- AP 1 working on link 1 (2.4GHz), AP 2 working on link 2 (5GHz) and AP 3 working on link 3 (6GHz) are respectively called affiliated access points (affiliated APs) of AP MLD; similarly, AP 1 working on link 1 (2.4GHz), AP 2 working on link 2 (5GHz) and AP 3 working on link 3 (6GHz) are respectively called affiliated APs of AP MLD; similarly.
- Non-AP STA 1 working on link 1 (2.4GHz), non-AP STA 2 working on link 2 (5GHz), and non-AP STA 3 working on link 3 (6GHz) are respectively called affiliated (non-AP) STAs of non-AP MLD.
- Non-AP MLD performs add link and delete link operations through the interaction of Multi-Link Operation Update Request and Multi-Link Operation Update Response frames.
- the add link/delete link type is added to the Reconfiguration Operation Type field in the Reconfiguration Multi-Link element carried in the frame, as shown in FIG4 , and parameter fields applied to a single link are added: Non Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (NSTR), Link Pair Present, NSTR Bitmap Size, and NSTR Indication Bitmap.
- multiple non-collocated APs can be regarded as different affiliated APs of the AP MLD.
- the multi-link operation architecture is used to implement AP MLD to use different affiliated APs to provide services for STA using different links, thereby better realizing the uninterrupted roaming of STA.
- STA x uses multiple links to connect to AP 1 and AP 2 respectively. When STA x sends a move, it disconnects the link connection with AP 1 but does not affect the link connection with AP 2. Therefore, the mobility support of STA becomes better.

- MLD-level roaming can be shown in FIG6.
- link-level roaming can be shown in FIG7.
- different links can be distinguished by AP MLD roaming ID (Roaming ID) (distinguishing different AP MLDs under Roaming AP MLD) and link ID (Link ID) (distinguishing different links under the same AP MLD).
- one or more new links may be added at a time, and after roaming is completed, the old links may be deleted, as shown in FIG. 8 .
- multiple APs can form a Multi-AP MLD Candidate Set, where one AP acts as the master AP (Master AP, M-AP) to manage and control other slave APs (Slave AP, S-AP) in the Multi-AP MLD Candidate Set through a wired or wireless link (also called a backhaul link). Then the APs in the Multi-AP MLD Candidate Set can provide services to STAs (e.g., STA a, STA b) through collaboration.

- the logical AP MLD technology does not specify the information that needs to be interacted and synchronized between APs during site roaming.
- the logical AP MLD technology also does not specify how a site performs channel access and data transmission with two APs during roaming.
- the present application proposes a multi-link device roaming solution, which can improve the roaming performance of the multi-link device.
- FIG. 10 is a schematic flow chart of a wireless communication method 200 according to an embodiment of the present application. That is, the existing Multi-Link Operation Update Request frame is used to add/delete links, and the reserved field in the site information field in the reconfiguration multi-link element is used to indicate the roaming ID of the target AP MLD (Target AP MLD Roaming ID), as shown in FIG. 19.

- the value 0 is used to indicate that the field is a reserved field, that is, to indicate that the frame is used to add or delete a local link.

- the new link and the old link coexist for a period of time.
- the new link (i.e., the target link) and the old link may be links of the same frequency band and the same channel, or may be links of the same frequency band but different channels.

- DIFS is agreed upon by the protocol, or DIFS is configured by the source AP MLD, or DIFS is configured by the target AP MLD.
- STA3 performs the following operations: when STA 3 switches from link 1 to link 2, STA 3 starts the first timer, and STA 3 performs channel idle assessment (Clear Channel Assessment, CCA) within the first duration. If a beacon frame is received within the first duration, the first timer is stopped and channel competition is performed normally. If no beacon frame is received, the channel competition is performed normally after the first timer times out.
- CCA Channel Channel Assessment
- STA 3 is specified to perform the following operations: when STA 3 switches from link 2 to link 1, STA 3 starts the second timer, and STA 3 performs a channel idle assessment (Clear Channel Assessment, CCA) within the second time period. If a beacon frame is received within the second time period, the second timer is stopped and channel competition is performed normally.
- CCA Channel Channel Assessment
- the second timer is waited for the second timer to time out and then channel competition is performed normally. Furthermore, if STA 3 has been resident in link 1 for more than the second time period (for example, the duration of the second timer + DIFS) without obtaining a transmission opportunity, and the AP1 corresponding to link 1 has not initiated a transmission with STA3, STA 3 switches from link 1 to link 2 again.
- the second time period for example, the duration of the second timer + DIFS

- the AP corresponding to the source link (i.e., source AP) and the AP corresponding to the target link (i.e., target AP) can both receive the uplink signal of the first Non-AP STA, and the overlapping area is an area that can be covered by the AP corresponding to the source link (i.e., source AP) and the AP corresponding to the target link (i.e., target AP).
- the transmission power of STA3 in the overlapping area needs to be adjusted so that AP1 (source AP) and AP2 (target AP) can both receive STA3's signal (because STA3 can receive the downlink signals of the two APs in the overlapping area, but the two APs may not be able to receive STA3's uplink signal), to ensure that when STA3 obtains the transmission opportunity, the BSS where the two APs are located can correctly set the Network Allocation Vector (NAV), that is, to avoid the conflict shown in Figure 21.
- NAV Network Allocation Vector
- the AP corresponding to the source link (i.e., source AP) and the AP corresponding to the target link (i.e., target AP) coordinate downlink transmission for the first Non-AP STA.
- the new link i.e., the target link
- the old link i.e., the source link
- the new and old APs need to coordinate downlink to avoid the conflict shown in Figure 22.
- This can be achieved by using the joint transmission (Joint Transmission, JT) and/or coordinated orthogonal frequency division multiple access (coordinated orthogonal frequency division multiple access, C-OFDMA) and/or transmission opportunity sharing (Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) Sharing, TXS) mechanism in the multi-AP collaboration mode.
- JT Joint Transmission

- EMLSR enhanced multi-link single radio
- the first information set can be pre-synchronized, that is, when the Non-AP MLD establishes an association with the logical AP MLD corresponding to the roaming domain through a certain AP MLD (physical AP MLD), the logical AP MLD controls the AP MLD to synchronize the first information set to all AP MLDs in the logical AP MLD (in this way, the backhaul link load is higher and there is a certain redundancy, but the time consumption of the backhaul link during roaming can be reduced).
- AP MLD physical AP MLD
- the first information set can also be synchronized from the old AP MLD (source AP MLD) to the new AP MLD (target AP MLD) (in this way, the return link has less redundancy, but the return link consumes slightly more time during roaming).
- the second information set is synchronized from the source AP MLD to all AP MLDs within the logical AP MLD by the logical AP MLD controlling the source AP MLD after the Non-AP MLD establishes an association with the logical AP MLD; or, the second information set is synchronized from the source AP MLD to the target AP MLD when the Non-AP MLD adds a roaming link.

- Scoreboard Context Control WinStart scoreboard Context Control WinStart
- Such operation parameter information may be updated frequently and is not suitable for synchronization during related negotiations (such as BA negotiation). Moreover, because this operation parameter information is multi-link device-level information, Non-AP MLD should not be required to renegotiate during roaming. Therefore, when Non-AP MLD adds a new link (roaming link), the old AP MLD (source AP MLD) should synchronize with the new AP MLD (target AP MLD).
- the mapping information of the flow identifier to the link is broadcast by the target AP MLD when the Non-AP MLD adds a roaming link, or the mapping information of the flow identifier to the link is associated with the default all flow identifiers TID, or the mapping information of the flow identifier to the link is determined by negotiation between the Non-AP MLD and the target AP MLD.
- some of the multi-link device-level operation parameter information of the Non-AP MLD such as the mapping of flow identifiers to links (TID-to-link mapping), is related to the current existence or non-existence or enabled or disabled status of the link, and is not suitable for advance synchronization.
- the Non-AP MLD adds a new link (roaming link)
- the mandatory mapping broadcast by the target AP MLD (if any) should be adopted; or the default upstream and downstream of all traffic identifiers (traffic identifier, TID) are mapped to the new link; or the old AP MLD (source AP MLD) sets the flow identifier to link mapping element field in the response frame of adding a roaming link sent to the Non-AP MLD according to the information obtained from the new AP MLD (target AP MLD), thereby proposing a specific mapping of flow identifiers to links, and then the Non-AP MLD explicitly negotiates the mapping of information flow identifiers to links with the new AP MLD (target AP MLD) based on the suggestion.
