Abstract

　膝保護用エアバッグ装置のエアバッグの膨張展開速度を速くして乗員の膝を保護し得る位置まで早期に展開させ、乗員の保護機能を向上させる。 　エアバッグ（１０）を、平らに展開した状態から、先端部（１０Ｓ）をエアバッグ（１０）内に押し込むようにして折り込む第１工程、エアバッグ（１０）の左右両端（１０Ｍ）側を互いに接近する方向に向けて、車体側となる車体側基布（１２）側にロール折りする第２工程、及び、エアバッグ（１０）の展開方向（Ｆ）の先端側を基端部（１０Ｔ）に向けて車体側基布（１２）側にロール折りする第３工程を順次経て折り畳む。折り畳んだエアバッグ（１０）を、インフレータ（２）と共にケース内に収納し、その基端部（１０Ｔ）をケースに固定してエアバッグ装置（１）を製造し、車両の乗員の膝よりも前方となる位置に取り付ける。
