본 출원은 2016년 6월 22일자 한국 특허 출원 제 10-2016-0078225호, 및 2017년 5월 26일자 한국 특허 출원 제 10-2017-0065542에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원들의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다. 본 발명은, 고리 구조의 단량체를 포함하지 않는 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 사용하면서도 치수 안정성 및 광학적 특성이 우수하여, 편광판의 보호 필름으로 유용하게 사용할 수 있는 광학용 필름, 및 이를 포함하는 편광판에 관한 것이다.
【배경기술】
액정 '표시 장치는 편광된 빛을 이용하는 것으로 이를 위하여 편광판이 사용되고 있으며, 대표적으로 PVA 소자가 사용되고 있다. 그러나, PVA 소자와 같은 편광판은 자체의 기계적 특성이 약하고 외부 환경, 예를 들어 온도나 습도의 영향을 쉽게 받기 때문에 이를 보호하기 위한 보호 필름이 필요하다. 이러한 보호 필름은 광학적 특성이 우수하여야 하고 기계적 특성이 우수하여야 한다. 편광판에 사용되는 PVA 소자의 보호 필름으로 종래에는 TAC 필름 (Tr i-Acetyl-cel lulose Fi lm)이 사용되어 왔으나, 최근에는 TAC 필름보다 우수한 내열성 및 내흡수성 특성을 가지는 아크릴계 필름이 사용되고 있다. 이러한 편광판 보호용 아크릴계 필름은 압출 캐스팅과 연신 가공을 통하여 제조되는데, 고온에서의 치수 변화가 적고 광학적 특성이 안정적으로 유지될 수 있도록, 일반적으로 유리전이온도가 120°C 이상인 아크릴계 수지가 사용된다. 또한, 아크릴계 수지의 치수 안정성과 광학적 특성을 보다 향상시키기 위하여 내열성을 부여하는 고리 (cycl ic) 구조의 단량체를 도입하고 있다. 그러나, 고리 구조의 단량체를 도입할 경우, 원료의 단가가 높아질 뿐만 아니라, 보다 높은 온도에서 가공하여야 하고, 이로 인하여 고분자의 말단기가 분해되거나 저분자량의 첨가제들이 열분해되는 문제가 있다. 한편, 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 (PMMA)는 투명성이 우수하여 편광판 보호용 필름으로의 가능성이 있으나, 유리전이온도가 낮으며, 이에 따라 고온에서 사용시 치수 안정성이 나빠지는 문제가 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위하여 상대적으로 높은 온도에서 연신하게 되면 연신 필름의 고온에서의 치수 안정성은 높아지나, 높은 연신 온도에 기인하여 필름 강도 등 물성이 저하된다. 또한, 필름에 첨가되는 저분자량의 첨가제가 필름 표면으로 이동하는 현상이 발생하여 필름의 접착력이 저하되고 외관 불량에 의한 수율 감소 등의 문제가 있다. 이에 본 발명자들은, 고리 구조의 단량체를 포함하지 않는 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 사용하면서도 치수 안정성 및 광학적 특성이 우수한 광학용 필름, 특히 편광판 보호용 필름을 제조하기 위하여 많은 노력을 한 결과, 후술할 바와 같이 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트에 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 특정량 포함하고 또한 특정 중량평균분자량을 가지는 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 사용하여 적절한 연신 가공 조건에서, 상기의 목표를 달성할 수 있음을 확인하여 본 발명을 완성하였다.

【과제의 해결 수단】 상기 과제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 발명은 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트로 이루어진 광학용 필름으로서, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트는 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 1 내지 5 중량 % 포함하고, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 중량평균분자량은 120 , 000 내지 150, 000이고, 상기 광학용 필름에 대하여 온도가 증가함에 따라 MD 방향 및 TD 방향으로 팽창 후 수축이 시작되는 온도 (TTS)가 각각 ioo°c 내지 i2o°c인, 광학용 필름을 제공한다. 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 (PMMA)는 투명성이 우수하여 광학용 필름, 특히 편광판 보호용 필름으로 사용할 수 있다. 그러나, 플리메틸메타크릴레이트률 필름으로 제조할 경우 기계적 강도를 높이기 위하여 연신 공정을 사용하여야 하는데, 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트는 유리전이은도가 낮기 때문에 이를 이용하여 제조한 광학용 필름은 고온에서 연신 이력이 완화되어 치수 안정성이 나빠지는 문제가 있다. 이러한 광학용 필름의 열적 치수 안정성을 평가하기 위하여 TTSCTemperature of Thermal Shr inkage)라는 변수를 도입하였고, 이는 연신 공정으로 제조된 광학용 필름이 연신 이력이 완화되면서 급격하게 수축하기 시작하는 온도를 의미한다. 구체적으로, 광학용 필름에 온도를 가하였을 때, 온도가 증가함에 따라 팽창 후 수축이 시작되는 온도를 의미한다. 종래에는 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 열적 치수 안정성을 개선하기 위하여 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 내에 고리 구조를 도입하는 방법이 있으나, 제조 공정이 복잡하고, 원료의 단가가 높아질 뿐만 아니라, 보다 고온에서 가공하여야 하는 문제가 있었다. 그러나, 본 발명에서는 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트가 고리 구조가 아닌 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 1 내지 5 중량 ¾> 포함하고, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 중량평균분자량이 120 , 000 내지 150 , 000이고, 또한 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 후술할 바와 같은 조건으로 연신 공정을 수행할 경우, 이를 이용하여 제조된 광학용 필름의 TTS가 100 °C 내지 120°C로 광학용 필름용으로 우수하게 나타남을 확인하였다. 이하,. 본 발명을 보다 상세히 설명한다. 본 발명에서 사용하는 용어 "폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 (Poly(methyl methacryl ate) ; PMMA) "는, 메틸 메타크릴레이트 (Methyl methacryl ate , MMA)를 단량체로 하는 중합체를 의미하며, 특히 본 발명에서는 그 말단에 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 1 내지 5 중량 % 포함하는 것을 의미한다. 상기 메틸 아크릴레이트는 공중합체의 분해를 억제하고 유리전이온도를 조절하는 역할을 하며, 이는 TTS의 물성에도 영향을 미친다. 또한, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트는 고리 구조의 단량체를 사용하지 않기 때문에, 고분자의 화학 구조 내에 고리 구조를 가지지 않는다. 바람직하게는, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트는 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 1.5 중량 % 이상, 또는 2.0 중량 이상; 및 4.5 중량 ¾> 이하, 4.0 중량 % 이하, 3.5 중량 % 이하, 또는 3.0 중량 % 이하로 포함한다. 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트는 메¾ 메타크릴레이트 외에 메틸 아크릴레이트가 사용되는 점을 제외하고는 공지의 방법으로 제조할 수 있으며, 예를 들어 유화 중합법, 유화 -현탁 중합법, 현탁 중합법 등의 방법으로 제조될 수 있다. 또한, 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 말단에 도입하기 위하여, 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 먼저 중합한 후 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 중합할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 중량평균분자량은 120 , 000 내지 160 , 000이며, 보다 바람직하게는 110 , 000 내지 140 , 000이다. 상기 중량평균분자량이 120 , 000 미만인 경우에는 광학용 필름으로 제조하였을 때 기계적 물성이 저하되는 문제가 있고, 상기 중량평균분자량이 160 , 000 초과인 경우에는 용융 압출이 어렵다는 문제가 있다. 또한, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도가 100°C 내지 120 °C인 것이 바람직하다. 상기 유리전이온도가 100 °C 미만인 경우에는 광학용 필름으로 제조하였을 때 열적 치수 안정성이 떨어지는 문제가 있다. 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도가 10rc 이상, 102 °C 이상, 103 °C 이상, 104 °C 이상, 105 °C 아상, 106 °C 이상, 107 °C 이상, 108 °C 이상, 109 °C 이상, 또는 110°C 이상이고; 119°C이하, 118°C이하, lire이하, 또는 116 °C이하이다. 또한, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 수지 조성물은 필요에 따라 당해 기술 분야에서 일반적으로 사용하는 다양한 첨가제들, 예를 들면 산화방지제, UV 흡수제, 열 안정제 등을 추가로 포함할 수 있다. 이때 상기 첨가제들은 연신 공정을 통해 제조된 광학용 필름의 물성을 해치지 않는 범위 내에서 적절한 함량으로 포함되어야 하며, 분자량 2 , 000 이하의 저분자량 첨가제 물질은 상기 수지 조성물 100 중량 )에 대하여 2중량 % 이하로 포함하는 것이 바람직하다. 본 발명에서 사용하는 용어 "광학용 필름"이란, 상술한 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 연신하여 제조된 필름을 의미한다. 특히, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은, 상술한 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 MD 방향으로 1.5배 내지 2.5배 및 TD 방향으로 1.5배 내지 3.5배의 2축 연신하는 단계를 포함하는 제조방법으로 제조된다. 상기 연신은 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 분자를 정렬하는 것으로, 연신 정도에 따라 제조되는 광학용 필름의 특성에 영향을 미친다. 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 MD 방향으로 1.6배 이상, 또는 1.7배 이상; 및 2.4배 이하, 2.3배 이하, 2.2배 이하, 2. 1배 이하, 또는 2.0배 이하로 연신한다. 또한, 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 TD 방향으로 2.0배 이상, 2. 1배 이상, 2.2배 이상, 2.3배 이상, 또는 2.4배 이상; 및 3.4 배 이하, 3.3배 이하, 3.2배 이하, 또는 3. 1배 이하가 바람직하다. 이에 본 발명에서는 상술한 조건으로 연신함으로써 광학용 필름의 열적 치수 안정성, 즉 광학용 필름의 TTS가 100 °C 내지 120 °C로 우수한 특성을 나타내게 한다. 보다 바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은, 상술한 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 MD 방향 및 TD 방향으로 2축 연신함에 있어서, 상기 MD 방향의 연신 배율과 TD 방향의 연신 배율의 비 (TD 연신 배율 /MD 연신 배율)는 1.05 이상 1.70 이하인 것이 바람직하다. 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 MD 방향의 연신 배율과 TD 방향의 연신 배율의 비 (TD 연신 배율 /MD 연신 배율)는 1. 1 이상 1.7 이하, 1.2 이상 1 /7 이하, 또는 1.3 이상 1.7 이하이다. 또한, 상기 연신 온도는 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도 보다 10°C 내지 30°C 높은 은도에서 수행하는 것이 바람직하다. 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 연신 온도는 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전아은도 보다 ire 내지 29 °C 높은 은도, 12 °C 내지 28 °C 높은 온도, 13 °C 내지 27°C 높은 온도, 14 °C 내지 26°C 높은 온도, 또는 15 °C 내지 25 °C 높은 온도에서 수행한다. 또한, 상기 광학용 필름은 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 수지의 중량평균분자량 보다 약간 떨어지는 경향이 있으며, 중량평균분자량을 기준으로 0. 1 내지 3 ) 감소할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 수지의 중량평균분자량이 130, 000인 경우, 압출 연신 후 광학용 필름의 중량평균분자량은 128 , 000으로 약 1.7% 소하였다. 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은 MD 방향 및 TD 방향의 TTS 값이 각각
100 °C 내지 120°C이다. TTS(Temperature of Thermal Shr inkage)는 연신 공정으로 제조된 광학용 필름이 연신이 풀리면서 급격하게 수축하기 시작하는 온도를 의미하는 것으로, 연신 방향인 MD 방향 및 TD 방향으로 측정할 수 있다. 후술할 실시예와 같이 80 X 4.5 mm의 광학용 필름을 TMA 측정 장비를 이용하여 대기 조건 하에 온도를 ,가하여 MD 방향 및 TD 방향으로 각각 팽창 후 수축이 시작되는 온도를 TTS 값으로 한다. 바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은 MD 방향의 값이, lore 이상, 102 °C 이상, 103 °C 이상, 또는 104 °C 이상이고; 115°C 이하, 114°C 이하, 113°C 이하, 112°C 이하, 111°C 이하, 또는 110°C 이하이다. 또한 바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은 TD 방향의 TTS 값이, lore 이상, 102°C 이상, 또는 103°C 이상이고; 115°C 이하, 114°C 이하, 113 °C 이하, 112 °C 이하, lire 이하, 또는 110°C 이하이다. 바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은, 상기 MD 방향의 TTS 및 TD 방향의 TTS 차이가 10°C 이하이다. 상기 차이가 10°C 초과인 경우에는, 광학용 필름의 이방성이 높아 광학 필름 용도로 바람직하지 않다. 또한, 이는 연신 가공에 의하여 고분자 사슬의 배향이 MD 및 TD 방향으로 균형 있게 되지 않고 어느 한쪽 방향으로 치우쳐 진 것을 의미하기 때문에, 광학용 필름 물성 측면에서도 바람직하지 않다. 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 MD 방향의 및 TD 방향의 TTS 차이가 9°C 이하, 8°C 이하, 7°C 이하, 또는 6°C 이하이다. 또한 바람직하게는, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도와, 상기 MD 방향의 TTS 및 TD 방향의 TTS 차이가 각각 15 °C 이하이다. 상기 차이가 15°C 초과인 경우에는 TTS 값이 너무 낮아 고온의 내구성 평가 온도 범위에서 필름이 수축하는 등의 치수 변화가 심하게 발생하기 때문에 바람직하지 않다. 보다 바람직하게는, 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도와, 상기 MD 방향의 TTS 차이가, 14°C 이하, 13°C 이하, 12°C 이하, ire 이하, 또는 icrc 이하이다. 또한 보다 바람직하게는 상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도와, 상기 TD 방향의 TTS 차이가, 14°C 이하, 13 °C 이하, 또는 12 °C 이하이다. 상기 각각의 차이가 적을수록 TTS가 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 유리전이온도에 근접하여 고온 내구성이 향상된다. 한편, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름의 두께는 필요에 따라 적절히 조절할 수 있으며, 일례로 10 urn 내지 200 urn인 것이 바람직하다. 또한, 필요에 따라 산화방지제, UV 흡수제, 열 안정제 등을 포함할 수 있다. 특히, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은 UV 흡수제를 포함하고, 파장 380 nm에서의 UV투과도 값이 0%초과 20% 이하일 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명은 상기 광학용 필름을 포함하는 편광판을 제공한다. 상술한 바와 같이 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은 편광판의 보호 필름으로 사용할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 편광판의 기계적 특성을 보완하고, 외부 환경, 예를 들어 온도나 습도의 영향으로부터 편광판을 보호할 수 있다.
【발명의 효과】
상술한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 광학용 필름은, 고리 구조의 단량체를 포함하지 않는 폴리메틸메타크릴레트를 사용하면서도 치수 안정성 및 광학적 특성이 우수하여, 편광판의 보호 필름으로 유용하게 사용할 수 있다.
【발명을 실시하기 위한 구체적인 내용】
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실시예를 제시한다. 그러나 하기의 실시예는 본 발명을 보다 쉽게 이해하기 위하여 제공되는 것일 뿐, 이에 의해 본 발명의 내용이 한정되는 것은 아니다. 실시예 1
5리터 반웅기에, 메틸 메타크릴레이트 97.5 wt% 및 메틸 아크릴레이트 2.5. %의 단량체 흔합물 1000 g을 넣고, 증류수 2000 g , 5% 폴리비닐알코올 용액 8.4 g(P0VAL PVA217 , kuraray 사) , 및 분산 조력제로 붕산 0. 1 g을 투입하고 용해하였다. 여기에, 사슬이동제로 n-옥틸머캡탄 2.5 g , 중합개시제로 2,2 ' -아조비스이소부티로니트릴 1.5 g을 투입하고 400 rpm으로 교반하면서 수상에 분산시켜 현탁액을 제조하였다. 80°C로 승온하여 90분 동안 중합시킨 후, 30°C로 넁각시켰다. 얻어진 비드를 증류수로 세척 및 탈수한 후에 건조하여 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 수지를 제조하였다. 상기 제조된 수지의 유리전이온도와 분자량을 측정한 결과, 유리전이온도 115°C , 중량평균분자량 120 , 000이었다. 여기에, UV 흡수제 (Tinuvin 360, BASF 사)를 고형분 기준으로 1.5 wt , 산화방지제 ( Irganox 1010, BASF 사)를 고형분 기준으로 1.5 %를 컴파운딩하여 최종적인 수지 조성물을 제조하였다. 이를 265°C에서 용융시키고 T-Die를 통하여 시트 형태로 압출 캐스팅한 후, Tg+15°C인 130°C에서 MD 방향으로 1.8배 및 TD 방향으로 2.5배로 2축 연신하여 광학용 필름을 제조하였다. 실시예 2
MD 방향으로 1.8배 및 TD 방향으로 3.0배로 2축 연신하는 것을 제외하고, 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 광학용 필름을 제조하였다. 실시예 3

상기 실시예 및 비교예에서 제조한 광학용 필름을 이용하여 하기와 같이 물성을 측정하였다.
1) TTS(Temperature of Thermal Shrinkage): 광학용 필름을 80 x 4.5 mm의 치수로 샘플을 제조한 후, TA TMA(Q400) 장비를 이용하여 측정하였다. 구체적으로, 대기 조건 하에, 승온 속도 10°C/min 및 하중 0.02 N의 조건으로 온도를 가하였을 때, 상기 샘플이 MD 및 TD 방향으로 각각 팽창 후 수축이 시작되는 변곡점의 온도 (접선 기을기가 0)를 TTS 값으로 하였다.
2) 치수변화 (MD/TD): 광학용 필름을 20 X 200 mm의 치수로 샘플을 제조한 후ᅳ 85°C의 오븐에서 100시간 체류 후 초기 길이 대비 변화한 길이를 측정하였다. 변화한 길이를 초기 길이 대비 백분율 값을 치수 변화 값으로 하였다.
3) POL Bending (MD/TD): 광학용 필름을 PVA 편광 소자의 보호 필름으로 하고, 반대면에서는 COP 필름을 보호 필름으로 하여 편광판을 제조하였다. 편광판을 MD 및 TD 방향으로 140 X 20 隱로 제단한 후 COP 보호 필름 면에 PSA를 라미네이션하여 C0P 보호 필름 면을 150 X 30 mm 크기의 0.7 t glass에 라미네이션 하였다. Glass에 라미네이션한 편광판을 80 °C 오븐에서 24시간 동안 체륭시킨 다음, 상은에서 24시간 동안 aging 처리하였다. 이후 휘어진 편광판의 한쪽을 지면에 고정시킨 후, 들떠 있는 편광판의 다른 쪽 높이를 측정하여 이를 Pol Bending 값으로 하였다.
상기 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.

상기 광학용 필름은 UV 흡수제를 포함하고, 파장 380 nm에서의 UV 투과도 값이 0%초과 20% 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는,

폴리메틸메타크릴레이트를 MD 방향으로 1.5배 내지 2.5배 및 TD 방향으로 1.5배 내지 3.5배의 2축 연신하는 단계를 포함하고,
상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트는 메틸 아크릴레이트 단량체를 1 내지 5 중량 %포함하고,
상기 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트의 증량평균분자량은 120 , 000 내지 160, 000인,
