본 발명은 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 고온 노출 시 양극의 전이금속 용출 및 SEI막 분해를 억제할 수 있는 전해질 첨가제를 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지에 관한 것이다.
최근 에너지 저장 기술에 대한 관심이 갈수록 높아지고 있으며, 휴대폰, 캠코더 및 노트북 PC, 나아가서는 전기자동차의 에너지까지 적용분야가 확대되면서 전기화학소자의 연구와 개발에 대한 노력이 점점 구체화되고 있다.
전기화학소자 중에서도 충방전이 가능한 이차 전지의 개발에 대한 관심이 대두되고 있으며, 특히 1990년대 초에 개발된 리튬 이차 전지는 작동 전압이 높고 에너지 밀도가 월등히 크다는 장점에서 각광 받고 있다.
리튬 이차 전지는 일반적으로 리튬을 함유하고 있는 전이금속 산화물로 이루어진 양극 활물질을 포함하는 양극과, 리튬 이온을 저장할 수 있는 음극 활물질을 포함하는 음극 사이에 분리막을 개재하여 전극 조립체를 형성하고, 상기 전극 조립체를 전지 케이스에 삽입한 후, 리튬 이온을 전달하는 매개체가 되는 비수 전해질을 주입한 다음 밀봉하는 방법으로 제조된다.
한편, 리튬 이차 전지는 전압이 높아지거나 고온에 노출될 경우, 저항 증가와 용량 감퇴가 일어나 성능이 열화되는 문제점이 있다. 이와 같은 성능 열화는 고온에서 전해액이 분해되면서 발생되는 부산물에 의해 전극(특히, 음극) 표면 상에 형성된 피막이 분해되면서 SEI 막이 손상되어 부동태 능력이 저하되기 때문인 것으로 알려져 있다. 전극 표면 상에 형성된 SEI막이 손상되면, 충방전 중에 추가적인 피막 및 전해질의 분해를 야기되고, 양극에서 전이금속 용출이 발생하여 전지 성능 퇴화가 가속화되게 된다. 또한, 양극에서 용출된 전이금속 이온은 음극에 전착되어 금속의 전착과 추가적인 전해질 분해로 인한 전자를 소모시켜 비가역 용량이 증가되어, 셀 용량을 감퇴시킬 뿐만 아니라, 저항 증가 및 흑연 음극의 자가 방전을 유발할 수 있다.
한편, 리튬 이차 전지의 제조 공정 중 슬릿팅 공정, 활물질 제조 공정, 케이스 조립 공정 등과 같은 공정에서 불순물이 유입될 수 있으며, 이러한 불순물의 대표적인 예로는 철(Fe)을 들 수 있다. 철(Fe)과 같은 불순물이 전지 내에서 산화되면 저전압을 유발하여 전지 성능을 저하시키는 원인이 된다.
따라서, 고온에서 SEI 막 손상을 방지하여 전지 성능 퇴화를 억제하고, 불순물에 의한 저전압 현상을 방지할 수 있는 리튬 이차 전지에 대한 개발이 요구되고 있다.
본 발명은 상기와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위한 것으로, 양극 및/또는 음극에서 분해되어 SEI 막을 강화시켜 주고, SEI 피막을 분해시키는 HF 등과 같은 전해질 부산물을 제거(scavenging)할 수 있는 관능기를 갖는 첨가제를 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지를 제공하고자 한다.
일 측면에서, 본 발명은, 유기 용매; 리튬염; 및 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질을 제공한다.

R1 내지 R3은 각각 독립적으로 수소, 탄소수 1 ~ 10의 알킬기 또는 탄소수 1 ~ 10의 알콕시기임.
다른 측면에서, 본 발명은 양극; 음극; 상기 양극 및 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막; 및 상기 본 발명에 따른 비수 전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지를 제공한다.
본 발명의 비수 전해질에 포함되는 화학식 1의 첨가제는 Si 및 프로파질기를 포함하는 화합물로, Si는 전해질 분해산물로 발생하는 HF 등과 반응하여 Si-F를 형성하여 제거함으로써, HF 등으로 인해 SEI 피막이 손상되는 것을 억제할 수 있게 해준다.
한편, 상기 화학식 1의 첨가제에 포함된 프로파질기는 전극 표면에서 분해되어 SEI 막을 강화시킴으로써, 전극 표면의 부동태막이 안정적으로 유지될 수 있도록 해주고, 불순물인 Fe 등의 표면에 흡착하여 Fe 산화를 방지함으로써, Fe 산화로 인해 발생하는 저전압 현상을 억제할 수 있도록 해준다.
따라서, 화학식 1의 첨가제를 포함하는 본 발명의 비수 전해질을 사용하면, 고온 노출 시 SEI 막 분해에 의해 발생하는 전이금속 용출, 가스 발생 등으로 인한 전지 성능 저하를 억제할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 불순물 산화에 의해 발생되는 전지 성능 저하도 효과적으로 방지할 수 있다.
본 명세서 및 청구 범위에 사용된 용어나 단어는 통상적이거나 사전적인 의미로 한정해서 해석되어서는 아니 되며, 발명자는 그 자신의 발명을 가장 최선의 방법으로 설명하기 위해 용어의 개념을 적절하게 정의할 수 있다는 원칙에 입각하여 본 발명의 기술적 사상에 부합하는 의미와 개념으로 해석되어야만 한다.
본 발명자들은 고온에서도 우수한 성능을 갖는 리튬 이차 전지를 개발하기 위해 연구를 거듭한 결과, 비수 전해질 첨가제로 특정 구조의 프로파질기를 포함하는 실리콘 화합물을 사용함으로써, 고온에서의 전이금속 용출 및 SEI 막 분해 현상을 억제할 수 있음을 알아내고 본 발명을 완성하였다.
이하, 본 발명을 더욱 상세하게 설명한다.
비수 전해질
본 발명에 따른 비수 전해질은 리튬염, 유기 용매 및 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함한다.

(1) 리튬염
상기 리튬염으로는, 리튬 이차전지용 전해질이 통상적으로 사용되는 다양한 리튬염들이 제한 없이 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 리튬염은, 양이온으로 Li+를 포함하고, 음이온으로는 F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, NO3 -, N(CN)2 -, BF4 -, ClO4 -, AlO4 -, AlCl4 -, PF6 -, SbF6 -, AsF6 -, B10Cl10 -, BF2C2O4 -, BC4O8 -, PF4C2O4 -, PF2C4O8 -, (CF3)2PF4 -, (CF3)3PF3 -, (CF3)4PF2 -, (CF3)5PF-, (CF3)6P-, CF3SO3 -, C4F9SO3 -, CF3CF2SO3 -, (CF3SO2)2N-, (FSO2)2N-, CF3CF2(CF3)2CO-, (CF3SO2)2CH-, CH3SO3 -, CF3(CF2)7SO3 -, CF3CO2 -, CH3CO2 -, SCN- 및 (CF3CF2SO2)2N-로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 적어도 어느 하나를 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 리튬염은 LiCl, LiBr, LiI, LiBF4, LiClO4, LiAlO4, LiAlCl4, LiPF6, LiSbF6, LiAsF6, LiB10Cl10, LiBOB (LiB(C2O4)2), LiCF3SO3, LiTFSI (LiN(SO2CF3)2), LiFSI (LiN(SO2F)2), LiCH3SO3, LiCF3CO2, LiCH3CO2 및 LiBETI (LiN(SO2CF2CF3)2로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 적어도 어느 하나 이상을 들 수 있다. 구체적으로 리튬염은 LiBF4, LiClO4, LiPF6, LiBOB (LiB(C2O4)2), LiCF3SO3, LiTFSI (LiN(SO2CF3)2), 및 LiBETI (LiN(SO2CF2CF3)2로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 단일물 또는 2종 이상의 혼합물을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 리튬염은 통상적으로 사용 가능한 범위 내에서 적절히 변경할 수 있으나, 최적의 전극 표면의 부식 방지용 피막 형성 효과를 얻기 위하여, 전해액 내에 0.8 M 내지 4.0 M의 농도, 구체적으로 1.0M 내지 3.0M 농도로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 리튬염의 농도가 0.8 M 미만이면, 리튬 이차전지의 저온 출력 개선 및 고온 저장 시 사이클 특성 개선의 효과가 미미하고, 4.0 M 농도를 초과하면 비수전해액의 점도가 증가함에 따라 전해액 함침성이 저하될 수 있다.
(2) 유기 용매
상기 유기 용매로는, 리튬 전해질에 통상적으로 사용되는 다양한 유기 용매들이 제한 없이 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 유기 용매는 환형 카보네이트계 유기용매, 선형 카보네이트계 유기용매 또는 이들의 혼합 유기용매를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 환형 카보네이트계 유기용매는 고점도의 유기용매로서 유전율이 높아 전해질 내의 리튬염을 잘 해리시킬 수 있는 유기용매로서, 그 구체적인 예로 에틸렌 카보네이트(EC), 프로필렌 카보네이트(PC), 1,2-부틸렌 카보네이트, 2,3-부틸렌 카보네이트, 1,2-펜틸렌 카보네이트, 2,3-펜틸렌 카보네이트 및 비닐렌 카보네이트로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상의 유기용매를 포함할 수 있으며, 이 중에서도 에틸렌 카보네이트를 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 선형 카보네이트계 유기용매는 저점도 및 저유전율을 가지는 유기용매로서, 그 대표적인 예로 디메틸 카보네이트(dimethyl carbonate, DMC), 디에틸 카보네이트(diethyl carbonate, DEC), 디프로필 카보네이트, 에틸메틸 카보네이트(EMC), 메틸프로필 카보네이트 및 에틸프로필 카보네이트로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상의 유기용매를 사용할 수 있으며, 구체적으로 에틸메틸 카보네이트(EMC)를 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 유기용매는 높은 이온 전도율을 갖는 전해액을 제조하기 위하여, 상기 환형 카보네이트계 유기용매 및/또는 선형 카보네이트계 유기용매에 선형 에스테르계 유기용매 및/또는 환형 에스테르계 유기용매를 추가로 포함할 수도 있다
이러한 선형 에스테르계 유기용매는 그 구체적인 예로 메틸 아세테이트, 에틸 아세테이트, 프로필 아세테이트, 메틸 프로피오네이트, 에틸 프로피오네이트, 프로필 프로피오네이트 및 부틸 프로피오네이트로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상의 유기용매를 들 수 있다.
또한, 상기 환형 에스테르계 유기용매로는 γ-부티로락톤, γ-발레로락톤, γ-카프로락톤, σ-발레로락톤, ε-카프로락톤과 같은 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상의 유기용매를 들 수 있다.
한편, 상기 유기용매는 필요에 따라 리튬 이차전지용 전해액에 통상적으로 사용되는 유기용매를 제한 없이 추가하여 사용할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 에테르계 유기용매, 아미드계 유기용매 및 니트릴계 유기용매 중 적어도 하나 이상의 유기용매를 추가로 포함할 수도 있다.
(3) 첨가제
본 발명의 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질은 첨가제로 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함한다.

상기 [화학식 1]에서, R1 내지 R3은 각각 독립적으로 수소, 탄소수 1 ~ 10의 알킬기 또는 탄소수 1 ~ 10의 알콕시기이다.
구체적으로는, 상기 R1 내지 R3는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 ~ 4의 알킬기일 수 있으며, 더욱 구체적으로는, 상기 R1 내지 R3는 메틸기, 에틸기 또는 프로필기일 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 Si 및 프로파질기를 포함하는 화합물로, 상기 Si는 전해질 분해산물로 발생하는 HF 등과 반응하여 Si-F를 형성함으로써, HF를 제거하여, HF가 전극 표면의 피막을 공격하여 분해시키는 것을 방지할 수 있도록 한다.
또한, 상기 프로파질기는 전극 표면의 피막과 반응하여 SEI막이 공고하게 형성될 수 있도록 함으로써, 양극과 전해질이 접촉되어 전이 금속이 용출되는 것을 방지할 수 있도록 해준다. 또한, 상기 프로파질기는 불순물인 Fe 등에 흡착하여 Fe 산화를 방지함으로써 저전압 현상이 발생하지 않도록 해준다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물의 구체적인 예로는, 하기 화학식 1-1로 표시되는 화합물을 들 수 있다.

상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 비수 전해질 100중량부에 대하여, 0.5 내지 5 중량부, 바람직하게는 0.5 내지 3중량부, 더 바람직하게는 0.5 내지 1중량부로 포함된다. 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물의 함량이 너무 적으면 HF 제거 효과가 미미하고, 너무 많으면, 저항 증가 등의 부작용이 발생할 수 있기 때문이다.
(4) 부가적 첨가제
한편, 본 발명에 따른 비수 전해질은, 고출력의 환경에서 비수전해액이 분해되어 음극 붕괴가 유발되는 것을 방지하거나, 저온 고율방전 특성, 고온 안정성, 과충전 방지, 고온에서의 전지 팽창 억제 효과 등을 더욱 향상시키기 위하여, 필요에 따라, 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물 이외에 다른 부가적인 첨가제들을 더 포함할 수 있다.
이러한 부가적 첨가제의 예로는 환형 카보네이트계 화합물, 할로겐 치환된 카보네이트계 화합물, 설톤계 화합물, 설페이트계 화합물, 포스페이트계 화합물, 보레이트계 화합물, 니트릴계 화합물, 벤젠계 화합물, 아민계 화합물, 실란계 화합물 및 리튬염계 화합물로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 적어도 하나 이상을 들 수 있다.
상기 환형 카보네이트계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 비닐렌카보네이트(VC) 또는 비닐에틸렌 카보네이트 등일 수 있다.
상기 할로겐 치환된 카보네이트계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 플루오로에틸렌 카보네이트(FEC)) 등일 수 있다.
상기 설톤계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 1,3-프로판 설톤(PS), 1,4-부탄 설톤, 에텐설톤, 1,3-프로펜 설톤(PRS), 1,4-부텐 설톤 및 1-메틸-1,3-프로펜 설톤으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 적어도 하나 이상의 화합물일 수 있다.
상기 설페이트계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 에틸렌 설페이트(Ethylene Sulfate; Esa), 트리메틸렌설페이트 (Trimethylene sulfate; TMS), 또는 메틸트리메틸렌설페이트 (Methyl trimethylene sulfate; MTMS) 등일 수 있다.
상기 포스페이트계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 리튬 디플루오로(비스옥살라토)포스페이트, 리튬 디플루오로포스페이트, 테트라메틸 트리메틸 실릴 포스페이트, 트리메틸 실릴 포스파이트, 트리스(2,2,2-트리플루오로에틸)포스페이트 및 트리스(트리플루오로에틸) 포스파이트로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 화합물일 수 있다.
상기 보레이트계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 테트라페닐보레이트, 리튬 옥살릴디플루오로보레이트 등일 수 있다.
상기 니트릴계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 숙시노니트릴, 아디포니트릴, 아세토니트릴, 프로피오니트릴, 부티로니트릴, 발레로니트릴, 카프릴로니트릴, 헵탄니트릴, 사이클로펜탄 카보니트릴, 사이클로헥산 카보니트릴, 2-플루오로벤조니트릴, 4-플루오로벤조니트릴, 다이플루오로벤조니트릴, 트리플루오로벤조니트릴, 페닐아세토니트릴, 2-플루오로페닐아세토니트릴, 및 4-플루오로페닐아세토니트릴로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상의 화합물일 수 있다.
상기 벤젠계 화합물은, 예를 들면, 플루오로벤젠 등일 수 있고, 상기 아민계 화합물은 트리에탄올아민 또는 에틸렌디아민 등일 수 있으며, 상기 실란계 화합물은 테트라비닐실란 등일 수 있다.
상기 리튬염계 화합물은 상기 비수전해액에 포함되는 리튬염과 상이한 화합물로서, LiPO2F2, LiODFB, LiBOB(리튬 비스옥살레이토보레이트(LiB(C2O4)2) 및 LiBF4로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 화합물일 수 있다.
이러한 부가적 첨가제 중, 비닐렌 카보네이트, 비닐에틸렌 카보네이트 또는 숙시노 니트릴을 포함하는 경우에 이차전지의 초기 활성화 공정시 음극 표면에 보다 견고한 SEI 피막을 형성할 수 있다.
상기 LiBF4를 포함하는 경우에는 고온 저장시 전해액의 분해로 인하여 생성될 수 있는 가스 발생을 억제하여, 이차 전지의 고온 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
한편, 상기 부가적 첨가제들은 2 종 이상이 혼합되어 사용될 수 있으며, 비수 전해질 전체 중량을 기준으로 0.01 내지 50 중량%, 구체적으로 0.01 내지 10 중량%로 포함될 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 0.05 내지 5 중량% 일 수 있다. 상기 부가적 첨가제의 함량이 0.01 중량% 보다 적으면 전지의 저온 출력 개선 및 고온 저장 특성 및 고온 수명 특성 개선의 효과가 미미하고, 상기 부가적 첨가제의 함량이 50 중량%를 초과하면 과량의 첨가제에 의해 전지의 충방전시 부반응이 과도하게 발생할 가능성이 있다. 특히, 상기 SEI 막 형성용 첨가제들이 과량으로 첨가될 시에 고온에서 충분히 분해되지 못하여, 상온에서 전해액 내에서 미반응물이 생성되거나, 또는 석출된 채로 존재하고 있을 수 있다. 이에 따라 이차전지의 수명 또는 저항특성이 저하되는 부반응이 발생될 수 있다.
리튬 이차 전지
다음으로, 본 발명에 따른 리튬 이차 전지에 대해 설명한다.
본 발명에 따른 리튬 이차 전지는 양극, 음극, 상기 양극 및 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막 및 비수 전해질을 포함하며, 이때, 상기 비수 전해질은 상기 본 발명에 따른 비수 전해질이다. 비수 전해질에 대해서는 상술하였으므로, 이에 대한 설명은 생략하고, 이하에서는 다른 구성요소들에 대해 설명한다.
(1) 양극
본 발명에 따른 양극은, 양극 활물질을 포함하는 양극 활물질층을 포함할 수 있으며, 필요에 따라, 상기 양극 활물질층은 도전재 및/또는 바인더를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 양극 활물질은 리튬의 가역적인 인터칼레이션 및 디인터칼레이션이 가능한 화합물로서, 구체적으로는 코발트, 망간, 니켈 또는 알루미늄과 같은 1종 이상의 전이 금속과 리튬을 포함하는 리튬 복합금속 산화물일 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 상기 리튬 복합금속 산화물은 리튬-망간계 산화물(예를 들면, LiMnO2, LiMn2O4 등), 리튬-코발트계 산화물(예를 들면, LiCoO2 등), 리튬-니켈계 산화물(예를 들면, LiNiO2 등), 리튬-니켈-망간계 산화물(예를 들면, LiNi1-YMnYO2(0<Y<1), LiMn2-zNizO4(0<Z<2), 리튬-니켈-코발트계 산화물(예를 들면, LiNi1-Y1CoY1O2(0<Y1<1), 리튬-망간-코발트계 산화물(예를 들면, LiCo1-Y2MnY2O2(0<Y2<1), LiMn2-z1Coz1O4(0<Z1<2), 리튬-니켈-망간-코발트계 산화물(예를 들면, Li(Nip1Coq1Mnr1)O2(0<p1<1, 0<q1<1, 0<r1<1, p1+q1+r1=1) 또는 Li(Nip2Coq2Mnr2)O4(0<p2<2, 0<q2<2, 0<r2<2, p2+q2+r2=2), 또는 리튬-니켈-코발트-전이금속(M) 산화물(예를 들면, Li(Nip3Coq3Mnr3Ms3)O2(M은 Al, Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Ta, Mg 및 Mo로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되고, p3, q3, r3 및 s3는 각각 독립적인 원소들의 원자분율로서, 0<p3<1, 0<q3<1, 0<r3<1, 0<s3<1, p2+q2+r3+s2=1이다) 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들 중 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 화합물이 포함될 수 있다.
이 중에서도 전지의 용량 특성 및 안정성을 높일 수 있다는 점에서 상기 리튬 복합금속 산화물은 LiCoO2, LiMnO2, LiNiO2, 리튬 니켈코발트망간 산화물(예를 들면, Li(Ni0.6Mn0.2Co0.2)O2, Li(Ni0.5Mn0.3Co0.2)O2, 또는 Li(Ni0.8Mn0.1Co0.1)O2 등), 또는 리튬 니켈코발트알루미늄 산화물(예를 들면, Li(Ni0.8Co0.15Al0.05)O2 등) 등일 수 있으며, 더 구체적으로는, 하기 화학식 2로 표시되는 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물일 수 있다.

상기 [화학식 2]에서, 상기 M1은 전이금속 사이트에 치환된 도핑 원소이며, W, Cu, Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Zr, Zn, Al, In, Ta, Y, La, Sr, Ga, Sc, Gd, Sm, Ca, Ce, Nb, Mg, B, 및 Mo로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상의 원소일 수 있다.
상기 A는, 산소 사이트에 치환된 원소로, F, Cl, Br, I, At 및 S로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 원소일 수 있다.
상기 x는 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물 내에서 전체 전이금속 대비 리튬의 원자 비율을 의미하는 것으로, 1 내지 1.30, 바람직하게는, 1 초과 1.30 이하, 더 바람직하게는 1.005 내지 1.30, 보다 더 바람직하게는 1.01 내지 1.20일 수 있다.
상기 y는 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물 내에서 전이금속 중 니켈의 원자 비율을 의미하는 것으로 0.3 이상 1 미만, 바람직하게는 0.6 내지 1미만, 더 바람직하게는 0.6 내지 0.95이다. 전이금속 중 니켈의 함량이 높아질수록 더 높은 용량을 구현할 수 있기 때문에, 니켈 함량이 0.6 이상인 것이 고용량 구현에 보다 유리하다.
상기 z는 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물 내에서 전이금속 중 코발트의 원자 비율을 의미하는 것으로, 0 초과 0.6 이하, 바람직하게는 0.01 내지 0.4이다.
상기 w는 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물 내에서 전이금속 중 망간 원자 비율을 의미하는 것으로, 0 초과 0.6 이하, 바람직하게는 0.01 내지 0.4이다.
상기 v는 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물 내의 전이금속 사이트에 도핑된 도핑원소 M1의 원자 비율을 의미하는 것으로, 0 내지 0.2, 바람직하게는 0 내지 0.1일 수 있다. 도핑 원소 M1이 첨가될 경우, 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물의 구조 안정성을 개선하는 효과가 있으나, 도핑 원소의 함유량이 증가하면 용량이 떨어질 수 있으므로, 0.2 이하의 함량으로 포함되는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 p는 산소 사이트에 치환된 원소 A의 원자 비율을 의미하는 것으로, 0 내지 0.2, 바람직하게는 0 내지 0.1일 수 있다.
한편, 상기 화학식 1에서, y+z+w+v=1이다.
상기 리튬 니켈코발트망간계 산화물의 구체적인 예로는, LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3 O2, LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2, LiNi0.5Co0.3Mn0.2O2, LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2, LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 등을 들 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 양극 활물질은 양극 활물질층 전체 중량을 기준으로 80 내지 98중량%, 보다 구체적으로는 85 내지 98중량%의 함량으로 포함될 수 있다. 양극 활물질이 상기 범위로 포함될 때 우수한 용량 특성을 나타낼 수 있다.
다음으로, 상기 도전재는 전극에 도전성을 부여하기 위해 사용되는 것으로서, 구성되는 전지에 있어서, 화학변화를 야기하지 않고 전자 전도성을 갖는 것이면 특별한 제한 없이 사용 가능하다.
구체적인 예로는 천연 흑연이나 인조 흑연 등의 흑연; 카본 블랙, 아세틸렌블랙, 케첸블랙, 채널 블랙, 퍼네이스 블랙, 램프 블랙, 서머 블랙, 탄소섬유 등의 탄소계 물질; 구리, 니켈, 알루미늄, 은 등의 금속 분말 또는 금속 섬유; 산화아연, 티탄산 칼륨 등의 도전성 휘스커; 산화 티탄 등의 도전성 금속 산화물; 또는 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 전도성 고분자 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들 중 1종 단독 또는 2종 이상의 혼합물이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 도전재는 양극 활물질층 전체 중량을 기준으로 0.1 내지 10중량%, 바람직하게는 0.1 내지 5중량%로 포함될 수 있다.
다음으로, 상기 바인더는 양극 활물질 입자들 간의 부착 및 양극 활물질과집전체와의 접착력을 향상시키는 역할을 한다.
상기 바인더의 구체적인 예로는 폴리비닐리덴플로라이드(PVDF), 비닐리덴플루오라이드-헥사플루오로프로필렌코폴리머(PVDF-co-HFP), 폴리비닐알코올, 폴리아크릴로니트릴(polyacrylonitrile), 카르복시메틸셀룰로우즈(CMC), 전분, 히드록시프로필셀룰로우즈, 재생 셀룰로우즈, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 테트라플루오로에틸렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 에틸렌-프로필렌-디엔폴리머(EPDM), 술폰화-EPDM, 스티렌부타디엔 고무(SBR), 불소 고무, 또는 이들의 다양한 공중합체 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들 중 1종 단독 또는 2종 이상의 혼합물이 사용될 수 있다. 상기 바인더는 양극 활물질층 전체 중량을 기준으로 0.1 내지 15 중량%, 바람직하게는 0.1 내지 10중량%로 포함될 수 있다.
상기와 같은 본 발명의 양극은 당해 기술 분야에 알려져 있는 양극 제조 방법에 따라 제조될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 양극은, 양극 활물질, 바인더 및/또는 도전재를 용매 중에 용해 또는 분산시켜 제조한 양극 슬러리를 양극 집전체 상에 도포한 후, 건조 및 압연하는 방법, 또는 상기 양극 슬러리를 별도의 지지체 상에 캐스팅한 다음, 지지체를 박리하여 얻은 필름을 양극 집전체 상에 라미네이션하는 방법 등을 통해 제조될 수 있다.
상기 양극 집전체는 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어 스테인리스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소 또는 알루미늄이나 스테인레스 스틸 표면에 탄소, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면 처리한 것 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또, 상기 양극 집전체는 통상적으로 3 내지 500㎛의 두께를 가질 수 있으며, 상기 집전체 표면 상에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 양극 활물질층에 대한 접착력을 높일 수도 있다. 예를 들어, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태로 사용될 수 있다.
상기 용매는 당해 기술분야에서 일반적으로 사용되는 용매일 수 있으며, 디메틸셀폭사이드(dimethyl sulfoxide, DMSO), 이소프로필 알코올(isopropyl alcohol), N-메틸피롤리돈(NMP), 아세톤(acetone) 또는 물 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들 중 1종 단독 또는 2종 이상의 혼합물이 사용될 수 있다. 상기 용매의 사용량은 양극 합재의 도포 두께, 제조 수율, 작업성 등을 고려하여 양극 합재가 적절한 점도를 갖도록 조절될 수 있는 정도이면 되고, 특별히 한정되지 않는다.
(2) 음극
다음으로 음극에 대해 설명한다.
본 발명에 따른 음극은, 음극 활물질로 탄소계 음극 활물질을 포함한다. 구체적으로는. 상기 음극은 탄소계 음극 활물질을 포함하는 음극 활물질층을 포함하며, 상기 음극 활물질층은, 필요에 따라, 도전재 및/또는 바인더를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 탄소계 음극 활물질로는, 당 업계에서 사용되는 다양한 탄소계 음극 활물질들, 예를 들면, 천연 흑연, 인조 흑연, 키시흑연 (Kish graphite)과 같은 그라파이트계 물질; 열분해 탄소 (pyrolytic carbon), 액정 피치계 탄소섬유 (mesophase pitch based carbon fiber), 탄소 미소구체 (meso-carbon microbeads), 액정피치 (Mesophase pitches) 및 석유와 석탄계 코크스 (petroleum or coal tar pitch derived cokes) 등의 고온 소성탄소, 연화탄소 (soft carbon), 경화탄소 (hard carbon) 등이 사용될 수 있다. 상기 탄소계 음극 활물질의 형상은 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 무정형, 판상, 인편상, 구형 또는 섬유형 등과 같은 다양한 형상의 물질들이 사용될 수 있다.
바람직하게는 상기 탄소계 음극 활물질은 천연 흑연 및 인조 흑연 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다. 더 바람직하게는 상기 탄소계 음극 활물질은 천연 흑연 및 인조 흑연을 포함할 수 있다. 천연 흑연과 인조 흑연을 함께 사용할 경우, 집전체와의 접착력이 높아져 활물질 탈리를 억제할 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명에 따른 음극은, 음극 활물질로 상기 탄소계 음극 활물질 이외의 실리콘계 음극 활물질과 같은 다른 종류의 음극 활물질을 추가로 포함할 수 있다.
상기 실리콘계 음극 활물질은, 금속 실리콘(Si), 실리콘 산화물(SiOx, 여기서 0<x<2) 실리콘 탄화물(SiC) 및 Si-Y 합금(상기 Y는 알칼리 금속, 알칼리 토금속, 13족 원소, 14족 원소, 전이금속, 희토류 원소 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 원소이며, Si은 아님)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 원소 Y로는 Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, Rf, V, Nb, Ta, Db, Cr, Mo, W, Sg, Tc, Re, Bh, Fe, Pb, Ru, Os, Hs, Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, B, Al, Ga, Sn, In, Ti, Ge, P, As, Sb, Bi, S, Se, Te, Po, 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택될 수 있다.
실리콘계 음극 활물질은 탄소계 음극 활물질에 비해 높은 용량 특성을 나타내므로, 실리콘계 음극 활물질을 추가로 포함할 경우, 더 우수한 용량 특성을 얻을 수 있다.
다만, 실리콘 함유 음극의 경우, 흑연 음극에 비해 SEI 막 내에 O-리치(O-rich)한 성분을 더 많이 함유하고 있으며, O-리치한 성분들을 포함하는 SEI막은 전해질 내에 HF 또는 PF5와 같은 루이스 산이 존재할 경우, 더 쉽게 분해되는 경향을 보인다. 따라서, 실리콘 함유 음극의 경우, 안정적인 SEI 막 유지를 위해 전해질 내 HF 및 PF5와 같은 루이스 산의 생성을 억제하거나, 생성된 루이스 산을 제거(혹은 scavenging)할 필요가 있다. 본 발명에 따른 비수 전해질은 HF 등의 루이스 산을 제거할 수 있는 Si 관능기와, 음극 표면에서 분해되어 SEI 막을 강화시켜주는 프로파질기를 포함하는 첨가제를 사용하기 때문에, 실리콘 함유 음극 사용 시에 SEI 피막 분해를 효과적으로 억제할 수 있다.
일 구현예에 따르면, 상기 음극 활물질은 실리콘계 음극 활물질과 탄소계 음극 활물질의 혼합물일 수 있으며, 이때 상기 실리콘계 음극 활물질 : 탄소계 음극 활물질의 혼합 비율은 중량비율로 1 : 99 내지 50 : 50, 바람직하게 5 : 95 내지 30 : 70 일 수 있다. 상기 실리콘계 음극 활물질과 탄소계 음극 활물질의 혼합 비율이 상기 범위를 만족하는 경우, 용량 특성을 향상시키면서도 실리콘계 음극 활물질의 부피 팽창이 억제되어 우수한 사이클 성능을 확보할 수 있다.
상기 음극 활물질은 음극 활물질층 전체 중량을 기준으로 80 중량% 내지 99중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 음극 활물질의 함량이 상기 범위를 만족할 경우, 우수한 용량 특성 및 전기화학적 특성을 얻을 수 있다.
다음으로, 상기 도전재는 음극활물질의 도전성을 더욱 향상시키기 위한 성분으로서, 음극 활물질층의 전체 중량을 기준으로 10 중량% 이하, 바람직하게는 5 중량% 이하로 첨가될 수 있다. 이러한 도전재는 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 천연 흑연이나 인조 흑연 등의 흑연; 아세틸렌 블랙, 케첸 블랙, 채널 블랙, 퍼네이스 블랙, 램프 블랙, 서멀 블랙 등의 카본블랙; 탄소 섬유나 금속 섬유 등의 도전성 섬유; 불화 카본, 알루미늄, 니켈 분말 등의 금속 분말; 산화아연, 티탄산 칼륨 등의 도전성 휘스커; 산화티탄 등의 도전성 금속 산화물; 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 도전성 소재 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 바인더는 도전재, 활물질 및 집전체 간의 결합에 조력하는 성분으로서, 통상적으로 음극 활물질층의 전체 중량을 기준으로 0.1 중량% 내지 10 중량%로 첨가된다. 이러한 바인더의 예로는, 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드(PVDF), 폴리비닐알코올, 카르복시메틸셀룰로우즈(CMC), 전분, 히드록시프로필셀룰로우즈, 재생 셀룰로우즈, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 테트라플루오로에틸렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 에틸렌-프로필렌-디엔폴리머(EPDM), 술폰화-EPDM, 스티렌-부타디엔 고무, 니트릴-부타디엔 고무, 불소 고무, 이들의 다양한 공중합체 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 음극은 당해 기술 분야에 알려져 있는 음극 제조 방법에 따라 제조될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 음극은 음극 집전체 상에 음극 활물질과, 선택적으로 바인더 및 도전재를 용매 중에 용해 또는 분산시켜 제조한 음극 슬러리를 도포하고 압연, 건조하는 방법 또는 상기 음극 슬러리를 별도의 지지체 상에 캐스팅한 다음, 지지체를 박리시켜 얻은 필름을 음극 집전체 상에 라미네이션함으로써 제조될 수 있다.
상기 음극 집전체는 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 높은 도전성을 가지는 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 구리, 스테인레스스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 구리나 스테인레스 스틸의 표면에 탄소, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면처리한 것, 알루미늄-카드뮴 합금 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또, 상기 음극 집전체는 통상적으로 3㎛ 내지 500㎛의 두께를 가질 수 있으며, 양극 집전체와 마찬가지로, 상기 집전체 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 음극 활물질층에 대한 결합력을 강화시킬 수도 있다. 예를 들어, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태로 사용될 수 있다.

(3) 분리막
본 발명에 따른 리튬 이차전지는, 상기 양극 및 음극 사이에 분리막을 포함한다.
상기 분리막은 음극과 양극을 분리하고 리튬 이온의 이동 통로를 제공하는 것으로, 통상 리튬 이차 전지에서 분리막으로 사용되는 것이라면 특별한 제한없이 사용가능하며, 특히 전해질의 이온 이동에 대하여 저 저항이면서 전해액 함습 능력이 우수한 것이 바람직하다.
구체적으로는 분리막으로 다공성 고분자 필름, 예를 들어 에틸렌 단독중합체, 프로필렌단독중합체, 에틸렌/부텐 공중합체, 에틸렌/헥센 공중합체 및 에틸렌/메타크릴레이트 공중합체 등과 같은 폴리올레핀계 고분자로 제조한 다공성 고분자 필름 또는 이들의 2층 이상의 적층 구조체가 사용될 수 있다. 또 통상적인 다공성 부직포, 예를 들어 고융점의 유리 섬유, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트 섬유 등으로 된 부직포가 사용될 수도 있다. 또, 내열성 또는 기계적 강도 확보를 위해 세라믹 성분 또는 고분자 물질이 포함된 코팅된 분리막이 사용될 수도 있으며, 선택적으로 단층 또는 다층 구조로 사용될 수 있다.
상기와 같은 본 발명에 따른 리튬 이차전지는 휴대전화, 노트북 컴퓨터, 디지털 카메라 등의 휴대용 기기, 및 하이브리드 전기자동차(hybrid electric vehicle, HEV) 등의 전기 자동차 분야 등에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
이에 따라, 본 발명의 다른 일 구현예에 따르면, 상기 리튬 이차전지를 단위 셀로 포함하는 전지 모듈 및 이를 포함하는 전지팩이 제공된다.
상기 전지모듈 또는 전지팩은 파워 툴(Power Tool); 전기자동차(Electric Vehicle, EV), 하이브리드 전기자동차, 및 플러그인 하이브리드 전기자동차(Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV)를 포함하는 전기차; 또는 전력 저장용 시스템 중 어느 하나 이상의 중대형 디바이스 전원으로 이용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 리튬 이차전지의 외형은 특별한 제한이 없으나, 캔을 사용한 원통형, 각형, 파우치(pouch)형 또는 코인(coin)형 등이 될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 리튬 이차전지는 소형 디바이스의 전원으로 사용되는 전지셀에 사용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 다수의 전지셀들을 포함하는 중대형 전지모듈에 단위전지로도 바람직하게 사용될 수 있다.
이하, 구체적인 실시예를 통해 본 발명을 구체적으로 설명한다.

실험예 1: 전이금속 용출량 평가
(양극 제조)
양극 활물질 입자로 리튬-망간계 산화물(LiMn2O4; LMO), 도전재로 카본 블랙 및 바인더로 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드 (PVDF)를 90:5:5의 중량 비율로 용제인 N-메틸-2-피롤리돈(NMP)에 첨가하여 양극 활물질 슬러리 (고형분 48 중량%)를 제조하였다. 상기 양극 활물질 슬러리를 두께가 100㎛인 양극 집전체 (Al 박막)에 도포하고, 건조하고 롤 프레스(roll press)를 실시하여 양극을 제조하였다.
(음극 제조)
음극 활물질 (인조 흑연:SiO = 95:5 중량비), 바인더로 PVDF, 도전재로 카본 블랙을 95:2:3의 중량 비율로 용제인 NMP에 첨가하여 음극 활물질 슬러리(고형분: 70 중량%를 제조하였다. 상기 음극 활물질 슬러리를 두께가 90㎛인 음극 집전체 (Cu 박막)에 도포하고, 건조하고 롤 프레스(roll press)를 실시하여 음극을 제조하였다.
(이차전지 제조)
전술한 방법으로 제조한 양극과 음극을 폴리에틸렌 다공성 필름과 함께 순차적으로 적층하는 통상적인 방법으로 전극 조립체를 제조한 다음, 이를 파우치형 이차전지 케이스에 수납하고, 실시예 1 ~ 3 및 비교예 1에 의해 제조된 비수 전해질을 주입하여 리튬 이차 전지를 제조하였다.
상기와 같이 제조된 각각의 리튬 이차 전지를 25℃에서 0.1C 조건으로 SOC 30%까지 충전하였다. 그런 다음, 상기 충전된 리튬 이차 전지로부터 양극을 분리하고, 실시예 1 ~ 3 및 비교예 1의 비수 전해질에 함침시킨 후, 60℃에서 4주 동안 보관한 다음, 유도결합 플라즈마 방출분광기(ICP-OES, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrophotometer, Perkin Elimner사)를 이용하여 ICP 측정법으로 망간 용출량을 측정하였다. 측정 결과는 하기 [표 2]에 나타내었다.

상기 [표 2]에 나타난 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 첨가제를 포함하는 실시예 1 ~ 3의 비수 전해질을 사용할 경우, 첨가제를 포함하지 않는 비교예 1의 비수 전해질을 사용한 경우에 비해 망간 용출량이 감소하였음을 확인할 수 있으며, 특히 첨가제 함량이 증가할수록 망간 용출량이 더욱 줄어듦을 알 수 있다.
실험예 2: 고온 저장 특성 평가
(양극 제조)
양극 활물질 입자로 리튬 니켈-망간-코발트계 산화물 (LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2; NCM811), 도전재로 카본 블랙 및 바인더로 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드 (PVDF)를 90:5:5의 중량 비율로 용제인 N-메틸-2-피롤리돈 (NMP)에 첨가하여 양극 활물질 슬러리 (고형분 48 중량%)를 제조하였다. 상기 양극 활물질 슬러리를 두께가 100㎛인 양극 집전체 (Al 박막)에 도포하고, 건조하고 롤 프레스(roll press)를 실시하여 양극을 제조하였다.
(음극 제조)
음극 활물질 (인조 흑연:SiO = 95:5 중량비), 바인더로 PVDF, 도전재로 카본 블랙을 95:2:3의 중량 비율로 용제인 NMP에 첨가하여 음극 활물질 슬러리(고형분: 70 중량%를 제조하였다. 상기 음극 활물질 슬러리를 두께가 90㎛인 음극 집전체 (Cu 박막)에 도포하고, 건조하고 롤 프레스(roll press)를 실시하여 음극을 제조하였다.
(이차전지 제조)
전술한 방법으로 제조한 양극과 음극을 폴리에틸렌 다공성 필름과 함께 순차적으로 적층하는 통상적인 방법으로 전극 조립체를 제조한 다음, 이를 파우치형 이차전지 케이스에 수납하고, 실시예 1 ~ 3 및 비교예 1에 의해 제조된 비수 전해질을 주입하여 리튬 이차 전지를 제조하였다.
상기와 같이 제조된 각각의 리튬 이차 전지를 25℃에서 CC/CV, 0.33C 조건으로 4.2V(0.05C cut off)로 SOC 100%까지 만충전 하였다. 그런 다음, 상기 만충전된 리튬 이차 전지를 60℃에서 12주 동안 저장한 다음, 용량 유지율, 부피 증가율 및 저항 증가율을 측정하였다.
이때, 용량 유지율은 고온 저장 전 측정된 리튬 이차 전지의 방전 용량과 고온 저장 후 측정된 리튬 이차 전지의 방전 용량을 하기 식 (1)에 대입하여 계산하였다.
식 (1): 용량 유지율(%)= (고온 저장 후 방전용량/고온 저장 전 방전용량) Х100
부피 변화율은 고온 저장 전 초기 부피와 고온 저장 후의 부피를 하기 식 (2)에 대입하여 계산하였다.
식 (2): 부피 변화율(%) = {(고온 저장 후의 부피-초기 부피)/초기 부피} ×100
저항 증가율은 고온 저장 전에 측정한 초기 저항값 및 고온 저장 후에 측정한 저항 값을 하기 식 (3)에 대입하여 계산하였다.
식 (3): 저항 증가율 (%) = {(고온 저장 후의 저항 값 - 초기 저항 값) /초기 저항 값}×100
측정 결과는 하기 [표 3]에 나타내었다.

상기 [표 3]에 나타난 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 첨가제를 포함하는 실시예 1 ~ 3의 비수 전해질을 사용할 경우, 첨가제를 포함하지 않는 비교예 1의 비수 전해질을 사용한 경우에 비해 부피 및 저항 증가가 감소하고, 용량 유지율은 증가하여 고온 저장 후 전지 성능이 우수함을 확인할 수 있다.
실험예 3: HF 제거 성능 평가
실시예 1 ~ 3 및 비교예 1에 의해 제조된 비수 전해질을 45℃에서 2주간 보관한 후, 적정(titration)을 통해 HF 함량을 측정하였다. 측정 결과는 하기 [표 4]에 기재하였다.

상기 [표 4]에 나타난 바와 같이, 화학식 1-1의 첨가제를 포함하는 실시예 1 ~ 3의 비수 전해질은, 첨가제를 포함하지 않는 비교예 1의 비수 전해질에 비해 HF 함량이 현저하게 감소하였다. 이는 본 발명의 첨가제가 HF scavenging 효과를 가짐을 보여준다.
실험예 4 : 가스 발생량 평가
(양극 제조)
양극 활물질 입자로 리튬 니켈-망간-코발트계 산화물 (LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2; NCM811), 도전재로 카본 블랙 및 바인더로 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드 (PVDF)를 90:5:5의 중량 비율로 용제인 N-메틸-2-피롤리돈 (NMP)에 첨가하여 양극 활물질 슬러리 (고형분 48 중량%)를 제조하였다. 상기 양극 활물질 슬러리를 두께가 100㎛인 양극 집전체 (Al 박막)에 도포하고, 건조하고 롤 프레스(roll press)를 실시하여 양극을 제조하였다.
(음극 제조)
음극 활물질 (인조 흑연:SiO = 95:5 중량비), 바인더로 PVDF, 도전재로 카본 블랙을 95:2:3의 중량 비율로 용제인 NMP에 첨가하여 음극 활물질 슬러리(고형분: 70 중량%를 제조하였다. 상기 음극 활물질 슬러리를 두께가 90㎛인 음극 집전체 (Cu 박막)에 도포하고, 건조하고 롤 프레스(roll press)를 실시하여 음극을 제조하였다.
(이차전지 제조)
전술한 방법으로 제조한 양극과 음극을 폴리에틸렌 다공성 필름과 함께 순차적으로 적층하는 통상적인 방법으로 전극 조립체를 제조한 다음, 이를 파우치형 이차전지 케이스에 수납하고, 실시예 1 ~ 3 및 비교예 1에 의해 제조된 비수 전해질을 주입하여 리튬 이차 전지를 제조하였다.
상기와 같이 제조된 각각의 리튬 이차 전지를 25℃에서 CC/CV, 0.33C 조건으로 4.2V(0.05C cut off)로 SOC 100%까지 만충전하였다. 그런 다음, 상기 만충전된 리튬 이차 전지를 80℃에서 4주 동안 보관하면서 가스 발생량을 측정하였다. 측정 결과는 하기 [표 5]에 나타내었다.

상기 [표 5]에 나타난 바와 같이, 화학식 1-1의 첨가제를 포함하는 실시예 1 ~ 3의 비수 전해질을 사용할 경우, 첨가제를 포함하지 않는 비교예 1의 비수 전해질을 사용하는 경우에 비해 가스 발생량이 현저하게 감소함을 확인할 수 있다. 한편, O를 포함하는 화학식 B의 첨가제를 사용한 비교예 3의 리튬 이차 전지가 화학식 1-1의 첨가제를 사용한 실시예 1 ~ 3의 리튬 이차전지에 비해 상대적으로 가스 발생량이 많은 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 화학식 B의 첨가제가 분해되면서 발생되는 O원자에 의해 CO 및 CO2 가스의 생성이 증가하기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.
실험예 5
본 발명에 따른 비수 전해질의 저전압 억제 효과를 확인하기 위해, 삼전극 전지를 제작하여 철(Fe) 산화 정도를 평가하였다.
삼전극 전지는 작업 전극(working Electrode)으로 Fe 박막(1.0cmХ1.0cm), 상대 전극(Counter Electrode)으로 리튬 금속 전극, 기준 전극(Reference Electrode)으로 리튬 금속 전극을 사용하였으며, 상기와 같이 구성된 삼전극 전지에 실시예 1 및 비교예 1 ~ 2의 비수 전해질을 각각 주입하고, 60℃에서 5mV/sec의 스캔 속도로 2.5V에서 4.5V(vs Li/Li+)까지 전압을 올리면서 CV(Cyclic Voltammetry)를 측정하였다. 측정된 CV를 통해 온셋 전압(Onset Voltage)과 전류 적분값(Integration of Current)을 확인하고, 하기 [표 6]에 나타내었다.

상기 표 6에 나타난 바와 같이, 화학식 1-1의 첨가제를 포함하는 실시예 1의 비수 전해액을 사용할 경우, 첨가제를 포함하지 않은 비교예 1의 전해액을 사용한 경우와 비교하여, 산화 시작 전압을 의미하는 온셋 전압 값이 높고, 전류 적분값이 작게 나타나 Fe 산화가 적게 발생하였음을 알 수 있다. 이는 화학식 1-1의 첨가제 내의 프로파질 기가 Fe 표면에 흡착되어 Fe 산화를 억제하기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 한편, 프로파질기 대신 시아노기를 포함하는 화학식 A의 첨가제를 사용한 비교예 2의 비수 전해액을 사용한 경우에는 비교예 1과 비교하여 온셋 전압 및 전류 적분값의 변화가 적어 Fe 산화 억제 효과가 미미함을 확인할 수 있다.

Claims (10)

  1. 유기 용매; 리튬염; 및 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질.

    상기 [화학식 1]에서,
    R1 내지 R3은 각각 독립적으로 수소, 탄소수 1 ~ 10의 알킬기 또는 탄소수 1 ~ 10의 알콕시기임.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 R1 내지 R3는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 ~ 4의 알킬기인 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질.
  3. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 하기 화학식 1-1로 표시되는 화합물인 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질.

  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 상기 리튬 이차 전지용 전해질 100중량부에 대하여, 0.5 내지 5 중량부로 포함되는 것인 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질.
  5. 양극; 음극; 상기 양극 및 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막; 및 비수 전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지에 있어서,
    상기 비수 전해질이 청구항 1 내지 청구항 4 중 어느 한 항의 리튬 이차 전지용 비수 전해질인 리튬 이차 전지.
  6. 제5항에 있어서,
    상기 양극은 하기 [화학식 2]로 표시되는 양극 활물질을 포함하는 것인 리튬 이차 전지.

    상기 [화학식 2]에서,
    M1은 W, Cu, Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Zr, Zn, Al, In, Ta, Y, La, Sr, Ga, Sc, Gd, Sm, Ca, Ce, Nb, Mg, B, 및 Mo로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상의 원소이고,
    A는 F, Cl, Br, I, At 및 S로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 원소이며,
    1.0≤x≤1.30, 0.3≤y<1, 0<z≤0.6, 0<w≤0.6, 0≤v≤0.2, 0≤p≤0.2임.
  7. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 [화학식 2]에서, 0.6≤y<1, 0.01≤z<0.4, 0.01≤w<0.4인 리튬 이차 전지.
  8. 제5항에 있어서,
    상기 음극은 탄소계 음극 활물질을 포함하는 것인 리튬 이차 전지.
  9. 제5항에 있어서,
    상기 음극은 탄소계 음극 활물질 및 실리콘계 음극 활물질을 포함하는 것인 리튬 이차 전지.
  10. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 음극은 탄소계 음극 활물질 및 실리콘계 음극 활물질을 99 : 1 내지 50 : 50의 중량비율로 포함하는 것인 리튬 이차 전지.
