 本発明は、回転機械の軸封や軸受に用いられる摺動部品に関する。
 回転機械において回転軸周辺の被密封流体の漏れを防止する摺動部品として、例えば相対回転し摺動面同士が摺動する一対の環状の摺動環からなるメカニカルシールが知られている。このようなメカニカルシールにおいては、近年、環境対策等のために摺動により失われるエネルギーの低減が望まれており、摺動環の摺動面に被密封液体側に連通するとともに摺動面において一端が閉塞する正圧発生溝を設けているものがある。
 例えば、特許文献1に示されるメカニカルシールは、一方の摺動環の摺動面において、径方向に延び被密封液体側に連通し漏れ側に連通しない流体導出入溝と、該流体導出入溝に連通して相対回転方向に延設される正圧発生溝とから構成される正圧発生機構が、ランド部を介し周方向に複数設けられている。これによれば、摺動環の相対回転時には、被密封流体が流体導出入溝を経て正圧発生溝に導入され、正圧発生溝の相対回転方向の端部の壁部に被密封流体が集中して正圧が発生して摺動面同士が離間するとともに、摺動面に被密封流体の流体膜が形成されることで潤滑性が向上し、低摩擦化を実現している。

 特許文献1のメカニカルシールにあっては、一対の摺動環の相対回転摺動に追従して正圧発生溝内の被密封流体が相対回転方向の端部に向けて移動することにより、被密封流体側の空間から流体導出入溝を通じて正圧発生溝内に被密封流体が連続的に供給されるようになっている。しかしながら、特許文献1のようなメカニカルシールにあっては、流体導出入溝の底面と摺動環における被密封流体側の周面とで形成される角部が直角に形成されているため、被密封流体側の空間から流体導出入溝に被密封流体が導入される際にこの角部近傍で渦が生じやすく、被密封流体が流体導出入溝内に有効に導入されず、流体導出入溝内の被密封流体が減少する虞があった。
 本発明は、このような問題点に着目してなされたもので、溝と連通する空間との間で流体が導入または導出されやすい摺動部品を提供することを目的とする。

 一方の摺動環の摺動面には、前記被密封流体側および前記漏れ側の少なくとも一方の空間に開口する溝が設けられており、
 前記一対の摺動環の少なくとも一方における前記溝が設けられている側の空間側の縁部には、前記一方の摺動環の前記溝と前記他方の摺動環との間に形成される流体空間に連通し、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に向けて拡開された傾斜面が設けられている。
 これによれば、溝が設けられている側の空間側に向けて拡開された傾斜面に沿って流体が、溝が設けられている側の空間から流体空間に、または流体空間から溝が設けられている側の空間にスムーズに移動するため、流体空間と溝が設けられている側の空間との間で流体が導入または導出されやすい。
 前記溝は、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に開口する流体導出入溝と、前記流体導出入溝に連通して周方向に延設される動圧発生溝と、を備え、
 前記流体導出入溝は前記動圧発生溝よりも深くなっていてもよい。
 これによれば、流体導出入溝に十分に流体を保持できるため、動圧発生溝が貧潤滑になることを防止できる。
 前記溝は、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に開口する流体導出入溝と、前記流体導出入溝に連通して周方向に延設される動圧発生溝と、を備え、
 前記流体導出入溝と前記動圧発生溝とは同じ深さとなっていてもよい。
 これによれば、流体導出入溝と動圧発生溝との間で円滑に流体を流すことができる。
 前記傾斜面は、前記一方の摺動環に設けられていてもよい。
 これによれば、一対の摺動環の摺動状態に関わらず、傾斜面と流体空間との連通状態を常に一定に維持できる。
 前記流体導出入溝の底面と前記傾斜面とが鈍角を成していてもよい。
 これによれば、傾斜面と流体導出入溝の底面との境界部分で渦が生じにくい。
 前記一方の摺動環には、前記傾斜面と、前記傾斜面の周方向両端縁から立ち上がる側面と、により傾斜溝が形成されており、
 前記一方または他方の摺動環における前記溝が設けられている側の空間側の縁部には、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に向けて拡開された拡開面が形成されており、
 前記拡開面により区画され周方向に延びて形成される連通空間は前記傾斜溝に連通していてもよい。
 これによれば、傾斜溝に対して径方向と周方向とから被密封流体を導入または導出できる。
 前記流体導出入溝は内径側の空間に連通しており、
 前記動圧発生溝の最外径の位置は前記流体導出入溝の最外径の位置よりも外径側に位置していてもよい。
 これによれば、動圧発生溝と流体導出入溝との連通領域を大きく確保できる。
 前記流体導出入溝は外径側の空間に連通しており、
 前記動圧発生溝の最内径の位置は前記流体導出入溝の最内径の位置よりも内径側に位置していてもよい。
 これによれば、動圧発生溝と流体導出入溝との連通領域を大きく確保できる。
 前記動圧発生溝は前記流体導出入溝の周方向両側に設けられており、該動圧発生溝同士は連通していてもよい。
 これによれば、流体導出入溝の周方向両側の動圧発生溝同士が連通していることから、連通部分およびその周辺に発生するキャビテーションによって流体が他方の空間側に漏れにくくなっている。
 前記流体導出入溝は前記被密封流体側の空間に連通しており、前記一方または他方の摺動環の摺動面には、前記漏れ側の空間に連通し、前記被密封流体側の空間に連通しないスパイラル溝が設けられていてもよい。
 これによれば、一対の摺動環の相対回転時には、動圧発生溝とスパイラル溝とにより摺動面同士を離間させるとともに、摺動面間に被密封流体と漏れ側流体とで流体膜を形成できるため、摺動面間の潤滑性が向上する。
 前記一方の摺動環における前記漏れ側の縁部には、前記スパイラル溝と他方の摺動環との間に形成される別の流体空間に連通し、前記漏れ側の空間に向けて拡開された別の傾斜面が設けられていてもよい。
 これによれば、別の傾斜面に沿って漏れ側流体が別の流体空間にスムーズに導入または導出される。
 前記被密封流体は液体であり、前記漏れ側の流体は気体であってもよい。
 これによれば、一対の摺動環が低速回転時には、液体により摺動面間の潤滑を行い、高速回転時には気体により摺動面間の潤滑を行うことができる。
 前記溝は、径方向長さよりも周方向長さが長い帯状の開口溝であり、該開口溝の少なくとも一部に、周方向に沿って前記溝が設けられている側の空間側に開放する開口部が形成されていてもよい。
 これによれば、開口溝に形成された開口部は周方向に沿って開口しており、その開口部から溝が設けられている側の空間側の流体が溝内に取り込まれるので、摺動部品の相対回転数が高まっても、開口部から溝が設けられている側の空間側の流体を溝内に多く取り込み、摺動面間に所望の正圧を発生させることができる。
 前記開口溝は、前記開口部が形成され周方向に延びる第1溝部と、前記第1溝部の下流側端部から径方向成分をもって延設されその端部が閉塞された第2溝部と、を有していてもよい。
 これによれば、溝が設けられている側の空間側からより離間した他方の空間側に溝が設けられている側の空間側の流体を導入可能となるため、他方の空間側の流体の溝が設けられている側の空間側への移動を抑制することができる。
 前記第2溝部は、径方向成分をもって延設された傾斜部と、前記傾斜部から周方向に延びる延設部と、から構成されていてもよい。
 これによれば、傾斜部により第2溝部内への溝が設けられている側の空間側の流体の導入効率を向上させることができるとともに、延設部により第1溝部よりも径方向にずれた位置で正圧を生じさせることができる。
 前記開口溝は、径方向に延びる線を基準として線対称に形成されていてもよい。
 これによれば、摺動部品の相対回転方向に限られず使用できる。

 本発明に係る摺動部品を実施するための形態を実施例に基づいて以下に説明する。
 実施例1に係る摺動部品としてのメカニカルシールにつき、図1から図4を参照して説明する。尚、本実施例においては、メカニカルシールの内空間S1に被密封流体Fが存在し、外空間S2に大気Aが存在しており、メカニカルシールを構成する摺動環の内径側を被密封流体側(高圧側)、外径側を漏れ側(低圧側)として説明する。また、説明の便宜上、図面において、摺動面に形成される溝等にドットを付すこともある。
 図1に示されるメカニカルシールは、摺動面の内径側から外径側に向かって漏れようとする内空間S1内の被密封流体Fを密封し外空間S2が大気Aに通ずるアウトサイド形のものである。尚、本実施例では、被密封流体Fが高圧の液体であり、大気Aが被密封流体Fよりも低圧の気体である形態を例示する。
 メカニカルシールは、他方の摺動環としての回転密封環20と、一方の摺動環としての静止密封環10と、から主に構成されている。回転密封環20は円環状をなし、回転軸1にスリーブ2を介して回転軸1と共に回転可能な状態で設けられている。静止密封環10は円環状をなし、被取付機器のハウジング4に固定されたシールカバー5に非回転状態かつ軸方向に移動可能な状態で設けられている。弾性部材7によって静止密封環10が軸方向に付勢されることにより、静止密封環10の摺動面11と回転密封環20の摺動面21とが互いに密接摺動するようになっている。尚、回転密封環20の摺動面21は平坦面となっており、この平坦面には溝等の凹み部が設けられていない。
 静止密封環10及び回転密封環20は、代表的にはSiC(硬質材料)同士またはSiC(硬質材料)とカーボン(軟質材料)の組み合わせで形成されるが、これに限らず、摺動材料はメカニカルシール用摺動材料として使用されているものであれば適用可能である。尚、SiCとしては、ボロン、アルミニウム、カーボン等を焼結助剤とした焼結体をはじめ、成分、組成の異なる2種類以上の相からなる材料、例えば、黒鉛粒子の分散したSiC、SiCとSiからなる反応焼結SiC、SiC-TiC、SiC-TiN等があり、カーボンとしては、炭素質と黒鉛質の混合したカーボンをはじめ、樹脂成形カーボン、焼結カーボン等が利用できる。また、上記摺動材料以外では、金属材料、樹脂材料、表面改質材料(コーティング材料)、複合材料等も適用可能である。
 図2及び図3に示されるように、静止密封環10に対して相手側密封環である回転密封環20が実線矢印で示すように時計周りに相対摺動するようになっている。
 静止密封環10の摺動面11には、複数の動圧発生機構13が設けられている。動圧発生機構13は摺動面11の内径側において周方向に均等に配設(本実施例では8個)されている。
 また、摺動面11における動圧発生機構13以外の部分は同一平面上に配置された平坦面を成すランド12となっている。ランド12の平坦面が回転密封環20の摺動面21と実質的に摺動する摺動面として機能している。
 また、静止密封環10における内空間S1側の縁部10eには、複数の傾斜溝61(図4参照)及び拡開面17が設けられている。言い換えれば、静止密封環10の摺動面11よりも内径側の縁部10eには、複数の傾斜溝61及び拡開面17が設けられている。拡開面17は、摺動面11よりも内径側の縁部10eにおいて周方向に隣り合う傾斜溝61同士の間に配設(本実施例では8個)されている。また、拡開面17は、いわゆる面取りされた形状をなしている。また、傾斜溝61は、動圧発生機構13の後述する流体導出入溝14と連続して延びている。
 また、拡開面17は、ランド12の平坦面から静止密封環10の内周面10gに向けて漸次深くなるように傾斜するテーパ面である(図4参照)。尚、拡開面17は、凹凸を有していてもよいが、平坦面であることが好ましい。
 図3に示されるように、動圧発生機構13は、流体導出入溝としての流体導出入溝14と、動圧発生溝としてのレイリーステップ15と、から構成されている。流体導出入溝14は内空間S1に連通して外空間S2に連通しないように径方向に延びている。レイリーステップ15は流体導出入溝14の外径側から時計回り方向に静止密封環10と同心状に周方向に延びている。
 図4(a)に示されるように、流体導出入溝14の深さD1は、レイリーステップ15の深さD2よりも深く形成されている(D1>D2)。尚、レイリーステップ15は、円弧状に延びるものに限らず、直線状に延びるものであってもよい。またレイリーステップ15は、静止密封環10と同心状に設けられるものに限られず、周方向に傾斜していてもよい。
 図3及び図4(a)(b)に示されるように、流体導出入溝14は、底面14aと、側面14b,14cと、外径側の端面14dと、から構成されている。底面14aはランド12の平坦面と平行に径方向に延びている。側面14b,14cは底面14aの周方向両端縁から立ち上がっている。外径側の端面14dは、底面14aの外径端から立ち上がり、側面14b,14cに直交連結している。側面14bにはレイリーステップ15に連通する開口14Aが形成されている。また、流体導出入溝14の内径側には、内空間S1に連通する開口14Bが形成されている。
 流体導出入溝14の底面14aの内径側の端縁14gには、内径側に延びる傾斜面6が連続して設けられている。詳しくは、傾斜面6は、流体導出入溝14の底面14aの内径側の端縁14gから静止密封環10の内周面10gに向かうにつれて深さが深くなるように、言い換えると回転密封環20の摺動面21との距離が遠ざかるように、傾斜して直線状に延びている。また、傾斜面6は拡開面17と平行である。
 流体導出入溝14の底面14aと傾斜面6とは鈍角を成している。尚、本実施例では、流体導出入溝14の底面14aと傾斜面6とが鈍角を成す形態を例示するが、これに限られず、底面14aと傾斜面6との境界は曲面によって連続していてもよい。また、底面14aと傾斜面6との境界部分近傍の一部に小さな段差が形成されていてもよい。
 すなわち、傾斜面6は、流体導出入溝14と回転密封環20の摺動面21との間に形成される流体空間としての第1流体導出入空間S10に連続し、内空間S1側に向けて回転密封環20から離れる方向すなわち流体導出入溝14の深さ方向(以降回転密封環20から離れる距離を単に「深さ」、その方向を「深さ方向」ということもある。)に拡開している。尚、傾斜面6は、平坦面であることが好ましい。
 傾斜面6と拡開面17との間は、傾斜面6の周方向両端縁から立ち上がる側面19b,19cにより連結されている。側面19b,19cは、流体導出入溝14の側面14b,14cと径方向に連続している。
 すなわち、静止密封環10における内空間S1側の縁部10eには、傾斜面6、側面19b,19cで囲まれた傾斜溝61が形成されている。第1流体導出入空間S10は傾斜溝61を通じて内空間S1に連通されている。
 また、周方向に隣接する傾斜溝61は、連通空間S11により連通している。連通空間S11は拡開面17と回転密封環20の内径側端部との間に形成されている。
 次いで、静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転時の動作について図3および図4を用いて説明する。尚、図3の被密封流体Fや大気Aの流れについては、回転密封環20の相対回転速度を特定せずに概略的に示している。
 まず、回転密封環20が回転していない停止時には、被密封流体Fが流体導出入溝14内に流入している。尚、弾性部材7によって静止密封環10が回転密封環20側に付勢されているので摺動面11,21同士は接触状態となっており、摺動面11,21間の被密封流体Fが外空間S2に漏れ出す量はほぼない。
 図3に示されるように、回転密封環20が静止密封環10に対して相対回転した状態においては、レイリーステップ15内の被密封流体Fが摺動面21とのせん断により回転密封環20の回転方向に追随移動することにより、内空間S1の被密封流体Fが傾斜溝61を通じて流体導出入溝14に引き込まれる。すなわち、流体導出入溝14内では、被密封流体Fが矢印H1に示すように流体導出入溝14からレイリーステップ15における相対回転方向の下流側の端部15Aに向かって移動する。
 レイリーステップ15の端部15Aに向かって移動した被密封流体Fは、レイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で圧力が高められる。すなわちレイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で正圧が発生する。
 レイリーステップ15の深さD2は浅いため、回転密封環20の回転速度が低速につき被密封流体Fの移動量が少なくてもレイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍にて正圧が発生する。
 また、レイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で発生した正圧による力により、摺動面11,21間が若干離間される。これにより、摺動面11,21間には、主に矢印H2に示す動圧発生機構13内の被密封流体Fが流入する。このように摺動面11,21間に被密封流体Fが介在することにより低速回転時においても潤滑性が向上し、摺動面11,21同士の摩耗を抑制することができる。尚、摺動面11,21同士の浮上距離が僅かであるため、外空間S2に漏れ出す被密封流体Fは少ない。
 また、流体導出入溝14の深さD1は、レイリーステップ15の深さD2よりも深く形成されており、流体導出入溝14には被密封流体Fを多量に保持することができる。
 また、図4に示されるように、流体導出入溝14の底面14aの内径側には、深さ方向に拡開するように傾斜する傾斜面6が連続して設けられている。これにより、流体導出入溝14よりも深い位置から径方向に流れ込んだ被密封流体Fは傾斜面6に沿って第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給されるため、第1流体導出入空間S10内に被密封流体Fが導入されやすく、第1流体導出入空間S10内の被密封流体Fが減少することを抑制できる。言い換えれば、流体導出入溝14の底面14aと傾斜面6との間で渦が発生しにくくなっている。すなわち、低速回転時に摺動面11,21間が貧潤滑となることを回避できる。
 また、流体導出入溝14の底面14aと傾斜面6とは鈍角を成しているため、底面14aと傾斜面6との境界部分、すなわち端縁14gの近傍で渦が生じにくく、被密封流体Fは傾斜面6から第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給される。
 また、傾斜面6は、流体導出入溝14の底面14aに連続して設けられている。すなわち、傾斜面6は、流体導出入溝14が設けられた静止密封環10に設けられているため、静止密封環10と回転密封環20の周方向や軸方向の相対位置に関わらず、傾斜面6と流体導出入溝14との連通状態を常に一定に維持できる。
 また、傾斜溝61は周方向に離間して複数設けられており、隣り合う傾斜溝61は連通空間S11により周方向に連通されているため、傾斜溝61に対して径方向(図3の矢印H1参照)と周方向(図3の矢印H3参照)から被密封流体Fを導入できる。
 また、静止密封環10に拡開面17を研磨等により環状に形成した後、動圧発生機構13をレーザ等により加工すればよいため、静止密封環10の製造が簡便である。
 また、傾斜溝61は、側面19b,19cを有しているため、傾斜溝61内に導入された被密封流体Fは第1流体導出入空間S10に向けて径方向に誘導される。
 また、拡開面17により流体導出入溝14の内径側にエッジが形成されないため、相対回転摺動時に流体導出入溝14の内径側の端部が破損することを回避できる。
 尚、本実施例では、拡開面17が周方向に隣接する傾斜溝61間に亘って延びている形態を例示したが、拡開面は周方向の途中で途切れていてもよい。
 次に、実施例2に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図5及び図6を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 実施例2のメカニカルシールは実施例1のメカニカルシールと同一構成であり、回転密封環20の回転方向が異なる。図5に示されるように、静止密封環10に対して回転密封環20が実線矢印で示すように反時計周りに相対摺動するようになっている。
 図5に示されるように、回転密封環20が静止密封環10に対して相対回転した状態においては、レイリーステップ15内の被密封流体Fが摺動面21とのせん断により回転密封環20の回転方向に追随移動する。これにより、レイリーステップ15内の被密封流体Fが矢印H1’に示すように流体導出入溝14に移動し、内空間S1に排出される。また、流体導出入溝14内の被密封流体Fの一部は、矢印H3’に示すように相対回転下流側の拡開面17に排出される。
 レイリーステップ15の被密封流体Fが流体導出入溝14に移動することにより、レイリーステップ15内は相対的に負圧となる。特に、レイリーステップ15の端部15Aで最も圧力が低くなる。そのため、端部15Aの近傍における摺動面11,21間の被密封流体Fをレイリーステップ15内に回収することができるとともに、負圧による力により摺動面11,21間を近接させることができる。
 また、図6に示されるように、レイリーステップ15から流体導出入溝14に移動した被密封流体Fの一部は、底面14aに沿って内空間S1に排出され、その他の一部は傾斜面6に沿って内空間S1にスムーズに排出される。
 次に、実施例3に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図7~図9を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例3の静止密封環10’の摺動面11には、複数の動圧発生機構13と、複数のスパイラル溝16と、が設けられている。動圧発生機構13は実施例1のメカニカルシールと同一構成である。
 スパイラル溝16は摺動面11の外径側において周方向に均等に配設(本実施例では48個)されている。
 また、静止密封環10’における外空間S2側の縁部10e’には、複数の傾斜溝81(図9参照)及び拡開面18が設けられている。言い換えれば、静止密封環10’の摺動面11よりも外径側の縁部10e’には、複数の傾斜溝81及び拡開面18が設けられている。
 拡開面18は、摺動面11よりも外径側の縁部10e’において周方向に隣り合う傾斜溝81同士の間に配設(本実施例では48個)されている。また、拡開面18はいわゆる面取りされた形状をなしている。また、傾斜溝81は、スパイラル溝16と連続して延びている。
 また、摺動面11における動圧発生機構13及びスパイラル溝16以外の部分は平坦面を成すランド12となっている。詳しくは、ランド12は、周方向に隣接する動圧発生機構13の間のランド部と、周方向に隣接するスパイラル溝16の間のランド部と、径方向に離間する動圧発生機構13とスパイラル溝16との間のランド部と、を有し、これら各ランド部は、同一平面状に配置されランド12の平坦面を構成している。
 拡開面18は、ランド12の平坦面から静止密封環10’の外周面に向けて漸次深くなるように傾斜するテーパ面である(図9参照)。尚、拡開面18は、凹凸を有していてもよいが、平坦面であることが好ましい。
 図8に戻って、スパイラル溝16は、外径側から内径側に向けて時計回りの成分を持って傾斜しながら円弧状に延びている。このスパイラル溝16は、外空間S2に連通して内空間S1に連通しないようになっている。
 スパイラル溝16は、周方向に一定の深さに形成されている。尚、スパイラル溝16は、傾斜しながら円弧状に延びるものに限らず、直線状に延びるものであってもよい。
 図8及び図9に示されるように、スパイラル溝16は、底面16aと、側面16b,16cと、端面16dと、から構成されている。底面16aはランド12の平坦面と平行に径方向に延びている。側面16b,16cは底面16aの周方向両端縁から立ち上がっている。端面16dは底面16aと側面16b,16cとの内径端同士を連結している。スパイラル溝16の外径側には、外空間S2に連通する開口16Aが形成されている。
 スパイラル溝16の底面16aの外径側の端縁には、拡開面18と平行に外径側に延びる別の傾斜面8が連続して設けられている。詳しくは、別の傾斜面8は、スパイラル溝16の底面16aの外径側の端縁16gから静止密封環10’の外周面に向けて深さ方向に傾斜して直線状に延びている。スパイラル溝16の底面16aと傾斜面8とは鈍角を成している。
 すなわち、傾斜面8は、スパイラル溝16と回転密封環20の摺動面21との間に形成される別の流体空間としての第2流体導出入空間S12に連続し、外空間S2側に向けて拡開している。尚、傾斜面8は、凹凸や曲面を有していてもよいが、平坦面であることが好ましい。
 傾斜面8と拡開面18との間は、傾斜面8の周方向両端縁から立ち上がり側面16b,16cと径方向に連続する側面9b,9cと、により連結されている。
 すなわち、静止密封環10’における外空間S2側の縁部10e’には、傾斜面8、側面9b,9cで囲まれた傾斜溝81が形成されている。スパイラル溝16は傾斜溝61を通じて外空間S2に連通されている。
 また、周方向に隣接する傾斜溝81は、連通空間S13により連通している。連通空間S13は拡開面18と回転密封環20との間に形成されている。
 次いで、静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転時の動作について図8及び図9を用いて説明する。尚、図3及び図4も参照して説明する。尚、図8の被密封流体Fや大気Aの流れについては、回転密封環20の相対回転速度を特定せずに概略的に示している。また、図4では静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転低速時を示し、図9では静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転高速時を示している。
 まず、回転密封環20が回転していない停止時には、被密封流体Fが流体導出入溝14内に流入している。尚、弾性部材7によって静止密封環10が回転密封環20側に付勢されているので摺動面11,21同士は接触状態となっており、摺動面11,21間の被密封流体Fが外空間S2に漏れ出す量はほぼない。
 図3に示されるように、回転密封環20が静止密封環10に対して相対回転し始めた直後の低速時においては、前述のようにレイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で正圧が発生する。
 一方、スパイラル溝16においては、回転密封環20と静止密封環10との相対回転低速時には、大気Aがスパイラル溝16内において十分に密とならず高い正圧は発生せず、スパイラル溝16によって発生される正圧による力は、レイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で発生した正圧による力よりも相対的に小さい。よって、回転密封環20の低速回転時では、レイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で発生した正圧による力が主体となって摺動面11,21同士を離間させるようになっている。
 回転密封環20の相対回転速度が高まると、図8に示されるように、スパイラル溝16内の大気Aが摺動面21とのせん断により回転密封環20の回転方向に追随移動するとともに、外空間S2の大気Aがスパイラル溝16に引き込まれる。すなわち、スパイラル溝16内では、多量の大気Aが矢印L1に示すように外径側の開口16Aから内径側の端部16Bに向かって移動する。
 スパイラル溝16の内径側の端部16Bに向かって移動した大気Aは、スパイラル溝16の内径側の端部16B及びその近傍で圧力が高められる。すなわちスパイラル溝16の内径側の端部16B及びその近傍で正圧が発生する。
 このように、レイリーステップ15の端部15A及びその近傍で発生した正圧による力に、スパイラル溝16の内径側の端部16B及びその近傍で発生した正圧による力が加わり、低速時と比べ摺動面11,21間がさらに離間する。これにより、摺動面11,21間には、主に矢印L2に示すスパイラル溝16内の大気Aが流入する。
 矢印L2に示すスパイラル溝16内の大気Aは、スパイラル溝16の内径側の端部16B近傍の被密封流体Fを内空間S1側に押し戻すように作用するので、スパイラル溝16内や外空間S2に漏れ出す被密封流体Fは少ない。
 本実施例のメカニカルシールは、高速回転時において、スパイラル溝16全体による正圧発生能力が、動圧発生機構13全体による正圧発生能力よりも十分に大きく設計されているため、最終的には、摺動面11,21間には大気Aのみが存在した状態、すなわち気体潤滑となる。
 また、図9に示されるように、スパイラル溝16の底面16aの外径側には、深さ方向に拡開するように傾斜する別の傾斜面8が連続して設けられている。これにより、スパイラル溝16の底面16aと傾斜面8との間で渦が発生することを抑えることができ、大気Aは傾斜面8に沿って第2流体導出入空間S12にスムーズに供給されるため、第2流体導出入空間S12内の大気Aが減少することを抑制できる。すなわち、高速回転時に摺動面11,21間が貧潤滑となることを回避できる。
 また、内空間S1の被密封流体Fは液体であり、漏れ側である外空間S2の流体は大気A、すなわち気体であり、低速回転時には、液体により摺動面11,21間の潤滑を行い、高速回転時には気体により摺動面11,21間の潤滑を行うことができる。言い換えれば、静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転速度に応じて摺動面11,21間の潤滑を適切に行うことができる。
 尚、本実施例3では、動圧発生機構13が流体導出入溝14と、レイリーステップ15と、から構成されている形態を例示したが、例えば、図10に示されるように、動圧発生機構13’は、流体導出入溝14と、レイリーステップ15と、流体導出入溝14からレイリーステップ15と逆方向に延びる逆レイリーステップ15’と、から構成されていてもよい。
 これによれば、図10の実線矢印で示されるように、回転密封環20が紙面時計回り方向に回転する場合には、レイリーステップ15の端部15aで正圧を生じさせ、逆レイリーステップ15’の端部15a’で負圧を生じさせることができる。
 一方、図10の点線矢印で示されるように、回転密封環20が紙面反時計回り方向に回転する場合には、レイリーステップ15の端部15aで負圧を生じさせ、逆レイリーステップ15’の端部15a’で正圧を生じさせることができる。
 次に、実施例4に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図11を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例4のメカニカルシールは、静止密封環の摺動面の外径側に流体導出入溝140及び動圧発生溝150を有する動圧発生機構130が形成されている。静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転時の動作は、実施例1と内外径が変わった以外は略同様であるため、その説明を省略する。
 次に、実施例5に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図12を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例3と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例5のメカニカルシールは、静止密封環の摺動面の外径側に流体導出入溝140及び動圧発生溝150を有する動圧発生機構130が形成され、内径側にスパイラル溝160が形成されている。静止密封環10と回転密封環20との相対回転時の動作は、実施例3と内外径が変わった以外は略同様であるため、その説明を省略する。
 次に、実施例6に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図13を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例5と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例6のメカニカルシールは、流体導出入溝140’の内径側端部が動圧発生溝150’よりも内径側に延びている。各流体導出入溝140’の内径側端部は深溝である環状溝180に連通している。この環状溝180は外径側の動圧発生溝150’と内径側のスパイラル溝160’とを径方向に区画している。
 環状溝180は、外空間S2から摺動面間に流入する被密封流体Fを回収できる。また、環状溝180よりも内径側に流れる被密封流体Fはスパイラル溝160’により外径側に押し戻され、環状溝180内に回収される。これにより、潤滑性と密封性を両立することができる。
 次に、実施例7に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図14を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。また、図14(b)では回転時を示している。
 本実施例7のメカニカルシールは、拡開面17及び拡開面18が設けられていない点で実施例1のメカニカルシールと異なる。
 図14(a)(b)に示されるように、本実施例6の静止密封環210には、内空間S1側の縁部210eに拡開面17が設けられていないため、周方向に複数設けられる各傾斜面6を有する傾斜溝61は、周方向に隣り合う傾斜溝61と周方向に連通していない。言い換えれば、各傾斜溝61は、周方向に独立して複数形成されている。
 この場合であっても、被密封流体Fは傾斜面6に沿って第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給することができる。
 また、静止密封環210には、外空間S2側の縁部210eに拡開面18が設けられていない。
 次に、実施例8に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図15を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例8のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環310は、傾斜面36が流体導出入溝14の底面14aの内径側の端縁から内径側に延びており、実施例1とは異なり傾斜面36は静止密封環310の内周面まで連続してはいない。また、傾斜面36の内径端からランド12の平坦面と平行に延びる端面19aがさらに内径側に延びており、端面19aは拡開面17に連続している。
 次に、実施例9に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図16を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例9のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環410は、流体導出入溝14の底面14aが拡開面17に連続している。すなわち、本実施例7では、拡開面17が流体導出入溝14に被密封流体Fを誘導する傾斜面として機能している。
 これによれば、拡開面17により被密封流体Fを第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給できるため、拡開面17の他に傾斜溝等を加工する必要がなく、静止密封環410を簡便に製造できる。
 次に、実施例10に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図17を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例10のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環510は、拡開面17が形成されておらず、流体導出入溝514の底面514aは、ランド512の平坦面と平行に静止密封環510の内周面510gまで延びている。すなわち、流体導出入溝514の底面514aと静止密封環510の内周面510gは略直交している。
 また、回転密封環520において摺動面521よりも内径側の縁部521eには、拡開面517が形成されている。この拡開面517は、摺動面521から回転密封環520の内周面520gに向け、静止密封環510から離れる方向に傾斜するテーパ形状を成している。すなわち、拡開面517は、第1流体導出入空間S10’(図17のドット部分参照)に連続し、内空間S1側に向けて拡開している。
 これによれば、拡開面517に沿って被密封流体Fを第1流体導出入空間S10’にスムーズに供給することができる。
 尚、本実施例10では、拡開面517が環状に形成されている形態、すなわち連通空間が全周に亘って形成されている形態を例示したが、これに限られず、拡開面は周方向において途切れていてもよい。
 次に、実施例11に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図18を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例11のメカニカルシールは、実施例1の静止密封環10と実施例10の回転密封環520とを組み合わせた構成となっている。
 すなわち、第1流体導出入空間S10は、静止密封環10における傾斜溝61と、静止密封環10の拡開面17と回転密封環520の拡開面517との間で形成された空間S14と、により内空間S1側に向けて深さ方向に拡開されている。これにより、被密封流体Fを第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給することができる。
 次に、実施例12に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図19を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例12のメカニカルシールは、実施例7の静止密封環210と実施例10の回転密封環520とを組み合わせた構成となっている。
 すなわち、第1流体導出入空間S10は、静止密封環210における傾斜溝61と、静止密封環210と回転密封環520の拡開面517との間で形成された空間と、により内空間S1側に向けて深さ方向に拡開されている。これにより、被密封流体Fを第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給することができる。
 次に、実施例13に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図20を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例13のメカニカルシールの静止密封環100は、実施例1の静止密封環10の拡開面17に代えて段状の拡開面170が形成されている。
 拡開面170は、第1面170aと第2面170bとにより構成されている。第1面170aは、ランド12の平坦面の内径端縁から該ランド12の平坦面と直交して回転密封環20から離れる方向に延びている。第2面170bは、第1面170aの端縁から静止密封環100の内周面100gに向けてランド12の平坦面と平行に延びている。
 段状の拡開面170と回転密封環20との間には連通空間S110が形成されている。連通空間S110は周方向に隣接する傾斜溝61を連通している。
 次に、実施例14に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図21を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例14のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環610は、拡開面617及び傾斜面66が断面視で外径側かつ深さ方向に凹む曲面形状を成している。これによれば、傾斜面66により被密封流体Fを深さ方向から第1流体導出入空間S10にスムーズに供給できる機能を保ちつつ、傾斜溝61’および連通空間S11’の容積を大きく確保し、被密封流体Fを多く導入することができる。
 尚、静止密封環の拡開面及び傾斜面が断面視で内径側かつ深さ方向とは反対側に膨出する曲面形状を成していてもよい。
 次に、実施例15に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図22を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図22(a)~(c)に示されるように、本実施例15のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環710は、摺動面711の内径側に動圧発生機構713を有している。動圧発生機構713は、流体導出入溝714と、動圧発生溝としてのレイリーステップ715と、から構成されている。流体導出入溝714は内空間S1に連通している。
 レイリーステップ715は、流体導出入溝714の外径側から時計回りに延びている。レイリーステップ715の外径側の側面715bは、流体導出入溝714の外径側の端面714dよりも外径側に配置されている。
 端面714dの摺動面711側の端縁714gには、レイリーステップ715の底面715aが連続している。
 静止密封環710に対して回転密封環20が実線矢印で示すように時計周りに相対摺動した際には、レイリーステップ715内の被密封流体Fが時計周りに移動し、レイリーステップ715の端部及びその近傍にて正圧が発生する。
 前述のように、レイリーステップ715の外径側の側面715bは、流体導出入溝714の外径側の端面714dよりも外径側に配置されているため、レイリーステップ715と流体導出入溝714との連通領域を大きく確保できる。これにより、流体導出入溝714からレイリーステップ715に被密封流体Fが移動しやすい。
 尚、図示しないが、静止密封環710に対して回転密封環20が反時計周りに相対摺動した際には、レイリーステップ715内の被密封流体Fが反時計周りに移動し、レイリーステップ715にて相対的な負圧が発生する。レイリーステップ715は、流体導出入溝714の外径側に一部形成されているため、レイリーステップ715にて相対的な負圧が発生する場合には、相対的な負圧が発生する領域を大きく確保することができる。
 次に、実施例16に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図23を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図23に示されるように、本実施例16のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環710’は、摺動面711’の外径側に動圧発生機構713’を有している。動圧発生機構713’は、流体導出入溝714’と、動圧発生溝としてのレイリーステップ715’と、から構成されている。流体導出入溝714’は外空間S2に連通している。
 レイリーステップ715’は、流体導出入溝714’の内径側から時計回りに延びている。レイリーステップ715’の内径側の側面715b’は、流体導出入溝714’の内径側の端面714d’よりも内径側に配置されている。
 次に、実施例17に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図24を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図24(a)(b)に示されるように、本実施例17のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環710’’は、動圧発生機構713’’を有している。動圧発生機構713’’は、流体導出入溝714’’と、動圧発生溝としてのレイリーステップ715’’と、から構成されている。尚、動圧発生機構713’’の外径側には図示しないディンプルなどの動圧発生溝が形成されている。
 レイリーステップ715’’は流体導出入溝714’’の外径端から周方向両側に延びている。言い換えれば、流体導出入溝714の外径端は、レイリーステップ715’’の周方向中央部に配置されている。また、レイリーステップ715’’の底面715a’’の内径端縁は、拡開面17に連続している。
 また、レイリーステップ715’’の外径側の側面715b’’は、流体導出入溝714’’の外径側の端面714d’’よりも外径側に配置されている。端面714d’’の摺動面711’’側の端縁714g’’には、レイリーステップ715’’の底面715a’’が連続している。尚、以下、図24(a)において、レイリーステップ715’’における流体導出入溝714’’よりも紙面左側の部位を第1部位715A’’、流体導出入溝714’’よりも紙面右側の部位を第2部位715B’’、流体導出入溝714の外径側の部位を連通部分としての第3部位715C’’と称する。
 図24(a)に示されるように、静止密封環710’’に対して回転密封環20が実線矢印で示すように時計周りに相対摺動した際には、レイリーステップ715’’内の被密封流体Fが矢印H1に示すように時計周りに移動し、第2部位715B’’の閉塞端部及びその近傍にて正圧が発生する。
 一方、レイリーステップ715’’の第1部位715A’’及び第3部位715C’’が相対的に負圧となり、キャビテーションCが発生する(図24(a)の網掛け部分参照)。キャビテーションCは、主に、レイリーステップ715’’の外径側の側面715b’’に沿って生じやすく、その一部は第2部位715B’’の一部まで延びて生じている。尚、図24(a)の網掛け部分はキャビテーションCが発生する領域を示し、実際よりも強調して図示している。
 このように、レイリーステップ715’’の第1部位715A’’及び第2部位715B’’が第3部位715C’’により連通していることから、第3部位715C’’およびその周辺に発生するキャビテーションによって、レイリーステップ715’’の第1部位715A’’と流体導出入溝714’’との境目近傍から外径方向に被密封流体Fが漏れにくくなっている。
 尚、静止密封環710’’に対して回転密封環20が反時計周りに相対摺動した際には、第1部位715A’’の閉塞端部及びその近傍にて正圧が発生し、第2部位715B’’及び第3部位715C’’にてキャビテーションCが発生する。すなわち、静止密封環710’’は両回転に対応できるようになっている。
 また、本実施例では、レイリーステップ715’’の底面715a’’が水平方向に延びる平坦面である形態を例示したが、流体導出入溝714’’から周方向に向かうにつれて浅くまたは深くなるテーパ形状、または段付きテーパ形状であってもよい。
 また、本実施例では、レイリーステップ715’’の第3部位715C’’をレイリーステップ715’’と同じ深さの溝として例示したが、これに限られず、連通部分は、レイリーステップ、すなわち動圧発生溝と異なる深さの溝であってもよい。
 次に、実施例18に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図25を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例17と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例18のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環810は、流体導出入溝814の側面814b,814cと、傾斜溝861を区画する側面819b,819cと、の内径端同士が周方向に離間するように傾斜している。
 これによれば、傾斜溝861の内径側の開口が周方向に拡開されるため、内空間S1内の被密封流体Fを傾斜溝861内に導入しやすい。また、側面814b,814cと側面819b,819cとが平坦に連続しているので、傾斜溝861から流体導出入溝814内に被密封流体Fを導入しやすい。
 次に、実施例19に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図26を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例17と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 本実施例19のメカニカルシールにおける静止密封環910は、流体導出入溝914の側面914b,914cと、傾斜溝961を区画する側面919b,919cと、の内径端同士が周方向に近接するように傾斜している。
 これによれば、流体導出入溝914の外径側の容積を大きく確保できる。また、側面914b,914cと側面919b,919cとが平坦に連続しているので、傾斜溝961から流体導出入溝914内に被密封流体Fを導入しやすい。
 次に、実施例20に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図27を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図27(a)に示されるように、本実施例20のメカニカルシールは、静止密封環の摺動面の内径側に流体導出入溝1040及び動圧発生溝1050を有する動圧発生機構1030が形成されている。
 図27(b)に示されるように、流体導出入溝1040の深さD10は、動圧発生溝1050の深さD20と同じ深さに形成されている(D10=D20)。これによれば、流体導出入溝1040から動圧発生溝1050に被密封流体Fを円滑に導入することができる。
 次に、実施例21に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図28を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例4と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図28(a)に示されるように、本実施例21のメカニカルシールは、静止密封環の摺動面の外径側に流体導出入溝1140及び動圧発生溝1150を有する動圧発生機構1130が形成されている。
 図28(b)に示されるように、流体導出入溝1140の深さD11は、動圧発生溝1150の深さD21と同じ深さに形成されている(D11=D21)。これによれば、流体導出入溝1140から動圧発生溝1150に大気Aを円滑に導入することができる。
 次に、実施例22に係るメカニカルシールにつき、図29および図30を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図29および図30に示されるように、本実施例22の静止密封環1210の摺動面1211の内空間S1側の縁部1210eには、複数の溝1230と拡開面1217が設けられている。尚、本実施例22では、内空間S1に大気A、外空間S2に被密封流体Fが存在する形態を例示する。
 溝1230は、軸方向視において周方向に沿って弧状に湾曲した帯状を成している。詳しくは、溝1230は、ランド1212と略平行な底面1231と、底面1231の下流側端からランド1212に略直交して立ち上がる正圧発生部としての下流側端面1232と、底面1231の上流側端からランド1212に略直交して立ち上がる負圧発生部としての上流側端面1233と、底面1231の外径側端からランド1212に略直交して立ち上がる周壁面1234と、底面1231の内径側端縁から静止密封環1210の内周面に向かうにつれて深さが深くなる傾斜面1216と、傾斜面1216の周方向両端縁から立ち上がる側面1219b,1219cと、から構成されている。
 底面1231、下流側端面1232および上流側端面1233の内径側端縁には周方向に延びる略矩形の内径側に開口する開口部1215が形成されており、開口部1215は内空間S1に連通している。
 下流側端面1232及び上流側端面1233は、同じ径方向長さL10を有している。
 また開口部1215の周方向長さL20は、下流側端面1232及び上流側端面1233の径方向長さL10よりも長寸であり(L10<L20)、周方向長さL20は径方向長さL10の約5倍となっている。
 尚、開口部1215は、周方向に延びる内径側の全長に亘って開口していたが、軸方向から見て溝1230の周方向に沿って略同心状に延びる壁(本実施例では周壁面1234)の周方向長さの少なくとも1/3以上、好ましくは1/2以上が開口していればよい。また、開口部の周方向長さと溝の径方向長さについては、開口部の周方向長さが溝の径方向長さよりも大きくなっていれば適宜変更してもよい。また、溝1230の径方向長さL10が周方向に亘って一定であることを妨げない。
 尚、溝1230の深さ寸法は、適宜変更してもよい。また、溝1230の底面は平坦面をなしランド1212に平行に形成されているが、平坦面に微細凹部を設けることやランド1212に対して傾斜するように形成することを妨げない。
 また、溝1230は、径方向に延びる線α1を基準に線対称に形成されている。
 次いで、静止密封環1210と回転密封環20との相対回転時の動作について説明する。まず、回転密封環20が回転していない停止時には、摺動面1211,21間には外径側の被密封流体Fが毛細管現象によって僅かに進入しているとともに、溝1230には残っていた被密封流体Fと内径側から進入した大気Aとが混在した状態となっている。尚、被密封流体Fは大気Aと比べ粘度が高いため、停止時に溝1230から低圧側に漏れ出す量は少ない。
 回転密封環20の停止時に溝1230に被密封流体Fがほぼ残っていない場合には、回転密封環20が静止密封環1210に対して相対回転(実線矢印参照)すると、図30に示されるように、溝1230内の大気Aが回転密封環20の回転方向に矢印L3に示すように追随移動するため、下流側端面1232近傍に動圧が発生するようになる。
 下流側端面1232には、回転密封環20の回転に伴って大気Aが流入し続けることにより、下流側端面1232近傍の圧力が高められて正圧が発生し、大気Aは矢印L4に示すように下流側端面1232近傍からその周辺に流出する。
 詳しくは、周壁面1234に沿って案内されて移動する大気Aが下流側端面1232から摺動面1211,21間に流出、特に下流側端面1232と周壁面1234とが略直交する角部に向かって収束され、この角部から摺動面1211,21間に流出することとなる。
 そのため、下流側端面1232と周壁面1234との角部から流出する大気Aの圧力が最も高く、この角部から下流側端面1232の内径側または周壁面1234の上流側に向かうにつれて漸次圧力が低くなる。なお、大気Aには遠心力が作用するため、周壁面1234に沿って流れやすくなっている。
 また、回転密封環20の回転に伴って大気Aが下流側端面1232側に追従移動し正圧が発生することにより、上流側端面1233近傍に負圧が発生し、大気Aが矢印L5に示すように開口部1215の周方向中央部や、矢印L6に示すように開口部1215の上流側端面1233近傍から導入される。
 また、溝1230において下流側端面1232近傍が最も圧力が高くなっているので、下流側端面1232近傍の大気Aの大部分は摺動面1211,21間に流出し、大気Aの一部は開口部1215における下流側端面1232近傍から内空間S1に漏れる。
 また、上流側端面1233近傍では、発生する負圧によって、隣接する上流側の溝1230の下流側端面1232近傍から流出した大気Aが矢印L7に示すように上流側端面1233側から導入される。
 また、摺動面1211,21間における溝1230の下流側端面1232近傍の被密封流体Fは、下流側端面1232近傍から摺動面1211,21間に流出する大気Aにより外径側に押し返される。
 また、摺動面1211,21間における溝1230の上流側端面1233近傍の被密封流体Fは、上流側端面1233で発生する負圧により回収される。加えて、被密封流体Fは大気Aと比べ粘度が高く、比重も大きいことから回転の影響を受け易いため、溝1230内に回収されると、回転力や遠心力によって下流側端面1232または周壁面1234に沿って移動することとなる。
 よって、摺動面1211,21間の内空間S1側に流出しようとする被密封流体Fを回収して下流側端面1232近傍から大気Aと共に摺動面1211,21間に確実に戻すことができる。
 以上のことから、静止密封環1210と回転密封環20との相対回転時において、摺動面1211,21間の内径側には、大気Aによる流体膜が形成されることとなる。これによれば、摺動面1211,21同士を離間させ、流体膜により潤滑性を向上させることができる。
 このように、溝1230には、周方向に沿って内空間S1側に大きく開口する開口部1215が形成されているので、回転密封環20の回転数を上げたときに溝1230における下流側端面1232近傍の圧力が高まっても、開口部1215から大気Aを多く取り込むことができる。また、溝1230の上流側端面1233近傍で発生する負圧により溝1230内に積極的に大気Aを取り込むことができる。
 また、溝1230は、内径側に亘って開口部1215が形成されているので、開口部1215から大気Aを十分に取り込むことができ、下流側端面1232近傍から摺動面11,21間に高い正圧を確実に発生させることができる。
 また、溝1230は、傾斜面1216が設けられているため、底面1231よりも深い位置から積極的に大気Aを取り込むことができる。
 また、溝1230は、線α1を基準に線対称に形成されていることから、図29において点線矢印で示されるように、静止密封環1210に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面時計回り方向に回転する場合には、下流側端面1232から上流側端面1233に向かって大気Aが移動して、上流側端面1233近傍で正圧が発生し、下流側端面1232近傍で負圧が発生することとなる。すなわち、静止密封環1210に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面反時計回り方向に回転した場合とは逆に機能することとなる。よって、静止密封環1210と回転密封環20との相対回転方向に限られず使用できる。
 また、溝1230は、周方向に沿って複数設けられているので、周方向における摺動面1211,21間の圧力バランスが取りやすい。尚、本実施例では、溝1230が周方向に等配される形態を例示したが、不等配に配設されていてもよい。また、溝1230の数量も自由に変更することができる。
 尚、前記実施例22では、溝が周方向に複数設けられる形態を例示したが、例えば、軸方向から見て略350度の円弧状、すなわちC字状に形成された溝が1つ設けられていてもよい。
 また、前記実施例22では、溝の下流側端面が周方向に直交し径方向に延びる形態を例示したが、周壁面と下流側端面で成す角部が鋭角をなすように下流側端面が周方向に傾斜していてもよい。これによれば、角部で流体が収束されるため、正圧発生能力を向上させることができる。
 また、上流側端面も同様に周壁面と上流側端面で成す角部が鋭角をなすように上流側端面が周方向に傾斜していてもよい。これによれば、静止密封環と回転密封環との相対回転方向に限られず高い正圧発生能力を発揮できる。
 次に、実施例23に係る摺動部品につき、図31を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例22と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図31に示されるように、静止密封環1310の摺動面1311の内空間S1側の縁部1310eには、複数の溝1330と拡開面1317が設けられている。
 溝1330は、周方向の中央部が最も深く、該中央部から回転方向下流側、回転方向上流側に向かうにつれて階段状に浅くなっている。また、この溝1330は、径方向に延びる線α2を基準に線対称に形成されている。尚、本実施例23の溝1330は、傾斜面1316が静止密封環1310の内周面まで連続していない。
 これによれば、回転密封環20が静止密封環1310に対して紙面反時計回り方向に相対回転(実線矢印参照)すると、溝1330の下流側端面1332近傍で正圧が発生するようになる。また、回転密封環20が静止密封環1310に対して紙面反時計回り方向に相対回転(点線矢印参照)すると、溝1330の上流側端面1333近傍で正圧が発生するようになる。
 溝1330は、周方向中央部から下流側端面1332および上流側端面1333に向けて浅くなっているため、下流側端面1332および上流側端面1333近傍で正圧および負圧を効率よく生じさせることができる。
 尚、本実施例23では、溝が周方向中央部から周方向両端に向け階段状に浅くなる形態を例示したが、これに限られず、例えば、溝の底面は、周方向中央部から周方向両端に向け漸次浅くなるように直線状または円弧上に延びていてもよい。
 次に、実施例24に係る摺動部品につき、図32を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例1と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図32に示されるように、静止密封環1410の内径側の縁部1410eには、複数の溝1430と拡開面1417とが設けられている。
 溝1430は、第1溝部1430Cと下流側の第2溝部1430Dと上流側の第2溝部1430D’とから構成され、軸方向から見て略逆Ω状に形成されている。溝1430の深さは周方向に一定に形成されている。
 第1溝部1430Cは、内空間S1に開口し、周方向に円弧状に延びている。第1溝部1430Cの底面における内径側は拡開面1417と略平行な傾斜面1416となっており、それ以外の部位はランド1412と略平行な平坦面となっている。
 第2溝部1430Dは、第1溝部1430Cの下流側端部から回転方向下流側に傾斜して径方向に延設された傾斜部15Dと、傾斜部15Dの外径側端部から回転方向下流側に周方向に延設された正圧発生部としての延設部15Eと、を有しており、第2溝部1430Dは、軸方向から見て逆V字状に形成されている。
 また、第2溝部1430D’は、第1溝部1430Cの上流側端部から回転方向上流側に傾斜して径方向に延設された傾斜部15D’と、傾斜部15D’の外径側端部から回転方向上流側に周方向に延設された負圧発生部としての延設部15E’と、を有している。傾斜部15Dと傾斜部15D’とは、軸方向から見て内径側から外径側に向かって互いに離れる方向に傾斜して延設されており、その外径側から延設部15E,15E’が周方向に延設されている。
 図32において実線矢印で示されるように、静止密封環1410に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面反時計回り方向に回転する場合には、傾斜部15Dが傾斜しているので、傾斜部15Dを構成する2つの側壁部152aに沿って大気Aが移動し、第2溝部1430Dに対して円滑に大気Aを導入することができる。また、第2溝部1430Dにおける延設部15Eは第1溝部1430Cよりも流路断面が小さいので延設部15Eの端部151aに高い正圧を発生させることができる。一方、延設部15E’の端部151a’では負圧が生じる。
 また、図32において点線矢印で示されるように、静止密封環1410に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面時計回り方向に回転する場合には、傾斜部15D’が傾斜しているので、傾斜部15D’を構成する2つの側壁部152cに沿って大気Aが移動し、第2溝部1430D’に対して円滑に大気Aを導入することができる。また、第2溝部1430D’における延設部15E’は第1溝部1430Cよりも流路断面が小さいので延設部15E’の端部151a’に高い正圧を発生させることができる。一方、延設部15Eの端部151aでは負圧が生じる。
 また、静止密封環1410の外径側には、特定動圧発生機構30が形成されている。特定動圧発生機構30は、複数の流体誘導溝部31と、環状の連通溝部32と、レイリーステップ33と、逆レイリーステップ34と、から構成されている。
 各流体誘導溝部31の底面の外径側端部は、外径側に向かうにつれて深さが深くなる傾斜面31aが形成されている。これら流体誘導溝部31は外空間S2側に連通しており、周方向に等配されている。尚、静止密封環1410の外径側の縁部1410e’には、傾斜面31aと平行な拡開面1418が形成されている。
 連通溝部32は、各流体誘導溝部31の内径側端部を連通するように環状に延びている。
 レイリーステップ33は、流体誘導溝部31における連通溝部32よりも外径側の位置から下流側に向けて静止密封環1410と同心状に周方向に延びている。
 逆レイリーステップ34は、流体誘導溝部31における連通溝部32よりも外径側の位置から上流側に向けて静止密封環1410と同心状に周方向に延びている。
 この流体誘導溝部31および連通溝部32は、溝1430の深さ寸法よりも深く形成されており、レイリーステップ33および逆レイリーステップ34は溝1430と同一の深さに形成されている。
 回転密封環20が回転していない時には、特定動圧発生機構30内に被密封流体Fが進入している。また、図32において実線矢印で示されるように、静止密封環1410に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面反時計回り方向に回転すると、被密封流体Fが流体誘導溝部31からレイリーステップ33側に移動してレイリーステップ33内に動圧が発生する。特に低速回転時には、レイリーステップ33の端部33Aから摺動面間に流出する被密封流体Fにより液膜を形成して潤滑性を向上させることができる。
 また、流体誘導溝部31および連通溝部32は深溝となっているので、被密封流体Fを多量に保持することができ、低速回転時に摺動面間が貧潤滑となることを回避できる。また、流体誘導溝部31の外径側端部には傾斜面31aが形成されているため、外空間S2から被密封流体Fが円滑に導入される。
 また、図32において点線矢印で示されるように、静止密封環1410に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面時計回り方向に回転すると、被密封流体Fが流体誘導溝部31から逆レイリーステップ34側に移動して逆レイリーステップ34内に動圧が発生する。特に低速回転時には、逆レイリーステップ34の端部34Aから摺動面間に流出する被密封流体Fにより液膜を形成して潤滑性を向上させることができる。
 このように、本実施例の静止密封環1410は、静止密封環1410と回転密封環20との相対回転方向に関わらず、レイリーステップ33および逆レイリーステップ34により動圧を発生させることができる。
 尚、本実施例では、第2溝部1430Dが第1溝部1430Cの周方向端部から外径側に向かって傾斜して延びる形態を例示したが、これに限られず、例えば、第2溝部が第1溝部の周方向端部から外径側に向かって延び、第1溝部と第2溝部とが軸方向から見て略直角をなす略L字状に形成されていてもよい。
 また、本実施例では、第2溝部1430Dは、傾斜部15Dと延設部15Eから構成される形態を例示したが、延設部の構成を省略してもよい。
 また、本実施例では、レイリーステップおよび逆レイリーステップが同一の深さ寸法である場合を例示したが、異なる深さ寸法に形成されていてもよい。また、両者は周方向長さ、径方向幅についても同じであっても異なっていてもよい。
 また、本実施例では、摺動面の外径側から内径側に向かって漏れようとする被密封流体Fを密封するインサイド形のものである形態を例示したが、摺動面の内径側から外径側に向かって漏れようとする被密封流体Fを密封するアウトサイド形のものであってもよい。
 次に、実施例25に係る摺動部品につき、図33を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例24と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図33に示されるように、静止密封環1510に設けられる溝1530は、第1溝部1530Cと下流側の第2溝部1530Dとから構成されており、前記実施例24の上流側の第2溝部1430D’が設けられていない。このように、図33の実線矢印で示されるように、静止密封環1510に対して回転密封環20が相対的に紙面反時計回り方向に回転する場合にのみ対応するようになっていてもよい。
 次に、実施例26に係る摺動部品につき、図34を参照して説明する。尚、前記実施例24と同一構成で重複する構成の説明を省略する。
 図34に示されるように、静止密封環1610に設けられる溝1630は、第1溝部1630Cと下流側の第2溝部1630Dと上流側の第2溝部1630D’とから構成されている。
 第2溝部1630Dの傾斜部1615は、第1溝部1630Cの下流側端部から回転方向上流側に傾斜して径方向に延設されている。また、第2溝部1630D’の傾斜部1615’は、第1溝部1630Cの上流側端部から回転方向下流側に傾斜して径方向に延設されている。
 すなわち、傾斜部1615と傾斜部1615’とは、軸方向から見て内径側から外径側に向かって互いに近づく方向に傾斜して延設されており、その外径側から延設部15E,15E’が互いに離れる方向に周方向に延設されている。
 以上、本発明の実施例を図面により説明してきたが、具体的な構成はこれら実施例に限られるものではなく、本発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲における変更や追加があっても本発明に含まれる。
 例えば、前記実施例では、摺動部品として、メカニカルシールを例に説明したが、摺動部品はメカニカルシール以外の軸封部品であってもよい。さらに、摺動部品は軸封部品以外、例えば軸受部品であってもよい。
 また、前記実施例1~26では、溝を静止密封環に設ける例について説明したが、溝を回転密封環に設けてもよい。言い換えると、本発明の一方の摺動環は静止密封環でもあっても回転密封環であってもよい。また、静止密封環と回転密封環の両方に設けてもよい。
 また、前記実施例1~26では、被密封流体側を高圧側、漏れ側を低圧側として説明してきたが、被密封流体側と漏れ側とは略同じ圧力であってもよい。被密封流体側と漏れ側とが略同じ圧力である場合、漏れ側のスパイラル溝を被密封流体側の動圧発生溝よりも深く形成し、低速回転時に動圧発生溝で正圧を発生させ、高速回転時にスパイラル溝で正圧を発生させることが好ましい。
 また、前記実施例1~26では、被密封流体Fは高圧の液体と説明したが、これに限らず気体または低圧の液体であってもよいし、液体と気体が混合したミスト状であってもよい。
 また、前記実施例1~26では、漏れ側の流体は低圧の気体である大気Aであると説明したが、これに限らず液体または高圧の気体であってもよいし、液体と気体が混合したミスト状であってもよい。
 また、前記実施例1~26では、流体導出入溝の底面がランドの平坦面と平行に延びている形態を例示したが、これに限られず、例えば、流体導出入溝の底面が漏れ側に向けて浅くなるように傾斜していてもよい。すなわち、傾斜面は、流体導出入溝の底面と異なる角度で被密封流体側に深くなっていればよい。
 また、実施例1~19のように、流体導出入溝の深さは、動圧発生溝の深さよりも深くてもよく、実施例20,21に適用されてもよい。また、実施例20,21のように、流体導出入溝の深さは、動圧発生溝の深さと同じであってもよく、実施例1~19に適用されてもよい。

Claims (16)

  1.  一対の摺動環が互いに相対回転し、被密封流体空間及び漏れ空間を区画する摺動部品であって、
     一方の摺動環の摺動面には、前記被密封流体側および前記漏れ側の少なくとも一方の空間に開口する溝が設けられており、
     前記一対の摺動環の少なくとも一方における前記溝が設けられている側の空間側の縁部には、前記一方の摺動環の前記溝と前記他方の摺動環との間に形成される流体空間に連通し、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に向けて拡開された傾斜面が設けられている摺動部品。
  2.  前記溝は、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に開口する流体導出入溝と、前記流体導出入溝に連通して周方向に延設される動圧発生溝と、を備え、
     前記流体導出入溝は前記動圧発生溝よりも深くなっている請求項1に記載の摺動部品。
  3.  前記溝は、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に開口する流体導出入溝と、前記流体導出入溝に連通して周方向に延設される動圧発生溝と、を備え、
     前記流体導出入溝と前記動圧発生溝とは同じ深さとなっている請求項1に記載の摺動部品。
  4.  前記傾斜面は、前記一方の摺動環に設けられている請求項1に記載の摺動部品。
  5.  前記流体導出入溝の底面と前記傾斜面とが鈍角を成している請求項2または3に記載の摺動部品。
  6.  前記一方の摺動環には、前記傾斜面と、前記傾斜面の周方向両端縁から立ち上がる側面と、により傾斜溝が形成されており、
     前記一方または他方の摺動環における前記溝が設けられている側の空間側の縁部には、前記溝が設けられている側の空間に向けて拡開された拡開面が形成されており、
     前記拡開面により区画され周方向に延びて形成される連通空間は前記傾斜溝に連通している請求項1に記載の摺動部品。
  7.  前記流体導出入溝は内径側の空間に連通しており、
     前記動圧発生溝の最外径の位置は前記流体導出入溝の最外径の位置よりも外径側に位置している請求項2または3に記載の摺動部品。
  8.  前記流体導出入溝は外径側の空間に連通しており、
     前記動圧発生溝の最内径の位置は前記流体導出入溝の最内径の位置よりも内径側に位置している請求項2または3に記載の摺動部品。
  9.  前記動圧発生溝は前記流体導出入溝の周方向両側に設けられており、該動圧発生溝同士は連通している請求項7に記載の摺動部品。
  10.  前記流体導出入溝は前記被密封流体側の空間に連通しており、前記一方または他方の摺動環の摺動面には、前記漏れ側の空間に連通し、前記被密封流体側の空間に連通しないスパイラル溝が設けられている請求項2または3に記載の摺動部品。
  11.  前記一方の摺動環における前記漏れ側の縁部には、前記スパイラル溝と他方の摺動環との間に形成される別の流体空間に連通し、前記漏れ側の空間に向けて拡開された別の傾斜面が設けられている請求項10に記載の摺動部品。
  12.  前記被密封流体は液体であり、前記漏れ側の流体は気体である請求項1に記載の摺動部品。
  13.  前記溝は、径方向長さよりも周方向長さが長い帯状の開口溝であり、該開口溝の少なくとも一部に、周方向に沿って前記溝が設けられている側の空間側に開放する開口部が形成されている請求項1に記載の摺動部品。
  14.  前記開口溝は、前記開口部が形成され周方向に延びる第1溝部と、前記第1溝部の下流側端部から径方向成分をもって延設されその端部が閉塞された第2溝部と、を有している請求項13に記載の摺動部品。
  15.  前記第2溝部は、径方向成分をもって延設された傾斜部と、前記傾斜部から周方向に延びる延設部と、から構成されている請求項14に記載の摺動部品。
  16.  前記開口溝は、径方向に延びる線を基準として線対称に形成されている請求項13ないし15のいずれかに記載の摺動部品。
