Description
본 발명은 열전도성 수지 조성물 및 이를 포함하는 복합체에 관한 것이다. 보다 구체적으로 본 발명은 우수한 열전도성과 도금 밀착력 및 기계적 물성을 가지며, 레이저 직접 구조화 공정이 가능한 열전도성 수지 조성물 및 이를 포함하는 복합체에 관한 것이다.
열가소성 수지 조성물로부터 형성되는 성형품 표면의 적어도 일부에 금속층을 도금하기 위하여, 레이저 직접 구조화 공정(laser direct structuring process: LDS process)이 사용될 수 있다. 레이저 직접 구조화 공정은, 도금 단계 이전에 수행되는 공정으로서, 성형품 표면의 도금 대상 영역에 레이저를 조사함으로써, 성형품 표면의 도금 대상 영역을 개질하여 도금에 적합한 성질을 갖도록 하는 공정을 의미한다. 이를 위하여, 성형품을 제조하기 위한 열전도성 수지 조성물은 레이저에 의하여 금속 핵을 형성할 수 있는 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제를 함유하여야 한다. 상기 첨가제는 레이저를 받으면 분해되면서 금속 핵을 생성한다. 또한, 레이저가 조사된 영역은 거칠어진 표면을 갖게 된다. 이러한 금속 핵 및 표면 거칠기로 인하여, 레이저로 개질된 영역은 도금에 적합하게 된다.
레이저 직접 구조화 공정을 사용하면, 성형품의 3차원 형상 위에 전기/전자 회로를 빠르고 경제적으로 형성할 수 있다. 구체적인 예를 들면, 레이저 직접 구조화 공정은, 휴대용 전자기기의 안테나, RFID(radio frequency identification) 안테나 등의 제조에 활용될 수 있다.
최근 제품의 경량화, 박막화 추세에 따라, 우수한 기계적 물성 및 성형 가공성(외관 특성)을 갖는 열전도성 수지 조성물이 요구되고 있다. 또한, 휴대용 전자기기 등의 미세 패턴(도금 영역)의 두께가 얇아지면서, 도금 박리 현상이 발생할 우려가 있다.
따라서, 우수한 열전도성과 도금 밀착력 및 기계적 물성을 가지며, 레이저 직접 구조화 공정이 적합한 수지 조성물의 개발이 필요한 실정이다.
본 발명의 배경기술은 대한민국 공개특허 10-2011-0018319호 등에 개시되어 있다.
본 발명의 목적은 우수한 열전도성과 도금 밀착력 및 기계적 물성을 갖는 열전도성 수지 조성물을 제공하기 위한 것이다.
본 발명의 다른 목적은 전기전도도가 낮으면서 열전도성이 높아 신뢰성이 우수하며, 모바일 기기 부품으로 사용하기에 적합한 열전도성 수지 조성물을 제공하기 위한 것이다.
본 발명의 상기 및 기타의 목적들은 하기 설명되는 본 발명에 의하여 모두 달성될 수 있다.
본 발명의 하나의 관점은 열전도성 수지 조성물에 관한 것이다. 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물은 폴리카보네이트 수지 약 10 중량% 내지 50 약 중량%; 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지 약 1 중량% 내지 약 10 중량%; 유리전이온도 저하제 약 1 중량% 내지 약 15 중량%; 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제 약 5 중량% 내지 약 20 중량%; 평균입경(D50)이 10 ㎛ 이상인 보론 나이트라이드 약 10 중량% 내지 약 35 중량%; 및 단면이 비원형인 유리섬유 약 10 중량% 내지 약 30 중량%를 포함한다.

(A) 폴리카보네이트 수지
본 발명에 일 구체예에 따른 폴리카보네이트 수지로는 통상의 열전도성 수지 조성물에 사용되는 폴리카보네이트 수지를 사용할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 디페놀류(방향족 디올 화합물)를 포스겐, 할로겐 포르메이트, 탄산 디에스테르 등의 카보네이트 전구체와 반응시킴으로써 제조되는 방향족 폴리카보네이트 수지를 사용할 수 있다.

본 발명의 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지는 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제와 함께 조합되어, 열전도성 수지 조성물의 강성 등은 유지시키면서, 도금 밀착력 및 외관 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다.

상기 "치환"은 C1-C10 알킬, 할로겐, 니트로, 시아노, 히드록시, 아미노, C6-C10 아릴, C3-C10 시클로알킬, C3-C10 헤테로시클로알킬 및 C4-C10 헤테로아릴로부터 선택된 하나 이상이 치환된 것을 의미한다.

상기 화학식 4에서, R11, R21, R31, R41, R51 및 R61은 각각 독립적으로 수소, 메틸, 에틸, 프로필, 이소프로필, 부틸, 펜틸, 헥실, 페닐, 하이드록시 페닐 또는 벤질이다.
구체예에서, 상기 유리전이온도 저하제는 열전도성 수지 조성물 중 약 1 중량% 내지 약 15 중량%, 구체적으로, 약 3 중량% 내지 약 10 중량%, 예를 들면, 3 중량%, 4 중량%, 5 중량%, 6 중량%, 7 중량%, 8 중량%, 9 중량%, 10 중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 열전도성 수지 조성물의 도금 밀착력을 더욱 향상시킬 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지 및 상기 유리전이온도 저하제의 중량비는 약 1 : 2 내지 약 1 : 5, 예를 들면 1:2, 1:2.5, 1:3, 1:3.5, 1:4, 1:4.5, 1:5일 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 더욱 우수한 도금 밀착력을 확보할 수 있다.
(D) 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제
본 발명의 일 구체예에 따른 레이저 직접 구조화(laser directed structuring; LDS)용 첨가제는 레이저에 의해 금속 핵을 형성할 수 있는 것으로서, 통상의 레이저 직접 구조화용 수지 조성물에 사용되는 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제를 사용할 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제는 중금속 복합 산화물 스피넬(heavy metal oxide spinel) 및/또는 구리염(copper salt)을 포함할 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 중금속 복합 산화물 스피넬은 하기 화학식 5로 표시될 수 있다.

상기 화학식 5에서, A는 원자가 2의 금속 양이온, 예를 들면 마그네슘, 구리, 코발트, 아연, 주석, 철, 망간, 니켈, 이들의 조합 등일 수 있고, B는 원자가 3의 금속 양이온, 예를 들면 망간, 니켈, 구리, 코발트, 주석, 티타늄, 철, 알루미늄, 크롬, 이들의 조합 등일 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제로는 구리 철 스피넬, 구리 마그네슘 알루미늄 산화물, 구리 크롬 망간 혼합 산화물, 구리 망간 철 혼합 산화물(임의로 각 경우에 산소가 결합되어 있을 수 있음), 구리 염 및 산화물, 예를 들면 산화구리(I), 산화구리(II), 인산구리, 황산구리, 티오시안산제1구리 및 금속 착체 화합물, 구리, 주석, 니켈, 코발트, 은 및 팔라듐의 킬레이트 화합물, 또는 이러한 시스템의 혼합물 및/또는 구리 크롬 망간 혼합 산화물, 구리 망간 철 혼합 산화물, 구리 크롬 산화물, 아연 철 산화물, 코발트 크롬 산화물, 코발트 알루미늄 산화물, 마그네슘 알루미늄 산화물 및 이들의 혼합물 및/또는 표면 처리 형태 및/또는 산소가 결합된 형태 등을 예시할 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 구리 히드록사이드 포스페이트, 구리 크롬 옥사이드 스피넬, 인산구리, 황산구리, 티오시안산제1구리, 이들의 조합 등을 사용할 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제는 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물 중 약 5 중량% 내지 약 20 중량%, 구체적으로 약 5 중량% 내지 약 10 중량%, 예를 들면, 5 중량%, 6 중량%, 7 중량%, 8 중량%, 9 중량%, 10 중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 열전도성 수지 조성물의 도금 밀착력, 모듈러스, 표면 경도, 외관 특성 등이 우수할 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지 및 상기 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제의 중량비는 약 1 : 2 내지 약 1 : 6, 예를 들면 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, 1:6일 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 열전도성 수지 조성물의 도금 밀착력 등이 더 우수할 수 있다.
(E) 보론 나이트라이드
본 발명의 보론 나이트라이드는 평균입경(D50)이 약 10 ㎛ 이상, 바람직하게는 평균입경(D50)이 약 10 ㎛ 내지 약 50 ㎛, 예를 들면 10 ㎛, 15 ㎛, 20 ㎛, 25 ㎛, 30 ㎛, 35 ㎛, 40 ㎛, 45 ㎛, 50 ㎛인 보론 나이트라이드가 사용될 수 있다. 만일 평균입경(D50)이 약 10 ㎛ 미만인 보론 나이트라이드를 적용할 경우 열전도도가 저하되어 본 발명의 목적을 달성할 수 없다.
구체예에서 상기 보론 나이트라이드는 헥사고날 구조를 갖는 것이 더욱 뛰어난 열전도성을 부여할 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 보론 나이트라이드는 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물 중 약 10 중량% 내지 약 35 중량%, 구체적으로 약 10 중량% 내지 약 30 중량%, 예를 들면, 10 중량%, 11 중량%, 12 중량%, 13 중량%, 14 중량%, 15 중량%, 16 중량%, 17 중량%, 18 중량%, 19 중량%, 20 중량%, 21 중량%, 22 중량%, 23 중량%, 24 중량%, 25 중량%, 26 중량%, 27 중량%, 28 중량%, 29 중량%, 30 중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 열전도성 수지 조성물의 열전도성과 도금 밀착력 및 모듈러스가 우수할 수 있다.
상기 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지 및 상기 보론 나이트라이드의 중량비는 약 1 : 6 내지 약 1 : 15, 예를 들면 1:6, 1:7, 1:8, 1:9, 1:10, 1:11, 1:12, 1:13, 1:14, 1:15 일 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 더욱 우수한 열전도성, 도금 밀착력 및 모듈러스를 확보할 수 있다.
또한 상기 유리전이온도 저하제 및 상기 보론 나이트라이드의 중량비는 약 1 : 2 내지 약 1 : 5, 예를 들면 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5일 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 더욱 우수한 도금 밀착력을 갖는다.
(F) 유리섬유
본 발명의 유리섬유는 단면이 비원형인 유리섬유가 사용된다. 이와 같이 단면이 비원형인 유리섬유를 적용함으로써, 열전도성 수지 조성물의 내충격성, 모듈러스 등 기계적 물성과 함께 열전도성을 더욱 향상시킬 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 유리섬유는 단면 어스펙트비(단면의 장경/단면의 단경)가 약 1.5 내지 약 10, 예를 들면, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10이고, 가공 전 길이가 약 2 mm 내지 약 5 mm, 예를 들면, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm인 판상 단면의 유리섬유일 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 열전도성 수지 조성물의 외관 특성 등 다른 물성의 저하 없이, 기계적 물성과 함께 열전도성을 더욱 향상시킬 수 있다.
상기 유리섬유는 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물 중 약 10 중량% 내지 약 30 중량%, 구체적으로 약 15 중량% 내지 약 30 중량%, 예를 들면, 15 중량%, 16 중량%, 17 중량%, 18 중량%, 19 중량%, 20 중량%, 21 중량%, 22 중량%, 23 중량%, 24 중량%, 25 중량%, 26 중량%, 27 중량%, 28 중량%, 29 중량%, 30 중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 범위에서 열전도성 수지 조성물의 모듈러스와 성형성을 확보할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 구체예에 따른 열전도성 수지 조성물은 필요에 따라, 본 발명의 효과를 저해하지 않는 범위에서, 열전도성 수지 조성물에 통상적으로 사용되는 임의의 첨가제를 더욱 첨가할 수 있다. 상기 첨가제로는 활제, 착색제, 안정화제, 산화방지제, 대전방지제, 유동개선제 등을 예시할 수 있으나, 이에 제한되지 않는다. 상기 첨가제 사용 시, 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물 100 중량부에 대하여, 약 0.01 중량부 내지 약 20 중량부, 예를 들면 0.01 중량부, 0.05 중량부, 0.1 중량부, 0.5 중량부, 1 중량부, 2 중량부, 3 중량부, 4 중량부, 5 중량부, 6 중량부, 7 중량부, 8 중량부, 9 중량부, 10 중량부, 11 중량부, 12 중량부, 13 중량부, 14 중량부, 15 중량부, 16 중량부, 17 중량부, 18 중량부, 19 중량부, 20 중량부로 포함될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 구체예에 따른 열전도성 수지 조성물은 상기 구성 성분을 혼합하고, 통상의 이축 압출기를 사용하여, 약 200℃ 내지 약 300℃, 예를 들면 약 250℃ 내지 약 280℃에서 용융 압출한 펠렛 형태일 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물은 하기 식 1 및 2를 만족할 수 있다:

상기 식 1에서 Ct 는 ASTM E1461 기준으로 측정한 열전도도이다.

상기 식 2에서, FM은 ASTM D790에 의거하여 2.8mm/min 조건으로 측정한 굴곡 모듈러스 이다.
상기 열전도성 수지 조성물을 이용하여, 사출 성형, 이중 사출 성형, 블로우 성형, 압출 성형, 열 성형 등의 성형 방법으로 성형품을 제조할 수 있다. 상기 성형품은 본 발명이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자에 의해 용이하게 형성될 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 관점은 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물을 포함하는 복합체에 관한 것이다.
구체예에서 상기 복합체는 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물로부터 형성된 수지층; 및 상기 수지층의 적어도 하나의 면에 형성된 금속층을 포함한다.
도 1은 본 발명의 일 구체예에 따른 복합체의 단면을 개략적으로 도시한 것이다. 도면에서 발명을 구성하는 구성요소들의 크기는 명세서의 명확성을 위하여 과장되어 기술된 것일 뿐, 그에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 본 발명의 복합체는 수지층(10) 및 상기 수지층의 적어도 하나의 면에 형성된 금속층(20)을 포함한다. 상기 금속층(20)은 레이저 직접 구조화 공정 후 도금에 의해 형성될 수 있다.
상기 복합체는 상기 열전도성 수지 조성물을 사용하여 사출 성형 등의 방법으로 성형품을 제조하고; 상기 성형품 표면의 특정 영역에 레이저를 조사하고; 조사된 영역을 금속화(도금)하여 금속층을 형성함으로써 제조될 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 레이저 조사에 의해 열전도성 수지 조성물에 포함된 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제가 분해되면서 금속 핵을 생성한다. 또한, 레이저가 조사된 영역은 도금에 적합한 표면 거칠기를 갖게 된다. 상기 레이저의 파장은 248 nm, 308 nm, 355 nm, 532 nm, 1,064 nm 또는 10,600 nm일 수 있다.
구체예에서, 상기 금속화는 통상의 도금 공정을 통해 수행될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 레이저가 조사된 성형품을 하나 이상의 무전해 도금조에 담그는 것에 의해 성형품 표면의 레이저 조사된 영역 상에 금속층 (전기적 전도성 경로)를 형성시킬 수 있다. 상기 무전해 도금 공정의 비제한적인 예로는 구리 도금 공정, 금 도금 공정, 니켈 도금 공정, 은 도금, 아연 도금, 주석 도금 등을 예시할 수 있다.
이하, 실시예를 통하여 본 발명을 보다 구체적으로 설명하고자 하나, 이러한 실시예들은 단지 설명의 목적을 위한 것으로, 본 발명을 제한하는 것으로 해석되어서는 안 된다.
실시예
이하, 실시예 및 비교예에서 사용된 각 성분의 사양은 다음과 같다.
(A) 폴리카보네이트 수지
중량평균분자량이 23,000 g/mol인 비스페놀-A계 폴리카보네이트 수지를 사용하였다.
(B) 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지
(B1) 1,4-시클로헥산디메탄올(CHDM)을 포함하는 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지(SK Chemicals社 제조, 상품명: Skygreen® S2008)를 사용하였다.
(C) 유리전이온도 저하제
페녹시 포스파젠 올리고머(Fushimi Pharmaceutical社 제조, 상품명: Rabitle® FP-110)를 사용하였다.
(D) 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제
CuCr2O4(Shepherd Color社 제조, 상품명: Black 1G)를 사용하였다.
(E) 보론 나이트라이드
(E1) 평균입경(D50)이 15 ㎛ 인 보론 나이트라이드(Momentive社 제조, 상품명: CF-600)를 사용하였다.
(E2) 평균입경(D50)이 7.5 ㎛ 인 보론 나이트라이드(3M社 제조, 상품명: CFP075)를 사용하였다.
(F) 유리섬유
(F1) 단면이 판상형이고 어스펙트비가 2 내지 4 인 유리 섬유(Nittobo社 제조, 상품명: CSG 3PA-832)를 사용하였다.
(F2) 단면이 원형인 유리 섬유(Owens Corning社 제조, 상품명: 183F-4P)를 사용하였다.
실시예 1 내지 6 및 비교예 1 내지 12
상기 각 구성 성분을 하기 표 1 내지 3에 기재된 바와 같은 함량으로 첨가한 후, L/D=36, 직경 45 mm인 이축 압출기를 사용하여, 바렐(barrel) 온도 280℃ 에서 250rpm의 스크류 회전 속도, 25rpm의 자가공급 속도의 조건 하에서 압출하여 펠렛(pellet) 형태의 열전도성 수지 조성물을 제조하였다. 제조된 펠렛은 100℃에서 4시간 이상 건조 후, 사출성형하여 시편을 제조하였다. 제조된 시편에 대하여 24 시간 동안 에이징 한 후, 하기의 방법으로 물성을 평가하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 1 내지 표 3에 나타내었다.
물성 측정 방법
(1) 열전도도(W/mK): ASTM E1461에 의거하여 in-plane 열전도도를 측정하였다.
(2) 굴곡 모듈러스(GPa): 6.4 mm 두께의 시편에 대하여 ASTM D790에 의거하여 2.8mm/min 조건으로 측정하였다.
(3) 도금 밀착력(개): 시편에 대해 3cm x 3㎝ 면적으로 도금한 후, 항온항습(85℃/85%) 조건에서 72 시간 에이징한 다음, 가로, 세로 각 5mm 간격으로 cross-cut하여 36개의 모눈격자를 각인하였다. 이후 3M tape으로 도금된 부분을 탈착 후 남아있는 모눈격자 개수로 도금 밀착력을 측정하였다.

상기 표 1의 결과로부터, 본 발명의 열전도성 수지 조성물은 열전도성, 굴곡 모듈러스 및 도금 밀착력이 모두 우수함을 알 수 있다. 이에 비해, 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지와 유리전이온도 저하제를 적용하지 않은 비교예 1-4는 열전도도나 굴곡 모듈러스가 저하된 것을 할 수 있으며, 비교예 1은 도금이 불가능하였다. 또한 유리섬유를 지나치게 적게 적용한 비교예 5는 굴곡 모듈러스가 저하되었으며, 레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제를 본 발명의 범위 미만으로 적용한 비교예 6은 도금이 불가능하였다. 평균입경이 본 발명의 범위를 벗어난 보론 나이트라이드를 적용한 비교예 7은 열전도도가 현저하게 저하된 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 단면이 원형인 유리섬유를 적용한 비교예 8은 도금 밀착력이 저하된 것을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 단면이 비원형인 유리섬유를 적용하더라도 본 발명의 범위를 벗어나 과량을 적용한 비교예 9는 압출이 불가능하였다. 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지나 유리전이온도 저하제를 과량 적용한 비교예 10 및 11은 압출이 불가능하였으며, 보론 나이트라이드를 과량 적용한 비교예 12는 도금 밀착력이 저하된 것을 알 수 있다.
본 발명의 단순한 변형 내지 변경은 이 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자에 의하여 용이하게 실시될 수 있으며, 이러한 변형이나 변경은 모두 본 발명의 영역에 포함되는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

- 폴리카보네이트 수지 약 10 중량% 내지 약 50 중량%;글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지 약 1 중량% 내지 약 10 중량%;유리전이온도 저하제 약 1 중량% 내지 약 15 중량%;레이저 직접 구조화용 첨가제 약 5 중량% 내지 약 20 중량%;평균입경(D50)이 약 10 ㎛ 이상인 보론 나이트라이드 약 10 중량% 내지 약 35 중량%; 및단면이 비원형인 유리섬유 약 10 중량% 내지 약 30 중량%;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 열전도성 수지 조성물.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 글리콜 변성 폴리에스테르 수지는 전체 디올 성분 중 1,4-시클로헥산디메탄올(CHDM)의 함량이 약 30 몰% 내지 약 100 몰%인 것을 특징으로 하는 열전도성 수지 조성물.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 유리전이온도 저하제는 페녹시 포스파젠 올리고머를 포함하는 열전도성 수지 조성물.
