Abstract

【課題】眼球に向けて照射する光の作用により近視を予防又は近視の進行を遅らせることができる照射装置を提供する。 【解決手段】光源1とその光源1を装着する器具2とを有する照射装置10であって、光源1は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を少なくとも発するとともに、器具2を装着した際に眼球方向に照射する位置に配置され且つ眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されて上記課題を解決する。このとき、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光の放射照度が、器具2を装着した際の眼球表面で0.02W/m以上、1.0W/m以下であるように構成できる。

Description

照射装置
 本発明は、眼球に向けて光を照射する装置に関する。さらに詳しくは、本発明は、眼球に向けて照射する光の作用により、近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせること等ができる身体装着用の照射装置に関する。
 近視の人口は依然として世界的に増えており、近視の発生を予防する手段や近視の進行を遅らせる手段が強く求められている。
 非特許文献1には、太陽光を浴びることによる近視の抑制に関する記述がある。また、非特許文献2には、太陽光を浴びることによる体内時計の改善に関する記述がある。

 近年、眼に太陽光(特に紫外線等)をできるだけ入れないようなサングラスやコンタクトレンズ等が市販されている。また、家屋や車両においても、紫外線をできるだけ透過しないガラス等の透過部材が採用されるケースがある。また、室内で用いる蛍光灯やLEDにおいても、紫外線をできるだけ発しないものが市販されている。
 上記したサングラスやコンタクトレンズ等においては、眼に悪影響があるとする315nm以下の波長の光をカットすることを目的としている。315nm以下の波長の光としては、例えばいわゆるUVB(280~315nmの波長の光)やUVC(100~280nmの波長の光)と呼ばれる光のことである。また、ガラス等の透過部材においては、室内家具の色褪せや、肌の日焼け等を防ぐことを目的としている。
 本発明者らはこれまで、近視の抑制について研究している過程で、太陽光に含まれる広範囲の波長の中で、特定の波長範囲内の光を眼球に照射することにより、視力低下の抑制の可能性があること見出した。
 本発明は、そうした研究結果を踏まえ、どの波長範囲内の光を眼球に照射すれば近視の予防又は近視の進行等の抑制により効果的であるかを研究した成果である。すなわち、本発明の目的は、眼球に向けて照射する光の作用により近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせること等ができる身体装着用の照射装置を提供することにある。
 上記課題を解決するための本発明に係る照射装置は、光源と当該光源を装着する器具とを有する照射装置であって、前記光源は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を少なくとも発するとともに、前記器具を装着した際に眼球方向に照射する位置に配置されており、前記光源が、眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されている、ことを特徴とする。
 この発明によれば、器具を身体に装着した際に眼球方向に照射する位置に光源が配置されているので、光源から発する光を眼球に適切に照射することができる。そして、その光源は、上記範囲内の波長の光を少なくとも発するとともに、眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されているので、眼球に向けて効果的に照射することができ、照射する光の作用により近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせること等ができる。
 本発明に係る照射装置において、前記光源は、440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光をさらに発する、又は、440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光を発する他の光源をさらに備える、ように構成できる。
 本発明に係る照射装置において、前記光源は、赤色光、近赤外光及び遠赤外光から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の光をさらに発する、又は、赤色光、近赤外光及び遠赤外光から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の光を発する他の光源をさらに備える、ように構成できる。
 本発明に係る照射装置において、前記光源は、白色光をさらに発する、又は、白色光を発する光源をさらに備える、ように構成できる。
 本発明に係る照射装置において、前記350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光の放射照度が、前記器具を装着した際の眼球表面で0.02W/m以上、1.0W/m以下であるように構成できる。
 本発明に係る照射装置において、前記器具が、めがね、帽子又は耳掛け具であるように構成できる。
 本発明に係る照射装置によれば、眼球に向けて照射する光の作用により近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせること等ができる身体装着用の照射装置を提供することができる。

 以下、本発明に係る照射装置について図面を参照しつつ説明する。本発明は、本願記載の要旨を含む限り以下の実施形態及び実施例に限定されるものではなく、種々の態様に変形可能である。
 本発明に係る照射装置10は、図1~図4に示すように、光源1と、その光源1を装着する器具2とを有している。光源1は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光4を少なくとも発するものであり、光源1は、器具2を装着した際に眼球方向Aに照射する位置に配置されている。また、その光源1は、眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されていることが望ましい。
 こうした照射装置10は、器具2を装着した際に眼球方向Aに照射する位置に光源1が配置されているので、光源1から発する光4を眼球3に適切に照射することができる。そして、その光源1は、上記範囲内の波長の光4を少なくとも発するとともに、眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されているので、眼球に向けて正確且つ効果的に照射することができ、照射する光の作用により近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせること等ができる。
 以下、本発明に係る照射装置の構成要素について詳しく説明する。なお、本願において、「光」の語は、電磁波の意味で用いているので、「光」を「電磁波」に置き換えても同義である。
 (器具)
 器具2は、図1~図4に示すように、光源1を装着するものである。この器具2に光源1が装着されることにより、光源1から発した光4が眼球3に向かう。器具2としては、図1に示すようなめがねフレームを好ましく挙げることができるが、これに限定されない。
 めがねフレーム以外の器具2としては、図2に示すような帽子型の器具や、図3に示すような耳掛け型の器具、図4に示すような眼球3に直接装着するコンタクト型の器具であってもよい。いずれの器具2も、眼に近い顔、頭、耳等に着けて、光源1から発した光4を眼球3の方向Aに向けることができるものである。このようなものであれば、器具2は、図1~図4に例示したもの以外であってもよい。
 こうした形態の器具2により、その器具2を人が装着した際に、眼球方向Aに照射する位置に光源1を配置することができる。その結果、光源1から発する光4を眼球3に適切に照射することができる。
 本発明では、器具2に装着した光源1を、眼球3の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されるようにすることが好ましい。眼球3の表面から0mmというのは、例えば光源を眼球3に直接装着するコンタクト型の装着器具の場合を指している。こうした位置に配置することにより、眼球に向けて正確且つ効果的に照射することができ、照射する光の作用により近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせることができる。なお、眼球3の表面から100mm以下としたのは、100mmを超える位置に配置した場合、顔や頭から光源1が離れてしまい、眼球に対する照射の精度が低下するとともに、邪魔になるおそれもあり、さらに光源1の選択の幅が減ることを考慮したものである。
 (光源)
 光源1は、器具2を人が装着した際に、光4を眼球方向Aに照射する位置に配置されている。光源1を配置する位置は、器具2の形態によって異なり、例えば図1のめがね型の器具ではフレームに光源1を設けることができる。フレームに設ける位置は特に限定されないが、光源1をフレームの全周に設けてもよいし、フレーム上側(トップリム側)、フレーム外端側(テンプル側)、フレーム内端側(ブリッジ側)、フレーム下側(アンダーリム側)の四方のいずれか1又は2以上の位置に設けてもよい。図2の帽子型の器具では、帽子のつば等に光源1を設けることができる。図3の耳掛け型の器具では、耳から伸びるアーム部に光源1を設けることができる。図4の眼球へのコンタクト型の器具では、その器具と一体型の光源1としてもよい。
 光源1から発する光4は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光である。この範囲内の波長の光4を眼球3に照射することにより、近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせること等ができる。「350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光」とは、波長が350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内であればよい。例えば350~380nmの光であってもよい。例えば360~390nmの光であってもよい。例えば370~400nmの光であってもよい。もちろん、350~400nmの光であってもよい。
 また、そうした光4は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を少なくとも含んで近視を予防(発生を抑える)又は近視の進行を抑制するものであればよい。例えば350nm以上400nm以下の波長範囲内にピークを有する光スペクトラムの光であってもよい。例えば350nm以上400nm以下の波長範囲内にピークを有しない光スペクトラムの光であってもよい。なお、「350nm以上400nm以下の波長範囲内にピークを有する」とは、例えば波長365nmにピークを有する光スペクトラムの光でもよいし、380nmにピークを有する光スペクトラムの光でもよい。また、「350nm以上400nm以下の波長範囲内にピークを有しない」とは、例えば、波長400nm超の波長にピークを有する光スペクトラムの光が、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内でも光を発する場合のことである。なお、350nm未満の波長にピークを有する光スペクトラムの光は、眼に悪影響があるとされる315nm以下の光を含む可能性があるので、本発明では除外することが望ましい。
 なお、光4は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光だけであってもよい。この場合、350nm以上400nm以下の波長範囲外(350nm未満の波長の光や、400nm超の光)の光が少し含まれていてもよい。「少し」とは、後述する放射照度よりもかなり小さいノイズとして含まれる態様や、光スペクトラムの裾野部分として僅かに含まれる態様を挙げることができる。その程度は特に限定されるものではないが、近視を予防(発生を抑える)又は近視の進行を抑制に寄与しない程度の光であり、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の光量の10%未満程度ということができる。
 非特許文献3には、週14時間以上の屋外活動は近視の発症の確率を大きく下げると記載されている。しかしながら、屋外のどのような活動が近視の発症の確率を下げているかは不明であった。例えば、屋外にいること自体による景色や動植物を見る等の付随的な眼球の動きが有効であるのか、体の動きが有効であるのか、屋外でのストレス解消が有効であるのか、自然光を浴びる環境要因(可視光線の強度、紫外線の強度、浴びる時間等)のいずれかが有効であるのか、については、従来は明らかになっていなかった。特に、近視予防に効果がある光の波長範囲に関しては特定されていなかった。
 本発明では、器具2を眼球3の表面から100mm以下の所定位置に装着した際、眼球3の表面での放射照度において、350nm以上400nm以下の波長範囲の積分値で0.02W/m以上が好ましい。より好ましい放射照度は、0.25W/m以上であり、さらに好ましくは0.5W/m以上である。こうした放射照度の光4を眼の表面に照射することにより、その光4の作用により近視を予防すること又は近視の進行を遅らせることができる。後述の実験1では、光を0.25W/m以上の放射照度で1日2時間以上浴びせる。こうすることにより、1日あたりに眼が受ける光のドーズ量は1800J/m以上になる。なお、1日の照射時間を長くしたり照射日数を長くしたりすれば、放射照度は0.25W/m未満でもよいことになり、上記したように0.02W/m以上であればよい。
 光の放射照度については、太陽光の分光放射照度を測定し、その太陽光の放射照度を基準として算定した。例えば、太陽光の350nm~400nmの波長の光の強さ(放射照度)は、国際標準規格データ(AM1.5G)を基にした計算によれば33.3W/mである。また、実測値として、例えば2015年5月26日の正午(午前12時)における日本国東京都新宿区信濃町35慶應義塾大学信濃町キャンパスでの太陽光の350nm~400nmの波長の光の強さ(放射照度)は北向き水平方向で1.6W/mであった。これらより、本発明において、北向き水平方向の1.6W/mの約15%以上(好ましくは約30%以上)が望ましいと判断し、光源1から発する光4の放射照度を、器具2を装着した際の眼球3の表面で0.25W/m以上(好ましくは0.5W/m以上)とすることが好ましい。なお、上記同様、1日当たりの照射時間を長くすれば、放射照度は0.25W/m未満でもよく、上記したように0.02W/m以上とすることができる。
 こうした放射照度の光源1としては、上市されているLED等を選定して採用することができる。例えば、砲弾型のライト(例えば日亜化学株式会社製のLED「NSPU510CS」、ピーク波長:375nm)等を用いることができる。また、光透過性をコントロールできるフィルター等を用いて放射照度をコントロールすることができる。分光放射照度は、分光器によって測定でき、また、積分値(放射照度)も分光放射照度を求めたい波長領域で積分することで算出できる。その分光放射照度は、器具2を装着した際の眼球3の表面での値として測定する。したがって、上記のように、器具2に装着した光源1は、眼球3の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されるので、その範囲内に配置された光源1からの光4が眼球3の位置に届く位置で評価する。
 (他の波長域の光)
 光源1から発する光4は、少なくとも波長が350nm以上400nm以下であればよいので、350nm以上400nm以下の波長の光だけであってもよいし、他の波長域の光を含んでいてもよい。350nm以上400nm以下の波長の光だけの場合は、その範囲の光だけを発光するLEDを採用してもよいし、他の波長域の光を含む光から350nm以上400nm以下の波長の光以外の光を透過させないフィルター(光吸収フィルター)を用いたものであってもよい。また、400nmを超える他の波長域の光を含んでいてもよい。
 例えば、光源1は、440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光をさらに発するものでもよいし、又は、440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光を発する他の光源をさらに備えるものでもよい。この場合には、体内時計改善効果を併せて付与することができる。
 また、例えば、光源1は、赤色光、近赤外光及び遠赤外光から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の光をさらに発するものでもよいし、又は、赤色光、近赤外光及び遠赤外光から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の光を発する他の光源をさらに備えるものでもよい。赤外領域の定義は種々あるが、ここでは、加熱分野で一般的に定義されているように、赤色光は約600nm~約780nmの波長の光のことであり、近赤外光は約780nm~約3千乃至4千nmの波長の光のことであり、遠赤外光はそれ以上で1000μm以下の波長の光と言うことができる。なお、化学分析分野では、さらに中間赤外光や超遠赤外光の概念が加わり、赤色光は約740nm~約780nmの波長の光のことであり、近赤外光は約780nm~約1500nmの波長の光のことであり、中間赤外光は約1500nm~約5600nmの波長の光であり、遠赤外光は約5600nm~約25000nmの波長の光であり、超遠赤外光は約25000nm~約1000μm以下の波長の光と言われている。
 また、例えば、光源1は、白色光をさらに発するものでもよいし、又は、白色光を発する他の光源をさらに備えるものでもよい。一例としては、図9に示す発光素子を挙げることができる。図9に示す発光素子は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の励起光を発光する発光素子と、白色光を発する発光素子とを備えている。この発光素子は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の励起光を発光する励起光発光部(LED)と、その励起光発光部を覆うように設けられた赤(Red)、緑(Green)及び青(Blue)の各蛍光体とで構成された例である。こうした構成により、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の励起光が蛍光体に照射されると蛍光体は赤緑青の三原色に構成される白色光を発する。350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光(励起光)の一部は図示するように蛍光体を透過する。こうした発光素子は、近視予防効果を生じさせる光を含む白色光源として利用できる。
 また、他の一例としては、図10に示す発光素子を挙げることができる。図10に示す発光素子は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を発光する発光素子と、白色光を発するRGB発光素子とを備えている。この発光素子は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を発光する発光部と、R(赤)、G(緑)及びB(青)の各発光部(LED)とで構成された例である。こうした構成により、近視予防効果を生じさせる光を含む白色光源として利用できる。
 なお、一般的なRGB発光素子は、太陽光に近い擬似的な白色光を作り出すことはできても、その白色光中には350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光はほとんど含まれていない。しかしながら、図9及び図10に示す発光素子は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光が発光しており、この光は、全体としてスペクトル幅がより広く、太陽光により近い白色光(自然光)ということができる。したがって、図9及び図10に示す発光素子は、特に近視予防効果を有する350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を選択的に発光するという格別の効果を生じさせることができる。白色光は、図9及び図10に例示する手段で発光させてもよいし、それ以外の手段で発光させてもよい。それ以外の手段の一例としては、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の励起光に加え、発光波長をコントロールしたR(赤色)とG(緑色)とからなる発光素子(Bは含まない)を挙げることができる。
 (照射装置)
 照射装置10は、図1~図4に示すように、光源1と、その光源1を装着する器具2とを有しているが、器具2への光源1の取り付けは、接着剤で取り付けてもよいし、ネジやカシメ具で機械的に取り付けてもよい。また、光源1に電力を供給するための電源(図示しない)は、器具2に埋設又は装着したバッテリーであってもよいし、別の位置に装着したバッテリーまでケーブルで引き回したものであってもよい。また、一箇所で動かない場合には、家庭用電源等に接続する形態であってもよい。
 さらに、光源1のコントローラーやタイマー機能を備えていてもよい。コントローラーは、放射照度を可変したり、眼球への照射角度を調整したりする機能等を挙げることができる。また、タイマー機能は、光の放射照度時間を設定できるものを挙げることができる。こうしたコントローラーやタイマー機能は、器具2と一体として設けられていてもよいし、別部材としてもよい。
  上記光源1を備える照射装置10は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光4を少なくとも発し、器具2を装着した際に眼球方向に照射する位置に配置されており、光源1が、眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されている。その結果、眼球3に向けて正確に照射する光4の作用により近視を予防又は近視の進行を遅らせることができる。また、特定波長で所定光量の光を眼球に照射することで、近視予防(350nm以上400nm以下の波長の光)や体内時計改善(440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光)等の効果が奏されるという利点がある。
 以下、実施例により本発明をさらに詳しく説明する。
 [実験1]
 ヒヨコへの光の照射実験を行った。光源は、ピーク波長365nmの紫色光蛍光灯と、通常の白色蛍光灯(400nm以下の光は発していない)とを用いた。図5は、実験1で用いた紫色光蛍光灯の光の分光放射照度と波長との関係を示すグラフである。測定はファイバーマルチチャンネル分光器(StellarNet社(米国)製、Blue Wave)を用いた。ヒヨコは、片目を透明半球で覆うとその眼(遮蔽眼)が近視化することが知られている(例えば、Seko et. al., Invest. Ophthalmol. Vis. Sci. May、1995, vol.36, no.6, p.1183-1187参照)。そこで、生後6日のホワイトレグホン種のヒヨコの片目を透明半球で覆い、当該紫色光を照射しない非照射群15羽と、当該紫色光を照射した照射群15羽とに分けて実験を行った。ヒヨコの眼の高さにおける水平方向の平均放射照度を4.12W/mとし、1日を明暗12時間ずつとして7日間継続し、遮蔽眼の近視化の度合いを調べた。白色蛍光灯は、両群共に照射した。透明半球で覆っていない方の眼をコントロール眼と呼ぶ。図6は、実験1において、紫色光を照射したヒヨコと紫色光を照射しなかったヒヨコの眼軸長の変化を示すグラフである。
 非照射群について、13日目(遮蔽開始7日後)の遮蔽眼の眼軸長を測定した。眼軸長の測定は、US-4000(株式会社ニデック製)を使用しBモードで行った。その結果、照射群の遮蔽眼の平均眼軸長の変化は、非照射群の遮蔽眼の平均眼軸長の変化に比べ有意に小さくなっており、照射群の近視の進行の度合いの方が非照射群に比べて小さくなっていた。コントロール群においても、同じ傾向が見られた。
 [実験2]
 図1に示すめがね型の照射装置を作製した。めがね型のフレームに、ボタン型のライト(日亜化学株式会社製のLED「NSSU123T」、ピーク波長の測定値:373nm)を装着し、その放射照度が0.25W/mとなるように電気的に設定した。こうして本発明に係る照射装置を作製した。なお、光源への電力供給は、家庭用交流電源を用いた。
 [実験3]
 図7に示すめがね型の照射装置を作製した。光源は、日亜化学株式会社製のLED(「NSSU123T」、ピーク波長の測定値:373nm)をレンズ無しフレームに装着した。図7(a)はLEDをトップリム(フレーム上側)のテンプル側(フレーム外端側)に設けた例であり、図7(b)はLEDをトップリム(フレーム上側)中間位置に設けた例であり、図7(c)はLEDをトップリム(フレーム上側)のブリッジ側(フレーム内端側)に設けた例である。図8は、光源の光スペクトラムであり、ファイバーマルチチャンネル分光器(StellarNet社(米国)製、Blue Wave)で測定した。
 このめがね型の照射装置をマネキン人形に装着し、眼球表面での放射照度を測定した。放射照度の測定は、眼球面に上記分光器のプローブを設置して行った。フレームに設けた光源(図7参照)から眼球までの距離は、図7(a)の場合は約3cmであり、図7(b)の場合は約2cmであり、図7(c)の場合は約2.5cmであった。LEDへの印加電圧と、そのときの放射照度の測定結果を表1に示した。表1の結果より、0.02W/m~13.5W/mの範囲で放射照度を可変できるめがね型の照射装置を作製できた。この照射装置を用い、望ましい放射照度に設定して使用することができる。

Claims (6)

  1.  光源と、当該光源を装着する器具とを有する照射装置であって、
     前記光源は、350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光を少なくとも発するとともに、前記器具を装着した際に眼球方向に照射する位置に配置されており、
     前記光源が、眼球の表面から0mm以上100mm以下の位置に配置されている、ことを特徴とする照射装置。
  2.  前記光源は、440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光をさらに発する、又は、440nm以上480nm以下の波長の光を発する他の光源をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の照射装置。
  3.  前記光源は、赤色光、近赤外光及び遠赤外光から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の光をさらに発する、又は、赤色光、近赤外光及び遠赤外光から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の光を発する他の光源をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の照射装置。
  4.  前記光源は、白色光をさらに発する、又は、白色光を発する光源をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の照射装置。
  5.  前記350nm以上400nm以下の範囲内の波長の光の放射照度が、前記器具を装着した際の眼球表面で0.02W/m以上、1.0W/m以下である、請求項1に記載の照射装置。
  6.  前記器具がめがね型である、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の照射装置
