TheĀ NWĀ nodeĀ (e.g.,Ā aĀ baseĀ station)Ā mayĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ toĀ aĀ UEĀ inĀ specificĀ instances.Ā TheĀ baseĀ stationĀ mayĀ receiveĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ fromĀ aĀ CoreĀ NetworkĀ NodeĀ viaĀ anĀ interfaceĀ suchĀ asĀ aĀ S1Ā orĀ NG-CĀ interface,Ā forĀ example,Ā toĀ determineĀ whetherĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ canĀ beĀ supportedĀ byĀ aĀ UEĀ and/orĀ determineĀ toĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ toĀ UE.Ā InĀ theĀ interfaceĀ (e.g.,Ā S1Ā orĀ NG-C)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ canĀ beĀ includedĀ inĀ theĀ PagingĀ message,Ā orĀ togetherĀ withĀ otherĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ informationĀ inĀ InitialContextSetupRequest.
SinceĀ theĀ baseĀ stationĀ canĀ beĀ dividedĀ intoĀ aĀ CentralizedĀ UnitĀ (CU)Ā andĀ DistributedĀ UnitĀ (DU)Ā ,Ā aĀ PAGINGĀ messageĀ thatĀ canĀ includeĀ pagingĀ informationĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ fromĀ CUĀ toĀ DUĀ toĀ enableĀ DUĀ toĀ pageĀ theĀ UE.Ā TheĀ DUĀ mayĀ receiveĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ informationĀ fromĀ CUĀ viaĀ anĀ interface,Ā suchĀ asĀ aĀ F1Ā interface,Ā toĀ determineĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ canĀ beĀ supportedĀ byĀ aĀ UEĀ and/orĀ determineĀ whetherĀ toĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ toĀ UE.Ā InĀ theĀ F1Ā interface,Ā theĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ canĀ beĀ includedĀ inĀ theĀ PAGINGĀ message.
TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ monitorĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ toĀ receiveĀ pagingĀ inĀ aĀ cellĀ inĀ specificĀ instances.Ā TheĀ configurationĀ forĀ theĀ pagingĀ receptionĀ duringĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ canĀ beĀ includedĀ inĀ eitherĀ systemĀ informationĀ orĀ dedicatedĀ signaling.Ā ForĀ theĀ caseĀ inĀ whichĀ theĀ UEĀ isĀ releasedĀ toĀ INACTIVEĀ state,Ā theĀ configurationĀ forĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ anĀ additionalĀ POĀ canĀ beĀ includedĀ inĀ theĀ RRCĀ releaseĀ message.
ForĀ aĀ UEĀ inĀ anĀ RRC_INACTIVEĀ state,Ā theĀ UEĀ mayĀ onlyĀ needĀ toĀ monitorĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ toĀ receiveĀ pagingĀ ifĀ theĀ followingĀ conditionsĀ areĀ satisfied.Ā AĀ firstĀ conditionĀ mayĀ includeĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ configuredĀ inĀ theĀ RRCĀ releaseĀ messageĀ withĀ whichĀ theĀ UEĀ mayĀ moveĀ toĀ anĀ RRC_INACTIVEĀ state.Ā AĀ secondĀ conditionĀ mayĀ includeĀ theĀ configurationĀ ofĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ beingĀ broadcastedĀ inĀ systemĀ informationĀ ofĀ theĀ cellĀ inĀ whichĀ theĀ UEĀ isĀ camped.
TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ determineĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ usingĀ specificĀ techniques.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ determineĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ basedĀ onĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ beĀ locatedĀ offsetĀ afterĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ inĀ theĀ timeĀ domain.Ā TheĀ offsetĀ canĀ eitherĀ beĀ fixedĀ orĀ configurableĀ byĀ RRCĀ signalingĀ (e.g.Ā inĀ eitherĀ systemĀ informationĀ orĀ dedicatedĀ signaling)Ā .
TheĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ includeĀ aĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ supportedĀ byĀ aĀ legacyĀ standard,Ā andĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ determinedĀ byĀ aĀ formulaĀ specifiedĀ inĀ standard:
TheĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frameĀ (PF)Ā andĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (PO)Ā mayĀ beĀ determinedĀ byĀ theĀ followingĀ formula:
SFNĀ forĀ theĀ PFĀ isĀ determinedĀ by:
(SFNĀ +Ā PF_offset)Ā modĀ TĀ =Ā (TĀ divĀ N)Ā *Ā (UE_IDĀ modĀ N)
IndexĀ (i_s)Ā ,Ā indicatingĀ theĀ indexĀ ofĀ theĀ POĀ isĀ determinedĀ by:
i_s=Ā floorĀ (UE_ID/N)Ā modĀ Ns
TheĀ followingĀ parametersĀ areĀ usedĀ forĀ theĀ calculationĀ ofĀ PFĀ andĀ i_sabove:
T:Ā DRXĀ cycleĀ ofĀ theĀ UEĀ (TĀ isĀ determinedĀ byĀ theĀ shortestĀ ofĀ theĀ UEĀ specificĀ DRXĀ value,Ā ifĀ configuredĀ byĀ RRCĀ orĀ upperĀ layers,Ā andĀ aĀ defaultĀ DRXĀ valueĀ broadcastĀ inĀ systemĀ information.Ā IfĀ UEĀ specificĀ DRXĀ isĀ notĀ configuredĀ byĀ RRCĀ orĀ byĀ upperĀ layers,Ā theĀ defaultĀ valueĀ isĀ applied)Ā .
N:Ā numberĀ ofĀ totalĀ pagingĀ framesĀ inĀ T
Ns:Ā numberĀ ofĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ forĀ aĀ PF
PF_offset:Ā offsetĀ usedĀ forĀ PFĀ determination
UE_ID:Ā 5G-S-TMSIĀ modĀ 1024
TheĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ insideĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frameĀ areĀ determinedĀ accordingĀ toĀ pagingSearchSpaceĀ andĀ firstPDCCH-MonitoringOccasionOfPOĀ ifĀ configured.Ā Otherwise,Ā whenĀ SearchSpaceIdĀ =Ā 0Ā isĀ configuredĀ forĀ pagingSearchSpace,Ā theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ areĀ sameĀ asĀ theĀ locationĀ PDCCHĀ monitoringĀ occasionĀ forĀ RMSIĀ whichĀ isĀ specifiedĀ inĀ theĀ currentĀ specifications.Ā TheĀ UE_IDĀ mayĀ includeĀ theĀ 10Ā leastĀ significantĀ bitsĀ ofĀ 5G-S-TMSI,Ā whichĀ isĀ allocatedĀ byĀ theĀ servingĀ network.Ā PF_offset,Ā T,Ā N,Ā NsĀ andĀ areĀ allĀ configuredĀ byĀ theĀ servingĀ network.
TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ calculateĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ basedĀ onĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ UEĀ ID.Ā FromĀ aĀ baseĀ stationĀ (e.g.Ā eNBĀ orĀ gNB)Ā pointĀ ofĀ view,Ā theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ IDĀ canĀ beĀ eitherĀ fromĀ aĀ coreĀ networkĀ nodeĀ orĀ fromĀ theĀ UE.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ informĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ UEĀ IDĀ toĀ aĀ baseĀ stationĀ directly.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ informĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ UEĀ IDĀ toĀ theĀ CoreĀ Network,Ā andĀ CoreĀ NetworkĀ mayĀ informĀ theĀ baseĀ stationĀ (e.g.Ā eNBĀ orĀ gNB)Ā ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ UEĀ ID.Ā CoreĀ networkĀ mayĀ informĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ UEĀ IDĀ toĀ bothĀ UEĀ andĀ baseĀ stationĀ (e.g.Ā eNBĀ orĀ gNB)Ā .
InĀ someĀ embodiments,Ā theĀ offsetĀ mayĀ beĀ configurable.Ā InĀ aĀ firstĀ instance,Ā theĀ offsetĀ mayĀ beĀ givenĀ inĀ anyĀ ofĀ aĀ radioĀ frameĀ level,Ā slotĀ level,Ā orĀ aĀ symbolĀ levelĀ (e.g.Ā theĀ numberĀ ofĀ radioĀ framesĀ and/orĀ slotsĀ and/orĀ symbolsĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion)Ā .Ā InĀ aĀ secondĀ instance,Ā theĀ offsetĀ mayĀ beĀ givenĀ inĀ aĀ pagingĀ frameĀ levelĀ and/orĀ aĀ POĀ levelĀ (e.g.Ā theĀ numberĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ and/orĀ POsĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion)Ā .Ā InĀ aĀ thirdĀ instance,Ā aĀ radioĀ frameĀ levelĀ offsetĀ mayĀ beĀ providedĀ toĀ determineĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ radioĀ frame,Ā andĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ radioĀ frameĀ mayĀ beĀ theĀ sameĀ asĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frame.Ā InĀ aĀ fourthĀ instance,Ā aĀ pagingĀ frameĀ levelĀ offsetĀ mayĀ beĀ givenĀ toĀ determineĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ aĀ pagingĀ frame,Ā andĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ radioĀ frameĀ mayĀ beĀ theĀ sameĀ asĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frame.
TheĀ offsetĀ canĀ beĀ eitherĀ aĀ positiveĀ valueĀ (e.g.Ā additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ inĀ theĀ timeĀ domain)Ā orĀ aĀ negativeĀ valueĀ (e.g.Ā additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ beforeĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ inĀ theĀ timeĀ domain)Ā .
ZeroĀ orĀ oneĀ orĀ moreĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ mayĀ beĀ configured.Ā ForĀ theĀ caseĀ whenĀ moreĀ thanĀ oneĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ isĀ configured,Ā aĀ commonĀ offset,Ā anĀ offsetĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ firstĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion,Ā asĀ wellĀ asĀ theĀ offsetĀ betweenĀ twoĀ consecutiveĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ orĀ aĀ listĀ ofĀ offsets,Ā eachĀ ofĀ whichĀ isĀ theĀ offsetĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ oneĀ specificĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion,Ā canĀ beĀ given.Ā TheĀ numberĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ and/orĀ theĀ commonĀ offsetĀ orĀ aĀ listĀ ofĀ offsetsĀ canĀ beĀ fixedĀ inĀ specsĀ orĀ configurableĀ byĀ RRCĀ signalingĀ (e.g.Ā inĀ eitherĀ systemĀ informationĀ orĀ dedicatedĀ signaling)Ā .
TheĀ lengthĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ canĀ beĀ theĀ sameĀ asĀ orĀ differentĀ fromĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ lengthĀ ofĀ theĀ additionĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (e.g.Ā theĀ numberĀ ofĀ symbolsĀ orĀ slots)Ā canĀ beĀ eitherĀ beĀ fixedĀ inĀ specsĀ orĀ configurableĀ byĀ RRCĀ signalingĀ (e.g.Ā inĀ eitherĀ systemĀ informationĀ orĀ dedicatedĀ signaling)Ā .
BothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ secondĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ beĀ locatedĀ inĀ aĀ timeĀ domainĀ periodically.Ā TheĀ periodĀ forĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ secondĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ theĀ same.Ā Or,Ā inĀ someĀ embodiments,Ā theĀ periodĀ forĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ secondĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ canĀ beĀ configuredĀ separately.
ForĀ theĀ concernedĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ shallĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā IfĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ notĀ detectedĀ inĀ oneĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ associatedĀ withĀ theĀ UE,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ thenĀ assumeĀ thatĀ noĀ pagingĀ recordĀ willĀ beĀ transmittedĀ inĀ theĀ restĀ ofĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ associatedĀ withĀ theĀ UEĀ withinĀ theĀ sameĀ pagingĀ DRX.Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ isĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā Alternatively,Ā forĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ isĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.
FIG.Ā 1AĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 100aĀ ofĀ anĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ andĀ aĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ SFNĀ ofĀ theĀ PFĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =Ā 1Ā mayĀ beĀ determinedĀ by:Ā (SFNĀ +Ā PF_offset)Ā modĀ TĀ =Ā (TĀ divĀ N)Ā *Ā (UE_IDĀ modĀ N)Ā .Ā IndexĀ (i_s)Ā mayĀ indicateĀ theĀ indexĀ ofĀ theĀ PO,Ā whichĀ mayĀ beĀ determinedĀ by:Ā i_s=Ā floorĀ (UE_ID/N)Ā modĀ Ns.
TheĀ followingĀ parametersĀ areĀ usedĀ forĀ theĀ calculationĀ ofĀ PFĀ andĀ i_s:Ā T:Ā DRXĀ cycleĀ ofĀ theĀ UE.Ā N:Ā numberĀ ofĀ totalĀ pagingĀ framesĀ inĀ T.Ā Ns:Ā numberĀ ofĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ forĀ aĀ PF.Ā PF_offset:Ā offsetĀ usedĀ forĀ PFĀ determination.
TheĀ PDCCHĀ monitoringĀ occasionsĀ forĀ pagingĀ mayĀ beĀ determinedĀ accordingĀ toĀ pagingSearchSpaceĀ andĀ firstPDCCH-MonitoringOccasionOfPO,Ā ifĀ configured.

TheĀ SettingĀ Monitoring-periodicity-PDCCH-slotĀ mayĀ equalĀ 1Ā andĀ Monitoring-offset-PDCCH-slotĀ mayĀ equalĀ 0,Ā whichĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ correspondingĀ TSĀ 38.331Ā parameterĀ monitoringSlotPeriodicityAndOffsetĀ mayĀ containĀ theĀ parameterĀ sl1Ā setĀ toĀ aĀ NULLĀ value.Ā TheĀ Monitoring-symbols-PDCCH-within-slotĀ parameterĀ mayĀ beĀ aĀ 14Ā bitsĀ longĀ bitmap/bitĀ string.Ā EachĀ bitĀ inĀ thisĀ bitĀ stringĀ mayĀ representĀ anĀ OFDMĀ symbolĀ inĀ aĀ slot.Ā AĀ bitĀ setĀ toĀ oneĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ OFDMĀ slotĀ isĀ aĀ potentialĀ OFDMĀ slotĀ toĀ monitor.Ā ThisĀ valueĀ mayĀ beĀ assignedĀ toĀ theĀ correspondingĀ TSĀ 38.331Ā parameterĀ monitoringSymbolsWithinSlot.
AĀ networkĀ nodeĀ mayĀ receiveĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ informationĀ fromĀ aĀ coreĀ networkĀ nodeĀ usingĀ anyĀ ofĀ aĀ S1Ā orĀ NG-CĀ interfaceĀ andĀ determineĀ toĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =Ā 1.
TheĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ beĀ locatedĀ offsetĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ NWĀ mayĀ includeĀ aĀ configurationĀ forĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion,Ā whichĀ mayĀ beĀ theĀ offsetĀ inĀ aĀ POĀ levelĀ andĀ providesĀ toĀ UEĀ viaĀ systemĀ information.
TheĀ POĀ levelĀ offsetĀ ā+Ā 0āĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ toĀ UEĀ viaĀ systemĀ information.Ā TheĀ offsetĀ ā+0āĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ thereĀ isĀ noĀ POĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ includeĀ theĀ POĀ rightĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion)Ā .
FIG.Ā 1BĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 100bĀ ofĀ aĀ firstĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ andĀ anĀ offsetĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā AsĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 1B,Ā inĀ additionĀ toĀ theĀ PO# 1,Ā anĀ additionalĀ POĀ (PO#2)Ā rightĀ afterĀ PO# 1Ā mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ asĀ theĀ additionĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =1.Ā ForĀ theĀ relevantĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (PO#1)Ā andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (PO#2)Ā .Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ mayĀ beĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ beginĀ toĀ monitorĀ pagingĀ fromĀ anotherĀ cellĀ afterĀ receivingĀ pagingĀ fromĀ oneĀ cellĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ orĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.
FIG.Ā 1CĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 100cĀ ofĀ aĀ secondĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ andĀ anĀ offsetĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā Similarly,Ā asĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 1C,Ā theĀ POĀ levelĀ offsetĀ ā+1āĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ toĀ theĀ UE,Ā whichĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (PO#1)Ā andĀ thereĀ isĀ oneĀ POĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā InĀ additionĀ toĀ theĀ PO# 1,Ā anĀ additionalĀ POĀ (PO#3)Ā mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ asĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =1.Ā ForĀ theĀ relevantĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ mayĀ beĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ startĀ toĀ monitorĀ pagingĀ fromĀ anotherĀ cellĀ afterĀ receivingĀ pagingĀ fromĀ oneĀ cellĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ orĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.
FIG.Ā 2AĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 200aĀ ofĀ anĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ andĀ aĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā InĀ aĀ secondĀ exampleĀ embodiment,Ā theĀ networkĀ mayĀ receiveĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ informationĀ fromĀ aĀ coreĀ networkĀ viaĀ aĀ S1Ā orĀ NG-CĀ interfaceĀ andĀ determineĀ toĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =Ā 1.Ā TheĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ beĀ locatedĀ offsetĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ NWĀ mayĀ includeĀ aĀ configurationĀ forĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ whichĀ isĀ theĀ offsetĀ inĀ symbolĀ levelĀ inĀ theĀ RRCReleaseĀ messageĀ andĀ mayĀ sendĀ toĀ theĀ UEĀ toĀ releaseĀ itĀ intoĀ RRC_INACTIVEĀ state.
FIG.Ā 2BĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 200bĀ ofĀ aĀ firstĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ andĀ aĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withĀ aĀ symbolĀ levelĀ offset.Ā TheĀ symbolĀ levelĀ offsetĀ ā+Ā 2āĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ toĀ theĀ UEĀ viaĀ RRCReleaseĀ message.Ā TheĀ offsetĀ ā+2āĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ thereĀ isĀ twoĀ OFDMĀ symbolsĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā AsĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 2B,Ā inĀ additionĀ toĀ theĀ PO# 1,Ā anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withĀ theĀ sameĀ lengthĀ asĀ theĀ POĀ calculatedĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ asĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =1.Ā ForĀ theĀ relevantĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ mayĀ beĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ startĀ toĀ monitorĀ pagingĀ fromĀ anotherĀ cellĀ ifĀ theĀ UEĀ finishesĀ monitoringĀ bothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withoutĀ receivingĀ anyĀ pagingĀ record.
FIG.Ā 2CĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 200cĀ ofĀ aĀ secondĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ andĀ aĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withĀ aĀ symbolĀ levelĀ offset.Ā Similarly,Ā asĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 2C,Ā theĀ symbolĀ levelĀ offsetĀ ā+12āĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ toĀ theĀ UE,Ā whichĀ indicatesĀ thatĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ calculatedĀ POĀ andĀ thereĀ mayĀ beĀ twelveĀ symbolsĀ betweenĀ theĀ POĀ calculatedĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā InĀ additionĀ toĀ theĀ PO# 1,Ā anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ asĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =1.Ā ForĀ theĀ concernedĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ isĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ startĀ toĀ monitorĀ pagingĀ fromĀ anotherĀ cellĀ ifĀ UEĀ finishĀ monitoringĀ bothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withoutĀ receivingĀ anyĀ pagingĀ record.
FIG.Ā 3AĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 300aĀ ofĀ anĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ frames.Ā TheĀ DUĀ mayĀ receiveĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ fromĀ CUĀ throughĀ aĀ F1Ā interfaceĀ andĀ determineĀ toĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =Ā 1.Ā TheĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ mayĀ beĀ locatedĀ offsetĀ afterĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ networkĀ mayĀ includeĀ aĀ configurationĀ forĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion,Ā whichĀ isĀ theĀ offsetĀ inĀ pagingĀ frameĀ levelĀ inĀ theĀ RRCReleaseĀ messageĀ andĀ mayĀ sendĀ itĀ toĀ UEĀ toĀ releaseĀ itĀ intoĀ RRC_INACTIVEĀ state.Ā TheĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ frameĀ mayĀ beĀ theĀ sameĀ asĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ inĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frame.
FIG.Ā 3BĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 300bĀ ofĀ aĀ firstĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ withĀ aĀ commonĀ offset.Ā AsĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 3B,Ā twoĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionsĀ mayĀ beĀ configured.Ā AĀ commonĀ PFĀ levelĀ offsetĀ ā+Ā 0āĀ mayĀ beĀ configuredĀ toĀ aĀ UEĀ viaĀ RRCReleaseĀ message.Ā TheĀ commonĀ offsetĀ ā+0āĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ firstĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ thereĀ isĀ oneĀ PFĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ firstĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ whileĀ theĀ secondĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ thereĀ isĀ oneĀ PFĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ andĀ theĀ secondĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā ForĀ theĀ relevantĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasions.Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ isĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasions.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ startĀ toĀ monitorĀ pagingĀ fromĀ anotherĀ cellĀ afterĀ receivingĀ pagingĀ fromĀ oneĀ cellĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ orĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasions.
FIG.Ā 3CĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 300cĀ ofĀ secondĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ framesĀ withĀ aĀ offset.Ā Similarly,Ā asĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 3C,Ā anĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ configured.Ā TheĀ PFĀ levelĀ offsetĀ ā+3āĀ mayĀ indicateĀ thatĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ isĀ afterĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ thereĀ mayĀ beĀ threeĀ PFsĀ betweenĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā ForĀ theĀ relevantĀ UE,Ā anĀ identicalĀ pagingĀ recordĀ mayĀ beĀ sentĀ onĀ bothĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ andĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā ForĀ eachĀ pagingĀ DRXĀ cycle,Ā onceĀ theĀ correspondingĀ pagingĀ recordĀ isĀ receivedĀ onĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ (i.e.,Ā theĀ correspondingĀ PagingUE-IdentityĀ isĀ foundĀ inĀ theĀ pagingĀ record)Ā ,Ā theĀ UEĀ canĀ ignore/skipĀ theĀ receptionĀ ofĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ UEĀ mayĀ startĀ toĀ monitorĀ pagingĀ fromĀ anotherĀ cellĀ afterĀ receivingĀ pagingĀ fromĀ oneĀ cellĀ onĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ orĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā FIG.Ā 3DĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 300dĀ ofĀ anĀ exampleĀ pagingĀ frameĀ andĀ pagingĀ occasion.Ā TheĀ structureĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ frameĀ andĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ frameĀ mayĀ beĀ shownĀ inĀ FIG.Ā 3D,Ā whichĀ mayĀ beĀ theĀ sameĀ asĀ theĀ structureĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frameĀ andĀ theĀ locationĀ ofĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ withinĀ theĀ firstĀ pagingĀ frame
FIG.Ā 4AĀ illustratesĀ aĀ blockĀ diagramĀ 400aĀ ofĀ anĀ exampleĀ seriesĀ ofĀ pagingĀ frames.Ā TheĀ networkĀ mayĀ receiveĀ UEĀ capabilityĀ fromĀ theĀ CoreĀ NetworkĀ throughĀ S1Ā orĀ NG-CĀ interfaceĀ andĀ mayĀ determineĀ toĀ sendĀ aĀ pagingĀ messageĀ onĀ additionalĀ pagingĀ occasionĀ forĀ UE_IDĀ =Ā 1.
