Fig. 3 veranschaulicht eine Einzelheit.

Immersion device for vessels, in particular barrels, for testing their tightness.
In order to examine vessels, especially barrels (transport containers) for beer, wine or the like, for their tightness, they are immersed in water in a known manner, with compressed air being introduced into the vessels: leaks can easily be recognized by rising air bubbles. This immersion of the barrels in the water of the immersion vessel is done today by means of a correspondingly controlled piston actuated by means of compressed air, the hollow, articulated rod of which is provided with a compression head that sits tightly on the bunghole of the barrel to be tested for the introduction of compressed air.
The subject matter of the invention is a simplified immersion device in which the downward and upward movement of the air supply pipe is brought about by means of a switchable friction gear. In particular, this gear moves a screw spindle axially on which the air supply tube is articulated.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the subject invention, u. FIG. 1 illustrates a front view and FIG. 2 shows a side view of the device, both in partial section.
Figure 3 illustrates a detail.

container e can be immersed. The water tank e carries a frame / on which a transmission shaft h is mounted in bearings g. On this shaft there is a pair of friction wheels i which can be moved on a spring wedge
EMI1.2
Fork!, A shaft m and a hand lever ei, (Fig. 1 and 3) the horizontal friction wheel o and the screw nut p connected to it can be rotated in one direction or the other.
The vertical screw spindle q to this nut is provided with a continuous keyway and is prevented from rotating by an engaging key in the sleeve! ', So that by pressing the right or left friction disk i against the disk o it axially opens or is moved downwards. At its lower end, the screw spindle q carries a tube s mounted in a ball joint u and therefore pivotable, at the lower end of which the pressure head t is seated. An air line @ leads through the pierced ball joint u and through the swivel tube s compressed air to the pierced pressure head t, which allows compressed air to enter the inside of the barrel in a known manner when the barrel is pressed down.
In the normal position, the screw spindle q with the pressure head t is so high above the grate b that a barrel can be brought onto the grate. Then by operating the hand

pressed and thereby this and thus the nut p is rotated. As a result, the non-rotatable screw spindle q is screwed down and, after the pressure head t hits the bunghole of the barrel a, while the air inlet to the barrel opens automatically, it presses the barrel with the grate b into the immersion vessel e under water. After sufficient immersion, the pair of friction disks i is brought into the middle position by means of the hand lever n, whereby the screw spindle q stops and the examination can now be carried out on the immersed barrel.
To bring the barrel up, the friction gear is switched over, i. H. the second disk i is pressed against the disk o, whereby the screw spindle q is retracted and the barrel rises through the action of the weights d.
