Description

    Glasschneidediamant.
 EMI1.1

    Glass cutting diamond.
 EMI1.1

The invention relates to a glass cutting diamond, which is characterized in that it is provided with a beveled cutting edge. In the rough diamonds previously used for this purpose, the natural corners and edges were used for cutting; The pieces had to be checked not only for their crack cleanliness, but also especially for whether the existing edges could be cut. This sighting requires great expertise and a substantial investment of time.

With the object of the invention, a far better yield is achieved even from the fragments of the natural diamond that were previously unusable for cutting, but also a better work performance and a longer working time, u. between the fact that two or more planes which incline towards each other at certain angles of slope are produced by grinding on a possibly very irregular fracture surface of the diamond. The ridge of these ground planes is ground particularly sharply, then polished and thus serves as an effective cutting edge.

The drawing shows in FIG. 1 a cut natural diamond unmounted in cross section (enlarged), in FIG. 2 a diagram of a mounted glass cutting diamond according to the invention.

The ground surfaces a and their ridge line b are created by grinding off the parts indicated in the figure with a dashed line.
