Process for the preparation of highly viscous oils soluble in mineral oils.

It is known that fatty oils, Trane, their fatty acids, esters and similar derivatives are thickened by oxidation, in particular by the action of atmospheric oxygen. The thickening is generally greater, the more energetic the treatment with regard to air or oxygen supply, temperature, duration of exposure, etc. It has now been found that extremely viscous oils which are particularly suitable for various purposes and which are soluble in mineral oil are obtained if castor oil or glycerides and other esters of polyoxydic fatty acids are partially oxidized and then heated to over 190 C and not over 250 C for several hours.

The heating can be carried out in a vacuum or under normal pressure, in the latter case the exclusion of air by carbon dioxide is not necessary and is usually not even advantageous.

Castor oil or polyoxy fatty acid esters are used to carry out the process. For example, the products presented according to Austrian Patent No. 94942 such as tririzinoleic acid glycerides, as well as other glycerides or other esters of polyrizinoleic acids and analogous compounds presented in an analogous manner or in another way.

The products produced by the process are particularly suitable for greasing leather and for other technical purposes in tanning; they are suitable for the production of artificial leather, for softening textile fibers of various kinds, for impregnation, for varnishes, lacquers and finishes, for the preparation of emulsions, ointments and the like. Like. The solutions of the products, namely the solutions in mineral oils, are distinguished by their particular permeability.

Example: 1200 tririzinoleic acid glyceride, represented according to Swiss patent 94220, are in
 EMI1.1
around 50 degrees of Engler at 1000 C is reached. The air supply is then switched off, the temperature is then increased to 195-2450 ° C. and kept within these limits for 7-10 hours with gentle stirring. The product is so viscous that the toughness can no longer be determined in Engler's apparatus.
