- Varroa affects adult bees as well as their young. Productivity is affected when the infestation exceeds 10% of adult bees in a colony. When the infestation becomes 30% to 40%, the consequences are devastating. The consequences are decreased body weight and shorter life, so honey production decreases by up to 60%.
