Verfahren zur Herstellung von Essenzen für Mundwässer, Haar-, Bade-und Waschwässer, Desinfektionsflüssigkeiten, Parfiimerien u. dgl.
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

To give fragrances a solution which is completely miscible with water without separating out visible oil droplets. Solutions composed in this ratio not only represent a different colloidal system in principle than the known ones, but they also differ essentially in their physical and chemical properties and, with regard to their use as novel essences, are highly advantageous from the latter.
These solutions - sulfooleate dissolved in essential oil - thin, easily agile liquids with the color and unchanged smell and taste of the odorous substances used, can be kept in this form for years without any noticeable change.
As a result of the new mixing ratio, there are therefore very significant advantages, through which the production of long-lasting, marketable essences and fragrance mixtures using sulfooleates is only made possible in practice, and which can be summarized as follows compared to the known sulfooleate mixtures:
The "sulfooleate in essential oil" solutions are: 1. more concentrated; 2. more durable, because the small amount of sulfofatty acid alkali, to a correspondingly lesser extent, in the essential oil solution also under completely different conditions and in any case has a much weaker effect on the essential oil than an excess of fatty acid alkali in the aqueous solution; 3. purer in taste due to the much smaller amount of the admixture, namely the sulfooleate; 4. less viscous, therefore easier to fill into narrow, small vessels and to empty through capillary openings; 5. flawless in external appearance.
The essential oil or the mixture of one with other, also solid, is used for the production

mixed. In most cases, this does not result in a clear solution, but a cloudy, thick emulsion, due to the water contained in the added soap, which cannot be dissolved in the prevailing mixing ratio of predominantly water-insoluble character.
This water separates completely from the water over time, sometimes only after standing for weeks

by adding a water-binding agent, e.g. B. of anhydrous sodium sulfate, better to avoid reactions, by easily soluble potassium or ammonium salts, bromides, nitrates and the like. Like., also expediently by stirring in anhydrous potassium carbonate. Within a short time, the mixture clears up with the separation of a concentrated, aqueous salt solution, which collects at the bottom of the vessel together with undissolved salt after it has settled sufficiently. Also organic, easily soluble in water compounds, salts, sugars, etc. Like. Fulfill the purpose.
To carry out the process, for example, 20 parts by weight of essential pine needle oil and 4 parts by weight of Turkish red oil (50% fat content) are intimately mixed and 0.5 parts by weight of anhydrous potassium carbonate are gradually added while stirring. As soon as the mass has cleared, it is left to rest and, after complete settling, is lifted in the usual way from the solid and dissolved potassium carbonate that has accumulated on the ground.
To prepare an essence suitable for mouthwash purposes, a solution of, for example, 12 parts by weight of peppermint oil, 3 parts by weight of aniseed oil, 3 parts by weight of fennel oil, 1 part by weight of menthol, 0.2 parts by weight of iris oil, 0.8 parts by weight of saline is mixed with 4 parts by weight of Turkish red oil (about 50% fat content) and in the manner described above by adding 0'8 parts by weight
Clarified potassium bromide.
The solutions, essences obtained in this way, can be colored differently by suitable dyes, by adding inert solvents such as alcohol, benzyl acetate, benzyl benzoate and the like. Like. In those cases where the aromatic content is undesirably high, it can also be diluted as required. The novel solutions of sulfooleates in essential oils described here can also be prepared in such a way that a corresponding amount of dry sulfooleates or sulfooleates containing a few percent water is dissolved in essential oils of any composition.
