KÜpenfarbstoffen.
Das Färben mit Küpenfarben auf Baumwolle bietet insofern Schwierigkeiten, als diese Farbstoffe stärker gedrehte Garne oder fester geschlagene Baumwoll- oder Leinengewebe nur sehr unvoll- ständig durchfärben, ein Übelstand. der sich bisher durch Zusätze zum Färbebad nicht vollständig beseitigen liess.
Es wurde nun die überraschende Beobachtung gemacht, dass man beim Färben der Baumwollgarne, bzw.-gewebe unter höherem Druck eine vollkommen gleichmässige Durchfärbung auch mit solchen Küpenfarbstoffen erreicht, die beim Färben unter gewöhnliehen Verhältnissen bisher die ungünstigsten Resultate gezeigt haben. Das Färben erfolgt beispielsweise in der Art, dass man die Garne in einem geschlossenen Färbeapparat packt oder die Gewebe in entsprechender Weise auf perforierte Bäume aufrollt, hierauf den Apparat schliesst. das Färbebad mittels zugehöriger Pumpe durch das Material bis zur vollständigen Füllung des Apparates drÜckt.
Hierauf erhöht man mittels einer Kohlensäureoder Stickstoffbombe oder mit Hilfe einer Luftpumpe den Druck auf 2-3 Atm. und lässt die Flotte während -l Stunde durch das Material zirkulieren. Nach beendigtem Färben lässt man das Farbebad ab, spült mit kaltem Wasser, oxydiert durch Einblasen von Luft oder durch Behandeln mit Sauerstoff abgebenden Mitteln und seift hierauf gründlich.

Dyeing with vat dyes on cotton presents difficulties insofar as these dyes only incompletely dye through more tightly twisted yarns or more tightly twisted cotton or linen fabrics, a drawback. which up to now could not be completely eliminated by adding to the dye bath.
The surprising observation has now been made that when dyeing cotton yarns or fabrics under higher pressure, a completely uniform dyeing is achieved, even with those vat dyes which have so far shown the most unfavorable results when dyeing under usual conditions. The dyeing takes place, for example, in such a way that the yarns are packed in a closed dyeing apparatus or the fabric is rolled up in a corresponding manner on perforated trees, then the apparatus is closed. the dyebath by means of the associated pump presses through the material until the apparatus is completely filled.
The pressure is then increased to 2-3 atm using a carbon dioxide or nitrogen bomb or an air pump. and lets the liquor circulate through the material for 1 hour. When the dyeing is finished, the dye bath is drained off, rinsed with cold water, oxidized by blowing in air or by treatment with oxygen-releasing agents, and then soaped thoroughly.
