Description

전극조립체 및 그를 포함하는 전지셀
본 발명은 전극조립체 및 그를 포함하는 전지셀에 관한 것으로서, 특히 전극으로부터 전극탭을 인출할 때 코너부분이 형성되지 않게 개선한 전극조립체 및 그를 포함하는 전지셀에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 전지는 화학적 또는 물리적 반응을 이용하여 전기에너지를 얻도록 한 것으로서, 이러한 화학적인 전지는 1차전지와 이차전지로 나누어진다. 즉, 망간전지, 알칼리전지 및 수은전지 등과 같이 한번 사용하고 버리는 전지를 1차 전지라 하고, 충전지나 납축전지처럼 전기를 다 쓰고 난 뒤 다시 충전시켜 사용할 수 있는 전지를 이차전지라 한다.
이러한 이차전지는 전극 조립체의 구조에 따라 다양하게 분류될 수 있다. 일례로 이차전지는 스택형 구조, 권취형(젤리롤형) 구조 또는 스택/폴딩형 구조로 분류될 수 있다. 스택형 구조의 경우 양극, 분리막, 음극을 소정 크기로 절단한 다음에 이들을 차례로 적층하여 전극 조립체를 형성한다. 이때 분리막은 양극과 음극의 사이마다 배치된다. 권취형 구조의 경우 양극, 분리막, 음극, 분리막을 시트 형상으로 형성한 다음에 이들을 차례로 적층하고 권취하여 전극 조립체를 형성한다. 스택/폴딩형 구조의 경우 우선 풀셀 또는 바이셀을 형성한 다음에 이들을 분리막 시트를 통해 권취하여 전극 조립체를 형성한다. 양극, 분리막, 음극을 소정 크기로 절단한 다음에 이들을 차례로 적층하면, 풀셀 또는 바이셀을 형성할 수 있다. 본 발명은 상술한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로, 본 발명의 목적은 전극으로부터 전극탭을 인출할 때 코너부분이 형성되지 않게 개선한 전극조립체 및 그를 포함하는 전지셀을 제공하는데 있다.
상술한 과제를 해결하기 위한 수단으로서, 본 발명에 따른 전극조립체는 제1 전극(110), 제2 전극(120) 및 상기 제1 및 제2 전극(110)(120) 사이에 개재되는 분리막(130)이 상호 적층되는 구조를 가지는 단위셀(A), 또는 상기 단위 셀(A)이 분리막(130)을 개재한 상태로 반복적으로 적층된 구조를 가지며, 상기 제1 전극(110)에는 제1 전극탭(111)이 인출되고, 상기 제2 전극(120)에는 제2 전극탭(121)이 인출되며, 상기 전극탭(111)(121)은 상기 전극(110)(120)으로부터 외측으로 인출될수록 폭이 점차 좁아지게 형성될 수 있다.

또한, 상기 사다리꼴 형태로 형성된 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 측면을 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 함몰되는 곡선부(111b)(121b)로 형성하거나 또는 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 융기된 융기부(111c)(121c)로 형성할 수 있다.
상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)에 각각 결합되는 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)에 각각 결합된 상기 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)의 결합부(141)(151)는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 대응되게 형성될 수 있다.
상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 상기 결합부(141)(151)는 직선부 측면을 가지거나, 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 함몰되는 곡선부 측면을 가지거나, 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 융기된 융기부 측면을 가질 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명에 따른 전지셀은 사다리꼴 형태의 전극탭을 가지는 전극조립체(100); 및 상기 전극조립체(100)를 수용하는 파우치(200)를 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명은 다음과 같은 효과가 있다.
첫째: 전극탭을 전극의 양쪽 꼭짓점으로부터 외측으로 인출될수록 폭이 점차 좁아지는 사다리꼴 형태로 형성하며, 이에 내구성이 취약한 코너부분의 생성을 방지할 수 있다.
둘째: 사다리꼴 형태로 형성된 전극탭의 측면을 직선부, 곡선부 및 융기부 중 어느 하나로 형성하며, 이에 전극탭의 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
셋째: 전극탭에 부착되는 전극리드의 결합부를 전극탭과 대응되게 형성하며, 이에 전극탭과 전극리드의 일체성과 결합성을 높일 수 있다.

이하, 첨부한 도면을 참조하여 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 본 발명의 실시예를 상세히 설명한다. 그러나 본 발명은 여러 가지 상이한 형태로 구현될 수 있으며 여기에서 설명하는 실시예에 한정되지 않는다. 그리고 도면에서 본 발명을 명확하게 설명하기 위해서 설명과 관계없는 부분은 생략하였으며, 명세서 전체를 통하여 유사한 부분에 대해서는 유사한 도면 부호를 붙였다.
[본 발명에 따른 전극조립체]
본 발명에 따른 전극조립체(100)는 도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 것과 같이, 제1 전극(110), 제2 전극(120) 및 상기 제1 및 제2 전극(110)(120) 사이에 개재되는 분리막(130)이 상호 적층되는 구조를 가지는 단위셀(A), 또는 상기 단위 셀(A)이 분리막을 개재한 상태로 반복적으로 적층된 구조를 가질 수 있다.
보다 구체적으로 본 발명에 따른 전극조립체(100)는 도 2에서 도시된 것과 같이 제1 전극(110), 분리막(130) 및 제2 전극(120)이 상측에서 하측으로 순차적으로 적층되어 형성될 수 있다. 이때 제1 전극(110)과 제2 전극(120)은 서로 반대되는 전극이다. 예를 들어, 제1 전극(110)이 양극이면 제2 전극(120)은 음극이다. 물론 이의 반대일 수도 있다.
한편, 전극은 다음과 같은 공정을 통해 제조된다. 먼저 탭이 인출된 집전호일이 준비되고, 이 준비된 집전호일의 일면 또는 양면에 전극활물질이 도포되면서 전극이 제조된다. 이때 집전호일에 제1 전극 활물질이 도포되면 제1 전극탭(111)이 인출된 제1 전극(110)이 제조되고, 집전호일에 제2 전극 활물질이 도포되면 제2 전극탭(121)이 인출된 제2 전극(120)이 제조된다.
여기서 전극(110)(120)으로부터 인출된 전극탭(111)(121)은 얇은 집전호일로부터 연장되어 인출되기에 내구성이 취약하며, 특히 전극탭(111)(121)과 전극(110)(120)이 연결되는 코너부분은 외부 충격에 의해 진동이 발생할 경우 크랙이 발생할 우려가 있다.
이에, 본 발명에 따른 전극조립체(100)는 상기 전극(110)(120)으로부터 외측으로 인출되는 전극탭(111)(121)이 구비되고, 전극탭(111)(121)은 전극(110)(120)으로부터 외측으로 인출될수록 폭이 점차 좁아지게 형성한다. 즉, 전극탭(111)(121)은 사다리꼴 형태를 가진다. 이에 사다리꼴 형태의 전극탭(111)(121)은 전극(110)(120)과 연결되는 코너부분을 제거할 수 있고, 내구성 향상 및 크랙 발생을 방지할 수 있다.
일례로, 본 발명에 따른 전극탭(111)(121)은 도 2 및 3에 도시된 것과 같이, 전극조립체(100)에서 양측 방향으로 인출되게 형성된다. 특히 전극탭(111)(121)은 전극(110)(120)의 양쪽 꼭짓점(1b)(2b)으로부터 외측으로 대칭되게 인출된다.
즉, 제1 전극탭(111)은 제1 전극(110) 일측의 양쪽 꼭짓점(1b)으로부터 외측으로 인출되고, 제2 전극탭(121)은 제2 전극(110) 타측의 양쪽 꼭짓점(2b)으로부터 외측으로 인출된다.
이에, 본 발명에 따른 전극탭(111)(121)은 전극조립체(100)에서 전극의 양쪽 꼭짓점으로부터 인출되게 형성함에 따라 전극탭(111)(121)의 면적과 내구성을 높일 수 있다. 특히 전극탭(111)(121)은 사다리꼴 형태를 가짐에 따라 전극탭(111)(121)과 전극(110)(120)이 연결되는 코너부분을 완전히 제거할 수 있고, 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
여기서 본 발명에 따른 전극탭(111)(121)의 측면은 내구성을 높이기 위한 형상을 가질 수 있다.
제1 실시예로, 사다리꼴 형태로 형성된 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 직선부(111a)(121a) 측면을 가진다. 즉, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 도 3에 도시된 것과 같이, 일측 끝단에서 타측 끝단까지 직선인 직선부(111a)(121a)로 형성하며, 이는 직선부(111a)(121a)에 응력이 균일하게 분산됨에 따라 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
제2 실시예로, 사다리꼴 형태로 형성된 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)는 측면을 곡선부(111b)(121b)로 형성할 수 있다. 즉, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)의 측면은 도 4에 도시된 것과 같이, 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 함몰되는 곡선부(111b)(121b)로 형성하며, 이는 곡선부(111b)(121b)을 따라 응력이 가이드되면서 분산되어 내구성을 높일 수 있다. 특히 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)의 측면 전체를 곡선화함에 따라 내구성이 취약한 부분이 형성되는 것을 미연에 방지할 수 있다.
제3 실시예로, 사다리꼴 형태로 형성된 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 측면을 중앙이 볼록한 융기부(111c)(121c)로 형성할 수 있다. 즉, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)의 측면은 도 5에 도시된 것과 같이, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)의 측면은 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 융기된 융기부(111c)(121c)로 형성될 수 있으며, 이는 융기된 융기부(111c)(121c)에 응력이 균일하게 분산되는 한편, 전극탭의 면적 증대로 인해 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
따라서 본 발명에 따른 전극조립체(100)는 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)을 양방향으로 인출되게 형성하고, 특히, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)을 전극(110)(120)의 양쪽 꼭짓점(1b)(2b)으로부터 외측으로 사다리꼴 형태로 인출하여 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명에 따른 전극조립체(100)는 도 6에 도시된 것과 같이, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)에 각각 결합되는 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)가 포함될 수 있다.
즉, 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)는 도 7에 도시된 바와 같이, 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)에 각각 결합되는 결합부(141)(151)를 형성하며, 결합부(141)(151)는 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 대응되게 사다리꼴 형태를 가진다. 이에 전극탭과 전극리드의 결합력 및 내구성을 함께 증대시킬 수 있다.
여기서, 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)의 결합부(141)(151) 측면은 전극탭의 측면과 동일한 형상을 가질 수 있다.
제1 실시예로, 상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 결합부(141)(151)는 직선부 측면을 가지는 사다리꼴 형태로 형성되며, 이는 직선부에 응력이 균일하게 분산됨에 따라 내구성을 높일 수 있다.(도 7 참조).
제2 실시예로, 상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 결합부(141)(151)는 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 함몰되는 곡선부 측면을 가지며, 이는 곡선부를 통해 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
제3 실시예로, 상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 상기 결합부(141)(151)는 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 융기된 융기부 측면을 가지며, 이는 전극탭과 전극리드의 면적 증대로 인해 내구성을 높일 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명에 따른 다른 실시예를 설명함에 있어 전술한 실시예와 동일한 구성과 기능을 가지는 구성에 대해서는 동일한 구성부호를 사용하며, 중복되는 설명은 생략한다.
[본 발명에 따른 전지셀]
본 발명에 따른 전지셀은 도 8에 도시된 것과 같이, 전극조립체(100) 및 전극조립체(100)를 수용하는 파우치(200)가 포함될 수 있다.
전극조립체(100)는 제1 전극(110), 제2 전극(120) 및 상기 제1 및 제2 전극(110)(120) 사이에 개재되는 분리막(130)이 상호 적층되는 구조를 가지는 단위셀(A), 또는 상기 단위 셀(A)이 분리막(130)을 개재한 상태로 반복적으로 적층된 구조를 가질 수 있다. 그리고 제1 전극(110)에는 제1 전극탭(111)이 인출되고, 제2 전극(120)에는 제2 전극탭(121)이 인출된다.
여기서 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 전극조립체(100)에서 양측 방향으로 인출되게 형성되며, 특히 전극(110)(120)의 양쪽 꼭짓점으로부터 외측으로 대칭되게 인출될 수 있다.
한편, 전극조립체(100)는 전술한 실시예에서 자세히 설명하였기에 여기서는 자세한 설명을 생략한다.
파우치(200)는 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)가 양측으로 인출된 상태로 전극조립체(100)가 내장된다.
따라서 본 발명에 따른 전지셀은 사다리꼴 형태의 전극탭을 가지는 전극조립체(100)을 포함함으로써 파우치(200)에 외부의 충격이 가해지더라도 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)이 파손되거나 또는 파단되는 것을 방지할 수 있다. 즉 내구성이 우수한 전지셀을 완성할 수 있다.
본 발명의 범위는 상기 상세한 설명보다는 후술하는 특허청구범위에 의하여 나타내어지며, 특허청구범위의 의미 및 범위 그리고 그 균등 개념으로부터 도출되는 모든 변경 또는 변형된 형태가 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 한다.

Claims (12)

  1. 제1 전극(110), 제2 전극(120) 및 상기 제1 및 제2 전극(110)(120) 사이에 개재되는 분리막(130)이 상호 적층되는 구조를 가지는 단위셀(A), 또는 상기 단위 셀(A)이 분리막(130)을 개재한 상태로 반복적으로 적층된 구조를 가지는 전극조립체에 있어서,
    상기 제1 전극(110)에는 제1 전극탭(111)이 인출되고, 상기 제2 전극(120)에는 제2 전극탭(121)이 인출되며,
    상기 전극탭(111)(121)은 상기 전극(110)(120)으로부터 외측으로 인출될수록 폭이 점차 좁아지게 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 전극조립체의 양측방향에 각각 인출되고, 상기 전극(110)(120)의 양쪽 꼭짓점(1b)(2b)으로부터 외측으로 인출되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  3. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 사다리꼴 형태로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  4. 청구항 3에 있어서,
    상기 사다리꼴 형태로 형성된 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 직선부(111a)(121a) 측면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  5. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 함몰되는 곡선부(111b)(121b) 측면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  6. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)은 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 융기된 융기부(111c)(121c) 측면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  7. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)에 각각 결합되는 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  8. 청구항 7에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)에 각각 결합된 상기 제1 및 제2 전극리드(140)(150)의 결합부(141)(151)는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 대응되게 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  9. 청구항 8에 있어서,
    상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 상기 결합부(141)(151)는 직선부 측면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  10. 청구항 8에 있어서,
    상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 상기 결합부(141)(151)는 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 함몰되는 곡선부 측면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  11. 청구항 8에 있어서,
    상호 대응하는 상기 제1 및 제2 전극탭(111)(121)과 상기 결합부(141)(151)는 양측 끝단으로부터 중앙으로 갈수록 점차 융기된 융기부 측면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전극조립체.
  12. 청구항 1 내지 청구항 11 중 어느 하나의 청구항에 의해 제조되는 전극조립체(100); 및
    상기 전극조립체(100)를 수용하는 파우치(200)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
