into a plurality at a branching portion and joins at a joining portion downstream of the branching portion;
  • An exhaust purification catalyst provided in each of the exhaust passages between the branch portion and the merging portion;
  • a particulate filter that is provided in an exhaust passage downstream of the merging portion and carries a catalyst having oxidation ability, or provided upstream with a catalyst having oxidation ability;
  • Reducing agent supply means for supplying a reducing agent to the respective exhaust passages downstream from the branch and upstream from the exhaust purification catalyst;
  • the reducing agent When regenerating the particulate filter, the reducing agent is supplied from one reducing agent supply means and passes through one exhaust purification catalyst provided in an exhaust passage to which the reducing agent is supplied. It is characterized in that the amount of exhaust is made smaller than the amount of exhaust that passes through other exhaust purification catalysts.
  • the reducing agent that has not reacted with the one exhaust purification catalyst flows into the Patiquile filter.
  • the exhaust gas flowing out from the other exhaust purification catalyst contains a large amount of oxygen.
  • oxygen will also flow into the particulate curry. That is, since the reducing agent and oxygen flow into the particulate filter, the reducing agent and oxygen are carried on the particulate filter or generate heat by the catalyst having the oxidizing ability provided upstream. As a result, the temperature of the Patrickle filter can be raised. In other words, it is possible to increase the temperature of the Patikure Ichijo concertc while suppressing the temperature increase of the exhaust purification catalyst.
  • the amount of exhaust gas passing through the one exhaust purification catalyst can be reduced until the amount of the reducing agent adhering to the one exhaust purification catalyst becomes equal to or less than the threshold value.
  • a reducing agent may be attached to the exhaust purification catalyst provided in the exhaust passage to which the reducing agent is supplied.
  • the reducing agent and oxygen react together at the same exhaust purification catalyst.
  • the one exhaust purification catalyst may be overheated.
  • the reducing agent adhering to the exhaust purification catalyst gradually evaporates even when the amount of exhaust gas passing through the exhaust purification catalyst is reduced, so that it decreases with time. Then, by increasing the amount of exhaust gas after the reducing agent adhering to one exhaust purification catalyst has decreased, overheating of the exhaust purification catalyst can be suppressed.
  • the threshold value can be the amount of reducing agent that does not overheat the exhaust purification catalyst when the amount of exhaust gas passing through one exhaust purification catalyst is restored. It should be noted that the amount of reducing agent adhered so that the exhaust purification catalyst does not overheat when the amount of exhaust is increased. It is also possible to obtain in advance a period until the value becomes, and to set this period as a period for reducing the amount of exhaust gas passing through the one exhaust purification catalyst.
  • the exhaust purification catalyst is configured to include an NOx storage reduction catalyst, and regeneration of the particulate filter is performed when NOx stored in the one exhaust purification catalyst is reduced. Can be done.
  • This NOx storage reduction catalyst absorbs NOx in the exhaust when the oxygen concentration in the inflowing exhaust gas is high, and stores the NOx in the exhaust gas when the oxygen concentration in the inflowing exhaust gas is low and a reducing agent is present.
  • the soot of exhaust gas passing through the one exhaust purification catalyst can be reduced so that the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere of the one exhaust purification catalyst becomes a predetermined value or less.
  • the predetermined value can be an oxygen amount that can suppress overheating of one exhaust purification catalyst regardless of the amount of reducing agent supplied.
  • the adjusting means includes an adjusting valve that is provided in each of the exhaust passages between the branching portion and the merging portion and that adjusts a cross-sectional area of the exhaust passage.
  • the reduction in the amount of exhaust passing through the The supply of the reducing agent by the one reducing agent supply means can be started during the period from when the control valve starts to close until it is fully closed.
  • the reducing agent if the reducing agent is supplied into the exhaust gas by the one reducing agent supply means after the amount of the exhaust gas passing through the one exhaust purification catalyst is reduced, the reducing agent reaches the one exhaust purification catalyst. Takes time. As a result, the time required for the regeneration of the particulate curry is increased.
  • the particulate filter can be quickly regenerated by reducing the amount of exhaust gas that passes through the one exhaust purification catalyst. Then, by supplying the reducing agent by the one reducing agent supply means between the time when the control valve starts to close and the time when the regulating valve is fully closed, the time until the reducing agent reaches the one exhaust purification catalyst is shortened. At the same time, the amount of oxygen when the reducing agent reaches can be reduced. This makes it possible to quickly regenerate the particulate fill while suppressing overheating of the exhaust purification catalyst.
  • the supply of the reducing agent from the reducing agent supply means is performed at equal intervals while being divided into a plurality of times, and the supply amount of each of the divided reducing agents can be reduced to a predetermined amount or less.
  • the supply of the reducing agent is divided into a plurality of times, the supply amount per time is reduced as much as possible, and the supply of the reducing agent is performed at regular intervals, whereby the vaporization of the reducing agent can be promoted.
  • the amount of reducing agent adhering to the same exhaust purification catalyst as a liquid is reduced. That is, the amount of reducing agent that passes without adhering to one exhaust purification catalyst increases. Then, since the amount of reducing agent adhering to one exhaust purification catalyst is reduced, the amount of reducing agent that reacts when the amount of exhaust gas passing through one exhaust purification catalyst increases thereafter is reduced. be able to.
  • thermal deterioration of the exhaust purification catalyst proceeds.
  • the particulate filter is regenerated by sequentially supplying a reducing agent from one exhaust purification catalyst to the other exhaust purification catalyst, the degree of progress of thermal deterioration of each exhaust purification catalyst can be determined for each particulate filter. The same level can be achieved with a filter. As a result, the purification capacity of the entire system can be kept higher.
  • the one reducing agent supply means is provided with another exhaust purification catalyst even if the reducing agent vaporizes when the reducing agent is supplied and the exhaust passage backflows. Reducing agent can be supplied to places that do not reach.
  • the reducing agent when the reducing agent is supplied into the exhaust, a part of the reducing agent is vaporized by the heat of the exhaust, and the volume of the reducing agent expands. At this time, since the amount of exhaust gas passing through the exhaust purification catalyst is reduced, the expanded reducing agent may flow backward in the exhaust passage. When the expanded reducing agent reaches the branch portion, the reducing agent flows into the exhaust passage in which another exhaust purification catalyst is provided. In other exhaust purification catalysts, since the amount of oxygen passing through is not reduced, the amount of oxygen passing therethrough is large, so the reducing agent that has flowed in reacts. Therefore, the amount of reducing agent that reaches the particulate filter is reduced, and the time required for regeneration of the particulate filter is increased.
  • the reducing agent supplied by the one reducing agent supply means does not reach the exhaust passage where the other exhaust purification catalyst is provided. Take a sufficiently long distance from the branch. Thereby, it is possible to suppress the reducing agent from passing through another exhaust purification catalyst.
