Description

 EMI1.2
zellulose, Weichmachungsmittel, Harze, Farbstoffe usw. zusetzen.

Process for the production of paints, impregnating agents and the like like

It was found that the commercially available. Acetyl celluloses with a content of more than 50 o acetic acid in hydrous ethylene chlorohydrin and in monochlorohydrin-water mixtures
 EMI1.1
that you dissolve the very water-moist acetyl cellulose, as it is obtained during manufacture, in pure or hydrous chlorohydrin, or that you let water flow in a thin stream with stirring to solutions of acetyl cellulose in pure ethylene chloride or monochlorohydrin.
 EMI1.2
add cellulose, plasticizers, resins, dyes, etc.

The paints obtained by the process described above dry faster than the known acetyl cellulose solutions in pure chlorohydrins and are considerably cheaper to produce than these.

Example 1. 5 parts by weight of commercially available acetone-soluble acetyl cellulose are dissolved in a mixture of 30 parts by weight of water and 70 parts by weight of ethylene chloride: this solution can be used as a spray paint. If the stated amount of ethylene chlorohydrin is replaced by 60 parts by weight of ethylene chlorohydrin and 10 parts by weight of monochlorohydrin, a very useful coating varnish is obtained.

Example 2: 10 parts by weight of acetyl cellulose are dissolved in 65 parts by weight of monochlorohydrin and 35 parts by weight of water with the addition of 20 parts by weight of methylene acetoacetic ester.
 EMI1.3
can be used for high quality stuff or paper printing.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
 EMI1.4
that acetyl celluloses with more than 500 acetic acid are dissolved in chlorohydrins and water.
