Definitions
- the present disclosure relates to smoking articles with enhanced tobacco flavor and methods of making the same. More specifically, it relates to a smoking article capable of providing improved tobacco flavor upon smoking by applying a sheet-like material in which tobacco flavor is expressed, and a method for manufacturing the smoking article.
- a traditional method of making low nicotine smoking articles is to process low nicotine leaf tobacco or puffed leaf tobacco to produce the tobacco material that is incorporated into the smoking article. This is because reducing the nicotine content of the tobacco material itself naturally reduces the amount of nicotine delivered to the smoking article.
- the above method has a problem in that the tobacco flavor felt by the user is also reduced along with the nicotine transfer amount.
- a technical problem to be solved through some embodiments of the present disclosure is to provide a smoking article with improved tobacco flavor and a method of manufacturing the article.
- Another technical problem to be solved through some embodiments of the present disclosure is to provide a sheet-like material capable of improving tobacco flavor without increasing the nicotine delivery amount and a manufacturing method of the material.
- a smoking article according to some embodiments of the present disclosure for solving the above technical problem may include a smoking material part, a filter part, and a wrapper surrounding at least a part of the smoking material part. At this time, a sheet-like material containing a plant extract may be applied to the smoking material part or the wrapper.
- the plant extract may include cocoa extract.
- the sheet-like material may include a modified cellulosic material.
- the sheet-like material may not contain a nicotine component.
- the sheet-like material may contain at least one of caffeine, an alkaloid substance and a cannabinoid substance.

- the sheet-like material may be included in the smoking matter portion in a cut form.
- the sheet-like material may constitute at least a portion of the wrapper or be disposed inside the wrapper.
- a sheet-like material containing a plant extract capable of expressing tobacco flavor may be provided. Since this sheet-like material can improve tobacco flavor without increasing the nicotine delivery amount of the smoking article, it can simultaneously satisfy the user's needs for the nicotine smoking article and the user's smoking satisfaction.
- a smoking article to which the above-described sheet-like material is applied may be provided.
- Such smoking articles can ensure a more enhanced tobacco flavor.

- HPMC may have a grade within the range of about 4 to 40,000 depending on the ratio and molecular weight of hydroxypropyl group and methyl group (or methoxy group) substitution. Depending on the grade, the viscosity of the modified cellulose can be determined. More specifically, the physical and chemical properties of HPMC are related to the ratio of methoxy groups, the ratio of hydroxypropyl groups, and the molecular weight.
- the type of HPMC is It can be classified into HPMC1828, HPMC2208, HPMC2906 and HPMC2910.

- DE is an abbreviation of dextrose equivalent
- the DE value represents the degree of hydrolysis of starch, that is, the saccharification rate of starch.
- the DE value may be a value measured by the Willstatter-Schudel method.
- the properties of hydrolyzed starch (starch hydrolyzate), such as the molecular weight of starch hydrolyzate and the arrangement of sugar molecules constituting starch hydrolyzate, are not constant for each molecule of starch hydrolyzate, It exists with variations. Due to the distribution or variation of the properties of the starch hydrolyzate, or the difference in the cut section, etc., the starch hydrolyzate may exhibit different physical property characteristics (eg DE value) for each molecule. In this way, starch hydrolyzate is a collection of molecules exhibiting different physical properties, but the measurement result (ie DE value) by the Willstatter-Schudel method is a representative value indicating the degree of starch hydrolysis. are being treated
- the starch hydrolyzate may be selected from the group consisting of dextrins having a DE value of about 2 to about 5, indigestible dextrins having a DE value of about 10 to about 15, and mixtures thereof.

- the plasticizer may include, for example, at least one of glycerin and propylene glycol, but is not limited thereto.
- the sheet composition may further include an emulsifier.
- the emulsifier can increase the fragrance retention of the sheet-like material 10 by allowing the oil-soluble fragrance (e.g. plant extract) and the water-soluble hydrocolloid material to be well mixed.
- An example of an emulsifier may be lecithin, but is not limited thereto.
- the sheet-like material 10 prepared from the sheet composition described above may have various content ratios (composition ratios).
- sheet-like material 10 may include about 2 to about 15 parts by weight of water, about 25 to about 90 parts by weight of modified cellulose, and about 0.1 to about 60 parts by weight of fragrance, based on 100 parts by weight total.
- the sheet-like material 10 contains about 2 to about 15 parts by weight of water, about 25 to about 90 parts by weight of LM-pectin, and about 0.1 to about 60 parts by weight of flavoring, based on 100 parts by weight of the total.
- the sheet-like material 10 contains about 2 to about 15 parts by weight of water, about 1 to about 60 parts by weight of hydrocolloid material, and about 1 to about 60 parts by weight of LM-pectin, based on 100 parts by weight of the total. It may include about 0.1 to about 60 parts by weight and perfume.
- the plasticizer may be included in an amount of about 0.1 to about 15 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the sheet-like material 10 in total.
- a sheet having appropriate flexibility within this numerical range can be formed. For example, if too little plasticizer is added, the sheet-like material may be easily damaged during the process due to poor flexibility of the sheet, and if too much plasticizer is added, the sheet may not be well formed.
