본 발명은 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차전지에 관한 것으로, 더욱 자세하게는 2종의 탄소계 입자와 실리콘계 입자를 함께 포함하여 실리콘계 입자 사용시 발생할 수 있는 수명 저하를 개선한 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차전지에 관한 것이다.
모바일 기기에 대한 기술 개발과 수요가 증가함에 따라 에너지원으로서의 이차전지에 대한 수요가 급격히 증가하고 있고, 그러한 이차전지 중에서도 높은 에너지 밀도와 작동 전위를 나타내고, 사이클 수명이 길며, 자기방전율이 낮은 리튬 이차전지가 상용화되어 널리 사용되고 있다.
리튬 이차전지는 일반적으로 양극 활물질을 포함하는 양극, 음극 활물질을 포함하는 음극, 분리막 및 전해질로 구성되며 리튬 이온의 삽입-탈리(intercalation-decalation)에 의해 충전 및 방전이 이루어지는 이차전지이다. 리튬 이차전지는 에너지 밀도(energy density)가 높고, 기전력이 크며 고용량을 발휘할 수 있는 장점을 가지므로 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다.
리튬 이차 전지의 양극을 구성하는 양극 활물질로서는 LiCoO2, LiMnO2, LiMn2O4 또는 LiNiO2와 같은 금속 산화물이 이용되고 있으며, 음극을 구성하는 음극 활물질로서는 금속 리튬(metal lithium), 흑연(graphite) 또는 활성탄(activated carbon) 등의 탄소계 물질(carbon based meterial), 또는 산화실리콘(SiOx) 등의 물질이 사용되고 있다. 상기 음극 활물질 중에서도 초기에는 금속 리튬이 주로 사용되었으나 충전 및 방전 사이클이 진행됨에 따라 금속 리튬 표면에 리튬 원자가 성장하여 분리막을 손상시켜 전지를 파손시키는 현상이 발생하여 최근에는 탄소계 물질이 주로 사용되고 있다.
그러나, 탄소계 물질의 경우 이론 용량이 약 400 mAh/g에 불과하여 용량이 작다는 단점을 지니고 있다.
따라서, 음극 활물질로서 높은 이론 용량(4,200 mAh/g)을 가지는 실리콘(silicon, Si)을 이용하여 상기 탄소계 물질을 대체하려는 다양한 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 실리콘에 리튬이 삽입되는 경우의 반응식은 다음과 같다:

이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해, 실리콘계 입자 표면에 탄소 코팅층을 형성시키는 방법이 개발되었다. 그러나 상기 방법에 의하여도 전지의 충방전 사이클이 지속될수록 부피 제어가 원활하지 않아 효율이 낮아지는 문제가 있다. 대한민국 공개특허공보 제10-2016-0149862호의 경우, 탄소 코팅층 상에 고분자 복합체를 추가로 배치하여 부피 변화를 더욱 제어하는 것을 개시하고 있다.
그러나 고분자 복합체 사용에 따르더라도 부피 변화의 제어가 용이하지 않으며, 활물질의 도전성이 저하되어 저항이 증가하고 전지의 용량 유지율이 저하되는 문제가 발생한다.
따라서, 실리콘계 입자를 사용하면서도 수명 저하 및 성능 저하 문제를 해결할 수 있는 음극 활물질의 개발이 요구되고 있다.
본 발명의 해결하고자 하는 과제는, 실리콘계 입자를 포함하여 높은 에너지 밀도를 가지면서도 실리콘계 입자의 사용에 따른 수명 저하 문제를 해결할 수 있는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 다른 해결하고자 하는 과제는, 상기 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지용 음극 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차전지를 제공하는 것이다.
상기 과제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 발명은 전체 음극 활물질 100 중량부에 대하여, 5 중량부 내지 20 중량부의 제 1 탄소계 입자, 55 중량부 내지 90 중량부의 제 2 탄소계 입자, 및 1 중량부 내지 40 중량부의 실리콘계 입자를 포함하고,

본 발명의 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 제 1 탄소계 입자, 제 2 탄소계 입자 및 실리콘계 입자를 포함하며, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자, 제 2 탄소계 입자 및 실리콘계 입자를 전체 음극 활물질 100 중량부에 대하여, 각각 5 중량부 내지 20 중량부, 75 중량부 내지 90 중량부 및 1 중량부 내지 40 중량부 포함하는 것이다.
상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 1.5 m2/g 내지 4.5 m2/g이고, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 0.4 m2/g 내지 1.5 m2/g이며, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적보다 큰 것이다. 본 발명의 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 포함하는 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자 및 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적이 서로 다르고, 제 1 탄소계 입자의 비표면적이 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적보다 크다는 조건을 만족한다. 따라서, 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적이 1.5 m2/g인 경우, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 1.5 m2/g를 초과하는 값을 가진다.
본 발명의 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 전체 음극 활물질 100 중량부에 대하여 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자, 제 2 탄소계 입자 및 실리콘계 입자를 각각 5 중량부 내지 20 중량부, 55 중량부 내지 90 중량부, 및 3 중량부 내지 20 중량부 포함한다.
또한, 본 발명의 일례에 따른 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 전체 음극 활물질 100 중량부에 대하여 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자, 제 2 탄소계 입자 및 실리콘계 입자를 구체적으로 각각 7 중량부 내지 15 중량부, 73 중량부 내지 88 중량부, 및 5 중량부 내지 20 중량부 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자, 제 2 탄소계 입자 및 실리콘계 입자를 더욱 구체적으로 각각 9 중량부 내지 12 중량부, 81 중량부 내지 86 중량부, 및 5 중량부 내지 10 중량부 포함할 수 있다.
상기 제 1 탄소계 입자가 상기 함량에 비해 적을 경우 음극의 접착력이 저하될 수 있고, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자가 상기 함량에 비해 적을 경우 고율 충방전 특성, 사이클 특성 및 스웰링 특성이 저하될 수 있으며, 상기 실리콘계 입자가 상기 함량에 비해 적을 경우 용량 특성이 저하될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자가 상기 함량에 비해 많을 경우 고율 충방전 특성이 저하할 수 있고, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자가 상기 함량에 비해 많을 경우 음극의 접착력이 저하될 수 있으며, 상기 실리콘계 입자가 상기 함량에 비해 많을 경우 수명 특성 및 스웰링 특성이 저하될 수 있다.
본 발명의 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 실리콘계 입자와 함께 비표면적이 다른 2종의 탄소계 입자를 포함하며, 또한 상기 2종의 탄소계 입자와 실리콘계 입자를 상기 범위와 같은 일정한 중량 범위로 포함하므로, 음극 활물질로서 실리콘계 입자를 사용함에 따른 전지 용량의 증가 및 고충전 레이트 특성, 저온 특성을 향상 효과를 발휘할 수 있으면서도, 실리콘계 입자의 큰 부피변화에 의해 발생할 수 있는 음극 및 이차전지의 수명 저하 문제를 개선할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일례에 따른 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자 및 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 총 함량과 상기 실리콘계 입자의 함량이 60:40 내지 99:1, 구체적으로 80:20 내지 97:3, 더욱 구체적으로 90:10 내지 95:5일 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 비표면적이 상대적으로 큰 제 1 탄소계 입자와 비표면적이 상대적으로 작은 제 2 탄소계 입자를 함께 포함하므로, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자와 제 2 탄소계 입자가 상기 실리콘계 입자의 큰 부피변화에 의한 영향을 상쇄시킬 수 있고, 또한 비표면적이 상대적으로 큰 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 음극이 적절한 접착력을 나타낼 수 있는 접착력을 부여할 수 있으며, 비표면적이 상대적으로 작은 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 음극 활물질이 높은 초기 효율, 우수한 고율 충방전 특성, 사이클 특성 및 스웰링 특성을 나타내도록 할 수 있다.
상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 1.5 m2/g 내지 4.5 m2/g의 비표면적을 가지는 것이고, 구체적으로 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 1.5 m2/g 초과 4.5 m2/g 이하, 더욱 구체적으로 2.5 m2/g 내지 4 m2/g의 비표면적을 가질 수 있다. 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자가 상기 비표면적 범위를 가질 경우, 일정 수준 이상의 비표면적으로 인해 음극에 접착력을 부여할 수 있으면서도, 비표면적으로 인한 충방전시의 초기 비가역 용량이 지나치게 증가하지 않도록 할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 0.9 g/cc 내지 1.2 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 구체적으로 0.95 g/cc 내지 1.15 g/cc, 더욱 구체적으로 1.0 g/cc 초과에서 1.1 g/cc까지의 탭 밀도를 가질 수 있다. 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자가 상기 범위의 탭 밀도를 가질 경우, 상기 음극 활물질이 적절한 음극 접착력을 가질 수 있고, 우수한 에너지 밀도를 가질 수 있다.
또한, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 90 nm 내지 120 nm의 c축 방향의 결정 크기를 가질 수 있고, 구체적으로 95 nm 내지 115 nm, 더욱 구체적으로 100 nm 내지 110 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기를 가질 수 있다. 탄소계 입자의 결정 크기가 작을 경우 결정성이 낮아 활물질의 용량이 작아지고, 결정 크기가 클 경우 리튬 이온이 탄소계 입자의 흑연 층간에서 삽입 후 확산되어야 하는 길이가 길어서 리튬 이온이 삽입 탈리되기 용이하지 않기 때문에, 확산 저항이 증가하고 고율 충방전시 리튬 석출이 발생하여 수명특성이 저하될 수 있다. 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 상기 범위의 결정 크기를 가짐으로써, 적절한 용량과 우수한 출력특성 및 수명특성을 발휘할 수 있다.
상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 8 ㎛ 내지 16 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가질 수 있고, 구체적으로 9 ㎛ 내지 18 ㎛, 더욱 구체적으로 11 ㎛ 내지 16 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가질 수 있다. 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 평균 입경(D50)이 상기 범위를 만족할 경우, 적절한 용량 특성과 함께 우수한 출력특성 및 수명특성을 발휘할 수 있다. 한편, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 평균 입경(D50)이 상기 범위보다 작을 경우 전해액과 접촉하는 표면적이 상대적으로 커져서 부반응 증가로 인해 수명 특성이 저하 될 수 있고, 상기 범위보다 클 경우 입자와 전해액이 접촉하는 표면적이 상대적으로 작아져서 리튬 이온이 삽입 및 탈리되기 용이하지 않기 때문에, 확산 저항이 증가하고 고율 충방전시 리튬 석출이 발생하여 수명특성이 저하될 수 있다.
상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 0.4 m2/g 내지 1.5 m2/g의 비표면적을 가지는 것이고, 구체적으로 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 0.4 m2/g 이상 1.5 m2/g 미만, 더욱 구체적으로 0.6 m2/g 내지 1.1 m2/g의 비표면적을 가질 수 있다. 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자가 상기 비표면적 범위를 가질 경우, 충방전시의 초기 비가역 용량이 증가되지 않도록 할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 0.7 g/cc 내지 1.0 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 구체적으로 0.75 g/cc 내지 0.95 g/cc, 더욱 구체적으로 0.8 g/cc 내지 0.9 g/cc 미만의 탭 밀도를 가질 수 있다. 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자가 상기 범위의 탭 밀도를 가질 경우, 상기 음극 활물질이 우수한 에너지 밀도를 가질 수 있다.
또한, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 60 nm 내지 90 nm의 c축 방향의 결정 크기를 가질 수 있고, 구체적으로 65 nm 내지 85 nm, 더욱 구체적으로 70 nm 내지 80 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기를 가질 수 있다. 탄소계 입자의 결정 크기가 작을 경우 결정성이 낮아 활물질의 용량이 작아지고, 결정 크기가 클 경우 리튬 이온이 탄소계 입자의 흑연 층간에서 삽입 후 확산되어야 하는 길이가 길어서 리튬 이온이 삽입 탈리되기 용이하지 않기 때문에, 확산 저항이 증가하고 고율 충방전시 리튬 석출이 발생하여 수명특성이 저하될 수 있다. 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 상기 범위의 결정 크기를 가짐으로써, 적절한 용량과 우수한 출력특성 및 수명특성을 발휘할 수 있다.
상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 15 ㎛ 내지 25 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가질 수 있고, 구체적으로 17 ㎛ 내지 24 ㎛, 더욱 구체적으로 18 ㎛ 내지 23 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가질 수 있다. 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 평균 입경(D50)이 상기 범위를 만족할 경우, 적절한 용량 특성과 함께 우수한 출력특성 및 수명특성을 발휘할 수 있다. 한편, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 평균 입경(D50)이 상기 범위보다 작을 경우 전해액과 접촉하는 표면적이 상대적으로 커져 부반응 증가로 인해 수명 특성이 저하될 수 있고, 상기 범위보다 클 경우 입자와 전해액이 접촉하는 표면적이 상대적으로 작아져, 리튬 이온이 삽입 및 탈리되기 용이하지 않기 때문에, 확산 저항이 증가하고 고율 충방전시 리튬 석출이 발생하여 수명특성이 저하될 수 있다.
상기 제 1 탄소계 입자 및 제 2 탄소계 입자로는, 예컨대 천연 흑연, 키시흑연(kish graphite), 열분해 탄소(pyrolytic carbon), 액정피치계 탄소섬유(mesophase pitch based carbon fiber), 탄소 미소구체(meso-carbon microbeads), 액정피치(mesophase pitches), 연화탄소(soft carbon), 경화탄소(hard carbon), 난흑연화성 탄소, 이흑연화성 탄소, 석유 코크스 및 석탄계 코크스로 이루어지는 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상을 들 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 일례에 있어서, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 구체적으로 천연흑연일 수 있으며, 상기 비표면적, 탭 밀도, 결정 크기 및 평균 입경을 만족하는 천연흑연일 수 있다. 또한, 더욱 구체적으로 구형화도가 0.9 이상이면서 상기 조건을 만족하는 천연흑연일 수 있다.
본 발명의 명세서에서 구형화도는 입자를 투영하였을 때, 투영된 이미지와 동일 면적인 원의 원주를 투영된 이미지의 둘레길이로 나눈 값일 수 있으며, 구체적으로 하기 수학식 1로 나타낼 수 있다. 상기 구형화도는 SEM 이미지로부터 구할 수 있고, 다르게는 입형분석기, 예컨대 Malvern사제 sysmex FPIA3000 등의 입형분석기를 이용하여 측정할 수 있다. 또한 XRD 분석을 통해 결정 크기의 확인이 가능하다.

상기 천연 흑연은 천연적으로 산출되는 흑연을 의미하며, 그 예로는 스케일된 흑연, 스케일리 흑연, 또는 토양(soil) 흑연을 들 수 있다. 상기 천연 흑연은 풍부하게 존재하고 가격이 낮고, 이론적 용량 및 다짐밀도가 높으며, 고출력을 실현할 수 있다는 장점을 가진다.
본 발명의 일례에 따른 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질에 있어서, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자로서는, 예컨대 천연 흑연에 대해서 SEM을 통해 입자 형상을 확인하고, 입형분석기를 통해 확인하는 방법을 거쳐, 상기 구형화도를 만족하는 것을 선별하여 적용할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일례에 있어서, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 구체적으로 인조흑연일 수 있고, 상기 비표면적, 탭 밀도, 결정 크기 및 평균 입경을 만족하는 인조흑연일 수 있다. 또한, 더욱 구체적으로 구형화도가 0.9 이하이면서 상기 조건을 만족하는 인조흑연일 수 있다.
본 발명의 일례에 따른 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질에 있어서, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자로서는, 예컨대 인조흑연에 대해서 SEM을 통해 입자 형상을 확인하고, 입형분석기를 통해 확인하는 방법을 거쳐, 상기 구형화도를 만족하는 것을 선별하여 적용할 수 있다.
상기 실리콘계 입자는 Si, 실리콘 산화물 입자(SiOx, 0<x≤2), Si-금속합금, 및 실리콘-탄소 복합체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 혼합물일 수 있고, 구체적으로 실리콘 산화물 입자(SiOx, 0<x≤2)일 수 있으며, 상기 실리콘 산화물 입자(SiOx, 0<x<2)는 결정형 SiO2 및 비정형 Si로 구성된 복합물일 수 있다.
상기 Si-금속합금의 금속은 알칼리 금속, 알칼리 토금속, 13족 원소, 14족 원소, 15족 원소, 16족 원소, 전이금속, 희토류 원소 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 원소일 수 있고, Si는 제외된다. 상기 금속의 구체적인 예로는 Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, Rf, V, Nb, Ta, Db, Cr, Mo, W, Sg, Tc, Re, Bh, Fe, Pb, Ru,Os, Hs, Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, B, Al, Ga, Sn, In, Tl, Ge, P, As, Sb, Bi, S, Se, Te, Po, 및 이들의 조합을 들 수 있다.
상기 실리콘계 입자는 1 ㎛ 내지 30 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가질 수 있고, 구체적으로 3 ㎛ 내지 20 ㎛, 더욱 구체적으로 4 ㎛ 내지 10 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가질 수 있다. 상기 실리콘계 입자의 평균 입경(D50)이 지나치게 작을 경우 전해액과 부반응이 커지며 수명성능이 저하될 수 있고, 평균 입경(D50)이 지나치게 클 경우 충방전시 부피팽창이 커서 입자 크랙(crack)이 발생할 수 있으므로 수명 성능이 저하될 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 실리콘계 입자가 상기 범위를 만족할 경우, 전해액과의 부반응 및 실리콘계 입자의 부피 팽창이 적정한 정도로 유지될 수 있어 이를 포함하는 전지가 우수한 수명 특성을 발휘할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자 및 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 BET(Brunauer-Emmett-Teller; BET)법으로 측정할 수 있다. 예컨대, 기공분포 측정기(Porosimetry analyzer; Bell Japan Inc, Belsorp-II mini)를 사용하여 질소 가스 흡착 유통법에 의해 BET 6 점법으로 측정할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 탭 밀도는 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자 또는 제 2 탄소계 입자를 용기에 충전한 후, 일정한 조건으로 진동시켜 얻어지는 입자의 겉보기 밀도를 측정하여 얻어질 수 있다.
또한, 상기 c축 방향의 결정 크기는 XRD 측정시 C축 방향의 결정자의 크기인 Lc(002)를 나타내며, 하기 수학식 2의 Scherrer의 식에 의해 계산할 수 있다.

또한, 상기 평균 입경(D50)은 입경 분포의 50% 기준에서의 입경으로 정의할 수 있다. 상기 평균 입경은 특별히 제한되지 않지만, 예컨대 레이저 회절법(laser diffraction method) 또는 주사전자현미경(SEM) 사진을 이용하여 측정할 수 있다. 상기 레이저 회절법은 일반적으로 서브미크론(submicron) 영역에서부터 수 mm 정도의 입경의 측정이 가능하며, 고 재현성 및 고 분해성을 가지는 결과를 얻을 수 있다.
상기 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질은 리튬 이차전지용 음극에 사용될 수 있으며, 따라서 본 발명은 상기 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지용 음극 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차전지를 제공한다.
상기 리튬 이차전지는 양극, 상기 리튬 이차전지용 음극, 및 상기 양극과 상기 음극 사이에 개재된 세퍼레이터를 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
상기 양극은 당 분야에 알려진 통상적인 방법으로 제조할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 양극 활물질에 용매, 필요에 따라 바인더, 도전재, 분산제를 혼합 및 교반하여 슬러리를 제조한 후 이를 금속 재료의 집전체에 도포(코팅)하고 압축한 뒤 건조하여 양극을 제조할 수 있다.
상기 금속 재료의 집전체는 전도성이 높은 금속으로서, 상기 양극 활물질의 슬러리가 용이하게 접착할 수 있는 금속으로 전지의 전압 범위에서 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 높은 도전성을 가지는 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예컨대 스테인레스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 또는 알루미늄이나 스테리인레스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면 처리한 것 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 집전체 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 양극 활물질의 접착력을 높일 수도 있다. 집전체는 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태로 사용 가능하며, 3 내지 500 ㎛의 두께를 갖는 것일 수 있다.
상기 양극 활물질은, 예컨대 리튬 코발트 산화물(LiCoO2), 리튬 니켈 산화물(LiNiO2), Li[NixCoyMnzMv]O2(상기 식에서, M은 Al, Ga 및 In으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 이들 중 2종 이상의 원소이고; 0.3≤x<1.0, 0≤y, z≤0.5, 0≤v≤0.1, x+y+z+v=1이다), Li(LiaMb-a-b'M'b')O2 - cAc(상기 식에서, 0≤a≤0.2, 0.6≤b≤1, 0≤b'≤0.2, 0≤c≤0.2이고; M은 Mn과, Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, V, Cu, Zn 및 Ti로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상을 포함하며; M'는 Al, Mg 및 B로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상이고, A는 P, F, S 및 N로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상이다) 등의 층상 화합물이나 1 또는 그 이상의 전이금속으로 치환된 화합물; 화학식 Li1 + yMn2 - yO4 (여기서, y는 0 내지 0.33임), LiMnO3, LiMn2O3, LiMnO2 등의 리튬 망간 산화물; 리튬 동 산화물(Li2CuO2); LiV3O8, LiFe3O4, V2O5, Cu2V2O7 등의 바나듐 산화물; 화학식 LiNi1 - yMyO2 (여기서, M = Co, Mn, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, B 또는 Ga이고, y는 0.01 내지 0.3임)으로 표현되는 Ni 사이트형 리튬 니켈 산화물; 화학식 LiMn2-yMyO2 (여기서, M = Co, Ni, Fe, Cr, Zn 또는 Ta이고, y는 0.01 내지 0.1임) 또는 Li2Mn3MO8 (여기서, M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu 또는 Zn임)으로 표현되는 리튬 망간 복합 산화물; 화학식의 Li 일부가 알칼리토금속 이온으로 치환된 LiMn2O4; 디설파이드 화합물; Fe2(MoO4)3 등을 들 수 있지만, 이들만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 양극을 형성하기 위한 용매로는 NMP(N-메틸 피롤리돈), DMF(디메틸 포름아미드), 아세톤, 디메틸 아세트아미드 등의 유기 용매 또는 물 등이 있으며, 이들 용매는 단독으로 또는 2종 이상을 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다. 용매의 사용량은 슬러리의 도포 두께, 제조 수율을 고려하여 상기 양극 활물질, 바인더, 도전재를 용해 및 분산시킬 수 있는 정도이면 충분하다.
상기 바인더로는 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드-헥사플루오로프로필렌 코폴리머(PVDF-co-HFP), 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드(polyvinylidenefluoride), 폴리아크릴로니트릴(polyacrylonitrile), 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트(polymethylmethacrylate), 폴리비닐알코올, 카르복시메틸셀룰로오스(CMC), 전분, 히드록시프로필셀룰로오스, 재생 셀룰로오스, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 테트라플루오로에틸렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리아크릴산, 에틸렌-프로필렌-디엔 모노머(EPDM), 술폰화 EPDM, 스티렌 부타디엔 고무(SBR), 불소 고무, 폴리 아크릴산(poly acrylic acid) 및 이들의 수소를 Li, Na 또는 Ca 등으로 치환된 고분자, 또는 다양한 공중합체 등의 다양한 종류의 바인더 고분자가 사용될 수 있다.
상기 도전재는 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예컨대 천연 흑연이나 인조 흑연 등의 흑연; 아세틸렌 블랙, 케첸 블랙, 채널 블랙, 파네스 블랙, 램프 블랙, 서멀 블랙 등의 카본블랙; 탄소 섬유나 금속 섬유 등의 도전성 섬유; 탄소 나노 튜브 등의 도전성 튜브; 플루오로카본, 알루미늄, 니켈 분말 등의 금속 분말; 산화아연, 티탄산 칼륨 등의 도전성 위스커; 산화 티탄 등의 도전성 금속 산화물; 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 도전성 소재 등이 사용될 수 있다. 상기 도전재는 양극 슬러리 전체 중량에 대해 1 중량% 내지 20 중량%의 양으로 사용될 수 있다.
상기 분산제는 수계 분산제 또는 N-메틸-2-피롤리돈 등의 유기 분산제를 사용할 수 있다.
상기 음극은 당 분야에 알려져 있는 통상적인 방법으로 제조될 수 있으며, 예컨대 상기 음극 활물질 및 바인더 및 도전재 등의 첨가제들을 혼합 및 교반하여 음극 활물질 슬러리를 제조한 후, 이를 집전체에 도포하고 건조한 후 압축하여 제조할 수 있다.
상기 음극을 형성하기 위한 용매로는 NMP(N-메틸 피롤리돈), DMF(디메틸 포름아미드), 아세톤, 디메틸 아세트아미드 등의 유기 용매 또는 물 등이 있으며, 이들 용매는 단독으로 또는 2종 이상을 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다. 용매의 사용량은 슬러리의 도포 두께, 제조 수율을 고려하여 상기 음극 활물질, 바인더, 도전재를 용해 및 분산시킬 수 있는 정도이면 충분하다.
상기 바인더는 음극 활물질 입자들을 결착시켜 성형체를 유지하기 위하여 사용될 수 있으며, 음극 활물질용 슬러리 제조 시 사용되는 통상적인 바인더라면 특별히 제한되지 않으나, 예컨대 비수계 바인더인 폴리비닐알코올, 카르복시메틸셀룰로즈, 히드록시프로필렌셀룰로즈, 디아세틸렌셀룰로즈, 폴리비닐클로라이드, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 폴리테트라플루오로에틸렌(PTFE), 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드(PVdF), 폴리에틸렌 또는 폴리프로필렌 등을 사용할 수 있고, 또한 수계 바인더인 아크릴로나이트릴-부타디엔고무, 스티렌-부타디엔 고무 및 아크릴 고무로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 이들 중 2종 이상의 혼합물을 사용할 수 있다. 수계 바인더는 비수계 바인더에 비해 경제적, 친환경적이고, 작업자의 건강에도 무해하며, 비수계 바인더에 비하여 결착 효과가 우수하므로, 동일 체적당 활물질의 비율을 높일 수 있어 고용량화가 가능하며, 수계 바인더로는 바람직하게는 스티렌-부타디엔 고무가 사용될 수 있다.
상기 바인더는 음극 활물질용 슬러리 전체 중량 중에 10 중량% 이하로 포함될 수 있으며, 구체적으로 0.1 중량% 내지 10 중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 바인더의 함량이 0.1 중량% 미만이면 바인더 사용에 따른 효과가 미미하여 바람직하지 않고, 10 중량%를 초과하면 바인더 함량 증가에 따른 활물질의 상대적인 함량 감소로 인해 체적당 용량이 저하될 우려가 있어 바람직하지 않다.
상기 도전재는 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 상기 도전재의 예로서는 천연 흑연이나 인조 흑연 등의 흑연; 아세틸렌 블랙, 케첸 블랙, 채널 블랙, 퍼네이스 블랙, 램프 블랙, 서머 블랙 등의 카본블랙; 탄소 섬유나 금속 섬유 등의 도전성 섬유; 불화 카본, 알루미늄, 니켈 분말 등의 금속 분말; 산화아연, 티탄산 칼륨 등의 도전성 위스커; 산화 티탄 등의 도전성 금속 산화물; 또는 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 도전성 소재 등을 들 수 있다. 상기 도전재는 음극 활물질용 슬러리 전체 중량에 대해 1 중량% 내지 9 중량%의 양으로 사용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 상기 음극에 사용되는 음극 집전체는 3 ㎛ 내지 500 ㎛의 두께를 갖는 것일 수 있다. 상기 음극 집전체는, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예컨대 구리, 스테인리스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 구리나 스테인리스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면처리한 것, 알루미늄-카드뮴 합금 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 음극 활물질의 결합력을 강화시킬 수도 있으며, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태로 사용될 수 있다.
또한, 세퍼레이터로는 종래에 세퍼레이터로 사용된 통상적인 다공성 고분자 필름, 예컨대 에틸렌 단독중합체, 프로필렌 단독중합체, 에틸렌-부텐 공중합체, 에틸렌-헥센 공중합체 및 에틸렌-메타크릴레이트 공중합체 등과 같은 폴리올레핀계 고분자로 제조한 다공성 고분자 필름을 단독으로 또는 이들을 적층하여 사용할 수 있으며, 또는 통상적인 다공성 부직포, 예컨대 고융점의 유리 섬유, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트 섬유 등으로 된 부직포를 사용할 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
본 발명에서 사용되는 전해질로서 포함될 수 있는 리튬염은 리튬 이차전지용 전해질에 통상적으로 사용되는 것들이 제한 없이 사용될 수 있으며, 예컨대 상기 리튬염의 음이온으로는 F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, NO3 -, N(CN)2 -, BF4 -, ClO4 -, PF6 -, (CF3)2PF4 -, (CF3)3PF3 -, (CF3)4PF2 -, (CF3)5PF-, (CF3)6P-, CF3SO3 -, CF3CF2SO3 -, (CF3SO2)2N-, (FSO2)2N-, CF3CF2(CF3)2CO-, (CF3SO2)2CH-, (SF5)3C-, (CF3SO2)3C-, CF3(CF2)7SO3 -, CF3CO2 -, CH3CO2 -, SCN- 및 (CF3CF2SO2)2N-로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나일 수 있다.
본 발명에서 사용되는 전해액에 있어서, 전해액에 포함되는 유기 용매로는 이차 전지용 전해액에 통상적으로 사용되는 것들이 제한 없이 사용될 수 있으며, 대표적으로 프로필렌 카보네이트(propylene carbonate, PC), 에틸렌 카보네이트(ethylene carbonate, EC), 디에틸 카보네이트(diethyl carbonate, DEC), 디메틸 카보네이트(dimethyl carbonate, DMC), 에틸메틸 카보네이트(EMC), 메틸프로필 카보네이트, 디프로필 카보네이트, 디메틸 설퍼옥사이드, 아세토니트릴, 디메톡시에탄, 디에톡시에탄, 비닐렌 카보네이트, 설포란, 감마-부티로락톤, 프로필렌 설파이트 및 테트라하이드로푸란으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 이들 중 2종 이상의 혼합물 등이 대표적으로 사용될 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 카보네이트계 유기용매 중 고리형 카보네이트인 에틸렌 카보네이트 및 프로필렌 카보네이트는 고점도의 유기용매로서 유전율이 높아 전해질 내의 리튬염을 잘 해리시키므로 바람직하게 사용될 수 있으며, 이러한 고리형 카보네이트에 디메틸 카보네이트 및 디에틸 카보네이트와 같은 저점도, 저유전율 선형 카보네이트를 적당한 비율로 혼합하여 사용하면 높은 전기 전도율을 갖는 전해액을 만들 수 있어 더욱 바람직하게 사용될 수 있다. 특히, 본 발명의 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지는 표면에 알칼리 카보네이트 층이 형성되어 있는 흑연을 포함하여 우수한 내 프로필렌 카보네이트성을 가지므로, 리튬 이차전지가 우수한 저온 성능을 발휘할 수 있도록 바람직하게는 상기 프로필렌 카보네이트를 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
선택적으로, 본 발명에 따라 저장되는 전해액은 통상의 전해액에 포함되는 과충전 방지제 등과 같은 첨가제를 더 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 리튬 이차전지의 외형은 특별한 제한이 없으나, 캔을 사용한 원통형, 각형, 파우치(pouch)형 또는 코인(coin)형 등이 될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 리튬 이차전지는 소형 디바이스의 전원으로 사용되는 전지셀에 사용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 다수의 전지셀들을 포함하는 중대형 전지모듈에 단위전지로도 바람직하게 사용될 수 있다.
상기 중대형 디바이스의 바람직한 예로는 전기자동차, 하이브리드 전기자동차, 플러그-인 하이브리드 전기자동차 및 전력 저장용 시스템 등을 들 수 있지만, 이들 만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
실시예
이하, 본 발명을 구체적으로 설명하기 위해 실시예 및 실험예를 들어 더욱 상세하게 설명하나, 본 발명이 이들 실시예 및 실험예에 의해 제한되는 것은 아니다. 본 발명에 따른 실시예는 여러 가지 다른 형태로 변형될 수 있으며, 본 발명의 범위가 아래에서 상술하는 실시예에 한정되는 것으로 해석되어서는 안 된다. 본 발명의 실시예는 당 업계에서 평균적인 지식을 가진 자에게 본 발명을 보다 완전하게 설명하기 위해서 제공되는 것이다.
실시예 1
3.0 m2/g의 비표면적, 1.1 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 110 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기, 16 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 천연흑연 10 중량부, 1.0 m2/g의 비표면적, 0.9 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 70 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기, 23 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 인조흑연 85 중량부, 및 6 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 실리콘 산화물 입자(SiOx, 0<x<2) 5 중량부로 이루어진 음극 활물질과 도전재로서 super c65(제조사), 및 바인더로서 폴리비닐리덴(PVdF)을 용매인 N-메틸 피롤리돈(NMP)에 94:1:5의 중량비로 혼합하여 균일한 음극 슬러리를 제조하였다.
상기 제조된 음극 슬러리를 구리 집전체의 일면에 65 ㎛의 두께로 코팅하고, 건조 및 압연한 후 일정크기로 펀칭하여 음극을 제조하였다.
<리튬 이차 전지의 제조>
상대(counter) 전극으로 Li 금속을 사용하였고, 상기 음극과 Li 금속 사이에 폴리올레핀 세퍼레이터를 개재시킨 후, 에틸렌 카보네이트(EC), 프로필렌 카보네이트(PC), 에틸메틸 카보네이트(EMC)를 20:10:70의 부피비로 혼합한 용매에 1M LiPF6가 용해된 전해액을 주입하여 코인형 반쪽전지를 제조하였다.
실시예 2
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연 및 인조흑연을 각각 5 중량부 및 90 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
실시예 3
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연 및 인조흑연을 각각 20 중량부 및 75 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
실시예 4
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연, 인조흑연 및 실리콘 산화물 입자를 각각 10 중량부, 80 중량부 및 10 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
실시예 5
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연으로서 2.0 m2/g의 비표면적, 1.2 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 120 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기, 12 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 천연흑연, 인조흑연으로서 0.6 m2/g의 비표면적, 0.85 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 60 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기, 18 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 인조흑연을 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 1
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연 및 인조흑연을 각각 1 중량부 및 94 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 2
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연 및 인조흑연을 각각 25 중량부 및 70 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 3
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연, 인조흑연 및 실리콘 산화물 입자를 각각 20 중량부, 78 중량부 및 2 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용하고, 상기 제조된 음극 슬러리를 구리 집전체의 일면에 72 ㎛의 두께로 코팅하여 실시예 1의 음극의 용량에 맞춘 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 4
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연, 인조흑연 및 실리콘 산화물 입자를 각각 4 중량부, 90 중량부 및 6 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 5
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연, 인조흑연 및 실리콘 산화물 입자를 각각 20 중량부, 70 중량부 및 10 중량부의 양으로 달리 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 6
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 천연흑연을 대신하여 10 m2/g의 비표면적, 1.1 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 110 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기, 16 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 천연흑연을 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
비교예 7
상기 실시예 1에서, 상기 인조흑연을 대신하여 2 m2/g의 비표면적, 0.9 g/cc의 탭 밀도, 70 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기, 23 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는 인조흑연을 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 마찬가지의 방법으로 음극 및 리튬 이차전지를 제조하였다.
실험예 1 : 출력 특성 평가
실시예 1 내지 5, 및 비교예 1 내지 6에서 각각 제조된 이차전지를 25℃에서 SOC(충전 심도) 50에서 5C으로 10초간 방전하여 발생하는 전압차로 출력을 계산하였다. 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.
실험예 2 : 초기 효율 및 사이클 특성 평가
실시예 1 내지 5, 및 비교예 1 내지 6에서 각각 제조된 전지들을 25 ℃에서 0.8 C의 정전류(CC)로 4.25 V가 될 때까지 충전하고, 이후 정전압(CV)으로 충전하여 충전전류가 0.005 C(cut-off current)이 될 때까지 1회째의 충전을 행하였다. 이후 20분간 방치한 다음 0.8 C의 정전류(CC)로 2.5 V가 될 때까지 방전하였다. 이를 1 내지 50회의 사이클로 반복 실시하였다. 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.
실험예 3 : 전극 접착력 평가
슬라이드 글라스 상에 2 cm×10 cm의 양면 테이프를 붙이고, 상기 실시예 1 내지 5, 및 비교예 1 내지 6에서 각각 제조된 음극을 1 cm×10 cm의 크기로 잘라 2 kg의 롤러로 일정한 힘을 가하여 상기 양면 테이프 상에 부착하였다. 음극이 부착된 슬라이드 글라스를 180°각도로 눕힌 후, 부착된 음극을 20 m/분의 속도로 박리하면서 이때의 힘을 측정하였다. 이를 5회 반복하여 평균 값을 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.

상기 표 1을 참조하면, 실시예 1 내지 5의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 출력 성능, 300 사이클 후 용량 유지율 및 전극 접착력이 고르게 우수함을 확인할 수 있다.
반면, 인조흑연을 상대적으로 많은 양 포함하는 비교예 1의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 출력 성능이 우수하였지만, 전극 접착력이 낮고 이에 따라 수명 특성이 좋지 않았으며, 천연흑연을 상대적으로 많은 양 포함하는 비교예 2의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 전극 접착력이 높고 수명 특성이 비교예 1의 전지에 비해 양호하였으나 출력 성능은 좋지 못하였다.
이러한 경향은 비교예 4 및 5를 통하여도 마찬가지임을 확인할 수 있다. 즉, 천연흑연을 적정량에 비해 적은 양 포함하는 비교예 4의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 출력 성능이 우수하였지만, 전극 접착력이 낮고 이에 따라 수명 특성이 좋지 않았으며, 인조흑연을 상대적으로 적정량에 비해 적은 양 포함하는 비교예 5의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 전극 접착력이 높고 수명 특성이 비교예 4의 전지에 비해 양호하였으나 출력 성능은 좋지 못하였다. 한편, 비교예 4 및 5의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 실리콘 산화물 입자를 비교예 1 및 2에 비해 상대적으로 많은 양 포함하므로, 비교예 1 및 2의 전지에 비해서는 출력 특성 및 수명 특성이 다소 낮은 값을 나타내었다.
한편, 실리콘계 입자가 적은 양 사용된 비교예 3의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 출력 성능, 수명 특성 및 전극 접착력이 전체적으로 저조하였다. 이는 실리콘계 입자의 함량이 작아지게 되면 면적당 전극 용량이 작아지게 되어 실시예 1의 음극 활물질과 대등한 용량을 갖기 위해서는 전극의 두께가 두꺼워져야 하므로, 이에 따라 음극의 성능이 저하되었기 때문으로 분석된다.
또한, 비표면적이 큰 천연흑연을 포함하는 비교예 6의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지 및 비표면적이 큰 인조흑연을 포함하는 비교예 7의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지는 출력 성능 및 수명 특성이 실시예 1의 음극 활물질을 포함하는 이차전지에 비해 저하되었다. 이는 비표면적의 증가에 따라 천연흑연 또는 인조흑연의 전해액과의 부반응이 실시예 1의 음극 활물질에 비해 증가하였기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.

Claims (13)

  1. 전체 음극 활물질 100 중량부에 대하여, 5 중량부 내지 20 중량부의 제 1 탄소계 입자, 55 중량부 내지 90 중량부의 제 2 탄소계 입자, 및 1 중량부 내지 40 중량부의 실리콘계 입자를 포함하고,
    상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 1.5 m2/g 내지 4.5 m2/g이고, 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 0.4 m2/g 내지 1.5 m2/g이며, 상기 제 1 탄소계 입자의 비표면적은 상기 제 2 탄소계 입자의 비표면적보다 큰 것인, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 0.9 g/cc 내지 1.2 g/cc의 탭 밀도를 가지는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 XRD 측정시 90 nm 내지 120 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기(Lc(002))를 가지는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  4. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 8 ㎛ 내지 16 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 0.7 g/cc 내지 1.0 g/cc의 탭 밀도를 가지는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  6. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 XRD 측정시 60 nm 내지 90 nm의 c축 방향 결정 크기(Lc(002))를 가지는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  7. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 15 ㎛ 내지 25 ㎛의 평균 입경(D50)을 가지는, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  8. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 탄소계 입자 및 제 2 탄소계 입자는 각각 천연 흑연, 키시흑연(kish graphite), 열분해 탄소(pyrolytic carbon), 액정피치계 탄소섬유(mesophase pitch based carbon fiber), 탄소 미소구체(meso-carbon microbeads), 액정피치(mesophase pitches), 연화탄소(soft carbon), 경화탄소(hard carbon), 난흑연화성 탄소, 이흑연화성 탄소, 석유 코크스 및 석탄계 코크스로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상인, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  9. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 탄소계 입자는 천연흑연인, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  10. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 2 탄소계 입자는 인조흑연인, 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  11. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 실리콘계 입자는 Si, 실리콘 산화물 입자(SiOx, 0<x≤2), Si-금속합금, 및 실리콘-탄소 복합체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 혼합물인 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질.
  12. 제 1 항 내지 제 11 항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 리튬 이차전지용 음극 활물질을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지용 음극.
