 下記一般式(I)で表される新規インドリウム化合物及び該インドリウム化合物を用いた光学記録材料。 (式中、環Aはベンゼン環等を表し、R1は一般式(II)で表わされる基等を表し、R2は炭素原子数1~30の有機基等を表し、Y1は炭素原子数1~10のアルキル基等を表し、Z1はハロゲン基で置換されてもよく、-O-等で中断されてもよい炭素原子数1~8のアルキル基等を表し、Z2はハロゲン基で置換されてもよく、-O-等で中断されてもよい炭素原子数1~8のアルキル基等を表し、aは0~6の整数を表し、bは0~5の整数を表し、Anq-はq価のアニオンを表し、qは1又は2を表し、pは電荷を中性に保つ係数を表す。)
