 圧電素子と、前記圧電素子が接合されて振動する振動板と、前記振動板が接合される筐体とを有し、前記振動板により人体の一部を振動させて伝える振動音を発生させる電子機器であって、前記振動板は、その平面視における前記圧電素子との接合部分を含む第1の領域の剛性が、当該接合部分からの距離が前記第1の領域よりも遠い第2の領域の剛性よりも低くすることで、たとえば音漏れ等を低減できて使い勝手が向上した電子機器を開示する。

 本出願は、日本国特許出願2012-077714号(2012年3月29日出願)の優先権を主張するものであり、当該出願の開示全体を、ここに参照のために取り込む。
 この発明は、圧電素子に所定の電気信号(音声信号)を印加することで振動板を振動させ、当該振動板の振動を人体に伝達させることにより振動音を利用者に伝える電子機器に関する。
 特許文献1には、携帯電話などの電子機器から人間に伝達される音として、気導音と骨導音とが知られていることが記載されている。気導音とは、物体の振動に起因する空気の振動が外耳道を通って鼓膜に伝わり、鼓膜が振動することによって利用者の聴覚神経に伝わる音であることが記載されている。また、骨導音とは、振動する物体に接触する利用者の体の一部(例えば外耳の軟骨)を介して利用者の聴覚神経に伝わる音であることが記載されている。
 また、特許文献1には、気導音と骨導音とにより利用者に音を伝える電話機では、圧電バイモルフ及び可撓性物質からなる短形板状の振動体が、筐体の外面に弾性部材を介して取り付けられていることが記載されている。また、この振動体の圧電バイモルフに電圧が印加されると、圧電バイモルフが長手方向に伸縮することにより振動体が振動することが記載されている。また、利用者が耳介に振動体を接触させると、気導音と骨導音とが利用者に伝えられることが記載されている。
特開2005-348193号公報
 特許文献1に記載の電子機器は、携帯電話などの筐体の外面に縦幅0.8cm、横幅3.2cm程度の矩形の非常に小さな振動体が取り付けられる。そのため、振動体がそれよりも大きなサイズの場合における課題についは、想定すらされていない。
 本発明の目的は、縦幅0.8cm、横幅3.2cm程度の振動体よりも大きなサイズの振動体を用いる場合にも適切に使用できる電子機器を提供することにある。
 本発明による電子機器は、圧電素子と、前記圧電素子が接合されて振動する振動板と、前記振動板が接合される筐体とを有し、前記振動板により人体の一部を振動させて伝える振動音を発生させる電子機器であって、前記振動板は、その平面視における前記圧電素子との接合部分を含む第1の領域の剛性が、当該接合部分からの距離が前記第1の領域よりも遠い第2の領域の剛性よりも低いことを特徴とする。
 好ましい態様によれば、前記振動板は、互いに接合される2つのパネルを有し、前記複数のパネルの接合部分が、前記第2の領域内に位置することを特徴とする。
 別の好ましい態様によれば、前記2つのパネルのうち一方は表示パネルであり、他方は前記表示パネルに対し前記筐体の反対側に配置されたタッチパネルまたは保護パネルであることを特徴とする。

 本発明に係る電子機器は、縦幅0.8cm、横幅3.2cm程度の振動体よりも大きなサイズの振動体を用いる場合にも適切に使用できる。また、振動板により振動音と気導音とを発生させることができる。

 以降、諸図面を参照しながら、本発明の実施態様を詳細に説明する。図1は、本発明の一実施形態に係る電子機器1の機能ブロックを示す図である。電子機器1は、例えば携帯電話(スマートフォン)であって、振動板100(パネル10及び表示部20を含む)と、圧電素子30と、入力部40と、制御部50と、を備える。
 パネル10は、接触を検出するタッチパネル、または表示部20を保護するカバーパネル等である。パネル10は、例えばガラス、またはアクリル等の合成樹脂により形成される。パネル10の形状は板状であるとよい。パネル10は、タッチパネルである場合、利用者の指、ペン、又はスタイラスペン等の接触を検出する。タッチパネルの検出方式は、静電容量方式、抵抗膜方式、表面弾性波方式(又は超音波方式)、赤外線方式、電磁誘導方式、及び荷重検出方式等の任意の方式を用いることができる。
 表示部20は、液晶ディスプレイ、有機ELディスプレイ、又は無機ELディスプレイ等のパネル状の表示デバイスである。表示部20は、後に詳述するように、パネル10の背面に設けられる。表示部20は、接合部材(例えば接着剤)によりパネル10に接着して固定される。接合部材は、たとえば、透過させる光の屈折率を制御した、光学弾性樹脂などの弾性樹脂である。表示部20は、接着部材とパネル10を透過して種々の情報を表示する。
 圧電素子30は、電気信号(電圧)を印加することで、構成材料の電気機械結合係数に従い伸縮する素子である。これらの素子は、例えばセラミック製や水晶からなるものが用いられる。圧電素子30は、ユニモルフ、バイモルフまたは積層型圧電素子であってよい。積層型圧電素子には、バイモルフを積層した(例えば16層または24層積層した)積層型バイモルフ素子が含まれる。積層型の圧電素子は、例えばPZT(チタン酸ジルコン酸鉛)からなる複数の誘電体層と、該誘電体層間に配置された電極層との積層構造体から構成される。
 圧電素子30は、パネル10の背面に配置される。圧電素子30は、接合部材(例えば両面テープ)によりパネル10に取り付けられる。圧電素子30は、印加される電気信号に応答して伸縮し、これに合わせてパネル10が変形する。これにより、パネル10と表示部20とで構成される振動板100が、電気信号の周波数等に応じて振動する。
 入力部40は、利用者からの操作入力を受け付けるものであり、例えば、操作ボタン(操作キー)から構成される。なお、パネル10がタッチパネルである場合には、パネル10も利用者からの接触を検出することにより、利用者からの操作入力を受け付ける入力部として機能する。
 制御部50は、電子機器1を制御するプロセッサであって、圧電素子30に所定の電気信号(音声信号に応じた電圧)を印加する。例えば、人体振動音を伝えない気道音による音の伝導を目的とした所謂パネルスピーカの印加電圧である±5Vよりも高い、±15Vが印加されてもよい。これにより、例えば3N以上の力でユーザが自身の体に振動板100を押し付けた場合であっても、振動板100に十分な振動を発生させ、利用者の体の一部を介する人体振動音を発生させることができる。尚、どの程度の印加電圧を用いるかは、パネルの固定強度や素子の性能等を加味して適宜調整可能である。制御部50は圧電素子30に電気信号を印加することで圧電素子30を長手方向に伸縮させ、振動板100を振動させる。パネル10は、圧電素子30の伸縮又は屈曲によって湾曲する。パネル10は、圧電素子30によって直接的に曲げられる。「パネル10が圧電素子30によって直接的に曲げられる」とは、従来のパネルスピーカで採用されているような、圧電素子をケーシング内に配設して構成される圧電アクチュエータの慣性力によりパネルの特定の領域を押圧してパネルが変形する現象とは異なる。「パネル10が圧電素子30によって直接的に曲げられる」とは、圧電素子の伸縮または屈曲(湾曲)が、接合部材或いは接合部材及び補強部材を介して、直にパネルを曲げることを意味する。このため、振動板100は、気導音を発生させるとともに、利用者が体の一部(例えば外耳の軟骨)を接触させた場合、体の一部を介する骨導音を発生させる。例えば、制御部50は、送受信部60が無線通信により受信した通話相手の音声または着信メロディもしくは音楽を含む楽曲等の音声信号に応じた電気信号を圧電素子30に印加させ、対応する気導音及び骨導音を発生させることができる。なお、電気信号にかかる音声信号は、内部メモリに記憶された音楽データに基づくものでもよいし、外部サーバ等に記憶されている音楽データがネットワークを介して再生されるものであってもよい。
 また、制御部50は、マイクロフォン42が集音した音声信号をベースバンド信号に変換し、送受信部60にそのベースバンド信号を通話相手の電子機器に向けて送信させる。また、電子機器1にダイナミックスピーカ62を別途備え、制御部50は、ダイナミックスピーカ62に各種の音声信号を出力してもよい。
 振動板100は、パネル10に圧電素子30が接合された接合部分だけでなく、接合部分から離れた領域も振動する。振動板100は、ある瞬間において、振動の振幅が相対的に大きい部分と振動の振幅が相対的に小さい部分とが振動板100全体にランダムにあるいは周期的に分布した振動をする。即ち振動板100は、その振動領域において、振動板100の主面と交差する方向に振動する箇所を複数有し、当該箇所の各々において、振動の振幅の値が時間とともにプラスからマイナスに、あるいはその逆に変動する複数の波の振動が検出される。そのため、利用者は、たとえば図2に示すように、上述した圧電素子30の接合部分から離れた領域に耳を接触させて音を聞くことができる。
 ここで、振動板100は、図2に示すように、利用者の耳とほぼ同じ大きさ、あるいは利用者の耳よりも大きな大きさを有するものであってもよい。この場合、利用者が、音を聞く際、電子機器1の振動板100により耳全体が覆われやすいことから、周囲音(ノイズ)を外耳道に入りにくくできる。振動板100は、耳輪から耳珠および対耳珠までの間の距離に相当する長さと、耳輪脚から対耳輪までの間の距離に相当する幅とを有する領域よりも広い領域が振動すればよい。日本人の耳の平均的な大きさは、社団法人 人間生活工学研究センター(HQL)作成の日本人の人体寸法データベース(1992-1994)等を参照すれば知ることができる。尚、振動板100の大きさが日本人の耳の平均的な大きさ以上であれば、振動板100は概ね外国人の耳全体を覆うことができる大きさであると考えられる。
 上記の電子機器1は、気導音と、利用者の体の一部(例えば外耳の軟骨)を介する人体振動音とを利用者に伝えることができる。そのため、空気の振動により周囲へ伝わる音がダイナミックスピーカと比較して少ない。したがって、例えば録音されたメッセージを電車内等で聞く場合等に適している。
 また、上記の電子機器1は、振動板100の振動によって人体振動音を伝えるため、例えば利用者がイヤホンまたはヘッドホンを身につけていても、それらに電子機器1を接触させることで、利用者はイヤホンまたはヘッドホンおよび体の一部を介して音を聞くことができる。
 上記の電子機器1は、振動板100の振動により利用者に音を伝える。そのため、電子機器1が別途ダイナミックスピーカを備えない場合、音声伝達のための開口部(放音口)を筐体に形成する必要がなく、電子機器の防水構造が簡略化できる。尚、電子機器1が別途ダイナミックスピーカを備える場合、放音口は、気体は通すが液体は通さない部材によって閉塞されるとよい。気体は通すが液体は通さない部材は、例えばゴアテックス(登録商標)である。
(第1の実施形態)
 図3は第1の実施形態に係る電子機器1の実装構造を示す図である。図3(a)は正面図、図3(b)は図3(a)におけるb-b線に沿った断面図である。図3に示す電子機器1はパネル10としてガラス板であるタッチパネルが筐体60(例えば金属や樹脂のケース)の前面に配されたスマートフォンである。パネル10及び入力部40は筐体60に支持され、表示部20および圧電素子30は、それぞれ接合部材70によりパネル10に接着されている。接合部材70は、熱硬化性あるいは紫外線硬化性等を有する接着剤や両面テープ等であり、例えば無色透明のアクリル系紫外線硬化型接着剤である光学弾性樹脂でもよい。パネル10、表示部20および圧電素子30は、それぞれ略長方形状である。
 表示部20は接合部材70によりパネル10に接合され、パネル10と表示部20は振動板100を構成する。接合部材70は、熱硬化性あるいは紫外線硬化性等を有する接着剤であり、例えば無色透明のアクリル系紫外線硬化型接着剤である光学弾性樹脂でもよい。表示部20は、パネル10の背面に接合される。好ましくは、表示部20は、パネル10と接触する全面でパネル10に接着される。そうすることで、表示部20がパネル10に接合された部分における振動板100の剛性を上げることができる。
 パネル10は、接合部材により筐体60に接合される。接合部材を用いることで、振動板100の振動が筐体60に直接伝わりにくくなり、振動板100の振動が筐体60に直接伝わる場合と比較して、筐体60自体の振動を小さくすることができる。よって、筐体60が大きく振動することで、ユーザが電子機器1を落下したりすることを低減できる。また、接合部材として、たとえば熱硬化性あるいは紫外線硬化性等を有する接着剤を用いることにより、振動板100と筐体60の間に熱応力収縮が生じにくい態様で接合できる。また、接合部材として、たとえば、両面テープを用いることにより、圧電素子30にかかる収縮応力を接着剤を用いる場合より低減することができる。
 圧電素子30も、接合部材70によりパネル10に接着されている。接合部材70として熱硬化性あるいは紫外線硬化性等を有する接着剤を用いることにより、圧電素子30と振動板100との間に熱応力収縮が生じにくい態様で接合できる。また、接合部材70として両面テープを用いてもよい。両面テープを用いることにより、圧電素子30にかかる収縮応力が接着剤を用いる場合に比較して低減できる。
 表示部20は、パネル10の短手方向におけるほぼ中央に配置される。圧電素子30は、パネル10の長手方向の端部から所定の距離だけ離間して、当該端部の近傍に、圧電素子30の長手方向がパネル10の短辺に沿うように配置される。表示部20と圧電素子30とは、パネル10の内部側の面に平行な方向において並んで配置される。圧電素子30をパネル10が表示部20を覆う領域の外部に配置することで、表示部20による表示を圧電素子30が阻害しないようにすることができる。
 図4は、第1の実施形態に係る電子機器1の振動板100の振動の一例を示す図である。これに対し、図5は、表示部20を有さない振動板100の振動の一例、すなわち、表示部20が背面に接着されずに筐体60に支持されるパネル10の振動の一例を示す図である。第1の実施形態に係る電子機器1では、表示部20がパネル10に接着して固定されている。このため、振動板100の上部100aと比べて下部100bの剛性が上がる。よって、表示部100を有さない図5の場合と比べ、圧電素子30が取り付けられた振動板100の上部100aの振動を振動板100の下部100bに比して大きく振動させることが可能となる。そのため、利用者の耳と接触していない振動板100の下部100bにおいて、振動板100の下部100bが振動することによる音漏れを低減できる。特に、パネル10が長方形状を有するとき、その長手方向に撓みやすく振動が減衰しにくいが、表示部20を接着して振動板100の剛性を高めることで振動の減衰量を増大させ、振動板100の下部の振動を低減させることができる。よって、たとえば図3(a)に示すように、筐体60において振動板100の下方(すなわち、振動板100において、圧電素子30が設けられた端部と表示部20をはさんで対向する端部の側)にマイクロフォン42を設けた場合であっても、振動板100の下部の振動による音漏れが集音されにくくできる。また、振動板100は、圧電素子30によってその上部が直接的に曲げられ、当該上部に比較して下部では振動が減衰する。振動板100は、圧電素子30の長辺方向において、該圧電素子30の直上がその周囲と比較して最も高く隆起するように、圧電素子30によって曲げられる。
 なお、圧電素子が接合される接合部分を含み且つ表示部20が接合されていない領域は、当該領域における圧電素子30の接合部分から表示部20が接合されている領域へ向かう第1の方向における幅が、0.5cm以上5cm以下である。これにより、振動を低減させない領域の大きさを十分確保できるとともに、電子機器が平面方向において大型化しすぎないようにできる。
 このように、第1の実施形態では、電子機器1の振動板100を筐体60の前面に配設することで筐体60と振動板100とを一体的に構成し、それとともに表示部20および圧電素子30を、パネル10に接着して筐体60の内部に収容した。よって、たとえば、筐体の外面に振動体が突出して取り付けられた電子機器と比較して、電子機器の携帯性を向上させることができ、かつ、振動体(すなわち振動板)の損傷のおそれを低減できる。さらに、パネル10に表示部20を接着して固定することで、追加的な部材を用いることなく振動板100の剛性を向上させて振動板100下部の振動による音漏れを低減させることができ、使い勝手を向上させることができる。
 (第2の実施形態)
 図6は第2の実施形態に係る電子機器1の実装構造を示す図である。図6(a)は正面図、図6(b)は図6(a)におけるb-b線に沿った断面図、図6(c)は図6(a)におけるc-c線に沿った断面図である。図6に示す電子機器1は表示部20とこれを保護するカバー用のパネル(アクリル板)10とからなる振動板100が上側の筐体60の前面に配された折りたたみ式の携帯電話である。表示部20は、パネル10に接合部材70で接合される。第2の実施形態では、パネル10と圧電素子30との間には、補強板80が配置される。補強板80は、例えば樹脂製の板、板金またはガラス繊維を含む板である。すなわち、第2の実施形態に係る電子機器1は、圧電素子30と補強板80とが接合部材70により接着され、さらに補強板80とパネル10とが接合部材70で接着される構造である。
 圧電素子30とパネル10との間に補強板80を配置することで、例えば振動板100に外力が加わった場合に、その外力が圧電素子30に伝達され圧電素子30が破損する可能性を低減することができる。また、人体に振動板100を強く接触させても、振動板100の振動が減衰しにくくできる。また、圧電素子30とパネル10との間に補強板80を配置することで、パネル10の共振周波数が下がり、低周波帯域の音響特性が向上する。なお、補強板80に換えて、板状の錘を接合部材70により圧電素子30に取り付けてもよい。
 本発明を諸図面や実施例に基づき説明してきたが、当業者であれば本開示に基づき種々の変形や修正を行うことが容易であることに注意されたい。従って、これらの変形や修正は本発明の範囲に含まれることに留意されたい。例えば、各部材、各ステップなどに含まれる機能などは論理的に矛盾しないように再配置可能であり、複数の構成部やステップなどを1つに組み合わせたり、或いは分割したりすることが可能である。
 例えば、圧電素子30は、パネル10の中央に配設されてもよい。圧電素子30がパネル10の中央に配設された場合、圧電素子30の振動が振動板100全体に均等に伝わり、気導音の品質を向上させたり、利用者が耳を振動板100の様々な位置に接触させても骨導音を認識させたりすることができる。なお、上述の実施形態と同様に、圧電素子30は複数個搭載してもよい。そうした場合においても、表示部20は、パネル10に接着して固定される。そうすることで、圧電素子30の接合部分の周囲を除く他の部分の振動板100の剛性を向上させて振動の減衰量を増大させ、振動による音漏れを低減することができる。
 また、上記の電子機器1においては、圧電素子30はパネル10に貼り付けられているが、パネル10と異なる場所に取り付けられてもよい。例えば、圧電素子30は、筐体60に取り付けられてバッテリ(たとえば充電池)を覆うバッテリリッド(蓋部)に貼り付けられてもよい。この場合、バッテリリッドが振動板に対応する。バッテリリッドは携帯電話機等の電子機器1においてパネル10と異なる面に取り付けられることが多いため、そのような構成によれば、利用者はパネル10と異なる面に体の一部(例えば耳)を接触させて音を聞くことができる。その場合、バッテリリッドにおいて、長手方向の長さが対耳珠から対耳輪下脚までの長さ以上であり、短手方向の長さが耳珠から対耳輪までの長さ以上であることが、骨導音を効率的に伝えるうえで好ましい。また、バッテリリッドにおいて、圧電素子が接合された部分を含む第1の領域の剛性を、圧電素子からの距離が第1の領域から遠い第2の領域の剛性より低くすることで、第1の領域から第2の領域への振動を減衰させることができ、振動による音漏れを低減できる。たとえば、バッテリリッドの第1の領域の厚さより第2の領域の厚さを厚くしたり、第2の領域に他の部材、たとえば電池を保持するための部材等を接合することで、第2の領域の剛性を上げることができる。
 このように、上述の実施形態によれば、電子機器の携帯性を向上させ、良好な使い勝手を得ることができる。
