Abstract

 本発明は、反射電力によるマイクロ波発生部の破損を確実に防止し、加熱室内の被加熱部を高効率で加熱することができるマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法を提供することを目的として、電力検出部(4)からの反射電力信号と供給電力信号が入力される制御部(1)が、加熱室(7)内の被加熱物(15)に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、加熱動作時に給電部(5)に供給される定格供給電力より低い周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、最小の反射電力となる発振周波数を設定し、発振部(2)の発振周波数と電力増幅部(3)の出力を制御するよう構成されている。

Description

マイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法
 本発明は、半導体素子を用いて構成したマイクロ波発生部を備えたマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法に関するものである。
 近年、従来のマイクロ波発生部として一般的に用いられていたマグネトロンに代えて、半導体素子を用いたマイクロ波発生部が提案されている。このような半導体素子を用いたマイクロ波発生部は、小型で安価に構成することができるとともに、発生するマイクロ波の周波数を容易に調整することができるという利点を有する。
 加熱室内に供給されたマイクロ波電力が被加熱物において100%吸収されると、加熱室側からアンテナを介してマイクロ波発生部側へ戻ってくる反射電力は零になる。加熱室側からマイクロ波発生部側に伝送される反射電力は、マイクロ波発生部の出力インピーダンスと加熱室のインピーダンスとに基づいて発生する。被加熱物の種類、形状、量、及び加熱室内の被加熱物の位置などの多くの条件により被加熱物を含む加熱室の電気的特性が変化し、加熱室の電気的特性は常に異なっている。このため、加熱室内の被加熱物において常に全てのマイクロ波電力が吸収されることはなく、反射電力は発生する。
 マイクロ波加熱装置においては、反射電力の影響を排除するために、アイソレータを用いることが一般的であった。例えば、日本の特開2006-128075号公報参照。このようにアイソレータを用いたマイクロ波加熱装置は、確実に反射電力の影響を排除することができ、マイクロ波発生部の半導体素子が反射電力により破壊されない構成となっていた。
 特開昭56-96486号公報には、実際の加熱動作を行う前に、所定の周波数帯域間でマイクロ波の周波数が掃引され、その周波数帯域間で反射電力が最小となる発振周波数を記憶する構成のマイクロ波加熱装置が開示されている。このマイクロ波加熱装置は、実際の加熱動作において、予め記憶されていた発振周波数のマイクロ波を加熱室内のアンテナから放射して、加熱室内の加熱対象である被加熱物を加熱していた。このように構成することにより、この従来の高周波加熱装置においては電力変換効率の向上を図っていた。

 マイクロ波発生部として半導体素子を用いたマイクロ波加熱装置において、アイソレータを用いて反射電力による半導体素子の破壊を防止した構成の場合、アイソレータは非常に高価であり、嵩の大きな部品であるため、装置の大型化及び経済性の観点から好ましいものではなかった。したがって、マイクロ波発生部としてマグネトロンを用いた従来のマイクロ波加熱装置は、反射電力に対して堅牢であり、且つ安価であるため、使用者にとっては購入しやすく利便性の高いものであった。
 また、マイクロ波発生部として半導体素子を用いたマイクロ波加熱装置においては、実際の加熱動作を行う前段階において、所定の周波数帯域間で反射電力が最小となる周波数を探査して記憶し、その記憶された周波数により加熱動作を行っているものがある。しかし、このようなマイクロ波加熱装置においては、加熱中に負荷の状態が変化し、反射電力の振る舞いが変化した状況においても、予め記憶された周波数により加熱動作を行うため、反射電力が半導体素子を破壊するおそれがある値であったり、加熱動作中における反射電力の変化には対応できない構成であった。
 本発明の目的は、反射電力によるマイクロ波発生部の破損を確実に防止し、加熱室内の被加熱部を効率高く加熱することができるマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法を提供することである。

 本発明に係る第1の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、被加熱物を収容する加熱室、
 所定の周波数帯域内の発振周波数の信号を出力する発振部、
 前記発振部の出力を電力増幅する電力増幅部、
 前記電力増幅部の出力を前記加熱室に供給する給電部、
 前記加熱室から前記給電部を介して前記電力増幅部に反射する反射電力と前記電力増幅部から前記給電部に供給される供給電力とを検出する電力検出部、及び
 前記電力検出部からの反射電力信号と供給電力信号が入力されて、前記発振部の発振周波数と前記電力増幅部の出力を制御する制御部を備え、
 前記制御部は、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、加熱動作時に前記給電部に供給される定格供給電力より低い周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して最小反射電力を探査し、前記最小反射電力に応じて加熱時に前記給電部に供給する給電電力を調整し、前記周波数掃引動作において最小反射電力を示した発振周波数にて加熱動作を行うよう構成されている。このように構成された第1の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、反射電力の反射エネルギーによるマイクロ波発生部の破損を確実に防止し、被加熱部を高い加熱効率で加熱することができる。
 本発明に係る第2の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、前記の第1の観点における前記制御部が、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、供給電力に対する反射電力の反射比率が最小値となる発振周波数を決定し、決定された発振周波数における最小反射電力に応じて前記給電部に供給される給電電力を調整するよう構成されている。このように構成された第2の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、反射電力が大きい時には加熱出力を低下させ、逆に反射電力が小さい時には加熱出力を上昇させて定格出力により加熱することが可能となる。このため、本発明のマイクロ波加熱装置は、アイソレータを用いずともパワーユニットである電力増幅部に用いている半導体素子が加熱動作中に反射電力の反射エネルギーにより破壊されることが防止されている。
 本発明に係る第3の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、前記の第2の観点における前記制御部が、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作開始後において、加熱動作を所定時間中断して、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行し、供給電力に対する反射電力の反射比率が最小値となる発振周波数を再決定し、再決定された発振周波数における最小反射電力に応じて前記給電部に供給される給電電力を調整するよう構成されている。このように構成された第3の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、反射比率が小さい時には加熱出力を大きくして定格出力で加熱し、逆に反射比率が大きい時には加熱出力を小さくして、アイソレータを用いずとも、パワーユニットである電力増幅部の半導体素子が加熱動作中に反射エネルギーで破壊されるのを確実に防止することができる。
 本発明に係る第4の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、前記の第1の観点における前記制御部が、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前の周波数掃引動作の実行により決定された発振周波数による加熱動作の開始後において、加熱動作を中断して前記周波数掃引動作を再実行して、前記電力検出部により検出された最小反射電力となる発振周波数を再決定して、再決定された発振周波数にて加熱動作に移行するよう構成してもよい。このように構成された第4の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、加熱動作前に周波数掃引動作により、反射電力が最小となる動作条件を探査して、その探査結果に基づいて加熱動作を行うため、電力増幅器に過大な反射電力の反射エネルギーが入力されることを未然に防止して、反射電力による発熱により電力増幅器が損傷するのを防止し、高効率な加熱動作を実現できる。また、例えば、被加熱物が冷凍食品の場合のように、被加熱物の解凍によって加熱室のインピーダンスが大きく異なった場合でも、加熱動作停止中に再度最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、被加熱物の状態に応じて、常に高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明に係る第5の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、前記の第4の観点における前記制御部が、加熱動作と、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を予め設定された時間間隔で繰り返して行うよう構成してもよい。このように構成された第5の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、被加熱物の状態により、例えば被加熱物の解凍によって加熱室のインピーダンスが大きく異なった場合でも、所定時間が経過する毎に最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、被加熱物の状態に応じて高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明に係る第6の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、前記の第4の観点における前記制御部が、加熱動作開始後において、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を、前記電力検出部により検出された反射電力が予め決められた閾値以上となったときに行うよう構成してもよい。このように構成された第6の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、被加熱物の状態により加熱室のインピーダンスが大きく異なって反射電力が大きくなった場合でも、加熱動作停止中に再度最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、被加熱物の状態に応じて高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明に係る第7の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、前記の第6の観点における前記制御部が、予め設定された時間内において電力検出部により検出された反射電力が閾値以上にならなったとき、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行するよう構成してもよい。このように構成された第7の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、加熱動作中において反射電力が閾値以上とならない場合であっても、加熱室のインピーダンスの変化を考慮して、加熱動作を停止して再度最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明に係る第8の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、前記の第1の観点乃至第7の観点において、前記発振部の出力を分配して複数の電力増幅部に供給する電力分配部をさらに備え、前記複数の電力増幅部からの出力が複数の給電部にそれぞれ供給されて前記加熱室にマイクロ波を放射するよう構成してもよい。このように構成された第8の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、複数の給電部からマイクロ波を加熱室内に放射する構成となるため、マイクロ波を加熱室の内部空間で合成することになる。この結果、第8の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、複数の給電部により加熱室に対して集中給電して高出力を得ることができるとともに、複数の給電部を加熱室に分散配置することができるため、外観を構成する筐体と加熱室との間の空間を有効活用して、構成部品を効率高く配置して小型化を図ることができる。
 本発明に係る第9の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、前記の第1の観点乃至第7の観点において、前記発振部の出力を分配して複数の電力増幅部に供給する電力分配部と、
 前記複数の電力増幅部に供給するマイクロ波電力の位相を可変する位相制御部と、
をさらに備え、前記複数の電力増幅部からの出力が複数の給電部にそれぞれ供給されて前記加熱室にマイクロ波を放射するよう構成してもよい。このように構成された第9の観点のマイクロ波加熱装置は、複数の給電部からマイクロ波を加熱室内に放射し、かつ、給電部間の位相差を可変することができる構成となる。このように位相差を可変することにより、電磁界分布を自由に形成することが可能となり、被加熱物における特定の部位を選択的に加熱することができる。

 本発明に係る第10の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、発振部により所定の周波数帯域内の発振周波数の信号を出力するステップ、
 前記電力増幅部により前記発振部の出力を電力増幅するステップ、
 給電部により前記電力増幅部の出力を前記加熱室に供給するステップ、
 電力検出部により前記加熱室側から前記給電部を介して前記電力増幅部に反射する反射電力と前記電力増幅部から前記給電部に供給される供給電力とを検出するステップ、及び
 制御部により前記電力検出部からの反射電力信号と供給電力信号が入力されて、前記発振部の発振周波数と前記電力増幅部の出力を制御するステップを有し、
 加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、加熱動作時に加熱室内の被加熱物に対してマイクロ波出力される定格供給電力より低い周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して最小反射電力を探査するステップと、
 前記最小反射電力に応じて加熱時に前記給電部に供給する給電電力を調整するステップと、
 前記周波数掃引動作において最小反射電力を示した発振周波数にて加熱動作を実行するステップと、を含む。このように構成された第10の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、反射電力によるマイクロ波発生部の破損を確実に防止し、加熱室内の被加熱部を高い加熱効率で加熱することができる。
 本発明に係る第11の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、前記の第10の観点において、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、供給電力に対する反射電力に反射比率が最小値となる発振周波数を決定するステップと、
 決定された発振周波数における最小反射電力に応じて前記給電部に供給される給電電力を調整するステップと、を有する。このように構成された第11の観点のマイクロ波加熱装方法、反射電力が大きい時には加熱出力を低下させ、逆に反射電力が小さい時には加熱出力を上昇させて定格出力により加熱することが可能となる。このため、第11の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、アイソレータを用いずともパワーユニットである電力増幅部に用いている半導体素子が加熱動作中に反射電力の反射エネルギーにより破壊されることが防止されている。
 本発明に係る第12の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、前記の第10の観点において、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、前記電力検出部によって検出される反射電力が最小となる発振周波数を決定するステップと、
 決定された発振周波数による加熱動作の開始後において、加熱動作を中断して前記周波数掃引動作を実行して、前記電力検出部により検出された最小反射電力となる発振周波数を再決定するステップと、
 再決定された発振周波数にて加熱動作に移行するステップと、を有する。このように構成された第12の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、反射比率が小さい時には加熱出力を大きくして定格出力で加熱し、逆に反射比率が大きい時には加熱出力を小さくして、アイソレータを用いずとも、パワーユニットである電力増幅部の半導体素子が加熱動作中に反射エネルギーで破壊されるのを防止することができる。
 本発明に係る第13の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、前記の第12の観点において、加熱動作と、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を予め設定された時間間隔で繰り返して行ってもよい。このように構成された第13の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、被加熱物の状態により、例えば被加熱物の解凍によって加熱室のインピーダンスが大きく異なった場合でも、所定時間が経過する毎に最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、被加熱物の状態に応じて高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明に係る第14の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、前記の第12の観点において、加熱動作開始後において、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を、前記電力検出部により検出された反射電力が予め決められた閾値以上となったときに行ってもよい。このように構成された第14の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、被加熱物の状態により加熱室のインピーダンスが大きく異なって反射電力が大きくなった場合でも、加熱動作停止中に再度最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、被加熱物の状態に応じて高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明に係る第15の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、前記の第12の観点において、予め設定された時間内において電力検出部により検出された反射電力が閾値以上にならなかったとき、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行してもよい。このように構成された第15の観点のマイクロ波加熱方法は、加熱動作中において反射電力が閾値以上とならない場合であっても、加熱動作を停止して再度最適な発振周波数の設定を行うため、被加熱物の状態に応じて高効率な加熱動作を実現することができる。
 本発明によれば、周波数掃引動作によって反射電力が最小となる動作条件を探査して、加熱動作中の過大な反射電力の反射エネルギーによるマイクロ波発生部の破損を確実に防止することができるとともに、高い加熱効率を実現することができるマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法を提供することができる。

 以下、本発明のマイクロ波加熱装置に係る実施の形態として電子レンジについて、添付の図面を参照しながら説明する。なお、本発明のマイクロ波加熱装置は、以下の実施の形態に記載した電子レンジの構成に限定されるものではなく、以下の実施の形態において説明する技術的思想と同等の技術的思想及び当技術分野における技術常識に基づいて構成されるマイクロ波加熱装置を含むものである。
 (実施の形態1)
 図1は、本発明に係る実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置としての電子レンジにおける給電径路の主要な構成を示すブロック図である。図1において、半導体素子を用いて構成された発振部2は、所定の周波数帯域(例えば、2400MHz~2500MHz)内の発振周波数の信号を出力する。パワーユニットである電力増幅部3は、発振部2からのマイクロ波電力を増幅する機能を有する複数の半導体素子を用いて構成されている。
 発振部2及び電力増幅部3はマイクロ波の周波数帯域の電力フローであるが、発振部2から出力される電力は比較的小さな電力である。発振部2から電力増幅部3に入力される電力は数mW以下の小電力であり、電力増幅部3において電力増幅されて、電力検出部4を介してアンテナである給電部5に約1000Wの電力が供給可能である。
 電力検出部4は、電力増幅部3からのマイクロ波出力を透過して給電部5に供給しており、電力検出部4を透過した透過電力を検出している。この透過電力は、給電部5から加熱室7内に放射される入射波の供給電力である。また、電力検出部4は、加熱室側から給電部5を介して電力増幅部3に戻ってくる反射波の反射電力を検出する。このように電力検出部4においては、給電部5に供給される供給電力信号Pf、及び加熱室側から給電部5が受け取った反射電力信号Prを検出する。電源部6は、いわゆる絶縁型AC-DCコンバータで構成されており、電力増幅部3に供給する電源電圧Vdd、およびアースラインGNDを形成している。
 制御部1は、電力検出部4からの供給電力信号Pf及び反射電力信号Prが入力されて、供給電力信号Pfに対する反射電力信号Prの反射比率(Pr/Pf)を算出している。また、制御部1は、反射比率(Pr/Pf)の算出結果に基づいて、発振部2の周波数を変化させる周波数制御信号Cfを発振部2に出力し、出力電力を変化させる電力制御信号Cpを電力増幅部3に出力している。なお、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、供給電力信号Pfと反射電力信号Prの反射比率(Pr/Pf)として、供給電力信号Pfにおける供給電圧Vfと、反射電力信号Prにおける反射電圧Vrとを検出し、その比率(Vr/Vf)を反射比率として算出して、発振部2に対する周波数制御信号Cf及び電力増幅部3に対する電力制御信号Cpを形成した例で説明する。電力増幅部3の詳細については別図面にて後述する。給電部5は、マイクロ波を放射するためのアンテナであり、電力増幅部3において増幅されたマイクロ波電力を加熱室7内に供給している。
 実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、上記のように、電力増幅部3において増幅されたマイクロ波が電力検出部4を通じて伝播され、給電部5から加熱室7内に放射される。実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置では、アンテナである給電部5が加熱室7の底面に配設されており、電力検出部4が加熱室7の外側における底面側に配置されている。電力検出部4と給電部5とは、加熱室7の底面に形成された小径の開口を介して連結されている。
 実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置におけるマイクロ波発生部20としては、制御部1、発振部2、電力増幅部3、電力検出部4及び給電部5が含まれる。
 電力増幅部3において増幅されたマイクロ波は、電力検出部4を経由してアンテナである給電部5に供給され、この給電部5から加熱室7に放射される。放射されたマイクロ波は、加熱室7の内部に固定された載置台16の上に載置された被加熱物15に吸収されて、使用者が設定した加熱条件で被加熱物15に対して誘電加熱を行う。
 次に、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置におけるパワーユニットである電力増幅部3について図2を用いて説明する。図2は、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置における電力増幅部3の構成を示すブロック図である。
 電力増幅部3は、低誘電損失材料により構成された誘電体基板の片面に形成した導電体パターンを用いた回路に複数の半導体素子を設けて構成されている。発振部2から出力された微弱なマイクロ波は、前段プリアンプ8、中段プリアンプ9、及び後段プリアンプ10のそれぞれにおいて10dB程度ずつ増幅され、約10Wの大きな電力まで増幅される。前段プリアンプ8、中段プリアンプ9、及び後段プリアンプ10で構成された増幅部分をドライバー部11と称する。
 ドライバー部11の後段にある出力部12は、大きな電力(約10W)が入力されて、その電力を増幅するため、第1のファイナルアンプ13と第2のファイナルアンプ14の並列接続で構成されている。この出力部12においては、約20dBのゲインを必要としているため、第1のファイナルアンプ13と第2のファイナルアンプ14の並列接続により、その機能を達成している。上記のように構成された電力増幅部3においては、マイクロ波を増幅する増幅素子である半導体素子を良好に動作させるべく、各半導体素子の入力側と出力側にそれぞれ整合回路が設けられている。
 次に、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置の概略構成を、図3を用いて説明する。図3は、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置の概略構成を示す図である。なお、図3においては図1に示した電源部6は省略している。
 図3に示すように、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置は、被加熱物15を収納するための略直方体構造を持つ加熱室7を有している。加熱室7は、金属材料により天井面、底面、左側面、右側面及び背面を構成する壁板と、被加熱物15を出し入れするために開閉する開閉扉(図示なし)と、被加熱物15を載置するための載置台16とにより構成されている。このように構成された加熱室7は、開閉扉を閉じることにより、加熱室内に供給されたマイクロ波が加熱室内部に閉じ込められる構成である。
 次に、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置における加熱動作について説明する。
 被加熱物15に対する一般的なマイクロ波加熱においては、定格高周波出力は700W~1000W程度の範囲である。実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、高周波出力を定格高周波出力として700W~1000Wの範囲で可変できる構成である。
 加熱室7内においてマイクロ波加熱される被加熱物15としては、ポップコーンのような極めて含水量の少ない軽負荷から、キャセロールを用いた煮込み料理の中負荷、及び大きな七面鳥のような大負荷まで、千差万別である。さらには、使用者の誤操作により、加熱室7内に被加熱物のない無負荷の状態で使用される場合もある。このように、給電部5から見た加熱室7内のインピーダンスは、使用状況に応じて大きな幅を持って変化する。また、冷凍食品を解凍する場合などにおいては、氷の誘電率が低いため空の状態に近いインピーダンスになる場合がある。
 例えば、電子レンジの許容周波数帯域(例えば、2400MHz~2500MHz)における供給電圧Vfに対する反射電圧Vrの反射比率(Vr/Vf)は、負荷の種類に応じて大きく変化する。
 マイクロ波加熱装置としての電子レンジを用いて、負荷の種類を変化させて、許容周波数帯域内(2400MHz~2500MHz)における供給電圧Vfに対する反射電圧Vrの反射比率(Vr/Vf)の変化に関するシミュレーション実験を行った。
 図4は、各種負荷に対する、電子レンジの許容周波数帯域内(2400MHz~2500MHz)における供給電圧Vfに対する反射電圧Vrの反射比率(Vr/Vf)の変化を示している。このシミュレーション実験においては、大負荷として水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物の場合を曲線Aで示し、中負荷として水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物の場合を曲線Bで示し、そして小負荷として水90ccの負荷相当の被加熱物の場合を曲線Cで示した。なお、このシミュレーション実験においては、電力検出部4を透過して給電部5に供給されるマイクロ波の供給電力は10Wの小電力で略一定とし、許容周波数帯域内で周波数掃引動作を行って所定時間毎に、そのときの周波数における反射電力を計測した。
 図4のグラフに示されているように、許容周波数帯域内の反射比率(Vr/Vf)において、使用者が一般的に用いる負荷である比較的大負荷の水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合を、曲線Aで示している。この曲線Aの場合、点aは反射比率が最も小さいポイントであり、この点aのマイクロ波の周波数は「F1」である。
 したがって、水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合には、発振部2から出力される周波数を「F1」に選定すれば、被加熱物に効率高くマイクロ波エネルギーが吸収されることを示しており、このとき被加熱物である食品へのマイクロ波エネルギーの吸収は最大状態である。また、反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最小ということは、このときのマイクロ波出力に対する反射電力も最小と考えられ、給電部への供給電力(Pf)を増加させると、この反射比率によって反射電力(Pr)が生じる。したがって、周波数F1において定格出力で加熱動作を行っても反射電力によって電力増幅部3の半導体素子に過大な熱ストレスを与えることがなく、半導体素子が破壊されるおそれがない。
 次に、図4において曲線Bで示す、中負荷である水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合について説明する。この曲線Bの場合、点bは反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最も小さいポイントであり、この点bのマイクロ波の周波数は「F2」である。したがって、水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合には、発振部2から出力される周波数を「F2」に選定すれば、被加熱物に効率高くマイクロ波エネルギーが吸収されており、被加熱物である食品へのマイクロ波エネルギーの吸収は最大状態である。また、反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最小ということは、このときのマイクロ波出力に対する反射電力は最小と考えられる。
 しかし、水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合に比べると、水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合には、エネルギー吸収量が少なく、反射電力が大きくなっている。このため、水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱する場合には、電力増幅部3の半導体素子に与える反射エネルギーの影響が、水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合に比べると大きくなっている。
 次に、図4において曲線Cで示す、小負荷である水90ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合について説明する。この曲線Cの場合、点cは反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最も小さいポイントであり、この点cのマイクロ波の周波数は「F3」である。したがって、水90ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合には、発振部2から出力される周波数を「F3」に選定すれば、被加熱物に効率高くマイクロ波エネルギーが吸収されており、被加熱物である食品へのマイクロ波エネルギーの吸収は最大状態である。また、反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最小ということは、このときのマイクロ波出力に対する反射電力は最小と考えられる。
 しかし、水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合、及び水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合に比べると、水90ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合には、エネルギー吸収量がさらに少なくなり、反射電力がかなり大きくなっている。このため、水90ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合には、電力増幅部3の半導体素子に与える反射エネルギーの影響が、水500ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合に比べるとかなり大きくなる。
 上記のように、水285ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合、及び水90ccの負荷相当の被加熱物を加熱した場合においては、反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最も小さい周波数を選定したとしても、曲線Bの点b及び曲線Cの点cにおける反射エネルギーは、曲線Aの点aにおける反射エネルギーより大きくなっている。このため、選定された周波数(F2又はF3)で定格高周波出力(例えば、700W~1000W)を被加熱物に与えた場合には、反射電力の反射エネルギーにより電力増幅部3の半導体素子がダメージを受けて、破壊される可能性がある。
 したがって、本発明に係る実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、選定された発振周波数における反射比率に応じて適切な高周波出力で被加熱物を加熱し、電力増幅部3の半導体素子への反射電力の影響を軽減するよう構成するものである。実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置において、選定された発振周波数に応じて適切な高周波出力で加熱する手段について、図5を用いて説明する。図5は、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置における加熱動作のプロセスを示す説明図である。図5において、縦軸がマイクロ波出力[W]であり、横軸がマイクロ波加熱装置の加熱処理時間[秒]である。
 実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置において、加熱動作のスタートキーが使用者により押圧されると加熱動作が開始される。加熱動作が開始されると、マイクロ波出力が第1の出力「Ppre」という微小出力(周波数掃引電力、例えば、10W)に設定される。この第1の出力「Ppre」は、供給電力(Pf)の100%が反射電力(Pr)として戻ってきたとしても、反射エネルギーにより電力増幅部3の半導体素子がダメージを受けて破壊されない小さな電力に選定されている。第1の出力「Ppre」が出力されている探査期間tpにおいて、許容周波数帯域内(2400MHz~2500MHz)における供給電圧(Vf)に対する反射電圧(Vr)の反射比率の変化が検出され、その反射比率が最小となる値が検出される。
 実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置において、供給電圧(Vf)に対する反射電圧(Vr)の反射比率が最小となる値を検出する周波数掃引動作を、最小比率探査動作と呼ぶ。なお、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、供給電圧(Vf)に対する反射電圧(Vr)の反射比率が最小となる値を検出する最小比率探査動作を行う例で説明するが、本発明は、供給電力(Pf)に対する反射電力(Pr)の反射比率が最小となる値を検出する最小比率探査動作を行う構成を含むものであり、同様の構成により実現できる。
 最小比率探査動作は、使用者が加熱動作のスタートキーを押圧することにより開始され、探査期間tp内において終了する。この最小比率探査動作においては、マイクロ波の周波数を検出対象周波数帯域の最低周波数(例えば、2400MHz)から最高周波数(例えば、2500MHz)まで一定周波数毎に行われる。このとき、電力検出部4から給電部5に供給された供給電圧(Vf)、及び加熱室側から給電部5を介して電力検出部4に入力された反射電圧(Vr)を逐次検出していく。最小比率探査動作において検出された反射比率に基づいて、最小反射比率値を示した発振周波数を検出する。なお、最小比率探査動作において、検出対象周波数帯域の最低周波数から最高周波数までの単一方向だけ行われる例で説明したが、検出対象周波数帯域の最高周波数から最低周波数までの単一方向でもよく、または往復動作で探査動作を行ってもよい。
 上記の最小比率探査動作において検出された最小反射比率(Vr/Vf)は、制御部1において、予め設定した第1の閾値(T1)及び第2の閾値(T2)と比較される。ここで、第1の閾値(T1)は第2の閾値(T2)より小さい値に設定されている(T1<T2)。
 最小比率探査動作において検出された最小反射比率が第1の閾値(T1)より小さい値であれば、その最小反射比率となる発振周波数により定格高周波出力で実際の加熱動作を行っても、その時生じる反射電力の反射エネルギーにより、電力増幅部3の半導体素子が破壊されない大きさである。このため、マイクロ波加熱装置において、制御部1は電力増幅部3が第1の定格高周波出力(Pmax)を出力するように電力制御信号Cpを送出して制御する。
 また、探査期間tpの最小比率探査動作において検出された最小反射比率(Vr/Vf)が、第1の閾値(T1)以上、第2の閾値(T2)未満であれば、制御部1は電力増幅部3が第1の定格高周波出力(Pmax、例えば、1000W)より低い第2の定格高周波出力(Pmid、例えば、850W)を出力するように制御する。電力増幅部3の出力が制御される第2の定格高周波出力(Pmid)は、その時の反射比率を考慮して、その時生じる反射エネルギーが電力増幅器4の半導体素子を破壊しないように、破壊限界以下の小さい値に設定されている。このため、当該被加熱物を第2の定格高周波出力(Pmid)で加熱動作を行っても、その時に生じる反射エネルギーにより電力増幅部3の半導体素子が破壊されることはない。
 また、探査期間tpの最小比率探査動作において検出された最小反射比率(Vr/Vf)が、第2の閾値(T2)以上であれば、制御部1は電力増幅部3が第2の定格高周波出力(Pmid)よりさらに低い第3の定格高周波出力(Pmin、例えば、700W)を出力するように制御する。電力増幅部3の出力が制御される第3の定格高周波出力(Pmin)は、その時の反射比率を考慮して、その時生じる反射エネルギーが電力増幅部3の半導体素子を破壊しないように破壊限界以下の小さい値に設定されている。このため、当該被加熱物を第3の定格高周波出力(Pmin)で加熱動作を行っても、その時に生じる反射エネルギーにより電力増幅部3の半導体素子が破壊されることはない。
 なお、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、2つの閾値(T1,T2)を用いて、3つの定格高周波出力(Pmax,Pmid,Pmin)から所望の定格高周波出力を選択するよう構成した例で説明したが、本発明はこの例に限定されるものではない。本発明においては、複数の閾値を用いて、複数の定格高周波出力から選択するよう構成することができる。
 また、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、使用者が設定した加熱条件で高周波出力が設定されている場合においても、装置の安全性を考慮して、反射エネルギーにより電力増幅部3の半導体素子が破壊されないように設定されている。即ち、使用者が高い高周波出力を設定した場合であっても、その時の被加熱物に対する反射比率が悪いときには、反射エネルギーにより半導体素子に悪影響が出ない範囲で最大の高周波出力に設定される。
 次に、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置における最小比率探査動作について説明する。ここでの最小比率探査動作をプリサーチと呼び、許容周波数帯域(2400~2500MHz)において、一定の周波数毎に供給電力Pf(供給電圧Vf)及び反射電力Pr(反射電圧Vr)を掃引測定して、反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)を算出する。その算出結果に基づいて、最小反射比率を求めて、その時の発振周波数が設定される。
 加熱するためのマイクロ波出力の決定に関しては、前述のように閾値を用いて、最小反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値と高周波出力との関係を示すテーブルを予め設定しておき、検出した最小反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値に応じた適切な高周波出力をテーブルから算出して、その算出された高周波出力により当該被加熱物を加熱して最適化が図られる。
 また、加熱するためのマイクロ波出力の設定に関しては、最小反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値を因数とした加熱出力の関数を予め設定しておき、検出した最小反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値をその関数に代入して高周波出力を算出して、その算出された高周波出力により当該被加熱物を加熱して最適化を図る方法でもよい。この最適化方法は制御部1において実施するが、演算等を多用するためマイクロコンピュータを用いることが望ましい。
 次に、実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置における最小比率探査動作であるプリサーチの方法について、図6を用いて説明する。図6は実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置における最小比率探査動作において検出された反射比率に関する周波数特性曲線を示すグラフである。
 実施の形態1のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、その許容周波数帯域(2400~2500MHz)の最小周波数2400MHzを出発点として、最大周波数2500MHzを最終点として周波数掃引動作(スイープ動作)が自動的に行われる。この掃引動作において、予め設定した一定の増加時間毎(t1,t2,・・,tx,・・,tn)に供給電力(供給電圧)及び反射電力(反射電圧)が測定され、反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値が順次算出される。このように周波数掃引動作において一定時間毎に供給電力(供給電圧)及び反射電力(反射電圧)が測定されるため、最小周波数2400MHzから一定周波数毎の反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値が算出されている。このように、周波数掃引動作において、一定の増加時間毎(t1,t2,・・,tx,・・,tn-1,tn)に反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値が順次算出され、最終点となる2500MHzに最も近い周波数となる時間tnで反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値を算出したとき、この最小比率探査動作は終了する。
 なお、測定間隔である増加時間(Δt)は一定であり、探査期間tpにおいて最小比率探査動作がn回実行されるため、1測定時間はtp/nとなる。この最小比率探査動作において、周波数と反射比率Pr/Pf(Vr/Vf)の値は、制御部1に設けられている記憶手段において記憶される。
 図6の周波数特性曲線に示すように、時点txにおいて反射比率(Vr/Vf)が最小となる周波数Fminが検出され、反射比率(Vr/Vf)の値R1が獲得されている。獲得された反射比率(Vr/Vf)の値R1に基づいて、加熱するためのマイクロ波出力が前述のように求められる。このようにマイクロ波出力を求めて適正化すれば、半導体素子をアイソレータなしで破壊から防止することができ、信頼性の高いマイクロ波加熱装置を提供することができる。
 (実施の形態2)
 以下、本発明に係る実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置について図7を参照して説明する。図7は、本発明に係る実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置における給電径路の主要な構成を示すブロック図である。
 図7に示すように、実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置は、発振部2の後段に電力分配部17を備えている。実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、電力分配部17が発振部2からの2400MHz~2500MHzの帯域の信号を複数のパワーユニットである電力増幅部3a,3bに分配している。各電力増幅部3a,3bにおいて増幅されたマイクロ波は、それぞれの電力検出部4a,4bを介して複数の給電部5a,5bからマイクロ波が加熱室内に放射される構成である。
 実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、1つのパワーユニットである電力増幅部により増幅できる電力には限度があるため、複数の電力増幅部を用いて所望の電力に増幅して、給電部に供給するよう構成したものである。したがって、実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、1つのパワーユニットである電力増幅部において扱う電力を小さくして、複数の電力増幅部において増幅されたマイクロ波を加熱室において空間合成して所望のマイクロ波出力を得ようとするものである。
 実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置において用いる電力分配部17は、小電力系統の発振部の後段に配設される。電力分配部17は、例えば、ウィルキンソン型分配器のような出力間に位相差を生じない同相分配器であってもよいし、ブランチライン型、及びラットレース型のような出力間に位相差を生じる分配器であってもよい。
 また、電力分配部17は、発振部2から入力されたマイクロ波の高周波電力の略1/2の電力を各電力増幅部3a,3bに伝播する。各電力増幅部3a,3bにおいて増幅されたマイクロ波電力は、各電力検出部4a,4bを通ってそれぞれの給電部5a,5bに伝送される。このように、実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、電力分配部17以降は、2つの系列でマイクロ波電力が伝送される。
 上記のように、複数のパワーユニットを用いて複数の給電部であるアンテナから加熱室に給電する構成の場合には、加熱室を構成する複数の壁面に分散して給電部を配置することが可能となる。このように、加熱室に対して複数の給電部を分散配置することが可能となるため、装置の外観を構成する筐体と、その筐体内部の加熱室との間の隙間空間内を有効に活用して、その隙間空間に複数の給電部を効率高く配置することができる。この結果、実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置は、外観はコンパクトでありながら、加熱室を大きく構成することができるため、小型大容量加熱室を有するマイクロ波加熱装置、例えば電子レンジを提供することができる。
 実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、給電径路を2系列とした例で説明したが、本発明はこの例に限定されるものではなく、電力分配部17の後段にさらに電力分配部を設けた多段構成とすることや電力分配部17を3つ以上の系統に分配する多分岐型の分配回路で構成することによって、例えば、4個の給電部、8個の給電部を設けた構成が可能である。このように、電力分配部での電力分配数を多くすることにより、パワーユニットである電力増幅部において扱う電力はさらに小さくなり、電力増幅部の出力部(図2の出力部12参照)において扱う電力も小さくなる。この結果、電力増幅部における発熱量が抑制され、電力増幅部の熱放散設計が容易となる効果を有する。
 (実施の形態3)
 以下、本発明に係る実施の形態3のマイクロ波加熱装置について図8を参照して説明する。図8は、本発明に係る実施の形態3のマイクロ波加熱装置における給電径路の主要な構成を示すブロック図である。
 図8に示すように、実施の形態3のマイクロ波加熱装置は、電力分配部17において分配された各電力径路に位相制御部18a,18bが設けられている。実施の形態3のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、各給電径路に位相制御部18a,18bを用いて、各給電部径路間の位相を変更できる構成である。
 なお、発振部2から電力分配部17へのマイクロ波電力の伝送動作、及び各給電径路において各位相制御部18a,18bの後段にある電力増幅部3a,3b、電力検出部4a,4b及び給電部5a,5bにおけるマイクロ波電力の伝送動作については、前述の実施の形態2のマイクロ波加熱装置における伝送動作と同じであるため、これらの説明は実施の形態3における説明では省略する。
 実施の形態3のマイクロ波加熱装置において用いた位相制御部18a,18bは、印加電圧に応じて容量が変化する容量可変素子を用いて構成されている。各位相制御部18a,18bの位相可変範囲は、0度から略180度の範囲である。これによって、位相制御部18a,18bより出力されるマイクロ波電力の位相差は、0度から±180度の範囲を制御することができる。
 各給電径路に位相制御部18a,18bを用いて給電部間の位相差を可変することにより、加熱室内の給電部間に形成される電磁界分布を自由に形成することが可能となる。したがって、実施の形態3のマイクロ波加熱装置は、加熱室内の被加熱物における特定の部分を選択的に加熱することができるため、被加熱物の加熱状態を検出して加熱ムラのない加熱仕上げを実現することが可能となる。
 (実施の形態4)
 以下、本発明に係る実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置について図9を参照して説明する。図9は、本発明に係る実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置における給電径路の主要な構成を示すブロック図である。
 図9において、給電径路におけるマイクロ波発生部20は、半導体素子を用いて構成した発振部22と、発振部22の出力を電力増幅する半導体素子を用いて構成した電力増幅部23と、電力増幅部23によって増幅されたマイクロ波電力を加熱室7内に放射するアンテナである給電部25と、電力増幅部23と給電部25を接続するマイクロ波伝送路に挿入された電力検出部24と、発振部22と電力増幅部23とを制御する制御部21とを有して構成されている。電力検出部24は、加熱室側から給電部25を介して電力増幅部21へ反射する反射電力、及び電力増幅部23から給電部25へ供給される供給電力を検出する。制御部21は、電力検出部6により検出された供給電力及び反射電力に基づいて、発振部22と電力増幅部23とを制御するよう構成されている。
 実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置は、前述の実施の形態1から実施の形態3と同様に、被加熱物15を収納するための略直方体構造を持つ加熱室7を有している。加熱室7は、金属材料により天井面、底面、左側面、右側面及び背面を構成する壁板と、被加熱物15を出し入れするために開閉する開閉扉(図示なし)と、被加熱物15を載置するための載置台16とにより構成されている。このように構成された加熱室7は、開閉扉を閉じることにより、加熱室内に供給されたマイクロ波が加熱室内部に閉じ込められる構成である。
 マイクロ波発生部20において、発振部22からのマイクロ波が電力増幅部23で増幅され、電力検出部24を介してアンテナである給電部25に伝送されている。給電部25から加熱室7内にマイクロ波が放射される。マイクロ波を加熱室7内に放射供給する給電部25は、加熱室7を構成する壁面に配置されている。実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、給電部25が加熱室7の底面に配置されている。実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、給電部25が底面に配置された例で説明するが、本発明はこの構成に限定されるものではなく、給電部25は加熱室7を構成するいずれの壁面に配置しても問題はなく、マイクロ波加熱装置の仕様に応じて変更可能である。
 マイクロ波発生部20は、低誘電損失材料により構成された誘電体基板の片面に形成した導電体パターンを用いた回路に複数の半導体素子を設けて構成されている。電力増幅部23においては、マイクロ波を増幅する増幅素子である半導体素子を良好に動作させるべく、各半導体素子の入力側と出力側にそれぞれ整合回路が設けられている。
 マイクロ波発生部20における各々の機能ブロックを接続するマイクロ波伝送路は、誘電体基板の片面に設けた導電体パターンによって、特性インピーダンスが略50Ωの伝送回路が形成されている。
 また、電力検出部24は、加熱室7側から電力増幅部23側に伝送する、いわゆる反射波の反射電力、及び電力増幅部23側から加熱室7側に伝送する、いわゆる入射波の電力である供給電力を抽出するものである。電力検出部24においては、電力結合度を例えば約-40dBとし、反射電力および入射電力(供給電力)の約1/10000の電力量を抽出する。
 このように抽出された電力信号は、それぞれ、検波ダイオード(図示なし)により整流化され、コンデンサ(図示なし)で平滑処理されて、その平滑処理された信号が制御部21に入力されている。
 制御部21は、使用者が直接入力する被加熱物15の加熱条件、加熱中に被加熱物15の加熱状態から得られる加熱情報、及び電力検出部24により検出された検知情報とに基づいて、マイクロ波発生部20の構成要素である発振部22と電力増幅部23のそれぞれに供給する駆動電力を制御する。この結果、加熱室7内に収納された被加熱物15は、使用者が設定した加熱条件、加熱中の被加熱物15の加熱状態、或いは電力検出部24からの検知情報に基づいて最適に加熱される。
 なお、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置において、マイクロ波発生部20には、主に電力増幅部3に備えた半導体素子において発生した熱を放熱させるための放熱手段、例えば冷却フィン(図示なし)が設けられている。
 前述の背景技術の欄で説明したように、マイクロ波加熱装置において、被加熱物の種類、形状、量、及び加熱室内の被加熱物の位置などの多くの条件により被加熱物を含む加熱室の電気的特性が決定されており、加熱室側からマイクロ波発生部側に伝送される反射電力は、マイクロ波発生部の出力インピーダンスと加熱室のインピーダンスとに基づいて発生する。このために、加熱室の電気的特性は常時に異なっているため、加熱室側からマイクロ波発生部側に伝送される反射電力は常に変動している。
 また、被加熱物に対して最も効率よくマイクロ波を吸収させられる周波数は、加熱室内の被加熱物の状態によっても変化する。
 被加熱物が冷凍状態である場合、加熱動作によって解凍が進行し、被加熱物が部分的に解凍された状態になる。氷と水ではマイクロ波に対するインピーダンスが大きく異なるため、給電部からみた加熱室のインピーダンスは、加熱初期に比べて大きく変化する。この結果、マイクロ波を効率よく被加熱物に吸収させられる周波数は、加熱初期と、氷が溶けた後の状態では異なる値となる。したがって、加熱動作前の冷凍状態で選択した周波数による加熱動作を継続すると、反射電力が増加し、電力増幅部の発熱量が増加するとともに、加熱の効率も悪化する可能性がある。また、このときの反射電力の反射エネルギーにより電力増幅部の半導体素子に対して悪影響を与えるおそれがある。このため、加熱効率を向上させるためには、加熱動作中においても、最も適した周波数を常に選択して加熱動作を行うことが求められる。
 実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、上記の課題を解決するものであり、加熱動作中においても、最適な周波数を選択して加熱動作を行うよう構成されている。
 次に、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置の動作について説明する。
 まず、使用者は、被加熱物15を加熱室7に収納し、その加熱条件を操作部(図示なし)において入力し、加熱動作のスタートキーを押圧する。スタートキーが押圧されると加熱開始信号が形成され、制御部21に入力される。加熱開始信号を受けた制御部21が制御信号に形成して、マイクロ波発生部20はマイクロ波発生動作を開始する。制御部21は、電源部(図1参照)を動作させて発振部22に電力を供給する。この時、発振部22の初期の発振周波数が、例えば2400MHzに設定される電圧信号が供給されて、発振部22は発振動作を開始する。
 制御部21は、発振部22を駆動制御するととともに、電源部を制御して電力増幅部23を駆動制御する。
 電力増幅部23において増幅されたマイクロ波電力は、電力検出部24を経て給電部25に供給され、加熱室7内に放射される。このときの電力増幅部23の出力電力はそれぞれ100W未満、例えば50Wのマイクロ波電力を出力する。
 前述のように、加熱室7内に供給されるマイクロ波電力が被加熱物15に100%吸収されると、加熱室7からの反射電力は零となる。しかし、被加熱物15の種類、形状、量、及び位置が被加熱物15を含む加熱室7の電気的特性を決定するため、給電部25の出力インピーダンスと加熱室7のインピーダンスとに基づいて、加熱室7側から給電部5側に伝送する反射電力が生じる。
 実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置において、前述の実施の形態のマイクロ波加熱装置と同様に、マイクロ波加熱装置の許容周波数帯域内(2400MHz~2500MHz)において周波数掃引動作を行って、反射電力量が最小値となる周波数の選択を行っている。
 給電径路に設けられた電力検出部24は、加熱室7側からマイクロ波発生部20側に伝送される反射電力を検出し、その反射電力量に比例した検出信号を抽出する。その検出信号は制御部21に送られており、検出信号を受けた制御部21は反射電力量が最小値となる周波数の選択を行っている。
 制御部21における周波数掃引動作である周波数選択動作は、発振部22の発振周波数を初期の2400MHzから、例えば1MHzピッチで高い周波数側に変化させていき、周波数可変範囲の上限である2500MHzに到達するまで行われる。
 このように、許容周波数帯域内(2400MHz~2500MHz)において周波数掃引動作を行うことにより、制御部21は発振部22から出力される各発振周波数に対する反射電力の変動状態を認識することができる。図10は電力検出部24において検出された反射電力の周波数特性曲線の一例を示したグラフである。
 制御部21においては、検出された反射電力の周波数特性に基づいて、反射電力が最小となる発振周波数(図10に示す周波数特性曲線においては、周波数Fopt)を選択する。また、制御部21は、使用者が設定した加熱条件に対応したマイクロ波出力となるように、電力増幅部23を制御する。この結果、電力増幅部23は適切な発振周波数のマイクロ波電力を出力する。そして、電力増幅部23のマイクロ波出力は電力検出部24を介して給電部25に伝送され、加熱室7内に放射される。
 上記のように、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、反射電力が最小となる最適条件を求めて、その求められたマイクロ波電力により加熱動作を行っている。この結果、加熱動作時における反射電力が小さくなるため、効率的に被加熱物15に対してマイクロ波エネルギーを吸収させることができ、加熱時間を短縮することができる。
 しかし、マイクロ波加熱装置により加熱される被加熱物15においては、加熱動作中においてその状態は時々刻々変化しており、特に冷凍食品の場合にはその変動が大きなものである。被加熱物15が冷凍食品の場合、加熱開始前においては被加熱物15中の水分は氷の状態になっており、マイクロ波を照射して加熱動作を行うことにより、被加熱物15中の氷が融解し水の状態に遷移する。
 マイクロ波に対する氷と水のインピーダンスを鑑みると、氷に対して水の方がインピーダンスは非常に大きいため、加熱室7内に収納された被加熱物15が冷凍された状態で加熱室7のインピーダンスを測定した周波数特性と、加熱が進行して被加熱物15が融解し始めた状態での加熱室7のインピーダンスを測定した周波数特性とは大きく異なることが予想される。このような場合には、加熱動作の進行に伴って電力検出部24によって検出される反射電力が大きく変動する。
 したがって、加熱動作中において反射電力が大きくなる場合があり、高効率での加熱動作を維持できなくなってしまう。実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、この問題を解決するものである。
 実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、電力検出部24によって検出される反射電力が、所定の閾値を超えると加熱動作を一旦中断して、前述の周波数選択動作を行っている。
 制御部21における加熱動作開始後に加熱動作を停止して実行される周波数選択動作は、加熱動作の前の周波数選択動作と同じであり、発振部22の発振周波数を初期の2400MHzから、例えば1MHzピッチで高い周波数側に変化させていき、周波数可変範囲の上限である2500MHzに到達するまで行われる。この周波数選択動作ときのマイクロ波出力は、加熱動作時に給電部25に供給される定格供給電力より低い周波数掃引電力(例えば、50W)である。
 このように、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、加熱動作開始後においても、反射電力が所定の閾値を越えた場合には周波数選択動作を実行して、最適な加熱動作の周波数を選択することができる。この結果、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置は、加熱動作中においても、常に最適な周波数のマイクロ波電力を供給しているため、被加熱物を効率高くマイクロ波加熱することができる。
 なお、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置において、加熱動作を停止して周波数選択動作を実行するタイミングは、前述のように電力検出部24によって検出される反射電力が閾値を越えたときに実行しても良いし、制御部21において加熱動作が所定時間経過した後に加熱動作を中断して、周波数選択動作を実行し、最適な周波数を選択するよう構成してもよい。加熱動作開始後に所定時間経過毎に複数回の周波数選択動作を実行することにより、被加熱物の状態に応じた適切な周波数でマイクロ波加熱することが可能となり、効率の高い加熱動作となる。
 実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置において、予め設定された時間内において電力検出部により検出された反射電力が閾値以上にならなかったときであっても、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行してもよい。このように周波数掃引動作を所定時間毎に実行することにより、マイクロ波加熱装置は、被加熱物等の状態を含む加熱室内の状態に応じた適切な発振周波数が常に設定されることになり、効率の高い加熱動作を実現することができる。
 実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、電力検出部24において反射電力を検出して、その反射電力量に基づいて最適な発振周波数を選択するよう構成したが、前述の実施の形態1から実施の形態3において説明したように、電力検出部において供給電力に対する反射電力の反射比率を用いて発振周波数を選択するよう構成してもよい。このように構成することにより、加熱室内に放射されたマイクロ波エネルギーが最も効率高く被加熱物に吸収される発振周波数を選択することが可能となる。
 (実施の形態5)
 以下、本発明に係る実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置について図11を参照して説明する。図11は、本発明に係る実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置における給電径路の主要な構成を示すブロック図である。
 実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置において、前述の実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置との相違点は、発振部22の出力を電力分配部27によって複数に分配して、複数の給電径路を設けている点と、一方の給電径路に位相制御部26を設けている点である。なお、実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置においては2系統の給電径路を設けた例で説明する。
 実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置において、電力分配部27の一方の給電径路に位相制御部26を設けることにより、その一方の給電径路におけるマイクロ波の位相差を制御できるように構成されている。なお、それぞれの給電径路には、実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置と同様に、マイクロ波電力を増幅する電力増幅部、供給電力と反射電力を検出する電力検出部、及びアンテナである給電部が設けられている。すなわち、実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、電力増幅部23a又は23b、電力検出部24a又は24b、及び給電部25a又は25bがそれぞれの給電径路に設けられている。
 実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置において、加熱動作前に加熱するための発振周波数を選択する周波数選択動作が実行する。この周波数選択動作は、前述の実施の形態4のマイクロ波加熱装置における周波数選択動作と同じであるので、実施の形態5の説明においては、その詳細な説明を省略する。
 実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、一方の給電径路に位相制御部26が設けられているため、一方の給電部25aから放射されるマイクロ波の位相を制御することにより、各給電部25a,25bから放射される2系統のマイクロ波の位相差を制御することが可能となる。このため、実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置は、加熱室7内における給電部間のマイクロ波の干渉位置を変化させることができ、電界が強くなる位置を調整することが可能となる。したがって、実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置は、被加熱物を強く加熱する位置を変更することができるため、被加熱物の加熱状態の仕上がり具合を均一に仕上げることができる。
 実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置においては、給電径路を2系列とした例で説明したが、本発明はこの例に限定されるものではなく、電力分配部27の後段にさらに電力分配部を設けた多段構成とすることによって、例えば、4個の給電部、8個の給電部を設ける構成が可能である。このように、電力分配部を多段構成とすることにより、パワーユニットである電力増幅部において扱う電力はさらに小さくなり、電力増幅部の出力部において扱う電力も小さくなる。この結果、電力増幅部における発熱量が抑制され、熱放散設計が容易となる効果を奏する。このように複数の給電径路(少なくとも、3つの給電径路)を形成する場合には、それぞれの給電径路に位相制御部を設けることにより、各給電径路の位相を調整することが可能となる。
 以上のように、本発明によれば、反射電力によるマイクロ波発生部の破損を確実に防止するとともに、被加熱部を高い加熱効率で加熱することができるマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法を提供することができる。なお、本発明を説明するために、前述の実施の形態1から実施の形態5のマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法において具体的な構成について説明したが、本発明はこれらの構成に限定されるものではなく、これらの構成の組み合わせ、及びこれらの構成と同等の技術的思想に基づくものを含むものである。
 本発明のマイクロ波加熱装置及びマイクロ波加熱方法は、各種の被加熱物においても反射エネルギーによる半導体素子の破壊が防止され、効率の高いマイクロ波加熱を行うことができるため、電子レンジに代表されるような誘電加熱を利用した加熱装置、生ゴミ処理機、或いは半導体製造装置であるプラズマ電源のマイクロ波電源などの各種用途に適用できる。

Claims (15)

  1. [規則91に基づく訂正 17.06.2010] 
     被加熱物を収容する加熱室、
     所定の周波数帯域内の発振周波数の信号を出力する発振部、
     前記発振部の出力を電力増幅する電力増幅部、
     前記電力増幅部の出力を前記加熱室に供給する給電部、
     前記加熱室から前記給電部を介して前記電力増幅部に反射する反射電力と前記電力増幅部から前記給電部に供給される供給電力とを検出する電力検出部、及び
     前記電力検出部からの反射電力信号と供給電力信号が入力されて、前記発振部の発振周波数と前記電力増幅部の出力を制御する制御部を備え、
     前記制御部は、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、加熱動作時に前記給電部に供給される定格供給電力より低い周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して最小反射電力を探査し、前記最小反射電力に応じて加熱時に前記給電部に供給する給電電力を調整し、前記周波数掃引動作において最小反射電力を示した発振周波数にて加熱動作を行うよう構成されたマイクロ波加熱装置。
  2.  前記制御部は、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、供給電力に対する反射電力の反射比率が最小値となる発振周波数を決定し、決定された発振周波数における最小反射電力に応じて前記給電部に供給される給電電力を調整するよう構成された請求項1に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  3.  前記制御部は、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作開始後において、加熱動作を所定時間中断して、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行し、供給電力に対する反射電力の反射比率が最小値となる発振周波数を再決定するとともに、再決定された発振周波数における最小反射電力に応じて前記給電部に供給される給電電力を調整するよう構成された請求項2に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  4.  前記制御部は、前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前の周波数掃引動作の実行により決定された発振周波数による加熱動作の開始後において、加熱動作を中断して前記周波数掃引動作を再実行して、前記電力検出部により検出された最小反射電力となる発振周波数を再決定し、再決定された発振周波数にて加熱動作に移行するよう構成された請求項1に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  5.  前記制御部は、加熱動作と、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を予め設定された時間間隔で繰り返して行うよう構成された請求項4に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  6.  前記制御部は、加熱動作開始後において、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を、前記電力検出部により検出された反射電力が予め決められた閾値以上となったときに行うよう構成された請求項4に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  7.  前記制御部は、予め設定された時間内において電力検出部により検出された反射電力が閾値以上にならなったとき、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行するよう構成された請求項6に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  8.  前記発振部の出力を分配して複数の電力増幅部に供給する電力分配部をさらに備え、前記複数の電力増幅部からの出力が複数の給電部にそれぞれ供給されて前記加熱室にマイクロ波を放射するよう構成された請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  9.  前記発振部の出力を分配して複数の電力増幅部に供給する電力分配部と、
     前記複数の電力増幅部に供給するマイクロ波電力の位相を可変する位相制御部と、
    をさらに備え、前記複数の電力増幅部からの出力が複数の給電部にそれぞれ供給されて前記加熱室にマイクロ波を放射するよう構成された請求項請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ波加熱装置。
  10. [規則91に基づく訂正 17.06.2010] 
     発振部により所定の周波数帯域内の発振周波数の信号を出力するステップ、
     前記電力増幅部により前記発振部の出力を電力増幅するステップ、
     給電部により前記電力増幅部の出力を前記加熱室に供給するステップ、
     電力検出部により前記加熱室側から前記給電部を介して前記電力増幅部に反射する反射電力と前記電力増幅部から前記給電部に供給される供給電力とを検出するステップ、及び
     制御部により前記電力検出部からの反射電力信号と供給電力信号が入力されて、前記発振部の発振周波数と前記電力増幅部の出力を制御するステップを有し、
     加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、加熱動作時に加熱室内の被加熱物に対してマイクロ波出力される定格供給電力より低い周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して最小反射電力を探査するステップと、
     前記最小反射電力に応じて加熱時に前記給電部に供給する給電電力を調整するステップと、
     前記周波数掃引動作において最小反射電力を示した発振周波数にて加熱動作を実行するステップと、
    を含むマイクロ波加熱方法。
  11.  前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、供給電力に対する反射電力に反射比率が最小値となる発振周波数を決定するステップと、
     決定された発振周波数における最小反射電力に応じて前記給電部に供給される給電電力を調整するステップと、を有する請求項10に記載のマイクロ波加熱方法。
  12.  前記加熱室内の被加熱物に対する加熱動作を開始する前に、周波数掃引電力で所定の周波数帯域の周波数掃引動作を実行して、前記電力検出部によって検出される反射電力が最小となる発振周波数を決定するステップと、
     決定された発振周波数による加熱動作の開始後において、加熱動作を中断して前記周波数掃引動作を実行して、前記電力検出部により検出された最小反射電力となる発振周波数を再決定するステップと、
     再決定された発振周波数にて加熱動作に移行するステップと、を有する請求項10に記載のマイクロ波加熱方法。
  13.  加熱動作と、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を予め設定された時間間隔で繰り返して行う請求項12に記載のマイクロ波加熱方法。
  14.  加熱動作開始後において、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する加熱動作停止を、前記電力検出部により検出された反射電力が予め決められた閾値以上となったときに行う請求項12に記載のマイクロ波加熱方法。
  15.  予め設定された時間内において電力検出部により検出された反射電力が閾値以上にならなかったとき、加熱動作を中断して周波数掃引動作を実行する請求項14に記載のマイクロ波加熱方法。
