<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device to prevent tool breakage with a ball coupling under spring action.
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
3 and 4 show an embodiment of the invention in longitudinal section and elevation and in four cross sections, respectively.
According to FIGS. 3 and 4, the driving coupling part consists of the housing 9 with the hollow pin 6, which is turned out conically at the top at 10 and sits on the matching cone of the work spindle, and the coupling disc 5, which is connected to the inner circumference of the housing 9 located lugs 11 is carried along about the common axis and is axially displaceable under the pressure of the spring :). The driven part consists of the driver with the clutch disc 4 and the shaft 12, which is rotatably mounted on the pin 6 and at the lower, free end carries the chuck J. 3 for the tool. The axial feed pressure is provided by the ball bearing located between the chuck 13 and the journal 6. 14 recorded and transferred to the work spindle.
The driving part of the clutch is coupled to the driven part, for example, by eight balls 1, which are located between the disks 4 and 5 and in part in the eight holes 2 and 2 arranged concentrically in these. 2 'and are held under pressure by the spring 3.
The adjustments of the distance between the disks 4 and 5 required to change the coupling resistance are achieved by axially displacing one disk 5 and positioning the balls 1 in the middle of this distance. The adjustment of the disk 5 takes place with the aid of the collar J of the sleeve-M by turning the latter on the thread 17 of the shaft 12, whereby it is brought closer to the disk 4 or removed from it.
The nose 26 couples the sleeve. 16 with the sleeve 18.
EMI2.1
Ball coupling, characterized in that the position of the points of application of the driving and driven coupling parts (4 and 5) on the coupling balls (1) can be changed in order to use the device for tools of different torsional resistance.
