At a temperature higher than 140 ° C., the mold may be deformed, and the polymer may be deformed in conjunction with the deformation. As a result, the shape of the contact lens may be abnormal.
- the maintenance time (polymerization time) of the polymerization step 2 is 1 hour or more, and preferably 10 hours or less. If the polymerization time is less than 1 hour, the polymerization reaction may not be completed. If the time exceeds 10 hours, the polymerization step becomes too long, and the productivity is undesirably reduced. Note that, similarly to the polymerization step 1, the maintenance time does not include the temperature raising time.
- the atmosphere in which the polymerization steps 1 and 2 are performed is not particularly limited, but it is preferable that both of the polymerization steps 1 and 2 be performed in an atmosphere of an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon in order to improve the polymerization rate.
- an inert gas may be passed through the composition, or the mold may be filled with an inert gas atmosphere in the composition.
- the pressure in the mold may be between atmospheric pressure and slight pressure.
- the gauge pressure be 1 kgf / cm 2 or less.
- the contact lens of the present invention is a silicone hydrogel contact lens and contains a hydrate of the above polymer. That is, the contact lens (silicone hydrogel contact lens) of the present invention can be obtained by hydrating and hydrating the polymer of the present invention to form a hydrogel.
- “silicone hydrogel” refers to a hydrogel having a silicone portion in a polymer. Since the composition of the present invention contains the components (C) and (D), which are silicone-containing monomers, the polymer has a silicone part and can be hydrated (hydrated) to form a silicone hydrogel.
- the water content of the contact lens (the ratio of water to the total weight of the contact lens) is preferably 35% by mass or more and less than 65% by mass, and more preferably 40% by mass or more and 60% by mass or less. If the water content is less than 35% by mass, it is difficult to obtain hydrophilicity of the contact lens, and if it is 65% or more, there is a concern that high oxygen permeability cannot be obtained.
- the manufacturing method described below is merely an embodiment of the method for obtaining the contact lens of the present invention, and the contact lens of the present invention is not limited to that obtained by the manufacturing method.
- the polymer may be in a state of a mixture with unreacted monomer components (unreacted substances), residues of each component, by-products, remaining solvents, and the like.
- a mixture can be subjected to the hydration treatment as it is, but it is preferable to purify the polymer using a purification solvent before the hydration treatment.
- the solvent for purification examples include water, methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, and mixtures thereof. Purification can be performed, for example, by immersing the polymer in an alcohol solvent at a temperature of 10 ° C. to 40 ° C. for 10 minutes to 5 hours, and then immersing it in water for 10 minutes to 5 hours. Further, after immersion in an alcohol solvent, it may be immersed in hydrous alcohol having an alcohol concentration of 20 to 50% by weight for 10 minutes to 5 hours, and further immersed in water. As the water, pure water, ion-exchanged water and the like are preferable.
- the contact lens of the present invention can be obtained by immersing the purified polymer in physiological saline and hydrating it to have a predetermined water content.
- the saline may be borate buffered saline, phosphate buffered saline, or the like. Further, it may be immersed in a storage solution for soft contact lenses containing physiological saline.
- the osmotic pressure of the physiological saline is preferably 250 to 400 mOms / kg from the viewpoint of hydration.
- the contact lens of the present invention has good hydrophilicity on the lens surface, is difficult to adhere to dirt such as lipids, and is easy to wash and remove even when it adheres, and has excellent mechanical strength. Can be used for about one month. Of course, it may be exchanged in a shorter time.
- Component (F) monomer other than components (A) to (E)
- NVP N-vinylpyrrolidone
- MMA methyl methacrylate
- compositions were evaluated for the compositions, polymers, and contact lenses (model contact lenses) of Examples and Comparative Examples.
- “composition”, “polymer”, and “contact lens (model contact lens)” in each evaluation item and each table include not only examples but also comparative examples.
- the modulus [MPa] of the model contact lens was measured according to JIS-K7127 using a BAS-3305 (W) breaking strength analyzer manufactured by Yamaden Co., Ltd. to evaluate the mechanical strength. Specifically, using a measurement sample in which a model contact lens was cut into a width of 2 mm, a 200 gf load cell was used, and a 6 mm gap between clamps was pulled at a speed of 1 mm / sec to measure the modulus from the initial stress. When the modulus was 0.2 MPa or more and less than 0.7 MPa, the mechanical strength was determined to be good.
- the distance until the measurement sample was broken was measured, and the elongation percentage with respect to the sample length of 6 mm was defined as the elongation at break [%], and evaluated based on the following criteria. ⁇ : 350% or more ⁇ : 200% or more and less than 350% ⁇ : less than 200%
- the lubricity of the model contact lenses was evaluated by a fingertip sensory evaluation. Polymacon and omafilcon A were used as standard contact lenses for evaluation. The lubricity of polyconcon was 2 and the lubricity of omafilcon A was 8, which was evaluated on a scale of 1 to 10. When the evaluation score is 7 or more, the surface lubricity is good. When the score is 4 to 6, the surface lubricity is normal.
- Example 1 0.5 g (5.0 wt%) MPC, 1.85 g (18.5 wt%) HPMA, 1.23 g (12.3 wt%) EMVE, 2.96 g (29.6 wt%) ETS and 0.62 g (6.2 parts by mass) of NPA were mixed in a vessel and stirred at room temperature until MPC was dissolved.
- 3.34 g (33.4 wt%) of FM-0711, 0.12 g (1.2 wt%) of TEGDV, 2.47 g (24.7 wt%) of NVP, and 0.12 g (1. (2 parts by mass) of AIBN was added to the container, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature until uniform to obtain a composition. This composition was evaluated as described above.
- 0.3 g of the above composition was poured into a 25 mm ⁇ 70 mm ⁇ 0.2 mm cell sandwiched between two polypropylene plates using a polyethylene terephthalate sheet having a thickness of 0.1 mm as a spacer, and placed in an oven. After the atmosphere in the oven was replaced with nitrogen, the temperature was raised to 65 ° C. and maintained at that temperature for 3 hours, and then further raised to 120 ° C. and maintained for 1 hour to polymerize the composition to obtain a polymer. The polymer was taken out of the cell and evaluated as described above.
- the polymer was immersed in 40 g of 2-propanol for 4 hours and then immersed in 50 g of ion-exchanged water for 4 hours to remove unreacted substances and purified.
- the purified polymer was immersed in a physiological saline solution described in ISO-18369-3 and swelled (hydrated) to produce a model contact lens.
- This model contact lens was processed into a sample having a size and shape suitable for each evaluation test, and each evaluation was performed.
- Table 1 shows the mixing ratio of each component in the composition, polymerization conditions, and each evaluation result.
- Examples 2 to 11 The compositions, polymers, and model contact lenses of Examples 2 to 11 were prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the content ratio of each component and the polymerization conditions were changed as shown in Table 1, and each evaluation was performed. went. Table 1 shows the results.
- Comparative Example 1 2.22 g (22.2 wt%) MPC, 1.48 g (14.8 wt%) HPMA, 6.18 g (61.8 wt%) ETS, and 1.23 g (12.3 wt parts) Were mixed in a vessel and stirred at room temperature. Further, 0.12 g (1.2% by mass) of TEGDV, 2.47 g (24.7 parts by mass) of NVP, and 0.12 g (1.2 parts by mass) of AIBN are added to the container, and the mixture is added at room temperature. The composition of Comparative Example 1 was obtained by stirring until the mixture became uniform. The above evaluation was performed on the composition of Comparative Example 1.
