Abstract

Se revela una composicion absorbente que comprende un material acídico y uno básico, en donde una composicion absorbente exhibe propiedades absorbentesdeseables. Específicamente, la presente invencion se refiere a una composicion absorbente que comprende ya sea un polímero insoluble en agua, esponjableen agua acídico que tiene un pKa de entre alrededor de 2 y alrededor de 12 o un polímero insoluble en agua y esponjable en agua básico que tiene un pKbde entre alrededor de 2 y alrededor de 12 y yasea un segundo material básico o uno acídico. La composicion absorbente tiene la capacidad de absorberlentamente una cantidad grande de líquido, particularmente mientras está bajo una presion externa. La composicion absorbente es util en productos absorbentedescartables, tal como aquellos productos absorbentes descartables que son usados para absorber los líquidos del cuerpo.
