Definitions
- the present application relates to the field of communication technologies, and more particularly, to a communication method, apparatus, and system.
- the application scenarios of different devices may be different. Different types of application scenarios have different requirements for the function and performance of the network, and the integration and optimization of the traditional human-centered single network cannot meet the demand. At the same time, the optimization and demand differences of different scenarios may be large. For example, some scenarios require services with ultra-low latency and high reliability. Other scenarios require massive connections but services with small data volume, and some scenarios require High bandwidth, large data volume services. If a private network is built in each scenario, the cost of network construction and operation of operators will increase, resulting in waste of resources. Therefore, the concept of network slicing has emerged.
- the network segmentation allows the operator to provide a separate and independent network environment for different types of application scenarios on the same network infrastructure. This allows different types of application scenarios to customize network functions and features according to their respective requirements. Guarantee the needs of different businesses.

- the AMF in the first Public Land Mobile Network receives a registration request message from the terminal device.
- the AMF is the service AMF of the terminal device.
- the AMF receives a registration request message of the terminal device forwarded by the RAN device.
- the AMF sends the configured network slice selection assistance information (Configured NSSAI) of the first PLMN to the terminal device, where the first condition is met, wherein the first condition includes any one of the following: the registration request
- the message is an initial registration request message, or the registration request message is sent after the terminal device moves from the second PLMN to the first PLMN.
- the terminal device when the terminal device is powered on or re-registered to the network after registration, the terminal device sends an initial registration request message to the AMF requesting registration to the network.
- the initial registration request message may be a registration request message whose registration type is initial registration.
- the AMF may determine, according to the 5G Globally Unique Temporary Identifier (5G GUTI) carried in the registration request message sent by the terminal device, that the terminal device moves from the second PLMN to the first PLMN.
- the 5G GUTI includes a Mobile Country Code (MCC) and a Mobile Network Code (MNC), and the MCC and the MNC form a PLMN ID, and the AMF can obtain the PLMN ID from the 5G GUTI.
- the PLMN ID is the PLMN ID of the PLMN where the last AMF serving the UE is located.
- the condition for transmitting the configured network slice selection assistance information of the first PLMN to the terminal device may also be understood as: the registration type carried in the registration request message is a mobility registration update.
- the terminal device changes in the subscribed S-NSSAIs of the terminal device in the RM-DEREGISTERED state, and the change of the subscribed S-NSSAIs of the terminal device may cause the PLMN of the terminal device.
- the Configured NSSAI changes. Because the terminal is in the de-registered state, the 5G core network cannot send the updated Configured NSSAI of each PLMN to the terminal, and the Configured NSSAI of each PLMN currently saved by the terminal cannot be updated in time (hereinafter referred to as scenario 1). Using the method shown in FIG.
- the AMF in the first PLMN sends the configured network slice selection assistance information of the first PLMN as long as the registration type sent by the terminal device to the AMF in the first PLMN is initial registration.
- the AMF can send the Configured NSSAI of the first PLMN to the terminal device in time. Therefore, the terminal device can obtain the Configured NSSAI of the first PLMN update in time, and then use the updated Configured NSSAI to determine the Requested NSSAI when the first PLMN is accessed, and provide the core network for the selection of the network slice.
- the subscribed S-NSSAIs of the terminal device include S-NSSAI 1, S-NSSAI2, S-NSSAI 4, because S-NSSAI 1, S-NSSAI 2, S-NSSAI are deployed in the first PLMN. 3 corresponding network slice, so the Configured NSSAI of the terminal device in the first PLMN includes S-NSSAI 1, S-NSSAI2.
- the changed Subscribed S-NSSAIs include S-NSSAI 1, S-NSSAI 2, S-NSSAI 3.
- the Configured NSSAI of the terminal device in the first PLMN cannot be updated in time, so the network slice corresponding to the S-NSSAI 3 cannot be used.
- the Configured NSSAI of the first PLMN used by the terminal device can be updated in time.
- the updated First PLMN's Configured NSSAI includes S-NSSAI 1, S-NSSAI 2, S-NSSAI 3. Therefore, the terminal device can use the network slice corresponding to the S-NSSAI 3, thereby improving the user experience.
- the changed Subscribed S-NSSAIs include S-NSSAI 1, S-NSSAI 4.
- the terminal device Configured NSSAI cannot obtain timely update. Therefore, the network slice corresponding to the S-NSSAI 2 may be requested in the first PLMN, resulting in waste of network signaling.
- the Configured NSSAI of the first PLMN used by the terminal device can be updated in time. For example, the updated First PLMN's Configured NSSAI includes S-NSSAI 1. Therefore, the terminal device does not request to use the network slice corresponding to the S-NSSAI 2, thereby avoiding waste of network signaling and saving network resources.
- the terminal device moves from the second PLMN to the first PLMN. If the terminal device resides in the second PLMN, the Subscribed S-NSSAIs included in the terminal device subscription information changes, and the change of the subscription S-NSSAIs of the terminal device may result in the configuration of the PLMN of the terminal device. NSSAI changes. However, since the terminal device resides in the second PLMN, the AMF only sends the Configured NSSAI of the second PLMN to the terminal device, and does not send the Configured NSSAI of the first PLMN of the terminal device (Scenario 2 for short). With the method shown in FIG.
- the AMF may update the updated first PLMN as long as the registration type of the terminal device is a mobility registration update and the terminal device moves from the second PLMN to the first PLMN.
- Configured NSSAI is sent to the terminal device.
