Clarifier for urban and other sewage.

The problem to be solved by the present invention is to mechanically clean urban and factory wastewater from the floating debris carried along, without the need for the very expensive systems that have been predominantly used up to now or without causing disturbances caused by damming and subsequent floods .

The clarifier consists in the peculiar arrangement of one or more
 EMI1.1
Embankments built into the sewer fall and which forward, d. H. in the direction of the flowing water, are bent up at an angle so that the suspended matter remaining on the sieve devices cannot be washed away beyond the sieve, but rather remain on the same and easily removed via the inclined part of the sieve and B. can be brought into a chute placed across the channel, along the sieve edge.

The drawing shows two sieve devices arranged one behind the other. In practical operations, the same will be arranged in larger spaces and other mechanical clarifying devices, such as filter baskets, wing grates, etc. s. w. to be appropriate. The sieve a arranged first in the direction of flow consists expediently of flat iron, metal rods or wires placed next to one another, the second sieve b of perforated sheet metal, wire mesh or the like Material bound.

The sieving devices a and I) are conveniently located in an extension of the channel, the width of which they cover. Cross rails e carry the sieve above the water level. In front of each sieve, a slope c is built across the canal, over the overflow edge of which the water falls onto the sieve at increased speed. The channel d can be attached to the edge of the sieve or formed in one piece with the sieve. The substances that collect on the sieve and are held back by the bending are lifted into the channel d by hand or mechanically and removed to the side. Clarification devices with grates lying transversely to the feed channel for the waste water are, for.

   B. became known by the German patent specification No. 78872, but the same require a special baffle wall on the outflow side of the channel and a deepening of the sewer bottom below the grate.
