Abstract
Un sistema de comunicación (100) emplea un método y aparato para mitigar los efectos de la distorsión y aumentar las determinaciones de grado deutilización de senal en un receptor (102). El receptor recibe una senal de información discreta que incluye una corriente de símbolos de información. Cadasímbolo de información (124) de la corriente incluye dos componentes: un componente deseado y un componente no deseado que incluye interferencia ydistorsión. El receptor determina una estimación (126) del componente deseado de un símbolo de información y una estimación (128) del componente no deseadodel símbolo de información en base al símbolo de información mismo y su estimación de componente deseado. La estimación de componente no deseado semultiplica luego por un factor de escala (132) que se obtiene en base a la estimación de componente deseado. Una determinación ampliada del grado deutilización de senal (136) para el símbolo recibido se determina finalmenteen base a la estimación de componente no deseado (134). De esta manera, ladeterminación de grado de utilización de senal aumentada es una función sólo de la interferencia, casi exclusiva de la distorsión.
