Abstract

Beansprucht wird ein superabsorbierendes Polymer (SAP) mit anionischen und/oder kationischen Eigenschaften, und einer zeitlich verzögerten Quellungswirkung, welches durch Polymerisation ethylenisch ungesättigter Vinylverbindungen hergestellt wurde. Dieses SAP ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass seine Quellung nach frühestens 5 Minuten beginnt und dass es hergestellt wurde mit Hilfe mindestens einer Verfahrensvariante, ausgewählt aus der Reihe a) Polymerisation der Monomer-Komponenten in Gegenwart einer Kombination bestehend aus mindestens einem hydrolysestabilen und mindestens einem hydrolyselabilen Vernetzer; b) Polymerisation von mindestens einem permanent anionischen Monomer und mindestens einem hydrolysierbaren kationischen Monomer; c) Beschichtung einer Kernpolymer-Komponente mit mindestens einem weiteren Polyelektrolyten als Hüllpolymer; d) Polymerisation von mindestens einem hydrolysestabilen Monomer mit mindestens einem hydrolyselabilen Monomer in Gegenwart mindestens eines Vernetzers. Aufgrund der Variabilität der drei Herstellungsalternativen bezüglich der Ausgangsmaterialien und der Verfahrensbedingungen, aber auch wegen der Kombinationsmöglichkeiten untereinander sind mit der vorliegenden Erfindung superabsorbierende Polymere zugänglich, die sich insbesondere für die Verwendung in Schäumen, Formkörpern und Fasern, aber auch als Träger für Pflanzen- und Pilzwachstums-regulierende Mittel sowie zur kontrollierten Freisetzung von Wirkstoffen oder in Baustoffen eignen. Insbesondere für den Einsatz als Baustoffadditive sind die vorliegenden Polymere geeignet.
