본 출원은 2015년 11월 05일 자로 출원된 한국 특허출원번호 제10-2015-0155195호에 대한 우선권주장출원으로서, 해당 출원의 명세서 및 도면에 개시된 모든 내용은 인용에 의해 본 출원에 원용된다.
제품 군에 따른 적용 용이성이 높고, 높은 에너지 밀도 등의 전기적 특성을 가지는 이차전지는 휴대용 기기뿐만 아니라 전기적 구동원에 의하여 구동하는 전기차량(EV, Electric Vehicle) 또는 하이브리드 차량(HEV, Hybrid Electric Vehicle) 등에 보편적으로 응용되고 있다. 이러한 이차전지는 화석 연료의 사용을 획기적으로 감소시킬 수 있다는 일차적인 장점뿐만 아니라 에너지의 사용에 따른 부산물이 전혀 발생되지 않는다는 점에서 친환경 및 에너지 효율성 제고를 위한 새로운 에너지원으로 주목 받고 있다.
현재 널리 사용되는 이차전지의 종류에는 리튬 이온 전지, 리튬 폴리머 전지, 니켈 카드뮴 전지, 니켈 수소 전지, 니켈 아연 전지 등이 있다. 이러한 단위 이차전지 셀, 즉, 단위 배터리 셀의 작동 전압은 약 2.5V ~ 4.2V이다. 따라서, 이보다 더 높은 출력 전압이 요구될 경우, 복수 개의 배터리 셀을 직렬로 연결하여 배터리 팩을 구성하기도 한다. 또한, 배터리 팩에 요구되는 충방전 용량에 따라 다수의 배터리 셀을 병렬 연결하여 배터리 팩을 구성하기도 한다. 따라서, 상기 배터리 팩에 포함되는 배터리 셀의 개수는 요구되는 출력 전압 또는 충방전 용량에 따라 다양하게 설정될 수 있다.
한편, 복수 개의 배터리 셀을 직렬/병렬로 연결하여 배터리 팩을 구성할 경우, 복수 개의 배터리 셀로 이루어지는 배터리 모듈을 먼저 구성하고, 이러한 복수 개의 배터리 모듈을 이용하여 기타 구성요소를 추가하여 배터리 팩을 구성하는 방법이 일반적이다.
이러한 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 포함하여 고출력 대용량으로 구비되는 배터리 모듈 및 배터리 팩 등의 경우, 충방전 과정 등에서 발생하는 열로 인한 발화 또는 폭발 등이 문제될 수 있는 바, 일반적으로, 배터리 모듈에는 배터리 모듈 내부의 배터리 셀들의 온도를 파악하기 위한 온도 센서가 장착된다. 이러한 온도 센서는 정확한 온도 측정을 위해 배터리 모듈 내부의 배터리 셀 가까이에 배치될 수 있게 배터리 모듈 내부에 관통 삽입 장착된다.
이하, 하기 도 1을 참조하여 종래 배터리 모듈에서 온도 센서 장착을 위한 조립 공정에 대해 좀 더 자세히 살펴 본다.
도 1은 종래 배터리 모듈의 온도 센서의 조립 불량을 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 종래 배터리 모듈(1)은, 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(3)을 포함하는 배터리 셀 어셈블리(2), 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(2)의 상측에 장착되며, 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(3)을 전기적으로 연결하는 인터커넥션 보드(5), 상기 인터커넥션 보드에 구비되는 온도 센서 장착홈(6) 및 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(6)에 관통 삽입되며 상기 배터리 모듈(1) 내의 상기 배터리 셀(3)의 온도를 측정하기 위한 온도 센서(7)를 포함한다.
그러나, 종래 배터리 모듈(1)에서는 상기 온도 센서(7) 장착 시, 상기 배터리 셀(3)의 단부(4)가 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(6)의 저부에 배치될 경우, 상기 온도 센서(7)의 단부(8)와 상기 배터리 셀(3)의 단부(4)와의 간섭이 빈번하게 발생될 수 있다. 이러한 간섭이 발생할 경우, 상기 배터리 모듈(1) 내부로 상기 온도 센서(7)의 장착이 어려운 문제가 있다.
또한, 이러한 간섭 발생 시, 상기 온도 센서(7)를 억지로 밀어 넣는 등 상기 온도 센서(7)의 장착을 위한 조립을 지속할 경우, 상기 온도 센서(7)가 오조립되거나 상기 배터리 셀(3)의 손상이 발생할 위험이 커지는 문제가 있다.
따라서, 본 발명의 목적은 배터리 모듈의 온도 센서 장착 시 온도 센서의 오조립을 방지할 수 있는 배터리 모듈, 이러한 배터리 모듈을 포함하는 배터리 팩 및 이러한 배터리 팩을 포함하는 자동차를 제공하기 위한 것이다.
상기 목적을 해결하기 위해, 본 발명은, 배터리 모듈로서, 서로 적층되는 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 셀 어셈블리; 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리의 적어도 일측에 장착되며, 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 인터커넥션 보드; 상기 인터커넥션 보드에 구비되며, 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리의 온도를 측정하기 위한 온도 센서가 관통되는 온도 센서 장착홈; 및 상기 온도 센서 장착홈의 저부에 구비되며, 상기 온도 센서 관통 시 상기 온도 센서와 마주 하는 배터리 셀과의 간섭을 방지하기 위한 오조립 방지부;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 모듈을 제공한다.
상기 오조립 방지부는, 상기 인터커넥션 보드의 저부로부터 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 향해 돌출되며, 상기 온도 센서가 관통될 수 있게 상기 온도 센서 장착홈과 연통되는 센서 관통홀을 구비하는 방지부 본체; 및 상기 방지부 본체에 구비되며, 상기 인터커넥션 보드 장착 시 마주 하는 배터리 셀을 상기 센서 관통홀 외측으로 밀어내는 센서 조립 가이더;를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 센서 조립 가이더는, 상기 마주 하는 배터리 셀을 향해 경사지게 형성될 수 있다.
상기 센서 조립 가이더를 마주 하는 배터리 셀은, 상기 인터커넥션 보드 장착 시, 상기 센서 조립 가이더와 접촉되면서 상기 센서 조립 가이더의 상방으로 슬라이딩될 수 있다.
상기 센서 조립 가이더는, 상기 방지부 본체의 외측면에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 방지부 본체의 외경은, 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리를 향해 점차적으로 감소될 수 있다.
상기 오조립 방지부는, 상기 인터커넥션 보드에 일체로 형성될 수 있다.
그리고, 본 발명은, 배터리 팩으로서, 전술한 실시예들에 따른 배터리 모듈;을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 팩을 제공한다.
아울러, 본 발명은, 자동차로서, 전술한 실시예에 따른 배터리 팩;을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 자동차를 제공한다.
이상과 같은 다양한 실시예들에 따라, 배터리 모듈의 온도 센서 장착 시 온도 센서의 오조립을 방지할 수 있는 배터리 모듈, 이러한 배터리 모듈을 포함하는 배터리 팩 및 이러한 배터리 팩을 포함하는 자동차를 제공할 수 있다.
이에 따라, 온도 센서 장착 시 간섭으로 인한 배터리 셀의 손상 등을 방지할 수 있는 배터리 모듈, 이러한 배터리 모듈을 포함하는 배터리 팩 및 이러한 배터리 팩을 포함하는 자동차를 제공할 수 있다.
아울러, 이러한 온도 센서 장착 구조를 통해 조립성 및 생산성을 향상시킬 수 있는 배터리 모듈, 이러한 배터리 모듈을 포함하는 배터리 팩 및 이러한 배터리 팩을 포함하는 자동차를 제공할 수 있다.
본 명세서에 첨부되는 다음의 도면들은 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시하는 것이며, 후술되는 발명의 상세한 설명과 함께 본 발명의 기술사상을 더욱 이해시키는 역할을 하는 것이므로, 본 발명은 그러한 도면에 기재된 사항에만 한정되어 해석되어서는 아니된다.

본 발명은 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 상세히 설명함으로써 더욱 명백해 질 것이다. 여기서 설명되는 실시예는 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 예시적으로 나타낸 것이며, 본 발명은 여기서 설명되는 실시예와 다르게 다양하게 변형되어 실시될 수 있음이 이해되어야 할 것이다. 또한, 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여, 첨부된 도면은 실제 축척대로 도시된 것이 아니라 일부 구성요소의 치수가 과장되게 도시될 수 있다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 배터리 모듈을 설명하기 위한 도면이며, 도 3은 도 2의 배터리 모듈의 분해 사시도이며, 도 4는 도 2의 배터리 모듈의 단면도이다.
도 2 내지 도 4를 참조하면, 배터리 모듈(10)은, 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100), 인터커넥션 보드(200), 온도 센서 장착홈(300), 온도 센서(400) 및 오조립 방지부(500)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)는 상기 배터리 모듈(10)을 구성하는 주요한 각종 부품들의 조립체로써 구비될 수 있다. 이러한 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)는, 배터리 셀(110), 셀 카트리지(120) 및 엔드 플레이트(130)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 배터리 셀(110)은 파우치형 이차 전지로서, 복수 개로 구비될 수 있다. 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)은 서로 전후 방향(Y축 방향) 또는 상하 방향(Z축 방향)으로 적층되어 구비될 수 있다.
상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)은, 각각, 전극 조립체(112), 파우치 케이스(114) 및 전극 리드(118)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 전극 조립체(112)는 양극판, 음극판 및 세퍼레이터 등으로 구성될 수 있다. 상기 전극 조립체(112)에 대해서는 잘 알려져 있으므로, 이하, 자세한 설명을 생략한다.
상기 파우치 케이스(114)는 상기 전극 조립체(112)를 패키징하며, 수지층과 금속층을 포함하는 라미네이트 시트로 이루어질 수 있다. 이러한 상기 파우치 케이스(114)는, 파우치 본체(115) 및 파우치 테라스(116)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 파우치 본체(115)는 상기 전극 조립체(112)를 수용할 수 있다. 상기 파우치 테라스(116)는 상기 전극 조립체(112)를 수용하는 파우치 본체(115) 내부를 밀봉할 수 있게 상기 파우치 본체(115)로부터 돌출되어 열 융착될 수 있다
상기 전극 리드(118)는 상기 전극 조립체(112)와 전기적으로 연결되며, 상기 파우치 케이스(114)의 상기 파우치 테라스(116) 밖으로 돌출될 수 있다. 이러한 상기 전극 리드(118)는 한 쌍으로 구비될 수 있다. 상기 한 쌍의 전극 리드들(118)은 각각 양극 리드 및 음극 리드로 이루어질 수 있다.
상기 셀 카트리지(120)는 적어도 하나의 배터리 셀(110)을 홀딩하여 그 유동을 방지하고, 상호 적층 가능하도록 구성되어 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)의 조립을 가이드할 수 있다. 이러한 상기 셀 카트리지(120)는 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)의 적층을 가이드할 수 있게 복수 개로 구비되어 상호 적층될 수 있다.
상기 엔드 플레이트(130)는 상기 복수 개의 셀 카트리지들(120)에 장착된 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)을 지지하기 위한 것으로서, 한 쌍으로 구비되어 상기 복수 개의 셀 카트리지들(120)의 전후 방향에서 최외곽에 구비된 셀 카트리지들(120)에 각각 장착될 수 있다.
상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)는 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)의 적어도 일측, 구체적으로, 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)의 상측에 장착되며, 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)의 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)을 전기적으로 연결할 수 있다.
이러한 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)는 커넥터 장착부(250)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 커넥터 장착부(250)는 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 상측에 구비되며, 상기 배터리 모듈(10)의 외부의 제어 장치 등과 전기적으로 연결되기 위한 커넥터 등의 단자와 결합되어 연결될 수 있다.
상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)은, 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)에 구비될 수 있다. 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)에는 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)의 온도, 구체적으로, 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)의 온도를 측정하기 위한 후술하는 온도 센서(400)가 관통 삽입될 수 있다.
상기 온도 센서(400)는 앞서 살펴 본 바와 같이 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)의 온도를 측정하기 위한 것으로서, 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)에 관통 삽입되어 상기 배터리 셀(110) 가까이에 배치될 수 있다.
이러한 상기 온도 센서(400)는 써미스터(Thermistor)로 구비될 수 있다. 이에 한정되는 것은 아니며 상기 온도 센서(400)는 상기 배터리 셀(110)의 온도를 측정할 수 있는 기타 다양한 온도 센서로 구비될 수 있음은 물론이다.
상기 오조립 방지부(500)는 상기 온도 센서(400)의 오조립을 방지하기 위한 것으로서, 상기 온도 센서(400)의 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300) 관통 시 상기 온도 센서(400)와 마주 하는 배터리 셀(110)과의 간섭을 방지할 수 있다.
이러한 상기 오조립 방지부(500)는 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 저부(202)로부터 하방(-Z축 방향)으로 돌출되며, 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)과 연통될 수 있게 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)의 저부에 구비될 수 있다. 여기서, 상기 오조립 방지부(500)는 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)에 일체로 형성될 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 오조립 방지부(500)는, 방지부 본체(510) 및 센서 조립 가이더(520)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 방지부 본체(510)는 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 저부(202)로부터 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들(110)을 향해 하방(-Z축 방향)으로 돌출될 수 있다. 여기서, 상기 방지부 본체(510)는 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)로부터 일체로 연장될 수 있다.
이러한 상기 방지부 본체(510)는 센서 관통홀(515)을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 센서 관통홀(515)는 상기 온도 센서(400)를 관통시킬 수 있게 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)과 연통될 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 센서 관통홀(515)은 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)과 함께 상기 온도 센서(400)를 관통시킬 수 있는 관통로를 형성할 수 있다.
상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)는 상기 방지부 본체(510)에 구비되며, 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100) 장착 시 마주 하는 배터리 셀(110)의 파우치 테라스(116)의 단부(117)를 상기 센서 관통홀(515) 외측으로 밀어낼 수 있다.
이러한 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)는 상기 방지부 본체(510)의 외측면에 상기 마주 하는 배터리 셀(110)을 향해 하방(-Z축 방향)으로 경사지게 형성될 수 있다. 즉, 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)는 대략 사선 형태의 단면을 갖도록 형성될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 상기 방지부 본체(510)의 외경을 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)를 향해 점차적으로 감소될 수 있다.
이하에서는, 본 실시예에 따른 상기 배터리 모듈(10)의 상기 온도 센서(400)의 구체적인 조립 공정에 대해 자세히 설명한다.
도 5 내지 도 7은 도 2의 배터리 모듈의 온도 센서 조립을 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 5 내지 도 7을 참조하면, 먼저, 제조자 등은, 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)의 상측을 커버할 수 있게 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(100)에 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)를 장착시킬 수 있다. 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)는 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(200)의 상측에서 하방(-Z축 방향)으로 이동된 후 결합부재 등을 통해 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리(200)의 상측에 장착될 수 있다.
이때, 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)의 저부에 배치되는 배터리 셀(110)은 상기 오조립 방지부(500)의 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)를 마주 하게 배치될 수 있다. 여기서, 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)를 마주 하는 배터리 셀(110)의 상기 파우치 테라스(116)의 단부(117)는, 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 하방(-Z축 방향) 이동에 따라, 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)와 접촉하면서 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)의 경사면을 따라 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)의 상방으로 슬라이딩될 수 있다.
이에 따라, 상기 센서 조립 가이더(520)를 마주 하는 배터리 셀(110)의 상기 파우치 테라스(116)의 단부(117)는, 상기 센서 관통홀(515)을 벗어나면서 상기 센서 관통홀(515) 밖의 양측 중 어느 일측, 본 실시예에서, 상기 센서 관통홀(515)의 좌측으로 밀려 나갈 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 파우치 테라스(116)의 단부(117)는 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300)의 저부 밖에 배치될 수 있다.
상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 장착이 완료되면, 제조자 등은 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300) 및 상기 오조립 방지부(500)의 상기 센서 관통홀(515)을 통해 상기 온도 센서(400)를 관통시켜 상기 인터커넥션 보드(200)의 하측(-Z축 방향)으로 이동시킬 수 있다.
이때, 상기 온도센서 장착홈(300)의 저부에 배치되는 상기 배터리 셀(110)에서, 상기 파우치 테라스(116)의 단부(117)는 상기 온도 센서 장착홈(300) 및 상기 센서 관통홀(515)을 벗어난 지점에 배치되는 바, 상기 온도 센서(400)의 관통 삽입 시, 상기 온도 센서(400)의 단부(405)와 간섭되지 않을 수 있다.
따라서, 상기 온도 센서(400)는 그 장착 시, 상기 오조립 방지부(500)를 통해 마주 하는 배터리 셀(110)의 단부(117), 즉, 파우치 테라스(116)의 단부(117)에 간섭되지 않고 안정적으로 상기 배터리 셀(110) 가까이에 배치될 수 있게 장착될 수 있다.
이처럼, 본 실시예에 따른 상기 배터리 모듈(10)은, 상기 오조립 방지부(500)를 통해 상기 온도 센서(400)의 오조립을 방지할 수 있어, 상기 온도 센서(400) 장착 시 발생할 수 있는 상기 배터리 셀(110)의 손상 또한 방지할 수 있다.
아울러, 본 실시예에 따른 상기 배터리 모듈(10)에서는 이러한 상기 온도 센서(400) 장착 구조를 통해 상기 배터리 모듈(10)의 조립성 및 생산성을 현저히 향상시킬 수 있다.
도 8은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 배터리 팩을 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 8을 참조하면, 배터리 팩(P)은, 상기 적어도 하나의 배터리 모듈(10) 및 상기 적어도 하나의 배터리 모듈(10)을 패키징하기 위한 팩 케이스(50)를 포함할 수 있다.
이러한 상기 배터리 팩(P)은 자동차의 연료원으로써, 자동차에 구비될 수 있다. 예로써, 상기 배터리 팩(P)은 전기 자동차, 하이브리드 자동차 및 기타 배터리 팩(P)을 연료원으로써 이용할 수 있는 기타 다른 방식으로 자동차에 구비될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 배터리 팩(P)은 상기 자동차 이외에도 이차 전지를 이용하는 전력 저장 장치(Energy Storage System) 등 기타 다른 장치나 기구 및 설비 등에도 구비되는 것도 가능할 수 있음은 물론이다.
이처럼, 본 실시예에 따른 상기 배터리 팩(P)과 상기 자동차와 같은 상기 배터리 팩(P)을 구비하는 장치나 기구 및 설비는 전술한 상기 배터리 모듈(10)을 포함하는 바, 전술한 배터리 모듈(10)로 인한 장점을 모두 갖는 배터리 팩(P) 및 상기 배터리 팩(P)을 구비하는 상기 자동차와 같은 장치나 기구 및 설비를 구현할 수 있다.
이상에서는 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 대하여 도시하고 설명하였지만, 본 발명은 상술한 특정의 실시예에 한정되지 아니하며, 청구범위에서 청구하는 본 발명의 요지를 벗어남이 없이 당해 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진자에 의해 다양한 변형실시가 가능한 것은 물론이고, 이러한 변형실시들은 본 발명의 기술적 사상이나 전망으로부터 개별적으로 이해돼서는 안 될 것이다.

Claims (9)

  1. 서로 적층되는 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 셀 어셈블리;
    상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리의 적어도 일측에 장착되며, 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 인터커넥션 보드;
    상기 인터커넥션 보드에 구비되며, 상기 배터리 셀 어셈블리의 온도를 측정하기 위한 온도 센서가 관통되는 온도 센서 장착홈; 및
    상기 온도 센서 장착홈의 저부에 구비되며, 상기 온도 센서 관통 시 상기 온도 센서와 마주 하는 배터리 셀과의 간섭을 방지하기 위한 오조립 방지부;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 모듈.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 오조립 방지부는,
    상기 인터커넥션 보드의 저부로부터 상기 복수 개의 배터리 셀들을 향해 돌출되며, 상기 온도 센서가 관통될 수 있게 상기 온도 센서 장착홈과 연통되는 센서 관통홀을 구비하는 방지부 본체; 및
    상기 방지부 본체에 구비되며, 상기 인터커넥션 보드 장착 시 마주 하는 배터리 셀을 상기 센서 관통홀 외측으로 밀어내는 센서 조립 가이더;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 모듈.
  3. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 센서 조립 가이더는,
    상기 마주 하는 배터리 셀을 향해 경사지게 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 모듈.
  4. 제3항에 있어서,
    상기 센서 조립 가이더를 마주 하는 배터리 셀은,
    상기 인터커넥션 보드 장착 시, 상기 센서 조립 가이더와 접촉되면서 상기 센서 조립 가이더의 상방으로 슬라이딩되는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 모듈.
