Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a radiation measuring apparatus, and more particularly to a radiation measuring apparatus that distinguishes and detects ⁇ rays and ⁇ rays.
  • Patent Documents 1 and 2 disclose a radiation measurement apparatus having an ⁇ -ray separation filter and a peak value discrimination circuit.
  • noise is cut by coincidence processing for pulses output from two photomultiplier tubes, and then an ⁇ -ray detection pulse and a ⁇ -ray detection pulse are based on the pulse width of the pulse after the coincidence processing.

  • the unipolar pulse usually has a steep rising part from the rising point to the peak point (also called leading edge) and a relatively gentle falling part from the peak point to the baseline (also called trailing edge).
  • the pulse width of such a detection pulse depends on the line type. In general, the pulse width of the ⁇ -ray detection pulse is larger than the pulse width of the ⁇ -ray detection pulse. Therefore, the pulse width can be used as a reference for line type discrimination.

  • the “rising point” is generally a start point or a front end point (including points corresponding thereto) in a slope existing immediately before the peak point, and the “falling point” generally exists immediately after the peak point. It is an end point or a rear end point (including points corresponding to them) in the slope.
  • the accuracy of pulse width will affect the discrimination accuracy of line type, so it is necessary to configure the circuit so that the pulse width can be specified as accurately as possible.
  • the falling part of the detection pulse has a gentle shape, particularly near the base line, the point crossing the threshold level tends to fluctuate in the time axis direction due to subtle fluctuations in the shape of that part. There's a problem.
  • the pulse peak value is used as the discrimination standard. This is because the pulse width of the detection pulse depends on the peak value, and especially when the amplitude is small, the error tends to increase. In line type discrimination, noise superposition, signal saturation after amplification, influence of proximity pulses, and the like can be considered. Generally, the range where the peak value of the ⁇ -ray detection pulse can take and the range where the peak value of the ⁇ -ray detection pulse can partially overlap, so the It is difficult to discriminate. Abstract
