Abstract

　本発明のバックライト（照明装置）（２）は、光源（５）と、該光源からの光を拡散させて面発光させる導光体（７）との組み合わせて構成される導光体ユニット（１１）を複数個備えている。各導光体（７・７…）は、発光面（７ａ）を有する発光部（７ｂ）と、該発光部へ光源（５）からの光を導く導光部（７ｃ）とを有し、一方の導光体（７）の導光部（７ｃ）に、該一方の導光体に隣り合う他方の導光体（７）の発光部（７ｂ）が乗り上げるように配置されている。発光面（７ａ）は、照射対象に対して水平な水平面（７ｄ）と、該水平面（７ｄ）と導光部（７ｃ）との間に設けられ、照射対象に対して傾斜した傾斜面（７ｅ）とから構成されており、傾斜面（７ｅ）は、水平面（７ｄ）に対する傾斜面の傾きを連続的に変化させることによって、該傾斜面を水平面に連続させる曲面となっている。これにより、光源からの光をより均一に出射することのできる照明装置を提供する。
