Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of migraine, wherein the pharmaceutical composition formulated as a nasal spray or as a oral formulation comprises low concentrations of a superselective subclass of alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonists, that have a binding affinity of 900 fold or greater for alpha-2 over alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, such as, for example, dexmedetomidine.
