Abstract
Una fibra optica o un cable de energía eléctrica con al menos un sensor electroquímico de analito químico que incluye un polímero conductor el cual se extiende longitudinalmente a lo largo de la longitud del cable. El polímero tiene propiedades eléctricas que soportan un cambio reversible cuando entran en contacto con un analito químico. El polímero conductor puede ser una composicion polimérica conductora que incluye una mezcla de polímero inmiscible de al menos dos polímeros y un relleno conductor el cual está disperso en uno de los polímeros de la mezcla a través de un proceso de percolacion multiple. El cable tiene una camisa y el/los sensor(es) está(n) dispuesto(s) por fuera del nucleo en la proximidad a una superficie interior o exterior de la camisa, o como parte de la camisa, y no está(n) energéticamente acoplado(s) a ningun medio transportador de energía del cable, de manera que se pueda detectar la presencia de analitos en el cable, determinar la ubicacion de donde un cable está expuesto a los analitos a lo largo de la longitud del mismo, detectar la penetracion de los analitos dentro del cable cuando ocurre, determinar si el dano causado al cable fue por los analitos o por otro motivo y determinar la identidad de un analito cuando está en contacto con el cable. También se divulga un aparato para detectar la presencia de un analito químico en el cable.
