Abstract

 石炭などの燃料を加熱ガス化して合成ガスを製造するプロセスにおいて、高温、高濃度水蒸気存在下、後工程へのハロゲン化合物ガスのリークを低減するための吸収剤を提供する。 本発明は、塩基性カルシウム化合物を30~90質量%、カルシウム以外の金属化合物及び/または粘土鉱物を10~70質量%含有するハロゲン化合物吸収剤、及びその吸収剤を使用した合成ガスの製造方法に関する。

Description

ハロゲン化合物吸収剤およびそれを用いた合成ガスの製造方法
 本発明は、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤、及びそれを用いた合成ガスの製造方法に関する。
 近年、石油資源代替、地球環境汚染防止等の観点から、新エネルギー実用化に向けて多様な技術開発が進められている。例えば、ガス化炉中で石炭を1000℃以上に加熱しながら、スチームと酸化剤(空気もしくは酸素)をガス化炉に導入し、石炭を部分的に燃焼(部分酸化法)させながら水素と一酸化炭素COを主成分とする合成ガスを製造する方法が注目されている。その合成ガスは、メタノールなどの合成化学原料用途以外に、燃料電池用水素ガス燃料、火力発電用燃料などに利用可能なため、そのプロセス改良が熱心に進められている(特許文献1)。
 また、石炭以外の資源の有効利用の視点から、バイオマス由来の資源化や産業廃棄物、都市廃棄物などの再利用化のための技術が求められている。その有力な手段として、上記の部分酸化法と同様の原理による粗製合成ガス製造プロセスがある(特許文献2)。このような粗製合成ガス製造の原料は、天然ガス、石油など一般に使用される燃料に比べて不純物が多く含まれ、結果として粗製合成ガス中にハロゲン化合物、硫化物、水銀などの不純物が多く含まれることになる。これらハロゲン化合物などの不純物は、環境への悪影響ばかりでなく、合成ガス製造工程における化学反応触媒の被毒や装置腐食などを誘発するため、その除去は極めて重要な課題となっている。
 そのようなガス化炉から出た粗製合成ガスを、精製ガスとして送出し、それぞれの用途に供するまでの合成ガス製造工程は、粗製合成ガスの原料の種類、合成ガスの用途、要求品質などにより変化するため、その変化に対応できるよう多様な方法が提案されている。その一例として、脱硫前にシフト反応を行わせる(サワーシフト)工程を示すと、図1のブロック図のようになる。
 図1では、ガス化炉から出た粗製ガス中の塩化水素などのハロゲン化合物は、吹き込まれた消石灰などのアルカリ薬剤に吸収されてバグフィルターで集塵される。バグフィルターを通過した粗製ガスは、水銀除去装置、次いでハロゲン化合物ガス吸収装置を通した後、CO転化装置中でシフト触媒によりCO濃度を低下させ、水素濃度を増大させる。その後、合成ガスは脱硫装置に導かれ、硫化水素などの硫黄化合物が除去されて精製ガスとして送出され、それぞれの用途に供される。
 図1の工程のシフト反応装置の直前のハロゲン化合物吸収(二次処理)に使用されるハロゲン化合物吸収剤には、ガス化炉の直後のハロゲン化合物一次処理用吸収剤などに使用される一般のハロゲン化合物吸収剤に比べて、多くの厳しい性能が必要とされる。第一に必要とされる性能は高温、高湿における長時間の精密除去性能である。
 合成ガス製造プロセスにおけるハロゲン化合物二次処理用吸収剤は、COをCOに変換し、水素濃度を上げる、いわゆる水性ガス変換反応(シフト反応)装置の上流側に設けられている。このためのハロゲン化合物吸収剤の第一の機能は、塩素により被毒されるFe-Cr、Cu-Zn、Co-MoあるいはNi-Mo系等の触媒に対して、塩素をブロックして、触媒を保護することにある。シフト触媒には高温、高濃度スチームを含む精製合成ガスを送り込む必要があり、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤には、そのような過酷な条件で長時間にわたり、ハロゲン化合物を例えば0.1ppm以下に除去できる高い吸収能力が必要とされる。
 ハロゲン化合物吸収剤に要求される第1の特性に塩基としての強さがあり、その材料にはアルカリ金属やアルカリ土類金属などの金属化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 ハロゲン化合物吸収剤に要求される第2の特性としては、高温、高スチーム濃度の中での機械的強度の維持、向上が挙げられる。例えば、従来ハロゲン化合物吸収剤として知られる酸化亜鉛系材料を使用すると、酸化亜鉛が粗製合成ガス中の水蒸気を吸収して潮解し、圧損を生じるなどの問題が発生する(特許文献2)。また、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤が潮解せずとも、ハロゲン化合物を吸収した吸収剤が粉塵化しないような物理強度を持たせることも非常に重要である。例えば吸収剤が塩化水素を吸収して粉塵化すると、その後のシフト反応装置に飛散し、触媒を被毒させ、プロセス故障の原因となりやすい。
 ハロゲン化合物の吸収剤に要求される第3の性能として、硫化水素の透過性が挙げられる。脱硫前にシフト反応を行わせる場合(サワーシフト;図1、2)には、Co-MoあるいはNi-Mo系触媒がシフト反応触媒として使用されることが多い。それらの触媒は硫化物により活性化されて、シフト反応速度が向上する。そのような場合、ガス化炉で不純物として生じた硫化水素を活性化に使用することが好ましく、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤を通過する際に、硫化水素が吸収されずに通過して、シフト触媒上で粗製合成ガス中に硫化水素が残留していることが必要となる。
 ハロゲン化合物の吸収剤に要求される第4の性能として、固体状態で高い吸収性能を示すことが挙げられる。ハロゲン化合物吸収剤には、水溶液としてスクラバー中で使用されるものがある。そのようなスクラバー中に粗製合成ガスを通過させる方法は、粗製合成ガスが冷却され、火力発電用タービンなどを運転する場合には、再度昇温させる必要があり、エネルギー効率が低下する。
 粗製合成ガスのハロゲン化合物吸収二次処理工程における上記のような多くの厳しい要求に対応させるための手段としては、従来から知られている炭酸ナトリウム、炭酸カルシウム、水酸化カルシウム、水酸化ナトリウムなどの塩基化合物を使用することが先ず想到される。しかしながら、これらの化合物は、ガス化炉から排出された粗製合成ガスに吹き込む一次処理用としては好適に使用できても、合成ガスシフト反応の前のハロゲン精密フィルターとして使用する場合には、十分な性能を示さず、上述の要求レベルを達成させることができない。
 以上述べた如く、粗製合成ガス中のシフト反応の前処理としてのハロゲン化合物吸収材料には、多くの厳しい要件が求められており、従来そのような材料は見出されていないのが実情である。

 本発明は、上記状況を鑑みてなされたもので、粗製合成ガス中に含まれるハロゲン化合物、特に塩素化合物を高温、高スチーム条件下でも精密除去できる高い吸収能力を持ったハロゲン化合物吸収剤、およびそれを用いた合成ガス製造方法を提去することを目的とする。
 本発明の他の目的は、ハロゲン化合物を吸収した吸収剤の飛散を防止させることにより、後段のシフト反応触媒の被毒を防止することにある。
 本発明の更に別の目的は、シフト反応触媒を活性化する硫化水素ガスを通過させることのできるハロゲン化合物吸収剤、およびそれを用いた合成ガス製造方法を提供することにある。
 更に本発明の別の目的は、処理乾式化により熱消費を低減させてランニングコストを改善するハロゲン化合物吸収剤と、合成ガス製造方法を提供することにある。
 本発明者等はこうした実状に鑑み、従来技術の欠点を解決すべく鋭意検討した結果、本発明の課題を解決するための次のような指針を得た。
(1)塩化水素などの酸性ハロゲン化合物に対して高い吸収率を持たせるためには、酸―塩基反応を用いることが好ましい。そのような塩基性化合物としては、アルカリ金属やアルカリ土類金属などの金属の化合物が候補材料となる。
(2)特に、粗製合成ガスのように高濃度の水蒸気を含むガスの場合には、吸収剤はハロゲンと水を吸収した状態で、フィルター機能を維持する必要がある。そのためにはハロゲン、水を吸収した状態で、フィルター構造を維持できる材料の探索が必要である。
(3)水酸化ナトリウムなどの強塩基を吸収剤として使用すれば、ハロゲン化合物の吸収能力が増大することは容易に想定できる。しかしながら、水酸化ナトリウムは硫化水素と反応して硫化水素を通過させない恐れがある他、水を接触すると激しく発熱するために、希釈溶液を担体に担持させて使用する他なく、その場合、吸収剤当たりの金属量が少なくなりハロゲン化合物の吸収能力が低減してしまう。よって、ハロゲン化合物を吸収し、同じ酸性の硫化水素を通過させるためには、単にアルカリであれば良いということにはならず、そのための材料探索が必要である。
(4)本発明者らは上記の視点から、種々の塩基性材料について検討した結果、上記の要求を満たすためには、塩基性に加えて、吸収剤の物理強度も必要ではないかと考えた。そのためにハロゲンと水を吸収した状態でも尚、フィルター機能を維持できるよう、物性改良が必要と考えられた。
 本発明者らは、以上の指針を基に種々の材料を探索した結果、従来からハロゲン吸収能が高いことで知られる水酸化カルシウム(消石灰)に注目した。その理由は、水酸化カルシウムは強塩基ではあるが、水溶性が小さいために弱塩基のような挙動をしめすため、取り扱い、安全性などで好ましいこと、またケイ素やアルミニウムなどの異種金属化合物の混合、変性により、その物理的強度などを容易に増強、調整できることにある。その指針を基に、カルシウム化合物を主成分としつつ、多くの材料を探索した。その結果、水酸化カルシウムに異種金属化合物を適量混合、成形、乾燥、焼成することにより、上述の要求を満たすことのできるハロゲン化合物吸収剤を見出し、本発明に到達した。
 即ち本発明は、
(1)塩基性カルシウム化合物を30~90質量%、カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物または粘土鉱物を10~70質量%含む、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(2)塩基性カルシウム化合物が、水酸化カルシウム、炭酸カルシウム、酸化カルシウム及びアルミン酸カルシウムから選択された1種または2種類以上の化合物である、上記(1)に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(3)塩基性カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物が、カルシウム以外の金属、特にアルミニウム及びニッケルの水酸化物、酸化物、炭酸塩またはそれらの混合物である、上記(1)または(2)に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(4)塩基性カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物が水酸化アルミニウム、酸化アルミニウム、酸化ニッケル、炭酸ニッケル、水酸化ニッケル、ベーマイト、珪藻土、アタパルジャイトから選ばれた1種または2種以上の混合物である、上記(1)~(3)のいずれか一つに記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(5)塩基性カルシウム化合物が水酸化カルシウムであり、カルシウム以外の金属化合物の金属がアルミニウムまたはニッケルである、上記(1)~(4)のいずれか一つに記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(6)BET法測定による表面積が20~300m/gである、上記(1)~(5)のいずれか一つに記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(7)細孔容積が0.1~1.0ml/gである、上記(1)~(6)のいずれか一つに記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(8)タブレットまたはペレットの形態で50~250Nの強度を有する、上記(1)~(7)のいずれか一つに記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤;
(9)合成ガスの製造方法であって、
 a)原料を水蒸気の存在下に加熱して粗製合成ガスを調製するステップ、及び
 b)ステップa)からの粗製合成ガスを、上記(1)~(8)のいずれか一つに記載のハロゲン吸収剤と接触させるステップ、
を含む、前記方法;
(10)ステップb)に導入される粗製合成ガスの温度が、200℃以上、600℃以下である、上記(9)に記載の方法;
(11)ステップb)に導入される粗製合成ガスが、10~50体積%の割合で水蒸気を含む、上記(9)または(10)に記載の方法;
(12)粗製合成ガスを、ステップb)の上流で、予めハロゲン化合物の一次処理に付して粗製合成ガスに含まれるハロゲン化合物の量を減少し、その後二次処理としてのステップb)において残留ハロゲン化合物を更に低減させる、上記(9)~(11)のいずれか一つに記載の方法;

 本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤は、高温、高水蒸気濃度の過酷な条件でも粗製合成ガスを透過しつつ、後段のシフト触媒にとって有害なハロゲン化合物を選択的に長時間にわたり低濃度、例えば0.1ppm以下まで除去できる。また後段のサワーシフト触媒に有用な硫化水素の透過性が高く、且つ乾式処理が可能なため、熱エネルギーの消費を抑制し、プラントのランニングコストを低減できるリーク防止剤を提供する。また、本発明は、脱硫後のシフト反応(スウィートシフト反応)のシフト触媒、例えばFe-Cr系、Cu-Zn系触媒に対しても、それらのハロゲン被毒を防止できるハロゲン化合物吸収剤を提供する。更に本発明は、上記ハロゲン化合物吸収剤を用いたサワーシフト、スウィートシフト両方の工程に適用可能な、ハロゲン化合物の精密除去方法を提供する。

 本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤は塩基性カルシウム化合物を30~90質量%、好ましくは50~80質量%、カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物または粘土鉱物を10~70質量%、好ましくは20~50質量%含む。塩基性カルシウム化合物の例は、水酸化カルシウム、炭酸カルシウム、水酸化カルシウム及びアルミン酸カルシウムから選ばれた一種または二種類以上の混合物である。本発明の塩基性カルシウム化合物は、塩基性カルシウム化合物の全質量の70%以上、特に好ましくは90%以上が、水酸化カルシウムとして存在することが好ましい。
 前記塩基性カルシウム化合物は他の金属化合物及び/または粘土鉱物と質量比で90~30対10~70の割合で混合し、焼成後使用する。他の金属元素としては、例えばAl、Si、Ti、Mg、Fe、Ni、Vなど多くの元素から適宜選択されて使用可能であるが、その中でAl、Si、Mg、Ni、特にその中でもAlが好ましい。
 他の金属化合物はとして金属酸化物、水酸化物、炭酸塩などが使用され、またそれらの化合物の1種、または2種以上の混合物を使用することができる。またそれらは人工物、または天然物のいずれであってもよい。特にこのましいのはアルミナまたはベーマイトまたはその混合物である。またAl,Si,Mg等の元素を含む化合物としては合成物に限定されず、それら元素を含む粘土、珪藻土、アタパルジャイト等の天然物であってもよい。
 塩基性カルシウム化合物は他の金属化合物及び/または粘土鉱物、水などと混合、混練され、必要な形状に成形される。それを例えば空気雰囲気中で、200~700℃の温度、特に好ましくは250~500℃で焼成して本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤を得ることができる。
 本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤の好ましい形状には、タブレット、ペレットまたは顆粒が挙げられる。サイズは特に制限がないが、プロセス上、ガスの空間速度に合わせてサイズを適切に調整することが好ましい。一例として、焼成後に直径1.0~8.0mm、さらに好ましくは2.5~6.0mmの球形、もしくは円筒状が好ましい。また長径が上記と同様の範囲にある楕円体、その他の形状も好適に使用される。これらの数値範囲以下の形状の場合、合成ガスなどの目的ガスの透過速度が低下して生産効率が低下する恐れがある。一方これらの数値範囲以上の形状の場合、ハロゲン化合物が吸収されずにリークする懸念が増大する傾向がある。
 本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤は、焼成後において好ましくは表面積20~300m/g、特に好ましくは30~200m/gである。細孔容積は好ましくは0.1~1.0ml/g、特に好ましくは0.15~0.6ml/gである。表面積が20m/g以下ではハロゲン化合物吸収性が小さく、リークしやすくなり、また300m/g以上では、吸収剤の物理的強度が低下する傾向がある。同様に、細孔容積が0.1ml/g以下では、孔詰まりのために吸収性能が低下しやすく、また1.0ml/g以上では、孔の側壁厚みが薄くなり、他のペレットなどと接触などしたときに破損しやすくなり、その結果、ガスを通す際に圧損が生じ、目的ガスの透過性が低下しやすくなる。これらの細孔径は、0.01~1.0μmが好ましい。
 本発明の吸収剤を固定床で使用して必要とするガス濾過性を得るために、押出成形法などにより、タブレットやペレットなど適切な形状とすることが有利である。その形状を維持するために、ペレットやタブレットは50~250N、特に70~200Nの強度を持つことが好ましい。50Nより小さいと、タブレットなどの形状が崩壊して圧損を生じやすい。また250N以上の強度を得ようとすると、細孔がつぶれるなどの副作用を伴い、好ましくない。
 本発明の塩基性カルシウム化合物を30~90質量%、カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物または粘土鉱物を10~70質量%を含む吸収剤が、カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物や粘土鉱物を含まない材料に比べて何故優れたフィルター機能を発揮できるのか、また合成ガスを選択的に通過させることができるのか、そのメカニズムについてはまだ不明な点が多い。それを敢えて推定すると以下のようになる。
 即ち、前述したように水酸化カルシウムそのものはハロゲン化合物の吸収能は高いが、乾燥した状態で物理強度が小さいため、フィルター構造として必要な形状を維持することが難しい。そのために塩化水素、水蒸気などに接触すると吸湿性の塩化カルシウムとなって潮解し、通過させるべき合成ガスなどに圧力損失などを生じて、必要な透過性能が得られなくなる。それに対して本発明である水酸化カルシウムに水酸化アルミニウムなどの構造強化材を添加した系は焼成後の物理強度が向上し、ハロゲンや水蒸気を含む高温の粗製ガスに接触しても、そのフィルターとしての形状、機能を維持することが可能となるためと推測している。
 また本発明の吸収剤が何故、ハロゲン化合物を吸収し、同じ酸性の硫化水素ガスを通過させることができるのか、その理由についても不明な点が多い。それを敢えて推測すると以下のようになる。
 即ち塩化水素は強酸であり、一方硫化水素は弱酸である。それに対して水酸化カルシウムは強酸ではあるが水溶性が小さいために弱酸としての挙動を示すと言われている。強酸の塩化水素と弱酸の硫化水素が同時にハロゲン化合物吸収剤に接触すると、HClが優先的に水酸化カルシウムと中和反応を起こし、硫化水素は一部吸収されるものの、中和にあずかれない多くの硫化水素が吸収剤から押し出されるようにして排出されるものと推測される。
 以上述べた硫化水素の透過メカニズムの真偽、もしくは妥当性は別として、後の実施例で述べる如く、本発明の吸収剤は、硫化水素をよく透過する。また本発明の吸収剤のハロゲン化合物リーク防止性能は極めて高い。このことは、種々の異なった合成ガスプロセスに対して、本吸収剤はフレキシブルに対応できる点で、大きなメリットとなる。
 図1に基づいて、本発明のハロゲン化合物除去剤を使用する合成ガス製造方法を説明する。
 図1に示すように、ガス化炉で生成された粗製合成ガスを高温(例えば450℃)(露点を上回る運転温度)のまま、ハロゲン化合物の一次吸収剤が吹き込まれる。その結果、塩化水素(HCl)及びフッ化水素(HF)の一部がそのハロゲン化合物吸収剤に吸収され、一次処理される。ハロゲン化合物を吸収した粉末はバグフィルターで、例えば、180℃から230℃の温度条件で濾過される。これにより、ダスト等の固体状不純物が濾過されて除去されると共に、ハロゲン化合物の大半が除去(粗精製)され、一部のハロゲン化合物はバグフィルターを通過する。この一次処理のハロゲン化合物吸収剤は本発明のハロゲン化合物の吸収剤でもよいし、汎用の水酸化カルシウムや炭酸ナトリウムなどの塩基性化合物でもよい。
 バグフィルターの下流には水銀除去反応器が備えられ、その中には水銀吸収剤として例えば、銅系化合物を主体とした吸収剤が充填されている。水銀除去反応器では粗製合成ガスに含まれる水銀が除去される。
 水銀除去反応器の下流にはさらにハロゲン化合物精密除去反応器が備えられている。このハロゲン化合物除去反応器には固定床型の充填槽に本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤が、例えばペレット状で充填されている。ハロゲン化合物除去反応器ではハロゲン化合物である塩化水素(HCl)及びフッ化水素(HF)が同時に精密に、例えば0.1ppm以下に吸収除去される。
 ハロゲン化合物が精密に除去された合成ガスを、脱硫前のシフト反応(サワーシフト反応)に付すことにより、水素リッチの合成ガス(シンガス)が得られる。この合成ガスをさらに脱硫して、メタノール合成、FT(フィッシャートロプス)合成、アンモニア合成用などの化学原料、もしくはタービン発電燃料、燃料電池用燃料ガス等として使用される。
 図2に示すシステムは、図1に示すシステムと類似する。この場合ガス化炉から出たガスは、湿式スクラバーによりハロゲン化合物の一次吸収、水銀などの除去が行われ、次いで図1と同様のハロゲン化合物吸収二次処理が行われる。
 尚、図1、2共に、脱硫前にシフト反応を行わせる工程(サワーシフト)を示しているが、これらに限らず、図3の脱硫後にシフト反応(スウィートシフト反応)を行わせることも可能である。このスウィートシフト反応は、シフト触媒の活性化に、硫化水素を特に必要としない場合に行われる。本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤は、硫化水素を含まない粗製合成ガスに対しても精密除去機能を持つため、このようなスイートシフトプロセスの形の合成ガス製造のためにも好適に使用することができる。尚、図3の脱硫装置は、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤の前に置くことも同様に可能である。
 図1で述べた如く、ガス化炉から送り出されたガスは、高温で、水蒸気含有のままハロゲン除去剤粉により一次処理(粗精製)され、続いて水銀が除去された後、固定床型充填槽に充填された本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤によりハロゲン化合物が精密に除去される。このように、ハロゲン化合物を粗精製と精密精製に分離することにより、0.1ppm以下にリーク濃度を低下させることができると共に、前段の吸収剤、後段の吸収剤の消費量を抑制できる。また乾式で処理できるために熱エネルギーの消費も少ない。更にハロゲン化合物が吸収された廃棄物は、塩化カルシウムなどとして後処理、再利用が容易であるために、環境に及ぼす負荷も小さい。本発明の吸収剤は、アルミニウムなどの異種金属による改質の結果、固定床型充填槽への充填時の吸収剤の粉塵化、後工程への飛散を防止している。このような飛散は、反応装置の機械的振動などが大きいと発生しやすいため、本発明の吸収剤はプロセスの信頼性をより高めることが可能となる。
 以下は本発明を実施例により詳しく説明するが、本発明の範囲は、これらの実施例に限定されるものではない。
実施例1
 ハロゲン化合物吸収剤I(Ca-Al系)を以下の方法で調製した。70%質量の水酸化カルシウムと30%質量の水酸化アルミニウムをよく混合し、その混合物質量に対して、さらに20%~30%質量の水を加えて、ニーダーにより10~30min混練した。次いで、押出成形機により、直径4.5mmの円筒状に押出し、ペレットに成形した。得られた成形体を、空気雰囲気で300℃、1時間加熱、焼成し、本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤Iを得た。得られたペレットの物性は以下の通りであった。

細孔容積:0.24ml/g
ペレット圧壊強度:146N
 表面積は、N2ガス吸着法(BET一点法)により測定した。
 細孔容積は水銀圧入法により測定した。
 ペレットの圧壊強度は専用の触媒ペレット圧壊強度測定機器を使用して測定した。試料台に載置した試料に上から一定なスピードで加圧円柱を降下させ、試料台と加圧円柱に挟まれて圧縮された試料が圧壊したときの荷重値を試料の圧壊強度として記録する。本発明で表示したペレットの圧壊強度は長さ約8mmの30個ペレットの測定結果の平均値である。
実施例2
 実施例1の水酸化アルミニウムの代わりに炭酸ニッケルを使用する以外、実施例1と同様の方法により、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤の混練物を調製した。次いで焼成温度を350℃とした以外は、実施例1と同様の方法により、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤IIを作成した。得られたペレットの物性は以下の通りであった(測定方法は同上)。

実施例3
 図4のブロックダイアグラムで示されるハロゲン化合物の除去特性評価装置を使用して、上記実施例1のCa-Al系の吸収剤のHClの吸収性能を測定、評価した。内径20mmの反応管1に実施例1の吸収剤Iを20ml充填し、その出口を閉じたあと、窒素ガス圧力を10分以上観測し、ガス漏れがないことを確認した。次いで、Nガスを流しながら1時間で320℃まで昇温する。図示しない精密液体質量流量器で水の流量8.4ml/minをコントロールしながら、供給した水を気化器で気化させHClとNガスを混合させた後、320℃に昇温した触媒層に流した。反応管の出口から出た反応ガスはコンデンサー3により冷却され、凝縮した水蒸気を容器4に滴下させる。この凝縮、滴下した液体を1時間毎にサンプリングして、イオンクロマトグラフィー法により塩化水素濃度の測定を行った。塩化水素は水に対する溶解性が極めて大きいため、上記水と一緒に凝縮する。塩化水素と水蒸気を吸収剤Iに通過させてリーク性能を測定する実験時間を6時間とした。
 その他の実験条件は、塩化水素/水蒸気混合気体の流速(空間速度)5000h-1、ガス反応管の入口のガス中のHClは0.1体積%、HOは30体積%、HOとN混合ガスの流量は1667L/min.とした。
 実施例1の吸収剤I(Ca-Al系吸収剤)はガス流通後、6時間経過後においても、凝縮した液体サンプル中に塩素イオンが検出されなかった。
実施例4
 実施例2の吸収剤(Ca-Ni系)を用いた以外は、実施例3と同様にテストした。6時間後、出口からHClのリークは確認できず、またコンデンサーからの凝縮液体中にも塩素は検出されなかった。
比較例1
 NaO,Alの組成を有する吸収剤(Na含有率:約6.5質量%)を、吸収剤比較例1として準備した。その比較例1サンプルを実施例3と同様の方法で測定評価した。その結果、1時間後、出口容器4中の20g液体サンプルに3mgのHClが確認された。体積濃度に換算すると137ppmのリーク濃度であった。
比較例2
 ナトリウム型13Xゼオライトを、吸収剤比較例2として準備した。その比較例2サンプルを実施例3と同様の方法で測定評価した。その結果、4時間後に、出口容器中の18gの液体サンプルに2mgのHClが確認された。 体積濃度に換算すると97ppmのリーク濃度であった。
比較例3
 合成ハイドロタルサイト(Mg(OH)-Al)を吸収剤比較例3として準備した。その比較例3サンプルを実施例3と同様の方法で測定評価した。
 その結果、2時間後、出口容器4中の20gの液体サンプルに4mgのHClが確認された。体積濃度に換算すると214ppmの塩化水素リーク濃度であった。
比較例4
 鉄-マンガン複合酸化物(酸化鉄含有率:50重量%以上)を、吸収剤の比較例4として準備した。その比較例4サンプルを実施例3と同様の方法で測定評価した。
 その結果、3時間後、出口容器4中の20g液体サンプルに4mgのHClが確認された。体積濃度に換算すると214ppmの塩化水素リーク濃度であった。
 実施例1~2、及び比較例1~4の実験データを表1に示す。

実施例5
 実施例1のCa-Al系の吸収剤を用い、図4の装置を用い、上記とは実験条件を変えて評価を行った。混合ガスの流速(体積速度)を実施例3の1/2(2500h-1)とし、塩化水素ガス0.05体積%、水蒸気30体積%、残りをNとする混合ガスを1250ml/minの条件で流した。また触媒は直径1.4~1.7mmの顆粒状とした上で、反応管に30ml充填した。他の条件は実施例3と同様にし、塩化水素混合ガスを流した。塩化水素のリークが観察されるまで実験を行い、その結果を図5に示した。HClのリークが確認されたのは、ガス導入後、201時間後であった。出口の溶液の塩素濃度は0.7ppm(ガス中換算すると0.1ppm)と、高い除去性能を示していることが確認された。
実施例6
 実施例1のサンプルを使用して、HCl-水蒸気-窒素の混合ガスに硫化水素ガスを0.05体積%添加した以外は、実施例5と同様の方法により実験を行った。結果を図6に示す。HClの最初のリークはガス導入後、185時間で観測された。出口の水溶液の塩素イオン濃度は0.7ppm(ガス中換算すると0.1ppm)であり、高いリーク防止性能が確認された。硫化水素吸収容器から回収した硫黄の量により、入口のHSの量に対して、HSの回収率は95%以上であった。すなわち、本発明のハロゲン化合物吸収剤は、HSが共存しても、選択的にHClを吸収した。

Claims (21)

  1.  塩基性カルシウム化合物を30~90質量%、カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物または粘土鉱物を10~70質量%含む、ハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  2.  塩基性カルシウム化合物が、水酸化カルシウム、炭酸カルシウム、酸化カルシウム及びアルミン酸カルシウムから選択された1種または2種類以上の化合物である、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  3.  塩基性カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物が、カルシウム以外の金属の水酸化物、酸化物、炭酸塩またはそれらの混合物である、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  4.  塩基性カルシウム化合物以外の金属化合物が水酸化アルミニウム、酸化アルミニウム、酸化ニッケル、炭酸ニッケル、水酸化ニッケル、ベーマイト、珪藻土、アタパルジャイトから選ばれた1種または2種以上の混合物である、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  5. 塩基性カルシウム化合物が水酸化カルシウムであり、カルシウム以外の金属化合物の金属がアルミニウムまたはニッケルである、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  6.  BET法測定による表面積が20~300m/gである、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  7.  細孔容積が0.1~1.0ml/gである、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  8.  タブレットまたはペレットの形態で50~250Nの強度を有する、請求項1に記載のハロゲン化合物吸収剤。
  9.  合成ガスの製造方法であって、
     a)原料を水蒸気の存在下に加熱して粗製合成ガスを調製するステップ、及び
     b)ステップa)からの粗製合成ガスを、請求項1に記載のハロゲン吸収剤と接触させるステップ、
    を含む、前記方法。
  10.  ステップb)に導入される粗製合成ガスの温度が、200℃以上、600℃以下である、請求項9に記載の方法。
  11.  ステップb)に導入される粗製合成ガスが、10~50体積%の割合で水蒸気を含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
  12.  粗製合成ガスを、ステップb)の上流で、予めハロゲン化合物の一次処理に付して粗製合成ガスに含まれるハロゲン化合物の量を減少し、その後二次処理としてのステップb)において残留ハロゲン化合物を更に低減させる、請求項9に記載の方法。
  13.  一次処理が消石灰または他の塩基性化合物の吹き込みとバグフィルターにより行われる、請求項12に記載の方法。
  14.  一次処理が湿式スクラバーにより行われる、請求項12に記載の方法。
  15.  ステップb)の下流に、合成ガスシフトステップc)を更に含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
  16.  合成ガスシフトステップc)の後段に、脱硫ステップd)を更に含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
  17.  粗製合成ガスが硫化水素を含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
  18.  合成ガスシフトステップc)の前段に、脱硫ステップd)を更に含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
  19.  ステップb)において、ペレットの形態に成形されたハロゲン化合物吸収剤が収納された固定床反応器に粗製合成ガスを通過させる、請求項9に記載の方法。
  20.  粗製合成ガス中に含まれるハロゲン化合物が、ステップb)の後に0.1ppm以下にまで減少される、請求項9に記載の方法。
  21.  原料が、石炭、バイオマス、廃棄物、都市ごみ及び廃プラスチックから選択される1種または2二以上の混合物である、請求項9に記載の方法。
