Abstract
Una célula de electrólisis 100 tiene una membrana electrolítica 110, un electrodo de reducción 120 y un electrodo de oxígeno en evolución. La membrana electrolítica 110 está formada por un material que tiene conductividad protónica (ionómero). Un catalizador de reducción utilizado para el electrodo de reducción 120 está compuesto por una composición que contiene un primer metal catalizador (metal noble) que contiene al menos uno de Pt y Pd que contiene uno o más tipos de segundos metales catalizadores seleccionados entre Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo, Ru, Sn, W, Re, Pb, y Bi. El electrodo de oxígeno en evolución 130 contiene catalizadores de óxidos de metal noble tales como RuO₂, IrO₂, y similares.
