Description

記録装置
 本発明は、記録ヘッドからインクを吐出して記録媒体に画素を形成する記録装置に関する。
 従来、記録ヘッドから記録媒体に対しインクを吐出して記録媒体に画像を記録するインクジェット式の記録装置が知られている。この種の記録装置では、記録ヘッドにおけるインクの粘度の増加を防止するため、記録ヘッドに形成されたノズルからインクを空吐出することによって、記録ヘッドから粘度の増加したインクを排出させるフラッシングなどのクリーニングを実行するものがある。
 従来の記録装置では、ノズルのメンテナンスのために、クリーニングやフラッシングの動作を行い、印刷に用いないインクを消費しており、これらは廃インクとなる。
 このような廃インクが生じると、インク消費の無駄(経済的なデメリット)になるとともに、廃棄物が増えること(環境面でのデメリット)になる。
 このような廃インクを低減させる記録装置として、例えば、廃インクを貯留する再利用廃インクタンクを設け、吐出用インクと、廃インクとを用いて、記録媒体に黒色の画素を形成するようにしたものがある(例えば、特許文献1参照)。

 しかしながら、前記従来の技術では、複数の色を混合した廃インクを印刷に使うので、印刷できる色は黒色のみである。また、新規なバージンインクを回収した廃インクは再利用するが、一度使った廃インクを再度用いることは行わないで廃棄する。一度なら再利用可能だが、何度も使い回すと、インクの劣化が激しくなるから、と考えられる。
 そのため、従来の技術では、廃インクを利用したカラー印刷をすることができず、また、廃インクの量を実質的に0にすることはできないという問題がある。
 本発明は前述した事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、廃インクを用いてカラー印刷を行い、従来技術と比較して、大幅に廃インクの量を減らす記録装置を提供することを目的とする。
 前記目的を達成するために、本発明は、異なる種類のインクを媒体に吐出する記録装置であって、記録ヘッドと、前記記録ヘッドから吐出される前記インクをインク種類毎に回収し貯留する回収インク貯留部と、前記記録ヘッドから前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクの量に応じてバージンインクを前記回収インク貯留部に供給するインク補給流路と、前記回収インク貯留部のインク粘度に応じて希釈液を前記回収インク貯留部に供給する希釈液流路と、前記回収インク貯留部に貯留されたインクを前記記録ヘッドに供給するインク供給流路と、を備えることを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、再利用回収インクタンクにインク補給流路を介してバージンインクを供給するとともに、希釈液流路を介して希釈液を供給することで、再利用回収インクタンクの回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。また、インクの種類毎にインクを回収するので、再利用回収インクタンクから種類毎のインクを記録ヘッドに供給することで、インクの種類毎に回収インクを再利用することができ、大幅に廃インクを減らすことができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、前記回収インク貯留部に貯留されるインクの粘度を検出する粘度検出部を更に有し、前記粘度検出部で検出される粘度に応じて前記希釈液を前記回収インク貯留部に供給することを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、粘度に応じて希釈液を供給することで、回収インク貯留部の回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、それぞれが単一種類のインクを吐出する複数の前記記録ヘッドは、複数の吐出ノズルを備え、複数の前記記録ヘッドは、前記媒体の搬送経路から離間可能な構成であり、前記搬送経路から離間した前記記録ヘッド毎に、前記複数の吐出ノズルを覆うインク回収キャップを備えることを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、フラッシング時にインク回収キャップに吐出された回収インクは、回収インク貯留部に貯留され、回収インクは、バージンインクおよび希釈液により、一定の品質に保持される。また、記録媒体の搬送経路から離間した記録ヘッドにインク回収インク回収キャップを設けることで、フラッシングにより吐出されたインクを容易に回収することができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、前記媒体の搬送経路の一部は、それぞれが単一種類のインクを吐出する複数の吐出ノズルを備えた複数の前記記録ヘッドから退避可能な構成であり、前記記録ヘッドから退避した前記搬送経路に進入して、前記複数の吐出ノズルを覆うインク回収キャップを備えることを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、フラッシング時にインク回収キャップに吐出された回収インクは、回収インク貯留部に貯留され、回収インクは、バージンインクおよび希釈液により、一定の品質に保持される。また、記録媒体の搬送経路から離間した記録ヘッドにインク回収キャップを設けることで、フラッシングにより吐出されたインクを容易に回収することができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクは、非印刷動作中においてフラッシング吐出されたインクであることを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、フラッシングで吐出されたインクを有効に回収することができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクは、印刷動作中において吐出され前記媒体に着弾しないインクであることを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、記録媒体に着弾しないインクを回収することができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクの液滴は、印刷動作中において進行するインクの液滴の進行方向を変更して、前記記録ヘッドに設けられるインクキャッチャーに入れるように構成されていることを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、インクキャッチャーにより記録媒体に着弾しないインクを回収することができる。
 また、前記発明の記録装置において、前記回収インク貯留部の内部の圧力を負圧にする圧力調整機構を有することを特徴とする。
 この構成によれば、圧力調整機構を介して再利用回収インクタンク内の圧力を調整することができる。

 以下、図面を参照して本発明の実施形態について説明する。
<第1実施形態>
 図1は、本発明に係る記録装置としてのプリンターの第1実施形態の構成を模式的に示す図である。
 プリンター1は、記録媒体(図示せず)に文字や図形、絵柄などの画像を記録するプリンターである。本実施形態では、記録媒体に記録すべき画像に応じて、所定の色のドット(画素)を所定の態様で記録媒体に形成することにより、記録媒体に画像を記録するインクジェット式のプリンターである。
 記録媒体としては、ロール状に巻かれたロール紙や、所定長さに切断されたカットシート、複数枚のシートが連接された連続シートなどが挙げられる。これらの記録媒体は、普通紙や、複写紙、厚紙などの紙類、合成樹脂製などのシートであり、これらのシートにコーティングや浸潤などの加工を施したものを用いることもできる。また、カットシートの形態としては、例えば、PPC用紙や葉書などの定形サイズのカット紙に加え、通帳などの複数のシートを綴じた冊子形態のものや、封筒などの袋状に成形されたものが挙げられる。また、連続シートの形態としては、例えば、幅方向両端にスプロケットホールが穿設され、所定長さ毎に折り畳まれた連続紙が挙げられる。
 プリンター1は、図1に示すように、複数の記録ヘッド3を備える。
 これら各記録ヘッド3の先端面には、インクを微細なインク滴として吐出するノズル孔4が多数開口され、本実施形態においては、記録ヘッド3は、記録媒体の搬送方向と直交する方向にインクのノズル孔4が多数配列されたラインヘッドとされている。なお、図1においては、便宜上、3つの記録ヘッド3のみを示しており、インクの種類に応じて必要な数だけ設けられる。
 これら各記録ヘッド3は、それぞれ異なる単一種類のインクを吐出するものであり、1つの記録ヘッド3からは1種類のインクが吐出される。記録ヘッド3の内部には、インクを貯留するインクカートリッジ6が設けられている。異なるインクの種類としては、例えば、ブラック、シアン、イエロー、マゼンタ、ホワイトなどのインクが用いられる。
 記録ヘッド3は、ピエゾ素子を用いて構成されるアクチュエーターによって、各インクタンクから供給されるインクを記録媒体に向かって押し出して、ノズル孔4から微細なインク滴を選択的に吐出する。
 プリンター1は、図示しない搬送機構によって記録媒体を搬送方向に搬送する送り動作を行いながら、記録ヘッド3から記録媒体にインクを吐出することにより、記録媒体に画像を記録する。記録動作中、プリンター1は、記録媒体を搬送しながら、各記録ヘッド3のノズル孔4からそれぞれ所定量のインクを吐出して、記録媒体に記録すべき画像を構成するドットを形成する。
 また、プリンター1は、キャッピング装置10を備えている。キャッピング装置10は、記録ヘッド3毎に設けられる。
 キャッピング装置10は、上面が開口した箱状のインク回収キャップ11を備え、このインク回収キャップ11は、ゴムなどの弾性部材を用いて構成される。インク回収キャップ11は、後述するキャップ駆動モーター48の駆動の下、上昇および下降可能に構成されており、上昇したときに、記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5を被覆するように装着される。
 詳細には、インク回収キャップ11の内周は、記録ヘッド3の外周と略同一形状とされ、インク回収キャップ11が所定の位置まで上昇すると、その内周に記録ヘッド3の外周が接触した状態で、ノズル形成部5が収納される。
 また、インク回収キャップ11の下面には、該下面を貫通する回収インク排出孔12が形成されており、この回収インク排出孔12には、回収インクが流れる回収インク流出チューブ13の一端が連結される。
 この回収インク流出チューブ13は、分岐点14において再利用回収インク流出チューブ15および廃棄インク流出チューブ16の2つのチューブに分岐している。一方の再利用回収インク流出チューブ15には、再利用する回収インクを一時的に貯留する再利用回収インクタンク17(回収インク貯留部)が接続される。他方の廃棄インク流出チューブ16には、廃棄する回収インクを一時的に貯留する廃棄インクタンク18が接続される。
 再利用回収インクタンク17は、記録ヘッド3ごと、すなわち、インクの色ごとに設けられる。本実施形態においては、再利用回収インクタンク17は、異なる色のインクをそれぞれ貯留するものであり、異なる色のインクが混ざることはない。
 再利用回収インク流出チューブ15には、再利用回収インク流出チューブ15における回収インクの流通を制御する再利用側電磁弁19が設けられる。廃棄インク流出チューブ16には、廃棄インク流出チューブ16における回収インクの流通を制御する廃棄側電磁弁20が設けられる。分岐点14よりも上流における回収インク流出チューブ13には、回収インク排出孔12を介して回収インクを吸入して吐出する回収インク流出用ポンプ21が設けられる。
 本実施形態に係るプリンター1は、このキャッピング装置10を利用して、フラッシング動作を実行する。
 フラッシング動作とは、ノズル形成部5がインク回収キャップ11に収納された状態で、ノズル形成部5に形成されたノズル孔4からインクを空吐出する動作である。
 ノズル形成部5に形成された多数のノズル孔4のうち、記録動作において使用されないノズル孔4や使用頻度の低いノズル孔4においては、インクが乾燥などにより増粘して噴射不良を起こす事態が生じることがある。フラッシング動作は、この噴射不良を防止するために実行される動作である。
 ラインヘッドを用いたプリンター1の場合、記録ヘッド3に対向する位置に記録媒体の搬送経路が形成されているので、フラッシング動作は、記録ヘッド3を待避させるか、搬送経路を待避させることで、記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5を露出させた状態で行う。
 フラッシング動作時、キャッピング装置10のインク回収キャップ11が所定位置まで上昇することにより記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5がインク回収キャップ11に収納される。次いで、ノズル形成部5に形成された各ノズル列の各ノズル孔4から所定量のインクが空吐出され、各ノズル孔4に留まっているインクが新たなインクに置き換えられる。フラッシング動作は、例えば、所定時間が経過する毎に実行される。
 フラッシング動作により、記録ヘッド3から吐出されたインクは、回収インクとしてインク回収キャップ11に一時的に貯留される。そして、本実施形態では、フラッシング動作が実行される度に、回収インク流出用ポンプ21が駆動され、インク回収キャップ11に貯留された回収インクは再利用回収インクタンク17または廃棄インクタンク18のいずれかに排出される。
 再利用回収インクタンク17には、戻し用チューブ22(インク供給流路)の一端が接続され、この戻し用チューブ22の他端には、インクカートリッジ6が接続される。戻し用チューブ22には、再利用回収インクタンク17側から回収インクを吸入し、インクカートリッジ6側に吐出する戻し用ポンプ23が接続される。
 また、インクカートリッジ6には、インクカートリッジ6におけるインクの残量が所定の閾値を下回ったことを検出する回収インク残量センサー(図示せず)が設けられる。インクカートリッジ6における回収インクの残量が所定の閾値を下回った場合に、戻し用ポンプ23により再利用回収インクタンク17に貯留された回収インクが戻し用チューブ22を介してインクカートリッジ6に流入し、インクカートリッジ6に貯留される。
 また、本実施形態に係るプリンター1は、希釈液を貯留する希釈液タンク24を備える。希釈液タンク24と再利用回収インクタンク17とは、希釈液チューブ25(希釈液流路)により接続される。希釈液チューブ25の中途部には、希釈液タンク24に貯留された希釈液を吸入し再利用回収インクタンク17に吐出する希釈液ポンプ26が設けられる。
 また、プリンター1は、新規のインクを貯留するバージンインクタンク27を備える。バージンインクタンク27と再利用回収インクタンク17とは、バージンインクチューブ28(インク補給流路)により接続される。バージンインクチューブ28の中途部には、バージンインクタンク27に貯留されたバージンインクを吸入し再利用回収インクタンク17に吐出するバージンインク補給ポンプ29が設けられる。
 なお、これら回収インク流出用ポンプ21、戻し用ポンプ23、希釈液ポンプ26およびバージンインク補給ポンプ29は、例えば、チューブポンプで構成される。
 さらに、再利用回収インクタンク17には、再利用回収インクタンク17に貯留された回収インクの粘度を検出するための粘度センサー30(粘度検出部)が設けられる。この粘度センサー30によって回収インクの粘度が所定の閾値よりも高いことが検出された場合、希釈液ポンプ26が駆動され、希釈液タンク24から再利用回収インクタンク17に希釈液が供給され、回収インクの粘度が調整される。
 また、再利用回収インクタンク17には、圧力調整流路31が接続されており、圧力調整流路31の中途部には、圧力調整弁32が設けられる。圧力調整流路31と圧力調整弁32とにより圧力調整機構が構成される。
 そして、圧力調整弁32を開閉動作させて圧力調整流路31を介して再利用回収インクタンク17内の圧力を調整する。回収された回収インク内の気泡は再利用回収インクタンク17内の圧力を負圧にすることで除去することができる。
 なお、このサブタンクの底部に異物が沈殿することで、異物を記録ヘッド3に送ってしまうことを防止できる。
 前述のキャッピング装置10、各インクタンク17,27,27、各チューブ13,15,16,22,25,28、各ポンプ21,23,26,29、各電磁弁19,20および圧力調整流路31と圧力調整弁32により、インク回収機構が構成される。
 また、再利用回収インクタンク17に回収される回収インクの量に応じて、バージンインク補給ポンプ29を駆動することで、バージンインクタンク27からバージンインクが再利用回収インクタンク17に補給される。これにより、再利用回収インクタンク17における回収インクの品質を一定以上に確保することができる。
 具体的には、フラッシング動作によって回収する回収インクの量が、実際の印刷によって消費するインクの量のX%とした場合、
  回収インクの量:補充するバージンインクの量=X:(100-X)
に設定すれば、再利用回収インクタンク17内の回収インクの量を一定量に維持することができる。
 また、長期間印刷しない状態が続くような場合、Xの割合が高くなる。すると、再利用する回収インクに対するバージンインクの割合が少なくなるので、インク品質の劣化を招くおそれがある。
 そのため、回収インクとバージンインクとの比率には一定の閾値を設けておく。例えば、回収インクとバージンインクの比率の閾値を20%に設定しておく。
 そして、この閾値、20%より回収インクの比率が高くなるようなら、回収インクを全て再利用回収インクタンク17に送るのではなく、再利用側電磁弁19を閉じ、廃棄側電磁弁20を開いて回収インクを廃棄インクタンク18に送るようにすればよい。
 このように構成することで、再利用回収インクタンク17の内部には、常に一定量かつ一定の品質をもったインクが貯留されることになる。
 なお、回収する回収インクの量は、回収インク流出用ポンプ21の動作時間や動作量などにより把握することが可能であるが、再利用回収インク流出チューブ15に流量計を設けるようにしてもよい。このように流量計を設けることで、より正確に回収インクの量を把握することができ、補給すべきバージンインクの量を正確に判断することができ、回収インクの品質を確保しやすい。
 図2は、第1実施形態に係るプリンター1の機能的構成を示すブロック図である。図2に示すように、プリンター1は、プリンター1各部を制御するプリンター側制御部40と、プリンター側制御部40の制御に従って各種モーターなどを駆動する一方、検出回路の検出状態をプリンター側制御部40に出力するドライバー回路部41とを備える。
 プリンター側制御部40は、プリンター1の各部を中枢的に制御するものである。プリンター側制御部40は、CPUや、実行可能な基本制御プログラムや、この基本制御プログラムに係るデータなどを不揮発的に記憶するROM、CPUに実行されるプログラムや所定データなどを一時的に記憶するRAM、その他の周辺回路などを備える。
 ドライバー回路部41は、記録ヘッドドライバー42と、紙送りドライバー43と、ポンプドライバー44と、キャップ駆動ドライバー47と、バルブドライバー49と、検出回路45と、を備える。
 記録ヘッドドライバー42は、異なる色ごとに設けられた記録ヘッド3にそれぞれ接続され、プリンター側制御部40の制御に従って記録ヘッド3が備えるアクチュエーターを駆動し、ノズル形成部5のノズル孔4から必要量のインクを噴射させる。
 紙送りドライバー43は、紙送りモーター46に接続され、紙送りモーター46に駆動信号を出力して、紙送りモーター46をプリンター側制御部40により指示された量だけ動作させる。紙送りモーター46の動作に応じて、記録媒体が搬送方向に所定量だけ搬送される。
 ポンプドライバー44は、異なる色ごとに設けられた回収インク流出用ポンプ21、戻し用ポンプ23、希釈液ポンプ26およびバージンインク補給ポンプ29に接続される。ポンプドライバー44は、プリンター側制御部40の制御に従って、回収インク流出用ポンプ21、戻し用ポンプ23、希釈液ポンプ26およびバージンインク補給ポンプ29を駆動する。
 キャップ駆動ドライバー47は、異なる色ごとに設けられたキャップ駆動モーター48に接続され、プリンター側制御部40の制御に従ってキャップ駆動モーター48を駆動し、インク回収キャップ11を必要量だけ上昇または下降させる。
 バルブドライバー49は、異なる色ごとに設けられた再利用側電磁弁19、廃棄側電磁弁20および圧力調整弁32に接続され、プリンター側制御部40の制御に従って、再利用側電磁弁19、廃棄側電磁弁20および圧力調整弁32を開閉させる。
 検出回路45は、異なる色ごとに設けられた粘度センサー30に接続され、粘度センサー30により検出される、再利用回収インクタンク17における回収インクの粘度を取得して、プリンター側制御部40に出力する。
 また、プリンター側制御部40には、表示部50が接続され、表示部50が備える複数のLEDの点灯状態をプリンター側制御部40によって制御できる。また、プリンター側制御部40には、入力部51が接続され、入力部51が備えるスイッチに対するオペレーターの操作により、入力部51からプリンター側制御部40に操作信号が入力される。
 プリンター側制御部40は、入力部51から入力される操作信号に基づいて、ドライバー回路部41の各部を制御し、記録媒体に画像を記録する動作を実行する。
 次に、本実施形態におけるプリンター1の動作について説明する。
 ユーザーによって画像の記録の開始が指示されると、プリンター側制御部40が所定の印刷データを取得し、プリンター側制御部40が、紙送りドライバー43を制御することで、紙送りモーター46を駆動して記録媒体を搬送する。これと同時に、記録ヘッドドライバー42を制御することで、各色の記録ヘッド3のアクチュエーターを駆動して各ノズル孔4からインクを噴出させ、記録媒体に所望の印刷を行う。
 そして、一定時間が経過したら、フラッシング動作を行う。フラッシング動作は、プリンター側制御部40によりキャップ駆動ドライバー47を制御してキャップ駆動モーター48を駆動することで、インク回収キャップ11を記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5に装着することにより行う。
 この状態で、記録ヘッドドライバー42により記録ヘッド3のアクチュエーターを駆動してノズル孔4からインクを吐出させる。インク回収キャップ11に吐出された回収インクは、ポンプドライバー44により回収インク流出用ポンプ21を駆動制御することで、再利用回収インクタンク17に送られる。
 このとき、プリンター側制御部40は、回収インク流出用ポンプ21の動作時間や動作量に基づいて回収インクの量を把握することで、再利用回収インクタンク17内の回収インクの量を把握することができ、これにより、補充すべきバージンインク量がわかる。
 そのため補充するバージンインク量がわかった場合には、プリンター側制御部40は、ポンプドライバー44を制御してバージンインク補給ポンプ29を駆動することで、再利用回収インクタンク17にバージンインクを必要な量補充する。
 また、プリンター側制御部40は、回収インクとバージンインクとの比率を判断し、所定の閾値より回収インクの比率が高くなったら、再利用側電磁弁19を閉じ、廃棄側電磁弁20を開いて回収インクを廃棄インクタンク18に送る。
 また、粘度センサー30により回収インクの粘度が所定の閾値よりも高いことが検出された場合、プリンター側制御部40は、ポンプドライバー44を制御して希釈液ポンプ26を駆動し、希釈液タンク24から再利用回収インクタンク17に希釈液を供給する。
 このようなプリンター側制御部40による制御により、再利用回収インクタンク17の内部の回収インクは、バージンインクとの比率が最適で、かつ、粘度も最適な高い品質に保持される。
 そして、インクカートリッジ6のインク量が閾値より低くなった場合に、プリンター側制御部40によりポンプドライバー44を制御して戻り用ポンプを駆動することで、再利用回収インクタンク17内のインクをインクカートリッジ6に供給する。
 また、再利用回収インクタンク17は、圧力調整弁32を開閉動作させて圧力調整流路31を介して再利用回収インクタンク17内の圧力を調整する。回収された回収インク内の気泡は再利用回収インクタンク17内の圧力を負圧にすることで除去することができる。
 以上説明したように、本実施形態に係るプリンター1は、記録ヘッド3と、記録ヘッド3から吐出されるインクをインク種類毎に回収し貯留する再利用回収インクタンク17(回収インク貯留部)と、記録ヘッド3から再利用回収インクタンク17に回収されるインクの量に応じてバージンインクを再利用回収インクタンク17に供給するバージンインクチューブ28(インク補給流路)と、再利用回収インクタンク17のインク粘度に応じて希釈液を再利用回収インクタンク17に供給する希釈液チューブ25(希釈液流路)と、再利用回収インクタンク17に貯留されたインクを記録ヘッド3に供給する戻し用チューブ22(インク供給流路)と、を備える。
 これによれば、再利用回収インクタンク17にバージンインクチューブ28を介してバージンインクを供給するとともに、希釈液チューブ25を介して希釈液を供給することで、再利用回収インクタンク17の回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。また、インクの種類毎にインクを回収するので、再利用回収インクタンク17から種類毎のインクを記録ヘッド3に供給することで、インクの種類毎に回収インクを再利用することができ、大幅に廃インクを減らすことができる。
 また、本実施形態では、再利用回収インクタンク17に貯留されるインクの粘度を検出する粘度センサー30(粘度検出部)を更に有し、粘度センサー30で検出される粘度に応じて希釈液を再利用回収インクタンク17に供給する。
 これによれば、再利用回収インクタンク17のインクの粘度を常に一定に保持することができる。
 また、本実施形態では、再利用回収インクタンク17に回収されるインクは、非印刷動作中においてフラッシング吐出されたインクである。
 これによれば、フラッシングで吐出されたインクを有効に回収することができる。特に、業務用の大型プリンターにおいては、フラッシングにより吐出されるインク量も極めて多くなるので、フラッシングで吐出されたインクを回収することで、廃インクを減らすことができる。
 また、本実施形態では、再利用回収インクタンク17の内部の圧力を負圧にする圧力調整流路31および圧力調整弁32(圧力調整機構)を有する。
 これによれば、圧力調整弁32を開閉動作させて圧力調整流路31を介して再利用回収インクタンク17内の圧力を調整することができる。
<第2実施形態>
 次に、本発明の第2実施形態について説明する。
 本実施形態においては、インク回収装置をプリンター1に適用した具体例を示している。
 図3は本発明に係る記録装置としてのプリンターの第2実施形態を示す概略正面図である。図4は第2実施形態のプリンターを示す印刷領域部分の斜視図である。図5は第2実施形態のプリンターにおける記録ヘッドの退避状態を示す平面図である。図6は第2実施形態のプリンターにおける記録ヘッドの退避状態を示す斜視図である。
 なお、本実施形態においては、前記実施形態と同一の構成要素については、同一の符号を付しその説明を省略する。
  図3に示すように、プリンター1には、その両端が繰り出し軸101および巻き取り軸102にロール状に巻き付けられた1枚のシート状の記録媒体2が搬送経路に沿って張架されている。
 プリンター1は、繰り出し軸101から記録媒体2を繰り出す繰り出し部103と、繰り出し部103から繰り出された記録媒体2に印刷する印刷部104と、印刷部104で印刷された記録媒体2を巻き取り軸102に巻き取る巻き取り部105とを備える。これら繰り出し部103、印刷部104および巻き取り部105は、ハウジング106の内部に収容される。
  繰り出し部103は、記録媒体2の端を巻き付けた繰り出し軸101と、繰り出し軸101から引き出された記録媒体2を巻き掛ける従動ローラー110とを有する。
 繰り出し軸101は、記録媒体2の印刷面を外側に向けた状態で、記録媒体2を巻き付けて支持する。そして、繰り出し軸101が図3において時計回りに回転することで、繰り出し軸101に巻き付けられた記録媒体2は、従動ローラー110を経由して印刷部104に繰り出される。
  印刷部104は、繰り出し部103から繰り出された記録媒体2を回動ドラム111で支持しつつ、回動ドラム111の外周面に沿って配置された印刷ユニット112により記録媒体2に印刷する。この印刷部104には、回動ドラム111の両側に前駆動ローラー113と後駆動ローラー114とが設けられる。
 また、印刷部104には、回動ドラム111への巻き掛け部の両側で記録媒体2を折り返す従動ローラー115,116が設けられる。従動ローラー115は、前駆動ローラー113と回動ドラム111の間で記録媒体2の表面を巻き掛けて、記録媒体2を折り返す。一方、従動ローラー116は、回動ドラム111と後駆動ローラー114の間で記録媒体2の表面を巻き掛けて、記録媒体2を折り返す。
 このように、回動ドラム111に対して搬送方向の上・下流側それぞれで記録媒体2を折り返すことで、回動ドラム111への記録媒体2の巻き掛け部を長く確保した状態で記録媒体2を支持することができる。
  回動ドラム111は、円筒形状のドラムであり、回動ドラム111は、その円筒形状の中心線を通って軸方向に延びる回動軸120を有する。回動軸120は、図示を省略する支持機構によって回動可能に支持され、回動ドラム111は、回動軸120を中心に回動する。
 また、印刷部104は、回動ドラム111に支持される記録媒体2の表面に対してカラー画像を印刷するための印刷ユニット112を備えている。
 印刷ユニット112は、記録ヘッド3a~3g、UV照射器121a~121eおよびインク供給システム7をキャリッジ122で支持して構成される。
  搬送方向に順番に並ぶ7個の記録ヘッド3a~3gは、例えば、ホワイト、ホワイト、イエロー、シアン、マゼンタ、ブラックおよびクリアー(透明)に対応し、インクジェット方式で対応する色のインクをノズルから吐出する。
 各記録ヘッド3a~3gは、記録媒体2の幅方向に延在する複数のノズルが配列されたラインヘッドとされている。これら各記録ヘッド3a~3gは、回動ドラム111の回動軸120から放射状に配置されて、回動ドラム111の外周面に沿って配列される。
 そして、各記録ヘッド3a~3gは、キャリッジ122によって回動ドラム111に対して位置決めされ、若干の間隙を空けて回動ドラム111に対向する。こうしてキャリッジ122によってペーパーギャップが規定された状態で、各記録ヘッド3a~3gがインクを吐出することで、記録媒体2表面の所望の位置にインクが着弾して、記録媒体2にカラー画像が形成される。
  記録ヘッド3a~3gで使用するインクとしては、紫外線(光)を照射することで硬化するUV硬化インク(光硬化性インク)が用いられる。そこで、インクを硬化させて記録媒体2に定着させるために、UV照射器121a~121eが設けられる。
  また、キャリッジ122の後側(+Y側)には、2個のインク供給システム123がX方向に並んで取り付けけられている。
 左側(+X側)のインク供給システム123は、ホワイト、ホワイト、イエロー、シアンのインクを供給する機構(インク流動制御機構)を色毎に有してハウジング70に収容した構成を具備する。右側(+X側)のインク供給システム123は、マゼンタ、ブラック、クリアーのインクを供給する機構(インク流動制御機構)を色毎に有してハウジングに収容した構成を具備する。
 図4に示すように、キャリッジ122は、Y方向に並ぶ2枚の円弧状の支持フレーム130と、各支持フレーム130の下端を接続するベースフレーム(図示せず)とで構成される。そして、記録ヘッド3a~3g、UV照射器121a~121eは、2枚の支持フレーム130にY方向から挟まれて保持されており、インク供給システム123は、後側(-Y側)の支持フレーム130に取り付けられて保持される。
 キャリッジ122のX方向の両端部には、キャリッジ122を支持するY方向へ延びる2本のガイドレール131がそれぞれ配置される。
 キャリッジ122の駆動機構132は、駆動プーリー133、従動プーリー134および駆動プーリー133と従動プーリー134に架け渡されたベルト135で構成されるコンベヤー136を備える。
 駆動プーリー133と従動プーリー134は複数の歯を所定ピッチで形成してなる歯付プーリーであり、ベルト135は複数の歯を所定ピッチで形成してなる歯付ベルトである。
 そして、駆動プーリー133と従動プーリー134それぞれの歯とベルト135の歯とが相互に噛み合った状態で、駆動プーリー133と従動プーリー134にベルト135が巻き掛けられる。
 また、駆動機構132は、Y方向に延びるリンクシャフト137を有しており、左端部に設けられたコンベヤー136の駆動プーリー133と、右端部に設けられたコンベヤー136の駆動プーリー133とをリンクシャフト137で相互に接続する。
 さらに、駆動機構132は、左端部の駆動プーリー133を駆動して当該駆動プーリー133を回動させるモーター138を有する。
 そして、モーター138を回動させることで、2個の駆動プーリー133それぞれに巻き掛けられた各ベルト135を同期して回動させることができる。そして、2本のベルト135を同期して回動させると、キャリッジ122は、各ベルト135から伝達される駆動力を受けて、左右両端部のガイドレール131に沿ってY方向に移動する。
 このように構成することで、キャリッジ122は、記録ヘッド3a~3g、UV照射器121a~121eおよびインク供給システム123を伴ってガイドレール131上をY方向に移動可能である。そして、印刷ユニット112を、Y方向に並ぶ印刷位置、自動メンテナンス位置、手作業メンテナンス位置に択一的に位置決めすることができる。
 印刷位置にキャリッジ122を位置決めした場合、キャリッジ122に保持された記録ヘッド3a~3gおよびUV照射器121a~121eは、記録媒体2の搬送経路に対向する。したがって、記録ヘッド3a~3gからのインクの吐出やUV照射器121a~121eからの紫外線の照射を行って、搬送経路に沿って搬送される記録媒体2に画像の印刷を行うことができる。
 また、自動メンテナンス位置または手作業メンテナンス位置にキャリッジ122を位置決めした場合、キャリッジ122に保持された記録ヘッド3a~3gおよびUV照射器121a~121eは、記録媒体2の搬送経路からY方向に退避する。
 したがって、搬送経路の記録媒体2との干渉を防止しつつ、所望のメンテナンスを行うことができる。
  自動メンテナンス位置の下方には、メンテナンスユニットを構成するインク回収キャップ(図示せず)が配置される。インク回収キャップは、各記録ヘッド3a~3g毎にそれぞれ設けられる。
 インク回収キャップは、自動メンテナンス位置にキャリッジ122を位置決めした状態で、記録ヘッド3a~3gは、インク回収キャップに上方からそれぞれ対向する。
 インク回収キャップは、図示しない駆動機構により、記録ヘッド3に対して接離可能に設けられる。
 そして、メンテナンス位置に位置するキャリッジ122に保持された記録ヘッド3a~3gに対して、インク回収キャップを装着した状態で、フラッシング動作を行う。
  手作業メンテナンス位置の下方は開放されており、手作業メンテナンス位置にキャリッジ122を位置決めした状態において、記録ヘッド3a~3g、UV照射器121a~121eの下方には手作業スペースが確保される。
 したがって、作業者は、手作業メンテナンス位置に位置決めされたキャリッジ122に保持された記録ヘッド3a~3gおよびUV照射器121a~121eに対して、インクの拭き取りなどの手作業によるメンテナンスを行うことができる。
 本実施形態においては、複数の記録ヘッド3は、記録媒体2(媒体)の搬送経路から離間可能な構成であり、搬送経路から離間した記録ヘッド3毎に、複数の吐出ノズルを覆うインク回収インク回収キャップを備える。すなわち、本実施形態においては、キャリッジ122が記録媒体2の配送経路に対して直交する方向に移動することで、記録ヘッド3を離間させる構成である。
 そして、メンテナンス位置にキャリッジ122が保持された状態で、フラッシングを行う場合は、記録ヘッド3にインク回収キャップを装着する。このとき、インク回収キャップには、図1に示すインク回収機構が備えられる。
 これにより、フラッシング時にインク回収キャップに吐出された回収インクは、再利用回収インクタンク17に貯留され、回収インクは、バージンインクおよび希釈液により、一定の品質に保持される。また、記録媒体2の搬送経路から離間した記録ヘッド3にインク回収インク回収キャップを設けることで、フラッシングにより吐出されたインクを容易に回収することができる。
 以上説明したように、本実施形態においても、前記第1実施形態と同様に、再利用回収インクタンク17にバージンインクを供給するとともに、希釈液を供給することで、再利用回収インクタンク17の回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。また、インクの種類毎にインクを回収するので、再利用回収インクタンク17から種類毎のインクを記録ヘッド3に供給することで、インクの種類毎に回収インクを再利用することができ、大幅に廃インクを減らすことができる。
<第3実施形態>
 次に、本発明の第3実施形態について説明する。
 図7は、本実施形態の記録装置としてのプリンターを示す印刷状態の側面図である。図8は、本実施形態のプリンターのメンテナンス状態の側面図である。
 なお、本実施形態においては、前記各実施形態と同一の構成要素については、同一の符号を付しその説明を省略する。
 プリンター1は、装置本体201を備え、装置本体201は、複数枚の記録媒体2を収容する用紙収容カセット202を備える。用紙収容カセット202は、図7におけるY方向側から着脱可能に取り付けられる。
 また、装置本体201の一側上方には、記録後の記録媒体2を受ける用紙受けトレイ203が設けられる。
 本実施形態におけるプリンター1は、用紙搬送経路210を備える。用紙搬送経路210は、用紙収容カセット202から印刷位置まで記録媒体2を搬送する給送経路211と、印刷位置から用紙受けトレイ203に記録媒体2を搬送する排紙経路212とから構成される。
 給送経路211と排紙経路212との間である印刷位置には、ベルト搬送手段213が設けられる。
 給送経路211には、記録媒体2の搬送方向に沿って順に給送ローラー214と、分離ローラー対215と、搬送ローラー対216とが設けられている。給送ローラー214は図示しない駆動モーターにより回転駆動される。分離ローラー対215は、記録媒体2をニップすることで記録媒体2の分離を行う。搬送ローラー対216は、一方のローラーが図示しない駆動モーターにより回転駆動させられる駆動ローラーとして構成され、他方のローラーが従動ローラーとして構成されている。
 用紙収容カセット202に収容された記録媒体2は給送ローラー214により給送経路211の下流側に給送される。給送ローラー214により給送された記録媒体2は、分離ローラー対215および搬送ローラー対216に順次ニップされて給送経路211の下流側に向けて搬送される。また、搬送ローラー対216の搬送方向下流側には、搬送ローラー対217が設けられている。
 ベルト搬送手段213に対向する位置には、ラインヘッドからなる記録ヘッド3が配置される。
 記録ヘッド3は、ライン状に形成されたノズル形成部5を備える。記録ヘッド3は、ノズル形成部5と対向する領域に記録媒体2が搬送された際、記録媒体2の記録面にノズル形成部5に設けられた複数のノズルからインクを吐出して記録を行う。
 なお、図7においては、1つの記録ヘッド3で示しているが、実際は、異なる色の単一種類のインクを吐出する複数の吐出ノズルを備えた複数の記録ヘッド3が配列された構成となっている。
 ベルト搬送手段213は、ベルト駆動により、記録媒体2を搬送方向下流側に搬送するとともに、記録媒体2の記録面と反対側を支持する。
 記録ヘッド3で記録された記録媒体2は、排紙経路212に搬送方向に沿って順に設けられた搬送ローラー対218により順次ニップされて搬送される。そして、記録媒体2は出口219から用紙受けトレイ203に向けて排出される。
 装置本体201内に設けられたベルト搬送手段213は、ベルト駆動部220とベルト揺動部221とを備えている。
 ベルト駆動部220は、駆動軸222と、駆動軸222と所定間隔をもって配置された従動軸223と、駆動軸222と従動軸223とに掛け渡された搬送ベルト224と、揺動台225とを備えている。
 そして、駆動軸222は、図示しない駆動モーターの駆動により回転駆動され、搬送ベルト224を記録媒体2の搬送方向に駆動することができる。
 また、駆動軸222と従動軸223との間には揺動台225が配置される。揺動台225は装置高さ方向において搬送ベルト224の上側経路と下側経路との間に位置している。揺動台225は、駆動軸222の軸線方向に延設され、揺動台225の両端部は、駆動軸222を回転可能に軸支している。
 そして、図7に示すように、ベルト搬送手段213が記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5と対向する位置において、記録媒体2に対する印刷を行うことができる。
 また、ベルト揺動部221は、第1アーム226と、第2アーム227と、揺動軸228と、揺動ギア229とを備える。
 第1アーム226の一端部は、揺動台225に対して揺動可能に取り付けられる。また、第1アーム226の他端部は、第2アーム227の一端部に対して揺動可能に取り付けられる。また、第2アーム227は、揺動軸228とともに回転するように揺動軸228に取り付けられる。
 そして、図示しない揺動駆動モーターにより揺動ギア229を揺動させることで、第2アーム227を図7において時計回りに揺動させ、これに伴って第1アーム226を第2アーム227に対して反時計回りに揺動させる。これにより、揺動台225は駆動軸222を中心として図7において反時計回りに揺動され、図8に示すように、印刷状態からベルト搬送手段213が退避したメンテナンス位置に移動させることができる。
 また、プリンター1はメンテナンス手段230を備える。メンテナンス手段230は、メンテナンス部231と、移動台232と、平行リンク機構233と、ガイド部材234と、ベース部材235とを備える。
 ベース部材235は、用紙幅方向に延設され、用紙幅方向における両端部には、一対のガイド部材234が互いに対向するように立設される。
 移動台232は、用紙幅方向に延設されており、用紙幅方向における両端部には、平行リンク機構233が取り付けられる。移動台232は、図示しない移動台駆動モーターを駆動することで、図示しないボールねじなどの動力伝達機構を介して用紙搬送方向に往復動可能とされる。
 平行リンク機構233は、第1リンク240と、第2リンク241とを備える。第1リンク240は、略三角形状を有しており、第1リンク240の第1の頂点に対応する部分は、移動台232と回動自在に連結される。第2の頂点に対応する部分は、メンテナンス部231と回動自在に連結される。また、第3の頂点に対応する部分には、ガイド部材234に形成されたガイド溝236に係合する被ガイド部242が設けられる。
 第2リンク241は、一端が移動台232に対して回動可能に連結され、他端がメンテナンス部231に対して回動可能に連結される。
 メンテナンス部231は、第1リンク240および第2リンク241に連結されている。また、メンテナンス部231は、記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5を被覆するインク回収キャップ(図示せず)を備える。
 そして、メンテナンス部231は、図7に示すノズル形成部5と対向する位置から退避した状態となる非メンテナンス位置と、図8に示す記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5に装着された状態となるメンテナンス位置との間を移動可能に構成される。
 本実施形態においては、記録媒体2(媒体)の搬送経路の一部は、それぞれが単一種類のインクを吐出する複数の吐出ノズルを備えた複数の記録ヘッド3から退避可能な構成である。すなわち、本実施形態においては、記録ヘッド3に対して記録媒体2の配送経路が下方に退避することで、記録ヘッド3を退避させる構成である。
 そして、このようにベルト搬送手段213が記録ヘッド3から退避した状態で、メンテナンス部231が進入して記録ヘッド3のノズル形成部5にインク回収キャップを装着し、フラッシングを行う。このとき、第2実施形態と同様に、インク回収キャップには、図1に示すインク回収機構が備えられる。
 これにより、フラッシング時にインク回収キャップに吐出された回収インクは、再利用回収インクタンク17に貯留され、回収インクは、バージンインクおよび希釈液により、一定の品質に保持される。また、記録媒体2の搬送経路から離間した記録ヘッド3にインク回収キャップを設けることで、フラッシングにより吐出されたインクを容易に回収することができる。
 以上説明したように、本実施形態においても、前記各実施形態と同様に、再利用回収インクタンク17にバージンインクを供給するとともに、希釈液を供給することで、再利用回収インクタンク17の回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。また、インクの種類毎にインクを回収するので、再利用回収インクタンク17から種類毎のインクを記録ヘッド3に供給することで、インクの種類毎に回収インクを再利用することができ、大幅に廃インクを減らすことができる。
<第4実施形態>
 次に、本発明の第4実施形態について説明する。
 本実施形態においては、記録ヘッド3のフラッシングではなく、印刷時に記録媒体2以外に吐出されたインクを回収する場合の例を示している。
 図9は本発明の記録装置としてのプリンターの第4実施形態を示す概略図である。
 なお、本実施形態においては、前記各実施形態と同一の構成要素については、同一の符号を付しその説明を省略する。
 図9に示すように、プリンター1は、ラインヘッドからなる記録ヘッド3を備える。
 記録ヘッド3の吐出ノズルに対向する位置には、記録媒体2を支持するプラテン400が配置される。
 プラテン400の記録ヘッド3と対向する面には、記録媒体2の搬送方向と直交する方向に延在し細溝からなるインクキャッチャー401が設けられている。
 図9に示すように、記録ヘッド3のライン長よりも短い記録媒体2に印刷を行う場合に、例えば、縁なし印刷などのように、記録媒体2の縁まで印刷を行う場合がある。すると、記録媒体2に着弾しないインクは印刷に用いられない。このようなインクはインクキャッチャー401の中に入り回収される。
 回収インクのインクキャッチャー401は、液滴が入るのに十分でかつ最少の幅に設定される。液滴の径は0.2mm以下として、着弾位置が±0.1mmずれたとしても、インクキャッチャー401の隙間は余裕をみても1mm未満に設定可能であるので、インクキャッチャー401の部分で記録紙が撓んで印刷品位を損ねることはない。
 また、インクキャッチャー401には、図1に示すインク回収機構が設けられる。このインク回収機構は、例えば、インクキャッチャー401に連通する孔を設けてこの孔から回収インク流出ポンプを介して回収インクを再利用回収インクタンクに回収すればよい。
 以上説明したように、本実施形態においても、前記各実施形態と同様に、再利用回収インクタンクにバージンインクを供給するとともに、希釈液を供給することで、再利用回収インクタンクの回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。また、インクの種類毎にインクを回収するので、再利用回収インクタンクから種類毎のインクを記録ヘッド3に供給することで、インクの種類毎に回収インクを再利用することができ、大幅に廃インクを減らすことができる。
 また、本実施形態では、再利用回収インクタンクに回収されるインクは、印刷動作中において吐出され記録媒体2に着弾しないインクである。
 これによれば、記録媒体2に着弾しないインクをプラテン400のインクキャッチャー401で回収することができる。
<第5実施形態>
 次に、本発明の第5実施形態について説明する。
 本実施形態においては、第4実施形態と同様に、記録ヘッド3のフラッシングではなく、印刷時に記録媒体2以外に吐出されたインクを回収する場合の例を示している。
 図10は本発明の記録装置としてのプリンターの第5実施形態を示す概略図である。
 なお、本実施形態においては、前記各実施形態と同一の構成要素については、同一の符号を付しその説明を省略する。
 図10に示すように、本実施形態のプリンター1は、記録媒体2にインクを吐出して印刷を行うラインヘッドからなる記録ヘッド3を備える。
 記録ヘッド3と記録媒体2との間には、記録媒体2の搬送方向に向かって開口するインクキャッチャー501が設けられる。インクキャッチャー501は、記録ヘッド3と一体に設けられ、インクキャッチャー501には、インク回収機構502が接続される。
 また、インクキャッチャー501の開口に対向する位置には、インク回収のための風を記録媒体2の搬送方向に沿って送るインク回収用ファン503が設けられる。
 記録媒体2に着弾させるインク液滴と回収するインク液滴を切り替える技術は、コンティニュアス型インクジェット方式という名称で広く知られている。
 具体的な方法としては、(1)小さい液滴と大きい液滴を作り、小さい液滴のみインク回収用ファン503の送風に飛ばされることで、所望の印刷を行う。あるいは、(2)インク回収用ファン503による送風箇所を任意に変更して、所望の印刷を行うなどである。
 そして、本実施形態においては、記録媒体2に対して記録ヘッド3からインクを吐出しながら印刷を行う際に、インク回収用ファン503を駆動して、インクキャッチャー501に向けて送風を行う。これにより、記録媒体2に着弾しないインクは、その進路が偏向されてインクキャッチャー501に入る。
 そして、インクキャッチャー501に入ったインクは、インク回収機構502により、第1実施形態と同様に、再利用回収インクタンク17に回収される。
 なお、本実施形態においては、記録媒体2に着弾しないインクをインク回収用ファン503を用いてインクキャッチャー501に回収するようにしているが、これに限定されない。例えば、インクキャッチャー501の内部からインクを吸引して回収するようにしてもよいし、静電気により回収するようにしてもよいし、その他、既知の方法により回収することが可能である。
 また、本実施形態においては、第4実施形態のように、プリンター1の設計上、印刷するインクを記録媒体2に着弾させる位置に細溝からなるインクキャッチャー501を設けることが困難な場合に有効である。
 以上説明したように、本実施形態においても、前記各実施形態と同様に、再利用回収インクタンク17にバージンインクを供給するとともに、希釈液を供給することで、再利用回収インクタンク17の回収インクを常に一定の品質に保持することができる。また、インクの種類毎にインクを回収するので、再利用回収インクタンクから種類毎のインクを記録ヘッド3に供給することで、インクの種類毎に回収インクを再利用することができ、大幅に廃インクを減らすことができる。
 また、本実施形態では、再利用回収インクタンク17に回収されるインクの液滴は、印刷動作中において進行するインクの液滴の進行方向を変更して、記録ヘッド3に設けられるインクキャッチャー501に入れるように構成されている。
 これによれば、インクキャッチャー501により記録媒体2に着弾しないインクを回収することができる。
 なお、前述した実施の形態は、あくまでも本発明の一態様を示すものであり、本発明の範囲内で任意に変形及び応用が可能である。
 例えば、前記各実施形態では、記録ヘッド3のフラッシング動作により吐出したインクを回収するものであるが、その他、例えば、ノズル孔4からインクを吸引するクリーニング動作などの他のメンテナンスにより回収したインクに適用してもよい。

Claims (8)

  1.  異なる種類のインクを媒体に吐出する記録装置であって、
     記録ヘッドと、
     前記記録ヘッドから吐出される前記インクをインク種類毎に回収し貯留する回収インク貯留部と、
     前記記録ヘッドから前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクの量に応じてバージンインクを前記回収インク貯留部に供給するインク補給流路と、
     前記回収インク貯留部のインク粘度に応じて希釈液を前記回収インク貯留部に供給する希釈液流路と、
     前記回収インク貯留部に貯留されたインクを前記記録ヘッドに供給するインク供給流路と、を備えることを特徴とする記録装置。
  2.  前記回収インク貯留部に貯留されるインクの粘度を検出する粘度検出部を更に有し、
     前記粘度検出部で検出される粘度に応じて前記希釈液を前記回収インク貯留部に供給することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の記録装置。
  3.  それぞれが単一種類のインクを吐出する複数の前記記録ヘッドは、複数の吐出ノズルを備え、
     複数の前記記録ヘッドは、前記媒体の搬送経路から離間可能な構成であり、
     前記搬送経路から離間した前記記録ヘッド毎に、前記複数の吐出ノズルを覆うインク回収キャップを備えることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の記録装置。
  4.  前記媒体の搬送経路の一部は、それぞれが単一種類のインクを吐出する複数の吐出ノズルを備えた複数の前記記録ヘッドから退避可能な構成であり、
     前記記録ヘッドから退避した前記搬送経路に進入して、前記複数の吐出ノズルを覆うインク回収キャップを備えることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の記録装置。
  5.  前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクは、非印刷動作中においてフラッシング吐出されたインクであることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4の何れか一項に記載の記録装置。
  6.  前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクは、印刷動作中において吐出され前記媒体に着弾しないインクであることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4の何れか一項に記載の記録装置。
  7.  前記回収インク貯留部に回収されるインクの液滴は、印刷動作中において進行するインクの液滴の進行方向を変更して、前記記録ヘッドに設けられるインクキャッチャーに入れるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の記録装置。
  8.  前記回収インク貯留部の内部の圧力を負圧にする圧力調整機構を有することを特徴とする請求項1から請求項7の何れか一項に記載の記録装置。
