Abstract
Un método para incrementar la disponibilidad de nutrientes de los carbohidratos en un material de biomasa nativo, que comprende: dividir un material de biomasa nativo que comprende polisacáridos seleccionados del grupo formado por celulosa, pectina, hemicelulosa, lignocelulosa y mezclas de los mismos, para producir una biomasa de partida, donde. la biomasa de partida comprende menos de 5% de agua, y donde la división comprende cizallamiento, corte, demolición, destrozo o molienda; y tratar el material de biomasa de partida mediante la irradiación del material de biomasa de partida con una primera irradiación de haz de electrones para producir un primer material de biomasa tratado; enfriar el primer material de biomasa tratado; e irradiar el primer material de biomasa tratado con una segunda irradiación de haz de electrones para producir un segundo material de biomasa tratado; con lo cual se incrementa la disponibilidad de nutrientes de los carbohidratos en el material de biomasa nativo; donde la disponibilidad de nutrientes se determina mezclando la segunda biomasa tratada con agua, removiendo la porción líquida y analizando la porción líquida removida para determinar el contenido de glucosa, la primera y segunda radiación de haz de electrones se aplica a un índice de dosis de 1 Mrad/s a 10 Mrad/s, y la potencia de la primera y segunda radiación de haz de electrones se selecciona de 1 kW, 5 kW, 10 kW, 20 kW, 50 kW, 100 kW, 250 kW o 500 kW, y antes de la irradiación, substancialmente no se agregan químicos o agentes que produzcan hinchazón a la biomasa.
